How to deal with hair when being active?
« on: September 11, 2013, 12:34:34 am »
Lately in Physical Education we've been playing flag football outside. It's been about 80-90 degrees in my part of Kansas all week. When we play I usually try pretty hard, therefore I tend to sweat and my hair gets really messed up. It takes me about an hour to do my hair in the morning with brushing, straightening, and putting product in it and such, I really hate spending that time just so it can get messed up. Any suggestions on how to keep it how I like it to stay?

Well I have short hair that is thick so it just does whatever it wants. So all I know is maybe wear a hat ( not a warm one) or have it short

Short? I don't think that's a possibility. I like my hair long so people can't see my face.

I'd say the best thing to do would be to just take a shower afterwards and then let it do its own thing, because I don't know of any other way to prevent your hairstyle from messing up, other than changing hairstyles entirely.

You can put it in low ponytail (that's what I do)

I have long, thick hair that is almost impossible to do anything with some days (also some parts are shorter than others due to trichotillomania) and I either wear mine in a ponytail or sort of like this when I can't be bothered to do anything with it or just want to keep it out of the way. Advantage of the second one is it keeps it back out of my face but also off my neck in warm weather, so it doesn't get all sweaty and horrible. All it usually needs afterwards is a quick brush, reparting the short bits, and I'm good to go.

I wear my hair in two simple braids that I pull over the top of my head and pin to each other with bobby pins.  It's surprisingly easy and basically makes the hair disappear from my perspective while apparently making it really pretty from other people's perspectives.  I don't know how much that would mess with the hairstyle you like, but I find that it works really well.

when I exercise I always put my hair up, and I keep a rag or towel with my to wipe the swear and keep it out of my hair. Perhaps you could try that sweetheart ^^.

I keep my hair at about 2 inches above Military Regulation length, give or take a few centimeters. But it works because I have thick hair. There really isn't any way I know of that can solve the problem completely, so haircut or dealing with it is pretty much all you can do. You could wear hats, too.

Tying it up helps a lot. If you wear a hat, you could do the fold-the-ponytail-under-your-hat thing, or my favorite, the put-your-ponytail-through-the-opening-in-the-back thing!  (:

Maybe put on some hair spray and put the hair into a bun . Or wear a hat and tuck your hair in. :D

A lot of my soccer team's seniors wear headbands. They wear them so their hair sticks up and so it looks like mushrooms.  :P

It'd help if I knew just how long your hair was.. Are we talking just below the eyes, or are we talking floor length?

You could try tying a cloth around your head, if a hat would mess up your hair too much. Or... carry a rag with you and wipe the sweat. Worst case scenario would be to compromise a little and trim your hair a little bit shorter.

Mu Rho Ni's answer...  :D My hair literally does stick out in all directions, just like an anime character. All natural too... a gene I must have inherited from my mom's side of the family. Even after wearing a hat all day, the hair immediately springs back up.

A ponytail or baseball hat works for shoulder length or longer hair if you don't want it in your face while running. You will probably need to restyle it regardless.

We're talking past chin in the front and down to my shoulders in the back. This really isn't an issue for me any longer considering I found some hairspray that holds really well. :P
