Music Updates
« on: October 04, 2004, 12:13:39 am »
This will be my first post here.  I started this so I could keep track of songs I have made, or songs anyone else has.  Just tell what the name is, how you made it (computer, MIDI, recording, Live, etc) and leave a link to the song so we can all listen to it.

So far I have only two songs, both of which are unfinished.  I made them completely in FL Studio 4, so they sound cheesy sometimes.  I plan to actually record my song "Metal" with real guitar and hopefully some drums and bass if I can find a person that does that.

http://www.aussieroo.furtopia.org/Music/

That is the link to both my songs.  I plan to rename both of them too, once I finish them.  Any suggestions or anything, just say so!

Hey AussieRoo,

I listened to the songs on your site and they both have potential.  Was that the FL Slayer synth used for the guitar on metal?  You got a pretty good sound out of it.

I found the song Trancelated the more interesting of the two, since it had more variation.  The arp pattern in Metal works well, but there needs to be a few more variations in what you play to keep interest going for 3 plus minutes.  Don't feel bad, A lot of the music I write has the exact same problem.  It's easy to notice something when it is something you do as well. ':p'

The notes in parts of Trancelated seem out of key at some places.  I'm not sure if that was on purpose or not.  It didn't sound like you were changing keys at these times because of what was going on in the background.

Again, I think you got some good stuff here.  The only other tweaks I would suggest is perhaps upping the volume on the percussion and bass in the mix, especially in the Trancelated song since driving bass and drums is big part of that genre.

Keep at it, you definitely got talent and some good ideas.

As for my music, I think you've already checked out my site,
Drake's Den: Music.  I'll probably be putting up some new music in a couple of weeks as I'm working on entries to two more contests at the moment.  I'm also putting the finishing touches to a redesign of the graphics and layout of my site, and that should be up shortly.

Well me and my mate formed a band a couple weeks ago... We just started it for fun. Back in my Australian History class (BOREING! ) My teacher was on about conscription and basicly it was a "lottery of death" , me any my mate both looked at each other "dude, if we ever make a band we SO have to call it that!" and thus Lottery of DEATH was born! '<img'>

Basicly our music is just all done on computer and we record guitar/drum/bass/keyboard riffs and the singing (well screaming) and just use ACID pro to create the song.

We've buggerd around with album art for our new album "Your numbers next." (my sig) and some other pics. We are planning on making a music video soon to our very first single , "Drowning in babies blood". Its going to be like CKY meets slipknot... good stuff! '<img'>
I'm planning one cool stunt for it: I'm going to go to the servo and get one of those cheap butt baby doll things and then get a few condoms and fill them with tomato sauce and minced beef and pack as many as I can inside the doll, Then stick a 150 gram ANALWAX* charge in the middle '<img'>
Detonate it inside a room that is completly white and you'll get a real neat effect!

Oh I'm rambleing , so back to the songs
Currently we've got 3 finished songs , 1 beta version and a preview
Drowning in babies blood - Finished
Spo0n - Finished
A sunny day in happy land - Finished
80's crap - beta version
Mars attacks - Preview
I don't have any place to host them so maybe somefur could help me out?

p.s. These songs are REALLY heavy and have got lots of screaming and stuff in them , but the screaming is damn funny so they are worth getting. This band thing aint serious and its all just for a laugh (taking the piss out of those REALLY heavy bands)

* ANALWAX is a real explosive ( Ammonium Nitrate, ALuminium and Parafin WAX )

Aussieroo:  Interesting stuff, there!  Laidback cool, yeah!

Drake:  *NOW* I remember where that Surf Messiah song came from.. It came on my playlist one day, and I'm like, "what the heck, this is a weird song.  It's catchy, but I don't know if I'm offended or not!  hehehe"

P_Z:  I couldn't get your modfile to work..  Not sure why.  Man, Modplugtracker...  I had to learn that prog once.  It frusterates me 'cause I can't catch on to it!  I've done stuff in it, but it wasn't good..

Lottery of DEATH:  Wow, I'm frightened.  Hehe.. Mars Attacks was interesting though, after my heart palpitations ended.  =^_^=;;;

As for me..
Yeah I've done lotsa crap.  http://www.kattywampus.com

Something weird I did the other day, though, was remix my own song, "Purrhaps," which is Jazz/ Newjack Swing-ish, and turn it into ...well... quite the opposite.

Clip of Original "Purrhaps"

Purrhaps #42

The 2nd one is still GMIDI so if your soundcard sucks butt, it's gonna sound like crap.

Both were done in GMIDI in Anvil Studio.  The first is just converted to MP3 so you can hear it the way I do.
NYA!  =^_^=

Your song Lottery of Death is great, I can't help but smile listening to it.  I'll have to see if my friend likes it.

BTW....the intro guitar to it, the solo part....WHAT game is that from, I have it on the tip of my tounge, but I can't remember it....is it one of the kirby games?

Kattywampus: Yeah the mars attacks recording (the start half) was my friend andy , he obviosly just watched the movie and recorded that for some unkown reason! but hey it came in userful!

AussieRoo: What song is the solo guitar in you are talking about? I don't think any of our guitar is from games  ''

P_Z: Nah lol , its just me being a fool with the mic and then editing my voice to make it sound wierdo , though it does sound like someone getting strangled!!

Im currently working on our next to songs , switchbalde symphony and DESTROY (which im sure you all have heard the preview! )
Ill make a new thread once a couple more songs are done!

Kattywampus - Don't be offended.  The other guitarist in the band wrote the lyrics and he is a devout Christian.  The lyrics are not meant to mock Christianity, just to point out that many people seem to have a view of Christ that doesn't match his actions in the bible.

I listened to Purrhaps.  The MP3 clip definitely sounded better on my laptop at work.  It makes me think of happy anime background music, but then I've been watching the Tenchi Moyu series recently.

P_Z - There is still some issues with your links.  I was able to download the song driving by deleting the first part of the link in my browser address bar, I wasn't able to download the second song at all.

Driving: Pretty good, especially since you are just starting out.  I could see this playing as a loop as the background for video game.

X.T.I.N.C.T - Death metal still lives.  *Shakes his head*  I like heavy metal, but never got into more thrash, speed metal parts of it.  Still, you guys can play.  That's definitely evident from what I heard.

Thanks for sharing guys.  I should have some new stuff up by the end of the month myself.  I'm taking part in a contest where you need to create a song using all non-musical sounds.  It's quite a challenge, but I'm beginning to like how my entry is shaping up.

I played Kirby's dreamland on an emulator, the ending boss is where that tune came from.  It may be a little bit different in your song, but it still sounds really cool.  Odd kind of distortion on your guitar, makes it sound crazy.

Heh, it WAS for a video game! I wanted to feature it in my own some day, but it sounded more like a racing game music so it didnt fit in with the theme.

What song are you talking about? A lot of my songs run on guitar loops so could somefur point out the name of this mysterious song for me  '<img'>
Oh yeah , today I finished Switchblade Symphony , Our best work yet I belive but I'm only going to upload it to my site once a few more are done! Also we did a introduction type thing for our first track for the album (think disclaimer on ixnay on the hombre by offspring)
Give it 3 days or so and 2 more songs and the intro will be up!

EDIT: I worked on it quite a bit more last night, added about 30 more seconds to it.  Sounds a lot better now.

Well, I can't say I'm a musician. Music is the way for me to have a rest. I've been writing PC music for 2 years by now but only a bit more than a year intensively (yet not so intensively - in my spare time, free from everything). You can find my music page at http://www.notrademarks.furtopia.org.

Majority of the songs I write in ModPlug Tracker. Only one from this webpage is written with FL Studio 4 which I usually use for making samples for IT's instruments.

Yay for modplug tracker and all the trackers! Ray of Hope was the best one of all, it had the most melody of all, but it still gets too repetative, and too much techno. I say you should do more less-effects, more melodic songs like that.

Released a new song - Enchanting Simplicity. Just a short piece of house or something like that. Trying to be more melodic '<img'>
