Coronavirus vaccine.
« on: November 25, 2020, 12:48:20 pm »
In the last week or two, there has been exciting news that a vaccine may soon be available for the coronavirus. Both Pfizer and Moderna have developed vaccines that are said to be at least 95% effective.
But these as well as other vaccines may not be ready for full distribution to the American public for several more months yet as possibly more testing and verification needs to be done, as well as deciding who gets it first as well as how and where to distribute it.

But the big question remains: Will you get vaccinated?

I'm voting 'undecided' right now because while I will get vaccinated eventually I am not an early adopter of things. Much like new technology medicines can easily go awry by just small unknown variables. So I will wait. I will wait till all the kinks and the bugs are worked out and they get that effectiveness rating up a bit more.

I fully believe in the power of vaccines and I am anxious to get the covid vaccine but at the same time this virus isn't like the flu. Getting it once doesn't make you immune or resistant to reinfection. And I believe that even after, heck especially after, you should continue wearing your protection.

I figure the vaccine is like others and it contains the inactivated virus bodies of Covid-19.  So I will take the vaccine when they offer it to me.  I am not blindly trusting in .. anything... but I do believe the vaccine makers/scientists want to get it right, and they tested on animals and then people. And by the time I get it, since I will be one of the last to get it, other people will have been the test-bed for it.  So I figure by then I will know if it makes you grow a tail.  And if it does, I will get two vaccines as fast as I can.

Because I have to keep working through all of this I'll get the vaccine. Most likely before most people do. Not looking forward to it. It's already been reported you should expect to get sick right after the shot is given.

Well that makes sense since the whole "getting sick" aspect of a viral attack is your body's immune system kicking into gear and sounding the alarm. So naturally when you give yourself a dummy of the virus to get your immune system into combat readiness you'd expect to feel ill. After all, when the army runs training exercises and drills they don't exact go about it all casual like do they? No, they sound the alarms, they yell and scream and make ready like its the real thing.

I remember one of the last conversations I had with my father he said he wasn't worried about covid because "I haven't felt sick from anything in a long time so I figure I have a good immune system"
To which I just stared at him blankly thinking "Are you an idiot?"
And then carefully explained that not feeling sick at all when others around you are is more likely a sign of a weak immune system because all of the signs of sickness are your immune system locking the body down and going into red alert combat readiness to fight the invaders. So if you have none of that happening then you are basically like a fortress with the security system turned off and all the guards are napping.

The look on his face. *gasp*  :o
Priceless:D

I had a 7 way zoom meeting with family this thanksgiving.  We all each had 1 missing place at our tables to signify the ones who can't be here with us.   And we put our cellphone or laptop where the empty plate was.  Anyway,  my brother was able to join which was great,  and he was still very ill.  It's been 1 month now.

So I said to him,  at least you don't need the vaccine.  To which he replied,  umm you can get this over and over because you may not make am immunity to it.

So yeah,  I'd rather get the vaccine once or twice and never get full blown symptoms even once from the real virus.  I'll be glad to get my army on full alert and feel rotten,  because at least it goes away sooner than one month.

To SEE my brother looking so ill and to HEAR him still struggling to breathe is evidence of how strong this thing can be.
Thankfully he can walk around.  And he will be getting the vaccine when he is able.

I will absolutely get the vaccine, no question about it. I want to be able to put this whole thing in the past, and vaccines are the best way to do it.

Is this good or bad? You be the judge.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/08/politics/trump-vaccine-pfizer-coronavirus-executive-order/index.html
I dunno. I think we should prioritize our own healthcare workers and get this out to those who need it but at the same time shutting down any and all possibility for other countries to purchase it just smacks of the trump administrations 'screw you got mine' policy. Especially when other countries purchasing the vaccine could.....oh i dunno, help our economy out? I feel like this is a step in the wrong direction economically speaking. Sure it looks good to put america first but with other nations not even being given the option to buy from an american company it means they're going to buy vaccine from anyone else. And a lot of foreign money is gonna be boosting someone else's economy instead of ours.

But what should we expect from a man who couldn't turn a profit on a casino.

The Pfizer vaccine is getting shipped out today. But just remember, folks. It'll be many more months before you and I will get it. We probably won't recieve it till sometime in late Spring or in the Summer. The vaccine is going first to health care workers and seniors in long term care facilities.

Ok, so a little ranting... watched news today...

And apparently our country has just enough uneducated, ignorant fools who still fear vaccines such that we might not even get to herd immunity levels to protect those who can't be vaccinated.
Supposedly 1 in 5 refuse to take the vaccine, because it was"rushed". Do they also know this vaccine was computer assisted/ genetically engineered? And was working in the lab in months?  Do they also know that usual wait times to approve a drug are overly long as it is?
So science is a victim of its self again. I swear I want to live on a planet where the people actually think.
 x_x
The brightest minds worked long hard hours ensuring we can be safe and people act like total ignorant fools.
" I don't wanna,  cuz..." grow up people.

And for those who swear a religious exemption because something unholy would be in the body,  and body is a temple,  give it up.  We breathe in plutonium dust and dead dust mites as well as eat rodent hair in food. You never were a pristine temple. Your body is full of bacteria you can't live without, yet might kill another creature if they eat it.
Besides was your God so lame they couldn't engineer a body which can take on most challenges,  more so than a little poke?

Well, let this unholy,  dirty,  intelligent dog live on,  others can fade away.

I'm getting the vaccine.

 And one more thing....
I just read some conspiracy theories on the vaccine.

Some people think it uses, or is made from aborted fetuses,  while others think they will be injected with a tracking microchip?!

Really?!?

Do most people know how big the average RFID tracker is that is injected into pets? It's big enough to kill you if injected into blood stream.  That's why its safely put under lose skin only by a trained professional.  If doctors were injecting a microchip into people THEY WOULD KNOW because the needle is HUGE! And it makes a loud sudden pop as the RFID transponder is inserted.  And all that device does in a pet is hold a number which does not transmit by it's self.

And the claim about fetus use is so lame
The researchers used cloned stem cells as a stand - in for a body during lab tests.  This has been done since 1960's!

And lastly,  people who claim getting virus is safe since 99.97% live is not so.   Maybe 99.97% of a certain sampling of the population can show no adverse effects,  if you sample data in a cherry picking way to show what you want to see.
But in a large picture,  on average it is more like 100 out of 10,000 die.  And most who get the virus get sick feeling.  And many eho get sick have long lasting issues.  And I mean long,  like 9 months of pure fatigue.

Social media is apparently the playground for fools and the corrupt who aim to control them.  I have always hated social media platforms.  I sear each time I read something,  it just smacks of ignorance.  People don't even know how a vaccine works, yet they tell others the vaccine is made of fetuses and contains a microchip?!?

And yet people in 3rd world nations are dying from diseases that are preventable via vaccine?!? This ignorance can only come from the " educated" sci really are just pampered fools who are also entitled and now given a voice via social media.

please some one put me on a rocket to a better world.  This place is too stupid.
Does no once read technical literature or use reputable sources anymore?

The coronavirus vaccine rollout will be messy. Don't expect everything to go according to plan.

Jade while I share your frustrations at morons who will believe any stupid thing about a vaccine or technology, thinking that they'll have a tracking chip forcefully inserted is ridiculous since we all carry a tracker with us nearly 24/7 if you have a cellphone.
All I can say about the idiots is... screw 'em.
They're entitled to be stupid, they're entitled to let their stupidity kill them. I feel bad for them, I feel bad for their kids but I have spent too long yelling at stupid people trying to get them to not be stupid that it has made me numb and half insane.

So screw 'em. Some people just can't be stopped from drowning when they fully believe inhaling water will help them.

Jade, when you get older you will finally start laughing at the stupid. And start thinking of them as natures way of weeding the garden.

I having read anything about who and when but imagine medical and first responders will be the first to get vaxt. Not sure it folks like me will get it next or will have to wait till the general population gets it.

when you get older

They're already like 38 y/o. I myself am only 39. One doesn't have to be very old to realize the futility of trying to appeal to the logic of the illogical.

Just because a coronavirus vaccine was developed, approved, and is now being distributed does NOT mean people should stop wearing masks. Read below.
