I gots a deviantart account thing!  :D And I learned how to actually shade a little bit better! I love the lighten/darken tool...

Click here to view the deviantart!

And click here for my first picture with better shading!

I can also make cool looking hair with the lighten/darken tool. I'll put up a Halloween picture or two tomorrow, because I'm too lazy to today.

I think that is sooo cute!

May I suggest using thinner lines for your characters? Also some shadowing under your character to show he isn't exactly floating in the air?

You also may want to try working on getting your character more smoothly 'into' your background.

I love the shading too. Great improvement! Keep it up!

BTW, why didn't you put these on your Furtopian webpage? Just curious is all. :)

Because I'm too lazy to.  ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. And it is apparently down for matanence, so I might as well upload them to my webpage now.  ;)

Ah. Furtopia's forums were down for 5 minutes but the webpage accessibility never went down.

(giggles) You are welcome.

I'm going to upload the pictures to my site after I finish this picture...

And when you go to DeviantART it says it's down for matanence.

And what do you mean by "getting your character more smoothly 'into' your background?"

ah, ok. (giggles)

Blending it in so it looks like part of the picture. Like the shadowing underneath your character to make it look like it is on the grass.

Look at photographs that have people/animals in them and see how they 'blend' into their backgrounds. I know some artists do quite a good job blending their artwork with their photo sceneries.

Here are a couple examples of mine:

Finished piece of artwork on a photograph of clouds.

Step by step creation.

Finished piece of a tiger at his drawing board with a photograph of a park as the 'image' through his window.

A step by step creation.

A photograph of the "Smokey Mountains" on one of our trips to N. Carolina.

A panther reading a book with the "Smokey Mountains" as the photo background.

Hopefully these help.

I had seen other artists using photos for their backgrounds so I tried it myself. A lot of work. Those are the only ones I did. Perhaps in the future I may try some more.

I hope these pics and step-by-step descriptions help you, Hamu! Good luck!
