I am now listed on a national network for bat rehabilitators/carers. If someone calls the Bat Conservation Trust's helpline and they are in a particular 24 km radius, then I will be contacted to either pick the bat up or have it brought to me. I've already cared for a few bats already as part of a cathedral surveillance project. Once I've been paid this month, I am going to be picking up a mesh puppy playpen that can be used for bat care as a space that's a bit friendlier than what I currently use.

Went to the local Dodge dealership and bought a new electronic key fob as the original stopped working. Now I can unlock the car without waking the neighborhood.

I made it through the semester, even if my GPA didn't and I might have to make it through again...

Learned recently that I'm due for something called the Scott Crossfield Award. It goes to Aerospace Education Officers in Civil Air Patrol who've attained the master level.

Our rescue dog is getting more confident. She's managed to walk up to the nearby park three times this week and is socialising with other dogs.

My ten dollar used bike checked out okay. Some dry-rot on the sidewalls, but tires are holding pressure.

the good news! The ornaments I have with the dreaded 1950's 'black powder' or better known as spent uranium, are not as dangerous as I thought. Bad news is they're still dangerous.  The radon and radiation are gone. But the powder itself is still a heavy metal. Harmful if inhaled or ingested.

The wonderful 1950's. The years that brought us "Who needs a light to write at night?" You guessed it. Uranium tipped ink pens. And "For that festive look all year try Krylon Uranium enriched spray paint." And everyones household favorite, uranium tipped tweezers! Goes with your uranium wrist watch and uranium enriched makeup. Not making this stuff up. The uranium craze hit the Christmas market as well. Everything from glow ornaments to glitter you could spray on your tree.
It's been said that rats can gain access to your home by climbing up threw your toilet. I prefer to use the front door.

Kobuk's Rule #1 when going to the library: Never pass up a good deal if the library has a "For Sale" area for discontinued and clearance books, DVD's, and other items. ;)  I scored the following today at my local library for $1 each:

Three Stooges 75th Anniversary 3-disc DVD set
Doctor Who, Peter Davison Complete Season 1 Blu-Ray set
