I've only told one person in my life, a girl who I had a really good friendship with once. It took me a long while to drum up the courage to do so and it was really hard to find the good words to describe it too her. When I did she kinda laughed at me and asked if I was a furvert, quoting what she had seen on an MTV show. I was kinda embarrassed after that, and I havn't really talked to anyone about the fandom since.

Well thanks for the suggestion bearpaw, but this happened a while ago, and the girl I told left school so I could never really explain furry in full to her. If I met a trusting soul, I could probably tell them, but I havn't met many openminded people lately.

But you would be surprised how many people that are out there who are intrested and are there to help and you never know that someone special may just fall in to your lap someday fate kinda likes to give you the runaround until the time is right  '<img'>

No one I know in RL knows I'm a furry. Or, if anyone does, he/she hasn't told me about it.

I did get called "spider-girl" a lot in school, though, especially after I dressed up as a 'spider witch' for Halloween. I took a witch costume and pinned my spider plushies to it.  '<img'>

I don't really want to tell anyone, mainly because I don't really know how to explain it. To me, being a furry is one of those things I can't really describe in words.

It was really hard for me at first to come out about being furry, but it feals great now that I have...not that there weren't bumps in the road along the way.
Being open about it seems to get easier with practice.

I'm certainly not ashamed of being a fur, but it's not like I go out shouting it from the rooftops.  I have a 'Proud to be Furry' t-shirt I picked up from the Gneech at Further Confusion that I'll wear out in public.  The only person who's ever given me a hard time about it is my friend's little brother, but since he's only 18, I'll give him a pass on the biting retribution. That's a tough thing to "Come Out" with.  I don't know if I'm ever going to show up at work in full make up and tails.  I'm all for furry pride.

"We're here!  Cat's ears!  Get used to it!"

But there's a lot of practical things to take into account (aside from all the stares).  People stepping on your tail, being able to see where your going, trying to type with those big furry gloves on.

Not ideal.

I told all my close friends I'm furry.  They still tease me about it but I can always tell they're just playing around.
They were just really accepting and I guess I'm lucky to have friends like that.

But I dont think anyone should be ashamed of who they are or what they feel.  I'm certainly not ashamed to express myself.  You are who/what you are, take pride!

I have tried to bring it [furry] up in a convorsation before, but it is nearly impossible...what could spark a convorsation like that? besides, my whole family, and I mean all of them already think that I am a freaky, gay (they hate gay people), drug addict, weirdo...and thanks to MTV, "furvert" or animal rapist would be added onto that list

MTV sucks for what they said about false statements about Furs
Infact it was because of MTV that made me want to hide my furry side from everyone else.
It hurts to say that you get someone saying those things even know itsa not true at all.
also i learn not to Expose your Furryness to "so-Called" Religious christians because alot of them will think that you are a satenist!

(I'm suprised that some furry organisation havn't put up a legal action against MTV, doing so will rebuild some of the furry reputation)

My mom found when she read something for my English 9 class, but she doesn't really care.  My brother IS a furry and knows, and one of my close friends I told.  He just thinks it's a bit wierd.
Um....what?
