Making an original greeting thread title
« on: September 05, 2010, 03:56:21 pm »
Seems to have become impossible. Every greeting title trope has been played with to the extend each and every one has become a trope of its own.

to the point that even complete nonsense is becoming commonplace (think HURR DURR DERP DERP), not so much here yet, but I've seen it around other places.

Basically I'd say that they've been done to the death to the point that even lampshading lampshading of lampshading this or the looping of such lampshading nolonger seems original...

Is originality to any great degree even possible anymore in greeting thread titles?

I'd say similar goes for the content, but the situation isn't as bad.

Is this about tv tropes or our own Furtopia greeting forum? I'm not even sure this is a debate.

Yeah, I'm kind of confused as to what we're debating.

I think its a matter of originality for a greeting thread topic name.

I simply used "New guy here", because I knew I couldn't think of anything else  :P

We're (supposed to be) debating the claim that I made that there is no way to make a truly original greeting thread title any more...

And let's see if we can't some up with something! :D

Ok, that was pretty genius, even if I did have to go look it up  :D

I got one! In case of a, say, full scale alien invasion, how prepared would this website's defenses be? Yes, I was just watching Invader Zim. But I still would have used it if I'd had thought of it when I got here.

Originality nowadays is a weird concept. We create every day such an amount of... well, anything! that it becomes hard to keep track of what's been done before, and what not.
I'd say that rather having an original line, it'd be more suitable to find an eye-catching phrase, regardless of it's contents originality. For example, I loved the invader zim quote and would be more positively inclined towards whoever arrived with that mindset!
Having said that, *gives a BIG nice cookie to Spirit*
:3 I know it's biased and I'm not supposed to do that, but anyone who arrives quoting Invader Zim has already gained three brownie points in my book.
I ate a bag of grapes and now I own the world.
