new instruments....
« on: September 12, 2004, 03:13:03 am »
two days ago, I got a package in the mail....It was what I had ordered a week earlier....a sunburst a-style mandolin and a black acoustic dreadnought guitar....both for only $100....and the mandolin sounds great......the guitar is alot better than I expected too....best deal I ever got.....I'm gonna get most of my instruments over the internet from now on...That was the best hundred bucks I ever spent....

That's how I bought "Tex" my acoustic.  It was 60 bucks including shipping and my more affluent guitar playing friends have offered to buy it if I decide to upgrade (looking at a carvin at this time).

Oh as a side note the guy I bougt it from is named James Taylor, not THE James Taylor but it's nice to dream.

I was just got a $75 offer on my new acoustic guitar...that'd be great if the kid would buy it because I only paid $50...
I think the next instrument I will buy is a lap steel....I saw one for only $60 - new...wouldn't be the best, but since the neck is built into the body of the guitar, it wouldn't be all bent out of shape...I just need a cheap one to learn on......
oh, and I was just wondering...what kind of guitar is "tex?"

If you look at my profile picture I'm playing "Tex"  an Indonesian made black dreadnaut acoustic.  Thought it was funny a guitar from asia called a Texarcana.

I've always found black guitars appealing, I like the white trim....the only bad thing about black is that smudges and fingerprints show up more....

I've always like dark finishes on guitars too..
My epiphone sj is in the tobacco sunburst finish, and really looks nice when it's clean.

I currently have a Peavey Raptor Plus which is a great starter guitar but I'm upgrading to a newer one.  From the looks of my dad's attitude, I might just be getting it.

It's an ESP Xtone Paramount PC-2V Archtop semi-hollow electric guitar with gold hardware, official bigsby vibrato (not sure what that means but it looks awesome) see-thru red sunburst, abalone fretboard inlays, and Seymor Duncan Jazz pickups.  It's a jazz sorta guitar, semi-hollow for that cool sound.  Most of all, it just looks like something I'd play.  Lemme get the link....

check out some of the deals on this website, I'm saving over 200 dollars and it's brand new with lifetime warranty!  Also, the other guitar I was debating on buying is the same quality, but slightly differend body style, and brown sunburst finish.  Here's that one's link

Now I just need some cash for an amp.....
I hate mondays...

and the other days too.

That's quite an expensive instrument....looks sweet.....I bet it sounds awesome....I'd kill to be able to afford something like that.....oh, and btw, vibrato is what makes the sound go bawawawawawa.....

Funny, I had a Peavey (T-60, way before your time) as my electric guitar before I finally got to upgrade as well.

That's a beautiful looking guitar.  I always liked the way the semi-hollow bodies looked.  Good luck, hope you get it.

OH gotta love those ESP guitars Just remember one thing hollow  and semi hollow bodies feedback at high volumes but it's the sound chambers that give it a distintive sound.  Sweet looking guitar and the bigsby is realy nice but they do have a way of slipping out of tune if you divebomb them too much.  I have been lusting after thise one for a while but sooner or later I will be buying  My dream guitar.

Congrats. Yeah buying online is less expensive and avoids added cost of taxes. Most of the online stores do free shipping on orders over $200 or $300. Buying online is my norm too. Even for basics like strings & cables.

My latest aquisition is a BC Rich "Beast" bass, NJ seires. Saved about $300 by buying it online.
Enjoy living.
