Title: Furry webcomics that you read
Post by: DeltaFur on May 09, 2010, 12:32:02 am
Which furry webcomics (or printed comics) do you guys read? I started this thread because I only read two and I want to get to know a few more. I myself read TwoKinds and Wrongside, currently.

This thread (http://forums.furtopia.org/index.php/topic,31527.0.html) is almost two years old, but you might be able to find some recommendations in there.

Furry comics I read regularly:
http://www.liondogworks.com/fur-piled.html (http://www.liondogworks.com/fur-piled.html) - Fur-Piled
http://furthiahigh.concessioncomic.com/ - Furthia High
http://www.pholph.com/ (http://www.pholph.com/) - Jack (NSFW 18+)
http://www.lackadaisycats.com/ (http://www.lackadaisycats.com/) - Lackadaisy
http://www.rainedog.com/ - Raine Dog (a somewhat new furry-type project from the creator of Ozy and Millie)

Animal-people comics I read regularly that claim they aren't furry, but WE KNOW THE TRUTH:
http://www.achewood.com/ (http://www.achewood.com/) - Achewood (NSFW 18+)
http://www.daisyowl.com/ - Daisy Owl
http://www.qwantz.com/ (http://www.qwantz.com/) - Dinosaur Comics

Until just recently, I didn't strictly read any "furry" comics, unless you count VGcats...I don't really.

A few weeks ago, I caught wind of "faux pas", so I read through the archive in 2 days, and I want more :D!

TCD, a few days ago, introduced me to JACK 18+, which I've been reading.  Very dark, Very gritty, not forum approriate.

I've been looking into some more, so it would be nice if somebody were to talk about various webcomkics they read :D

I read:

Kevin and Kell http://www.kevinandkell.com
Precocious: http://www.precociouscomic.com/
Housepets: http://www.housepetscomic.com/
Furry Experience: http://furryexperience.smackjeeves.com/
Catena: http://catenamanor.com/

Comics that aren't really furry but have some anthro characters in them:
Sinfest: http://www.sinfest.net (adult references)
Weesh: http://www.weeshcomic.com/
Slightly Damned: http://raizap.com/sdamned/index.php (maybe adult references)

I keep up with the following:

Panthera Comic (http://www.pantheracomic.com)
The-Whiteboard (http://www.the-whiteboard.com)
2 Kinds (http://www.2kinds.com) NSFW 18+
Faux Pas (http://www.ozfoxes.com/fauxpas.htm)
Original Life (http://www.jaynaylor.com/originallife/)
Jack (http://www.pholph.com) NSFW 18+
Freefall (http://freefall.purrsia.com)
Sandusky (http://sandusky.comicgenesis.com)
Concession (http://concessioncomic.com) NSFW 18+
Furthia High (http://furthiahigh.concessioncomic.com)
Catena Manor (http://catenamanor.com)
Tales from the Mynarski Forest (http://mynarskiforest.purrsia.com/)
Sabrina Online (http://www.sabrina-online.com/thismonth.html) PG-13
Little Tales (http://www.little-tales.com)
FW Adventures (http://www.fw-adventures.com)
Bear Nuts (http://www.bearnutscomic.com)
Generation 17 (http://generation17.smackjeeves.com) NSFW 18+
Paradigm Shift (http://www.paradigmshiftmanga.com/)
Babe in the Woods (http://babeinthewoods.comicgenesis.com/)
Sergom (http://www.sergom.com)
White Noise (http://www.wncomic.com/)

Discontinued:
Better Days (http://www.jaynaylor.com/betterdays) NSFW 18+ (continued as Original Life)
Fur Will Fly (http://www.jadephoenix.org/fwf/)
Coming Up Violet (http://www.webcomicsnation.com/bdaniel/violet/series.php) (continuation of Fur Will Fly, was good while it lasted)
Black Tapestries (http://blacktapestries.comicgenesis.com/d/20020711.html) PG-13

Ones I don't follow anymore:
Dan and Mab's (http://www.missmab.com/) The focus of this comic went in wonky directions, seemed like the comic tried too hard to tend pander to the wants and needs of every basement-dwelling furry that sent them an email.  For my taste, there were too many things going on at once for the storyline to really be compelling enough to try and follow.
VG Cats (http://www.vgcats.com) I don't-not follow this, I do check it occasionally, but I don't guess I brought into the ZOMGVGKATSAREAWESOMENOWAI hype.  The artist is a bit disconcerted by furries anyway, so no fur off my back :3

*edit* left out Sabrina and The Whiteboard and Mynarsky Forest... (I should start writing them down again >.< )
*edit1* bored, figured I'd include some I don't follow anymore, left out blacktapestries

Just a friendly reminder that if any of the comics you link to contain adult material, you should mark that in your post. :)

I've gone back and edited my own post accordingly.

Bittersweet candy bowl - http://www.bittersweetcandybowl.com/c1/p1.html (http://www.bittersweetcandybowl.com/c1/p1.html)
I put it on page 1 so you can start reading it. It's PG-13 rated. I love it, it's lighthearted at first but then the "bitter" in bittersweet comes into play.

I also read VGcats, and that's pretty much it.

Underling (http://underlingcomic.com) -NSFW 18+  Not quite "Furry" but there are some cat people in it.

EDIT: Coming up Violet (http://jadephoenix.org/comingupviolet/2007/07/30/coming-up-violet/) can now be found here. I'd rate it about PG.

The only furry-related comic I read anymore is VG Cats, and that's really more a Penny Arcade-style gaming comic anyway, and even that is beginning to lose my interest due to it's increase in filibusters and unfunny jokes.
Far too many furry comics lose my interest because they just love to drop moral messages with the force of a thousand anvils, often at the expense of important stuff like plot.  I'm not saying moral messages are bad, but if they're detrimental to the plot then you've got a problem.

I just spent the past 2 nights sitting at my computer.

I started reading Better days, got 16 chapters in, and realized I hadn't moved since I sat down, and that 4 hours have gone by.  Same thing happened last night, but I finished it.  Original life is next.

I'm reading Raine Dog now..I really like it :3

Welcome to Keenspot Arbutus  :P

Speaking of Keenspot, This comic isn't what one would consider furry, though a sheep is one of the main characters..Well, actually, there ARE only 3 characters in the whole comic!

(the art gets much better as time goes on)

There are very, very few webcomics I read. A big reason is that I get so frustrated with the format. I can't stand reading one or two pages of story at a time, to me that's like torture. Plus I hate reading on the computer screen. But there is one that I make an exception for: Order of Tales. http://www.rice-boy.com/order/index.php (http://www.rice-boy.com/order/index.php)
I'm surprised no one's mentioned it yet, it's awesome! It helps that there is already 600+ pages to read, and the story is almost finished. Sort of has a Lord of the Rings feel, but with tons of really cool-looking creatures and weird stuff.

Anyway, I also like Rain Dog, and I really want to see where it goes, but...blah.

No idea there were so many JACK fans. Note, the comic pages are not working at the moment....but when they are, y'all should come join the forums. For mature (and I mean that in more than one way) audiences, though.

The only other furry comic I intermittently read is Vinci and Arty (http://www.vincifruit.com). It's work safe, but some of the topics are marginally more mature than others. Proceed at your own risk. (Also down.)

I don't really know how much it counts, if at all (and if it does it's most definitely not deliberate), but Homestuck (http://mspaintadventures.com/) has a lot of non-human characters in it, plus I've seen a lot of furries that like it so I thought I'd throw it out there.
Also I grudgingly admit that I've come to like Housepets.

I still vividly remember the day that they ran the very last strip of Calvin and Hobbes in the paper...  It was heart-breaking to have it end.

As for comics that I read these days, the only furry one really is Dinosaur Comics at www.qwantz.com.  But, I do write one at www.spacehounds.com.

There's Concession Comic, Jack, VG Cat, Bunch of Crap, Vincy and Arty and I've recently stumbled upon Housepets.
But I only read concession regularly.
:3 I do follow a bunch of non-furry webcomics.... but that's not relevant to the thread.
Also, there's MS Paint adventures, which has had a small furry hinting but it's mainly humane

I am a big fan of Better Days / Original Life and really enjoy Jay's writing. I do not recommend Better Days for younger readers.

http://www.jaynaylor.com/originallife/

I also on and off read Slightly Damned, when I remember.

http://www.sdamned.com/

Although they are not furry comics, El Goonish Shive, The Wotch, and my own Abstract Gender all played some omage to furs with rarely appearing fursonas of the main characters. Dan Shive's writing is another one I am quite fond of.

I stayed up way too late tracking down as much art of her as I could!

Man, I've done that before. Webcomics can be dangerous to one's sleeping habits.  :P
Indeed. (look up archive binging on tvtropes)
Already did...then wikiwalked (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WikiWalk) for the rest of that evening! :D
I've done that the last.... 7 or so years of my life...  :D

I just found this comic today:
http://fantasypower.net/index.php (http://fantasypower.net/index.php)

It's sort of like Pokemon, only there are no annoying humans. And everyone makes fun of the small, cute monsters. At any rate, it is full of cute so check it out.

It was very good while it lasted. I relate to it in every way.

Same here. I read all of them a year ago, and I still come back to re-read it every now and then.  :P

I think (whoever makes it) is coming back. he updated this year... even though it was 8 months ago >:(
'twas a great strip. raccoons are definitely natures gay ninjas  :D

The art is really nice. The story is very well-paced, which is rare for a webcomic. Genre is sort of sci-fi/fantasy with some mystery and suspense thrown in. It's not purely a furry comic, but I think you'll find your furry desires satiated.

The name ICQ is pronounced "I Seek You" and is a direct take-off of the old chat program that no one uses anymore.
I still use ICQ... I have friends that still use ICQ as well.

Anyway, as far as webcomics, I can't say I really follow any. I follow a few other webcomics, but not furry related.

That has proved the case on most furry webcomics... or general webcomics. Most authors grow bored or can't keep it up for personal reasons, unfortunately.

Probably one of THE BEST furry webcomics I have read is Cheap Thrills by Vivisection_Bob/Skurvy on FA. She also has a website for it right here: http://cheapthrills.xepher.net/index.html
The comic is intended for mature readers!

I commissioned her for a picture of my fursona and my friend's because I love her style so much. The story is wonderful and the characters are INCREDIBLY lovable, imo. <3

Not as much in recent years, but I have some. :) Don't be jealous! Why not note her and say what you said to me?

I just thought about it though; you might want to add a "potentially mature" tag to your post. Cheap Thrills isn't exactly puppies and rainbows.

I just stayed up all night reading ICQ and Furry Experience. ><

Apart from those, I read Cheap Thrills, Original Life, DMFA, Housepets and Sequential Art. I used to read Jack - It was one of those odd ones where I was never sure if I liked it or not, or how much it disturbed me, but I kept reading it regularly anyway.

Oh, and Dinosaur Comics, but I've never really thought of them as being furry comics.

Oh, and Dinosaur Comics, but I've never really thought of them as being furry comics.

Well, they are talking dinosaurs.  And, seriously, do you think the same text would be nearly as good if delivered by characters other than T-Rex, Utahraptor, and Dromiceiomimus?  Say, for instance, some random humans?  I think not.

That makes it furry.

Sorry, I probably didn't explain myself very well. I'm not saying that they aren't. I meant that I had never though of them as being furry before, and when I saw them on the list I had a moment where I though "wait, that isn't a furry comic... Oh, wait a sec...."

I've read the Blue comics, Ink and World of Wolves (of course it isn't MINE! What would make you think that I'd be advertising? Huh!)
Blue is about a tribe of werewolves, meeting another clan of... cheetahs or leopards I can't remember and I should know too!

Ink is about another universe were the only two creatures are a leopard (that I'm sure of!) and an ostrich. Until they meet another creature...

World of Wolves is about Shivu- I mean... Okay, yeah I won't hide anymore :D ... Shivu on his journey to find a new home only to find it's been demolished by humans... I can't tell you more than that xD It's not all that much finished yet. But it's more interesting than it sounds  ;)

Published comics I've read are Blacksad, Grandville and We3!

This thread (http://forums.furtopia.org/index.php/topic,31527.0.html) is almost two years old, but you might be able to find some recommendations in there.

Furry comics I read regularly:

http://furthiahigh.concessioncomic.com/ - Furthia High
http://www.pholph.com/ (http://www.pholph.com/) - Jack (NSFW 18+)
http://www.lackadaisycats.com/ (http://www.lackadaisycats.com/) - Lackadaisy
http://www.rainedog.com/ - Raine Dog (a somewhat new furry-type project from the creator of Ozy and Millie)

Animal-people comics I read regularly that claim they aren't furry, but WE KNOW THE TRUTH:
http://www.achewood.com/ (http://www.achewood.com/) - Achewood (NSFW 18+)
http://www.daisyowl.com/ - Daisy Owl
http://www.qwantz.com/ (http://www.qwantz.com/) - Dinosaur Comics

WOW! Just reading that Furthia High comic! Couldn't put it down! Good job I'm tired lol or it would be dawn before I got off the internet xD

I've started reading a few more in recent days.
Besides the mentioned VG Cats, I started reading TwoKinds, and I love it. It feels like someone took their furry fantasies, comedy, and a load of anime tropes and mixed them together, and poof, that's what you get. I love it. Its very fun. Not objectively amazing, but its really entertaining.
I've also started reading Ozy and Millie. Not bad, not bad at all.
Also, I noticed someone mentioned it, but THERE'S A KLONOA COMIC? Sweet. Might start reading that.
Also, if you can find a translated version of it online, there's also a comic of Solatorobo: Red the Hunter, I believe.

I've personally only read through a handful of webcomics. Those would include...

Cheap Thrills (really good comic. A bit dark and depressing but the characters are ones you want to laugh and cry with. It's a strong drink though, lotta drugs lotta swearing)

Better Days (Another heavy read, but it is well worth it. Not for younger readers)

I'm also up to date on Original life (fairly lighter read, it's brought a smile to my face every now and then)

Currently on my list to read would be Slightly Damned, TwoKinds, Sandra and Woo, and possibly Furthia high.

I've recently discovered the comic that's already been mentioned several times....Twokinds...I read through the 7 years of comics in 5 hours...I became obsessed (only a little) and I've practiced drawing cartoon furries now :D....I don't know if I'd give twokinds an 18+ rating...there are some crude humor parts but nothing explicit

i read it in like two or three

But did you read it on an Ipod 4th gen were you had to re-zoom it every time so you can read the words?

I don't consider it a furry comic and though it is a a web comic I bought the books at a convention because the creator was set up at the con.

There was one Rabbit In The Moon showwed me on Facebook recently called A Utopia of Our Own by Woofly. It's about the residents of a fursuiting community and their dealings with the outside world. As every major metropolitan area has it's various ethnic communities--this ethic community happens to be furry.

I read a lot of Lackadaisy, Rainedog and Housepets from the beginning and sometimes I like random ones I get linked to sometimes like StupidFox, VGCats, Sam & Fuzzy, Faux Pas, etc and old ones like Ozzy & Millie, too.
I also like the temporary independent ones by random artists and also the disney and contemporary cartoon crossovers lol.

Discovered http://www.peteristhewolf.com/general/036.html (http://www.peteristhewolf.com/general/036.html) some weeks ago. Drawn Manga style in greyscale. The adventures of a college-age werewolf runt and his human girlfriend-turned werewolf. Sexual situations in one version, but only suggested in the other version. It's a bit like the old Teen Wolf television show in that the werewolf community keeps to itself and does not seek to harm anyone. The grownups hold various positions of responsibility in the town where they live. They can wolf-out anytime they wish, but generally do so during a "Howl"--a monthly get-together. The werewolves resemble the anthropomorphic wolves seen on furry art sites on as anime characters. The strip updates weekly, but seems to be on an alternate storyline at present.

Housepets ^^

That strip has been responsible for the disappearance of many hours of my life.  Whoever shared that link with me, it's your fault :P

I go on wikifur occasionally and look at the featured comics. This led me to finding funnyfarm: http://www.funnyfarmcomics.com/ which is a pretty good comic. It's pretty funny once you get into it and it helps me take my mind off things ^^ I'm reading from the start of the archive which is 2009

Another comic I saw on wikifur that was featured was fur-piled which is a gay/LGBT themed comic. http://www.liondogworks.com/fur-piled.html This comic is also pretty good.

A long time ago I used to read The Jewel Vixens and Vicki Fox.

However, the third issue to the former was never finished so I lost interest. God that's a blast from the past.

I'm caught up with that one. It was garbage. Like, REALLY garbage, but just the right kind of garbage that I kept reading it anyway.

I have finally started reading Girl Genius  since a furry webcomic artist I know refers to it often. It's steampunk style to be sure, but there are indeed furry characters therein.

I occasionally pop on and read SSDD, which I've been following for several years now.

I'm also following a much newer comic, called Rudek and the Bear, which is a prequel to an eventual graphic novel that will be produced. It's completely awesome.

I'm sure plenty of furs have mentioned these already but I read (and sometimes re-read) include:

-Concession (nsfw 18+)
-Order of the black dog (nsfw 18+ and made by the same author of concession)
-Furthia high (SFW PG 13 - Though it hasn't updated since 2014)

-End of things (unfortunately it hasn't updated in ages)
-Fur piled (Rating may vary - I sometimes re-read this one)

I might read ballerina mafia (Another by immelman) but I'm not into the gag a day comics.

Oh there's also At The Heart Of It All, which is kind of angsty.

I also like Lackadaisy cats.

Prequel Adventure (aka Making a Cat Cry: The Adventure) is pretty great. Took me a good two months to finish the thing, but it's not done yet. We (the readers) have been waiting for an update since October 31st, 2015. I think it might be an Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion fan fiction, but the main character's a Khajiit, so it's kinda furry? I think? It gets kinda weird at times. There's even mini games and animations added into it (only accessible on computers), not including the gifs that make up the comic.

Another great one is Sabrina Online. Read that in a day, beautiful story.

I wanna make my own web comic, but I can't draw to save my own life!  :D
