I'm at Borrego Springs with my Grandparents and my family for Thanksgiving. We're going to go eat out.

Just finished cleaning my car out.  Been about 5 months since my dog Heidi passed away,  and have had about 50 dogs in my car since because i volunteer at an animal shelter. All number of things have happened in the car during that time, and it needed a deep cleaning.  Puke, poo, pee,  slobber,  mud, and lots and lots of hair.

I will take a break from volunteering...my car can't take much more.  :D

Decorating for Christmas. First I a have to pack everything in the living room and kitchen up. Then start from the top and work my way down. Takes a few days to get all the ornaments on the tree. Then there's the few hundred other things that have to go up. I'll spend this month putting it all up. People will come over and enjoy it for a few days. Then I'll spend next month taking all back down. Unpacking everything that goes back in place. Then do it all over next year. I it worth it? Yes.

Bought a snack tray in preparation for Christmas family gathering. Had to remove the perishable parts to refrigerate.

Still recovering from removing my back seat in my jeep and stripping it down to bare frame,  hand washing the upholstery and foam in woolite. This was all because a fun large dog just hosed down the back rest of the back seat with stinky urine.  I think he hates me.  This was 1 week ago.  Hands got beat up from it and back really wrenched. But the seat is like brand new!
Took 6 hours to do.  Not easy.

And if you are wondering, this happened despite having a water proof cover on the seat. He removed it...

Still decking for Christmas. Takes a wile when you've been collecting for well over 30 years. Got both songs uploaded and sent. And now I'll have to cook over the weekend for a out of the blue pot luck lunch at work Monday.  Be making polenta marinara and garlic rosemary roasted potatoes. My boss asked me "what is polenta?" I told him, "Italians can't make cornbread."  So he wrote down "bad cornbread." :)  Will also get a jump on the cooking I'll be doing for family Christmas day.

Just got done changing engine oil in 30 degree weather,  with 40 mph wind... don't do that.  It blows everywhere.
And hot engine oil doesn't make you much warmer, even when it spillls all over you.

After all that cooking I'm still cooking. Batch of bread and two different kinds of cookies. Now looking at a recipe for a bread I've haven't tried making.  Bread is an interesting thing. Just a few ingredients, flour, water salt and yeast you can make hundreds of variations. And with the use of a polish or bigga ( different ways to start bread up to 24 hours in advance ) the flavors you can get expand dramatically. 99% of all my bread is always started with a polish. Ten oz of flour to ten oz of water and one half teaspoon of yeast. This ferments for 12 hours. The flavor it gives is very different from bread made without it. So much better. Not that there's anything wrong with good old home made bread. But if you can make it better then why not? :)

Sending a package back i got through the mail. I got a surprise in the mail yesterday. A gift from a business I've never done business with. Two small porcelain blue figurines. I'm guessing these were supposed to go to someone else. So I'll send it back today with a letter.

I'm making Ciabatta bread. This will be my second attempt at artisan bread. I've seen recipes for this that take everywhere from 20+ hours down to toss it on a slab and cook. The recipe I'm following will take 6 plus hours to make. Eighteen plus if you count the fermenting of the poolish. That's been bubbling up now for a few hours now. Still have three loaves in the freezer. Cut into a new loaf this morning. Never get tired of home made bread.

Well. like so many others my first attempt at this bread was a flop. I'll try again when I have the time to. Still have three and a half loaves of great bread on hand.

It's in the middle of winter and i'm listening to some crazy mowing their lawn. I guess someone got a new lawnmower for Christmas and they couldn't wait to try it out.  :D
