Lack of ideas.
« on: December 22, 2010, 03:31:44 pm »
Im sure im not the only furry hwo has had this problem, but everytime i think of drawing and want to do, i just dont!
I just dont have any inspirationor ideas, first i could do these none of a big deal pics but now eveyrtime when i want to draw there must be a thought of it.
Any ideas how to ''solve'' this?

Don't think, just draw. When you force yourself, you're doing it wrong. Doodle random scribbles and eventually a picture may come out of it.

A picture should tell a story at some level.  Think of a simple vignette where a character is doing something--eating cereal, reading a book, enjoying a sunny day...  If I were better at drawing, I'd be doing pictures of characters aboard spaceships to explore what daily life would be like aboard ship.  That's my suggestion, anyway. :3

Use contraints, give yourself less freedom, limit yourself. Like think of a theme and work from that. I find that limiting myself can let my imagination flow better then having to much to work from.

Most of the stuff I draw is based on real life events or emotions at the time I drew it.

Personally, I'd suggest Giant, Humboldt, and Colossal Squid, or maybe Great Cthulhu. ;)
Plan? What plan? I'm making this up as I go...

Read a favorite book. They have lots of good ideas for drawings.
Holidays, seasons, all kinds of things can be good for ideas.

I have the same problem :/ I have to turn in a sketchbook with at least 15 sketches in it, and I have no ideas...It's due in a week or two, it has to contain at least 15 drawings (seven colored), and I SUCK at drawing! LOL I know this isn't really my forum, but ideas would help!  :)  I've never tried furry art either...
"The afterlife is like a tree.  When you burn the tree, you'd think the tree is gone; forever banished to nothingness.  But no, the smoke produced from the inferno drifts upwards and connects with the clouds.  The clouds collect water vapor, and rain life upon the living trees; thus, the burnt tree becomes a sustainer of life for the living tree, and ultimately becomes a part of it." ~ Me!

... you should try furry art then X3
maybe not at first in what you are going to turn in until you know that you can do a good enough job to please yourself, because when experimenting with new subject matter/styles/etc, there is the risk that the end product... just may not have been has good as you were hoping for (of course, with some practice, that can still improve, but considering this is on a deadline...)

Usually I just stay up so late that i can't think. Then i just draw :D
It may sound funny, but it actually works!

Hi there :).
Whenever I find myself stuck for ideas I do a combination of things, firstly I relax, stress certainly won't help you be creative so try to do something you find relaxing.
Relaxing for me is a nice walk through my local woodland, I always take a sketchbook as I find walking helps ease my mental block and then I have something to jot down on if ideas come.
Other things I do is read or play music and sit for a little while and usually that helps me alot.
One CD that always works to unblock me is BucketHead: Colma, it's songs are really mellow and there's no lyrics that tempt me to sing along and occupy my mind :).
Sometimes writing helps me, I'll look at fursuits that inspire me or at creatures that I find wonderfully interesting, and just by writing random little snippets sometimes ideas come from it.
I would say about 50% of my fursuit ideas come from writing random little stories of things that would make a cool fursuit.
Other than that, I make myself a nice big cup of tea, get something delicious like cake (no-one says no to cake lol) and with my tummy full and content I then get ideas pop in and problem solved :).
It is not wolves that are devils but man, for it is he who has condemned the wolf and created demons where there were none.
Now because of mans prejudice, the sons of Loki shall never know peace, and their howls will forever echo their sadness.
