The equestrian girls/ponies are cute in their human form, but I like the
ponies best. It seems Hasbro is trying to split the characters off into a
new series, and create a market to sell more dolls. Time will tell..

I feel like a spin-off series would be very welcome, I loved Equestrian Girls! Although the toys are a swing and a accedentally let go of the bat and nail a person in the stands with it.

My daughter says this is now her favorite movie.
As for me, I found it enjoyable. It's weird seeing the ponies as humans... but, then I found this generation of ponies pretty weird looking when they were first introduced. Needless to say, I got used to it. And it really was in character with the overall show, so I'm glad I got around to watching it before the next season starts up.

My interest in MLP waned a little towards the end of the third season, so I was a little apprehensive about investing time in a full length movie, let alone one which appeared to be a cynical reboot. But I had my arm twisted and watched anyway.
My opinion: The art style is lovely, the characters are spot-on, and the story bounces along like the best of the early episodes :D I was laughing my butt off for most of it. (:
I don't understand how this little movie can be so divisive... :o

The movie was created very well. It fits the MLP line
well enough that the story line could have worked with
just ponies with a few minor changes. The transformation
to human added a nice twist for it though. Of course
to create the new series too.
It appears Spike is considered more of a pet in the show
since they turned him into a dog. After all they are all
animal characters. Or should I say furry? :orbunny:
It also laid groundwork for Twilight to have a boyfriend. It
will be interesting to see if it works out that way in the
next season. For MLP and Equestrian Girls.
I don't know why there is so much division for the
movie, unless it's just pony purists complaining.

Some of the more hardcore fans take issue with Spike being a pet dog. I can understand where they're coming from. It implies that Spike is now somehow - or has always been - a lower order of critter. :o
But considering his small stature I think the only other option would have been to make him a young child in Equestria Girls world. And that just wouldn't work at all :D. So he's Twilight's best friend and loyal companion but has to be small enough to carry around: hence Spike ends up perfectly cast as a dog. Woof. 8)

It occurred to me that if Twilight has a boyfriend. I wonder how
poor little Spike is going to handle it. Granted his love is for Rarity,
but Rarity doesn't really have romantic feelings for him. So he is going
to have to stay home or entertain hisself when Twilight goes out on
dates.
Many friendships in real life have to deal with this kind of thing.
There is seed for a few shows here. So time will tell.

I waited till I can watch it legally on Netflix.
Anybody noted a little furry reference when the Cuitie Mark crusader's human counterparts, were checking comments to their video, all of the avatar pictures were furry.
