6 new sketches for AC 2003
« on: April 08, 2003, 03:31:49 am »
Ok, here are my latest sketches for AC 2003. I call these my "Furry Fairies/Pixies". I'm not really sure what they should be called so that is what I came up with. I know, not very original, but it is better than not giving them a title at all!

1. "Fennec Fox" This was the first I created in this theme. It was hard getting the characteristics of the fennec fox down on paper in such a small detailed area. Hopefully it will improve when I color it.

2. "Horse". Since I love horses, especially with wings, I had to include at least one pic with them!

3. "Tigress"  I have to say that I feel this is my favorite one of the set.

4. "Wolf and Unicorn" I thought the wolf and Unicorn looked like great friends!

5. "Red Foxes" I know a lot of furolks out there really like Foxes so I decided to create them in the theme.

6. "Lion" I will be buffing up the males a bit more when I resketch it for coloring.

I love the theme, Kada! It's very original, imo. And I think those flowers are going to really draw the eye to the panel.
Are you going to do any more of those? If so, I would like to suggest using a Flower of Paradise. They are one of my favorites.

Well, I do have my 6 for the theme. I don't know what a "Flower of Paradise" looks like. If you send me a pic of one I might be able to dream something up for you!

Thank you for loving the theme, Sumarra! I have 4 colored already and will be working on the next two tonight and tomorrow.

I figure I need to do a panel a week to get all 13 panels done by AC! that will be a total of 78 pics! What doesn't sell at AC will most likely be sold on Furbid or the like.

I'm going to be one VERY busy pegasus!  '<img'>

fFor those interested, here are the colorized versions of the last 6 sketches of the "Furry Fairies"!

These were colored with Prisma colored pencils and the backgrounds were with chalk.

1. "Fennec Femme Furry Fairy"

2. "Horse Furry Fairies"

3. My favorite of the lot!
"Tigress Furry Fairy"

4. "Wolf and Alicorn Furry Fairies"

5. I also like how this one turned out.
"Red Fox Furry Fairies"

6. "Lion Furry Fairies"

That's it for this scheme! Stay tuned to this channel for the next scheme to be finished!

I must say, that's something I've not seen before - anthropomorphic animals turned in to pixies.  Good marks on an original concept, there.  If I can ask a question - what's an 'alicorn'?  I'm not sure on that.  Nice work, Kada.  I look forward to seeing what you have planned next.

To DrakonianDanceR - Thank you.

I downloaded a few photos of artwork of fairies/pixies. One thing I noticed with ALL of them were they were all humans, mainly female. I wanted mine to be different. I wanted them to be anthros. That is what my mind's eye was seeing when I was looking at the photos of the flowers and getting the idea of what I wanted to do with the flowers. (I was actually looking for something else on the internet when I came across the flowers.)

I'm glad you like them.

Alicorn? When I first started on Furry Muck I was still trying to figure out my character and what she should look like. After about a month one of the people I was talking to I asked if my character could be a unicorn and a pegasus and if there were such a thing, in the imaginary world that is. He said yes. I asked what they would be called and he said that the cross between the pegasus and unicorn would be called an "Alicorn". I thought that was cool and I drew what I thought an offspring of the two would look like. Of course, I wasn't very good with wings so I gave up trying to give them regular 'bird' wings and drew them with butterfly wings.

"My first Alicorn" that I drew in July of 2000. The mare is a pegasus and the stallion was a unicorn.

At least that is my understanding of what an Alicorn is. I hope this clarifies it just a little.

(hmmm, rubs head) I'm not sure what I am creating next.

Do you suppose that the reason for that is you happen to 'like' lions?   '<img'>

Thank you for your kind words, Firestorm.

So an alicorn is a pegasus/unicorn hybrid, right?  Is this commonly known amongst fantastic animals (Dragons, Gryphons, etc) or is it a creation made to suit the personality of someone?  I'm guessing the latter, but I'm not certain.  I hope I made that clear to understand.

Actually, DrakonianDancer, I have no idea. To me, Gryphons are a cross between a lion and a bird. How, I'm not sure but then who knows how most of these creations actually came to be? Probably as you stated, "Suit the personality of someone".

What I meant was that are alicorns actual creatures like Dragons, Gryphons, etc, or was it a creation of some fur who felt they were half unicorn and half pegasus?  Like how Miktar (as an example) is a Dragotaur - a half Dragon, half Minotaur.  He made up the concept of the Dragotaur.  It is not a creature of legend, like Dragons, Gryphons, and so on.  So I was asking is an alicorn like a Dragotaur - made up to suit a person, or is it a creature of legend that I just hadn't heard of.  I hope this makes it clearer.

Thank you, Sumarra! Yes, the Tigress is my favorite too.

Thank you for the pic of the flower. I know it as "Bird of Paradise" but I guess it doesn't matter what it is called because it is a beautiful flower!

I will keep the pic in mind when creating some more of my little Furry Fairies.

<Sumarra enters 'bird of paradise' into the search engine then blinks at the results> hehe, well what d'ya know... you were right.  '<img'>  That was much easier than trying to find 'flower of paradise' hehe. I always thought Bird of Paradise was just bird, but according to Meriam-Webster it's both.

(giggles) I never though of looking it up on the internet! Glad you did though. I may later to get more pics of the flower so I have more than one angle for sketching.

Thanks again, Sumarra!
