Hi there, firstly good on you for seeking advice
, so many people give up after trying something and feel they aren't good at it.
There's no real right or wrong way to learn art skills, it depends on what your learning style is.
My advice is buy some good books and dvd's (or even look online for tutorials) learn and study anatomy and give yourself realistic goals, for example, a goal could be "today I will practice at least 30mins drawing and shading objects." etc.
It might sound pretty basic but shading is one of the prime factors of bringing a piece of art to life so take your time and get to learn about it.
Also, experiment with different media, if it's fun it'll encourage you to draw and study more
and look at artists that inspire you and take notes on what it is that attracts you to their pieces.
For me Adrian Smith and Clint Langley are two of my top inspiriations because their style is very similar to my own.
The beautiful thing about art is that you are the creator, you can make the impossible possible and create anything you desire.
The only limitations is your own imagination.
I wish you all the best on your art journey, and look forward to seeing some of your pieces
.
