I'm trying to improve my art because it's not perfect....
... yet >:3

And i'm concentrating on inking right now.
At the moment, i use paint tool sai and the linework/vector feature to make outlines of my sketches, then color them.
The problem i keep running into though is conveying the feeling of the sketch in the lineart and giving it dimention. I've been experimenting with a cross between the vector pen and the raster pencile...
What kinda inking techniques do you guys use?

All depends on what I'm working on,

Some drawings like pin-ups I ink the drawing with the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator CS4

When it comes to comics I ink traditionally with India Ink, Crow Quill Pen, and copic markers for smaller stuff. I then turn the inked lineart into digital lineart in Photoshop CS4 with threshold and clean it up from there.

I use Copic liners when inking on paper, and Adobe Illustrator (brush tool) for computer inking.

I only draw on the computer, and if I outline my character I use the
brush tool in photoshop.   :orbunny:

Smooth lines are something beyond my comprehension, and so I just use the original sketch-line-art directly.  :P

Sharpie pens are my best friend!! i love ink, but i don't have much more then just sharpies, yet they work fine for me.

Crow Quill inking can look /really/ cool,  but the slightest wrong move and the whole drawing is salvageable.  >..<
