Why doesn't the local meteorologist use the term snow flurries anymore? Is it to avoid confusion with the thick dairy treat?

Why do all animals seem to have different names for the 2 main genders?
Like Rams and Ewes
Dogs and Biotches
Fox and Vixen
Tom and Cat?
Goose and Gander
Bull and Cow
Mare and Stallion
Sow and Boar
Why not she cow, he cow, or male cow, female cow etc?
Was someone just trying to make life harder?
Were they bored with life and wanted to invent "new" useless things?
And are there she-snake and he-snake pronouns?
And where the heck did the word gosling come from? A baby goose is a baby goose.
If these are short cuts, then heaven help kids and the uninformed as they learn the world.
Why not use basic building blocks.
she,he,cow,dog, big, small
she+cow+big = she is a big cow, that big cow is a she
small+he+dog.... same ideas as above

Because it's a place run by humans and even in the most well meaning and developed places any system built and designed by humans is prone to the same temptations and abuses, corruptions screw-ups as any other place.

I know Kay, I was moaning about the ubiquitous Prop-65 sticker on everything...which is in most states now.

Tuned into Uncle Kage's Winestream this weekend. He and Tien Long were drinking Sake from laboratory glassware. They were down to two bottles, and Kage asked me to pick a number between one and two. So I posted 1.5 in the shout box as a joke. Then "Okay, Number One." Tipsy mad scientists are not to be trifled with. That's the takeaway here.

Ever notice that when parking in an average parking lot, some drivers won't pull forward into the adjacent space. It's as if they expect to have their tires punctured. Then, they pull forward when leaving anyway. That is, unless another vehicle has parked in front of them.

Just realized that about one third of contemporary country hit songs involve trite colloquialisms, such as "I saw the light", "Bet your bottom dollar",and "She's got her father's money, her momma's good looks..."

One item. I remember where it was. I put it somewhere new. Still remember where it was and have no idea where i put it. I've done this all my life. I've realized this isn't a 'getting older' thing. It's more of a not learning from my mistakes thing.

Hi All,
Response to post above regarding different names for male/female animals:
Most of those animals have visible or behavioral traits that make it easier to distinguish male from female. Things like fishes and snakes, not so much.
Humans have this too. Females are called females or women. Males are called males or men.
Then there are animals that have different terms based on how old they are - for humans...baby -> toddler/infant -> child -> teen -> young adult -> adult -> old fart.
Ducks start out as ducklings. Chickens start out as Chicklings Chicks. Sheep start out as lambs. Frogs start out as tadpoles (albeit this is a special case!). Dogs start out as Doglings Puppies. Cats start out as Catlings Kittens. Horses have a tonne of different names - just ask someone from Equestria.
Here's a few new random thoughts for ya all:
The clouds and the sky are always above us, therefore we are always under the weather.
How accurate does something have to be for us to consider it true/right (eg - can we ever create a perfect cube? we can get super close to perfect by assembly atoms in a cube like structure, but atoms are not flat are they? so the surface would still have fluctuations...)
If I am rebuilding a car, and I replace every single part, nut, bolt, hose etc, is it still the same car? What about if I hand make every single bodywork panel and replace every panel? What about if I have to replace every part of the chassis...apart from one small section which is kept from the original car?
Objects that we say are red, actually do not "have" a colour. They are just really good at reflecting red light, and good at absorbing blue and green light.
Monitors can make any colour from RGB (Red Green Blue). Printers can make any colour from CMYK (Cyan Magenta Yellow Black). RGB are darker colours than CMY. This is because when you add lights of different colours together, it gets closer to white...but if you add inks of different colours together, it gets closer to black.
If the background shown on a monitor is white, having a blue picture on the monitor is not actually adding B light where the picture is. It is reducing the R & G light everywhere the picture is not.
Black paper is paper that poorly reflects visible light. You cannot print on black paper unless you first put a layer on the paper that is good at reflecting visible light (ie print white first).
When we touch something with our finger...are the atoms of our finger actually in contact with the atoms of the object we are touching? Or are they getting so close together that they are repelling each other with enough force to stop any closer movement?

You can buy parts on flea-bay to make a high powered solid state laser capable of burning through steel, and remove that stubborn stain on your teeth.
I am not joking, I just found parts to make a laser that would be illegal if sold as a complete unit. Hmm...

Until recently, I thought that evictions tended to happen to people on reality television shows. Yet it happened to my longtime next-door neighbors. The place was fixed up a few years ago. Their widowed mother was wheelchair bound and likely died a year or two later. The son divorced his wife, moved back from Wisconsin and just smoked and slacked off. The girl worked part time, stocking shelves at Meijer's and returning at odd times predawn.
One Friday, I return to see a small U-Haul van being loaded. They left a lot of stuff behind. There was an eviction notice taped to the door they don't use. I'm not sure how they could've missed it as someone was usually home during the daytime.

I've been taking glucosamine chondroitin with msm, type 1 and type 3 collagen, type 2 undenatured collagen, gelatin.
Knee pain reduced a whole lot. Knee function much improved. Still have cartilage damage from arthritis. I'm 7 year old dog.
My claws are affected too. There is a growth line on all of them, they are thicker and stronger there, it's amazing. No side effects.
Kneeling is still hard. Deep bends still problematic.
Was I just not eating enough of these things and I lost knee cartilage?
I was at the point of not being able to do stairs, walk, or bend.
I was told eating chicken sternum cartilage is best thing for me. Where to get this?

So far, Batman movies have featured the villains Catwoman, The Joker, Mr. Freeze, Two-Face, The Riddler, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, Ra's Al Ghul, and The Penguin. Could King Tut be in the works. They could get Steve Martin to play the role and a rendition of King Tut could be performed during the screenplay.
