Yelling Eyes

I'm yelling at people with my eyes,
Why can't they hear me?
I'm speaking clearly with my mind,
Yet they don't understand.
The world is devoid of intelligent life,
I am the only one here.
I just wish there was someone around,
Someone to share my fear.
Every day I am left in darkness,
Hating the human race.
Why did I have to be one of them?
Why can't I change my face?
A furry body, with claws and tail,
An animal I want to be.
Brothers and sisters at my side,
And a pack mentality.
I shall remain yelling with my eyes,
Wondering when you will hear,
I'll speak to you with my mind,
Until you understand.

Maiden With Horn
by C. Alan Loewen

She walks among the roses, sunlight
Glittering off opal and pearl.
He sees through the blossoms
A delicate body of wreathed
Alabaster, distillation of sylph
And maiden.

“Alms!” he cries and the
Silhouetted vision pauses.
“Alms! Bless this poor man’s
Soul.”

A whisper returns, “Do you ask
Or give?

“May we not do both?” He weaves
His web of words, “Come and
Enrich my heart.”

Her retreat quickens his spirit.
He follows the shadowed vision
To a wooded glade.
Under an ancient oak, he sees
The body of a girl, the face of a myth.
Her spiral horn shines in the setting sun.

By wonder transformed, The
Novitiate lays his head, his
Life, his alms, in his
Mistress’s lap.

I Understand
By BabyTiger © 2000 Star Comics Inc.

I understand how you feel
your love for me can't be real
Its over now, our love was grand
I understand, I understand...

My furriness is hard to hide
shameful to be with me: in your mind
It can't be wrong,  its who I am...
but I understand.. I understand

If you ever, change your mind
Come back to me and you will find
me waiting here, joined paw and hand
I'll understand... I'll understand.

Shattered Images © 1991 J.G. (aka Wotan)

Last night there was a killing frost,
  I laid awake all night.
Out in the fields a lone wolf howled,
  I shivered at his cry.
Looking out into the pale moonlight,
  I watched the shadows dance,
  I felt the lonely feeling,
  Coming across the empty lands.
  (Shattered Images)

That night I took the time again,
  To think my thoughts alone.
I need to find myself new life,
  To find myself a home.
So I stepped out in the chilly night,
The wind sliced right through my skin,
And to think of what I need the most,
I just looked in my empty hands.
  (Empty hands across poisoned lands)

Today I felt the need again,
The need for brand new strength.
I've walked this country through the years,
I know it through its length.
Many times through tears and pain,
I felt the need to live,
Through falling leaves, and worthless days,
  I had nothing to give.
  (Nothing but my shattered images)

A man will live through many lies,
When all is said and done.
A man can laugh, a man can cry,
And mourn when he's been shunned.
A man can walk the barren lands,
And stare through eyes of fire,
But then the numbing snow will fall,
  And cool a man's desire.

And time will slip right through your hands,
  Empty hands across empty lands,
  Skeletal hands across dying lands.

Truest

Release the beast inside your soul,
Feel it's true compassion and the furious strength,
Like the strong embrace of a lover,
And its tender kiss on a silvery moonlit night.

Feel the silky, charismatic wind of the everlasting Autumn,
Through your hair, your fur, your pelt,
The warming summer dawn on velvet scales,
The soft touch of your lover's claws tickling down your chest.

Release yourself, take flight!
Show your form; embrace your animal side.
Fear not the Reaper; Fear not the Devils,
Show your talents and bare your face and heart.

The world is harsh, bitter, resentful; the essence of cruelty.
It wishes to change you to fit it, to create a marionette,
Deny the emotionless golem of Earth and refuse its wishes,
Force the world to change for you, don't tame the animal       spirit.

Mercy, peace, compassion, beauty,
Powers that come with great responsibility.
A world beyond the imaginations of some, no, most,
But if it calls to you... answer the door and beckon.

I'm not one to write poetry often, but I thought this old one might fit:

--------------------------
Transition

A sea of clouds flow in the night,
As I glide upon wings alight,
With starlight fire, so cool, yet bright,
It fills the sky, a glorious sight!

Dragon wings do hold me high,
Beneath the starwashed, moonlit sky,
'Bove creatures sleeping by and by,
I carry on, and up I fly.

Into the light I soar and sing,
A Legend's pride, with me I bring,
Amoungst the stars we hear it ring,
"Dragons arise! Join this being!"

Cares and troubles all wash away,
Leaving peace and love to stay,
Inside my heart I hear it say,
"Have you hugged a dragon today?"

Glowing bright, begin the stars,
Causing heehees and some hars,
Beneath our scales, we feel it warms,
Shining so, we're becoming stars!

Lifting with unearthly grace,
We rise up high to take our place,
Amoungst the stars in their chase,
'Round the skies in sedately pace.

Shining love and light below,
We watch as others toil and tow,
Waiting for them all to know,
Someday we'll meet and say hello.

Not Willing To Pay

Day becomes night, As the sun goes away. Love is a price, I am not willing to pay.

A noise is heard outside, The heavy pouring of rain. As you run to my side, With a heart filled with pain.

The tears roll down your cheeks, As they roll down mine too. I give you a kiss and whisper, I will always love you.

I wrap my arms around you, Holding you close and tight. I let you know you are safe, And everything is allright.

I will hold you close, Until night becomes day. Because losing you is a price, I am not willing to pay.

Angel

Darkness falls, the night begins
I start my journey, to escape my sins
Alone I start, drown in my tears
The night engulfs me, over taken by fears
The road is long, can’t see the end
Run from my family, dash away from my friends

No matter how far I seem to go
I can’t get away from the evil I know
Seeming like days, and weeks pass me by
Still running in darkness, alone still I cry

I trip and fall, my knees hit the ground
I look to the sky, no light can be found
I prey to the heavens, for help of some kind
Place my head down, once again start to cry

Out of the darkness, I see a light show
Out steps a figure, surrounded with a glow
He walks up to me, and extends his hand
I take it and he lifts me, back off the land

Who are you? I ask, with a nervous tone
I’m the angel you asked for, when you were alone
Have you come to take me, is it my time to depart?
No, I am here, to heal your heart
Together we travel, out of the night
You saved me from evil.
You mended my heart

Depression Sonata

Mingling with my other emotions,
My sadness is only surpassed by my utter loneliness,
I cry, I scream for the mercy of others, for attention to my needs,
Tears leaking onto my face like bitter jewels.

What can come of life but pain?
In Death is peace
(no no no no no I deny it I won't accept it)
In the Requiem sung for the fallen

is there true adventure and joy.
Greedily, you chose to live the human life,
Realizing too late its curse,
Realizing too late the trickster, the shadowy specter

behind your dreams and nightmares,
Is the regulator Death.
Lies and bitter betrayal,
Are the true meanings of this weak human life.

There is a voice in my head that denys it
(I do I deny it and you shut up shut up shut up life is light is love is good in any form)
But I overpower it with the word 'Suicide'

I wanted the body of an animal.
I wanted to run with the pack, closer then friends.
Denied, I am human.
But I will still find out... what lies on the other side

in the other world.
If I cannot have the body,
the fur, the pelt of the wolven warrior,
then I will not accept the body of the human

Visions In The Water

Sitting on a bench, staring out at the sea. A tear rolls down my cheek, as I look inside me.

A missing half, a partner; but in whole, a friend. Someone to stand by my side until time should end.

Looking into the waves, I see my future and the past. Finding what was missing inside, my search ends at last.

For within these waves, all I see is your gentle face. Calming my soul and filling my spirit with grace.

Running by your side with arms open wide. Holding you close forever, to keep you by my side.

My feelings are pure and my heart will always hold true. For within my earthly power, I will do anything for you.

Jordan Draws

Dedicated to the anthro art of T. Jordan “Greywolf” Peacock

Ink flows and
an ebony line forms
a face, an eye, a mouth,
the artist's desire made
corporeal—a faint echo
of a Divine hand when
it sketched its heart
on the virgin soil
of Eden.

Dream
By: Joel Hudson

I
Dream
this feeling of freedom overwhelms me
I finally have found the key
To being free.

Sprinting,
Running among the trees
Finally feeling truly carefree
However, I know that this is but a
Dream.

Waking,
I feel disappointed,
But not depressed,
For I know that minted
Dreams can be returned to

Free

4 soft gray paws move silently through the woods
A shadowy figure slips between the trees
But suddenly he stops, and he’s heard to say:
“Am I going the right way?”
For a moment uncertainty
The dark forbidding grip of uncertainty
Wraps its’ hands around his soul and clouds his mind with indecision
“I’m not lost
I can’t be
I won’t be
Surely this IS the way, it has to be”
What does this wolf desire so intensely?
Where does he run with such great propensity?
To find the meadow he schemes
For wind open spaces he dreams
To run through the tall grasses
To see the night sky so clear
To feel a sweet spring breeze, as across his face it passes
In his heart, it all seems so near
This great forest has always been his home
And he’s never been one to roam
But he’s always known there was more than this
The years passed, the desire grew stronger
Until one day he could contain it no longer
So now he runs, following a trail that only he knows
The further he travels, the firmer his conviction grows
Determination and desire
Panting on with eyes of fire
For the place where he can be like the wind
The wind that sweeps across the great plains

I'd like to thank the Furtopia admins for giving the writers and poets a chance to strut their stuff. In a visually-oriented fandom, it's nice to have the opportunity to share other means of artistic expression.

Kudos to all who entered their handiwork. It was a lot of fun reading the other submissions and a tip o' the hat to the admins who had the tougher job of being the judges.

*Bings in a huge ice-cream cake slab from DQ and plops it on the table. The gel-frosting inscription spells out 'CONGRATULATIONS' in huge letters and a scrolling script shows the names of all the contestants beneath. She pulls out a big Chef's knife and starts carving it up for all the contestants handing out the pieces to everyfur and smiles.*

I think the cake speaks for me, hehe. There are some really great poems here.

I also wish to congratulate all those that produced some wonderful poetry.  It is really great to see feelings expressed in a non-visual (where visual art is the most common form) way, as Heavy_Horse said.

Thankyou all  ]B=8)
