Title: OOC RP discussion (Open for anyone to use)
Post by: HazardJackal on July 25, 2013, 08:55:10 pm
I've got an idea... how bout we start a short RP where we have to play as eachothers characters?  It'd be pretty fun, i think.  Anyone interested?

That's deffinately... Different, Trenyth... Is it just to see if anyone can play each other's characters as well as their original owner?

Kind of like a body switching thing or just complete control? I share the same concern as Sledge though. It sounds like a good idea if we could do it well enough...

Complete control, with correction as necessary.

Not sure i am familiar with them.

No, nobody will play them quite as well as their creators... it's more just to see what will happen.

It's deffinately interesting... I'm kinda reluctant to hand over control of any of my characters to anyone else, even for just one RP...

*Hands you a game controller*
Okay, so you use the sticks to steer, the trigger to kill, and the buttons do stuff!

Go right ahead, use anyone, i wanna see how much you guys get them.

Not related to this RP, but i got a challenge for you guys: Make a character as you listen to a song, letting the music and lyrics shape them.  Ive gotten some great results before.  I've been using 90s grunge music.

I use usually epic music...... But it turns out some, ah, questionable people, or those that start out noble and become corrupted in the first thirty posts of an RP..... But it works, extremely well.

Well, i'll be totally honest here; i'm not a huge fan of city life/school life style RPs.  I much prefer adventure or story driven style RPs, preferably with a fair amount of combat.  I'll try it out though, just not sure who to use...

Well, this is sort of a story driven RP, it even has some magic, and its sort of dark in a way. But if you don't wanna try it, that's fine. I got other ideas, though.

This seemed interesting, If it's still on, I'd be totally up for it. The only problem is, Nobody will ever actually know the characters secrets and underlying thoughts. But it should be fun. I like it ^_^

Well, i say we do a simple WWII militaristic RP, because it's relatively simple.  Any other ideas are welcome, and encouraged.

I could defiantly do this. Would need to think which character to use seeing as I don't hand Blades over very easily....

And to respond to Trenyth's challenge, One of my characters, Mira was inspired by the song 'New Kid In School'

The RP boards are a mess, and it's saddening to see it like this. As many of us have said before, we need to get this place running smoothly, and i agree.  However, I say we lay down some ground rules, to avoid dead zones like right now.  These don't have to be set in stone laws that can't be broken, they should be more like guidelines for how to improve a RP.  Here are a few of my concerns and suggestions:

1:  This is a big concern of mine, and as far as i can tell, a big reason for the lack of activity, AND quality of our recent RPs.  Too many players.  I'm not saying we should be turning people away to keep the numbers low, but for certain types of RP, it is difficult to support large groups of players.  Having a large group often causes problems in two ways, the first being the fact that if someone goes AWOL, the whole RP grinds to a halt until they get back.  Large groups also tend to make the RPs chaotic and difficult to follow, due to the massive lineup of characters.  Still lets make sure this doesn't lead to a closed community of people who won't accept new players just to keep the party small, though know you guys, i doubt that will be a problem.

2:  A player should not spread their grubby little fingers down EVERY throat.  What i mean by this is that a player shouldn't join every RP on the board.  Fist off, they will overextend themselves and be able to pay less attention to each RP they are in, but more importantly, should that person go missing, even for a short time, all RPs in question will be held up by their absence.  A good example of both these problems would be Sledge; he was in most every RP on the board, and look what happened once he went AWOL.

3:  Another issue i've noticed is how often people will rush their post in order to react to a situation before somebody else.  Not only does this lessen the quality of the RP by creating simplistic and rushed posts, it's also an excellent catalyst for starting an argument.  One way to help dampen this problem would be to have the DM set down some rules (and when required, in game reminders) of how to respond to this situation.  Let me give you an example:

Kazek and Gnarko are playing a game of cards.  Kazek seems to have the upper hand, but Gnarko has sets down four aces. Kazek has an ace in his hand, so he knows that Gnarko cheated.

Here is what i see as a typical response, from the player in Kazek's situation:

"You're cheating!" He pulls out his revolver and shoves it in Gnarko's face. "I should'a seen you for the dirty snitch you are" He pulls the hammer back and growls.

This responce is unfair, for the player of Gnarko had no chance to react.  The player may say 'But Gnarko would have flipped the table into Kazek's face at the first sign of trouble!'  And so a time wasting argument would ensue, and the DM would have to get involved.  In most cases, all three parties would walk away from this angrily.  The response is also all action, no detail.  Details are important to set the scene and better convey characters.

Now, here is an example of a much better response:

Kazek was pleased with the current turnout of the match, he had been on a role, and due to his opponents lack of skill, soon he would walk away significantly richer <"Heh, this sucker just don't know how to play...  Once i get mah moolah, i can bail out jimmy from the jail, and we'll be back on our way to rob them wagon trains..."> The smug grin on his face dropped however, when he saw the four aces hit the table.  A fire began to rage behind his eyes, and his claws began to dig into the wooden table. <"I should'a known that lout was a dirty cheat! He's gonna regret ever setting foot in this saloon!">  Kazek's paw shot towards his revolver, quite ready to blow this scaled scumbag's puny little brains out.

This response is better twenty-fold, if not more.  Why?  One:  It goes into much more detail, which not only helps convey the story, but also describes the more subtle aspects of the characters and environment.  Two:  It describes the feelings of the character both through his thoughts, and his actions.  This helps define the character, make him more interesting, and improves the feel of the RP significantly. Also, notice that Kazek's thoughts helped explain other events in the story; this is helpful to keep everyone on the same page, and in all reality, make the character's thoughts realistic Three: It give the other player time enough to respond with his own actions, and if this player does the same, OH MY GOD, where did the argument go!?  Another bonus of this, there can be just as much action and just as intense situations, but without the chaos that so often clouds our RPs.

I mean, go back and reread them; just look at the difference! THIS is what determines if an RP is awesome, or sub-par.  When the staff said that the RP board is bland and boring, they were both right and wrong.  While our RPs are pretty cool, the stuff they'd been used to was probably so much better.  If we can create stories just as enthralling, i know they'd have more respect for us, and being respected feels good.

Now that we know what to aim for, lets show them staff what we's capable of once we know what the hell we's doin!

[IMPORTANT!]
Okay, i got some bad news...  In order for me to be able to get my RPs going, i'll need to put one of them on hold, as they're too much for me to manage all at once (especially with things going on outside of the forums).

I need everyone to take a vote, for which one's for me to focus on.  You must vote for two RPs, but you can't vote twice for one.  You do not have to be part of one of my RPs to vote (This would include staff members); if there's anyone else like me, you may also be following RPs you are not taking part in, and i will count your votes as well.

A Disturbance on the Frontier: 0

Poke'mon RP: 1

The Pit Fights (Season 2): 0

I get that the board has been very quiet but it's not like much has changed, It's just that summer is over now and many people don't have the same amount of free time that they had before.

Thank you all for NOT voting, i really appreciate it!  Now, since you guys obviously don't give a carp about which ones will be going on hold, i'm going to do you all a favor by being a total jerk and putting them ALL on hold.  Not like it will change anything, as all three have been moving like molasses for that past few... i lost count now, and that's just sad, this place  used to be so lively and exiting, and now it's like watching paint dry, but you actually expect it to do something, just to be disappointed.  So, while you guys all sit around and hope for something to happen, i will take great pleasure in doing schoolwork, and hopefully i'll finish my preparations for my RPs, but knowing me i'll probably just procrastinate and play video games.

Good day.

Heh, nothing to see here folks... move along...

Good day.

You know before you create an angry long post, It is advisable to give people more than one day to vote. Also, I'm tired of saying this but, Summer is over, People are busy at work, at school, at college. The board has not died forever, People will come back when they get the time. You are all making it out as though everyone has deserted the board on purpose.

I would vote but I don't believe I am a part of any of those RP's. I will try and post as often as I can, And join a few games if it will liven up the board for you all. ;) Just let me know which ones I should join.

Ok still up for pokemon and stuff i am also a bit on trenths side on too many rps and posts go fast a person who may be gone at work, school or something comes back to three new pages of one liner posts which basically a. One liners should be banned period for someone to spend time and make a nice post to be responded with a one liner is annoying and feels as if person responding doesnt care. Or how they one line a fight or auto hit....or say they did this and this is how you react. Yeah no

B. The person also gets annoyed cause they were basically forgotten as the rp went from 4 people to 2 one lining with no rhyme or reason. So a post order might be nice to prevent double posts before everyone had time to react

On another not this being rp and if you post something that defies all logic like when me, becky, mp and others did that one rp together where mp took everyone without ability to say otherwisw and ignored a post of them leaving area...to place where they couldnt use magic no escape till they did his bidding etc etc and kept doing with last bit of strength he did this and passes out rhen post right after same to prevent stuff.

Note dont know how he rps now was a note dont be offended mp just example

Post by: T-Yoshi45 on September 21, 2013, 05:02:26 pm
I think the three line minimum is a good rule to follow. Believe me, I have been guilty of shortposting in RPs but sometimes less is more. i'm not justifying one-liners by any means but the length of the post depends on the setting, style, and pace of the RP cause there are times when shorter posts work like more action-centric RPs or conversations and other times where great detail is needed like more story-driven RPs or intros.

alright, i've made up my mind, and i'm going to stick with it.  Ignore the whole thing from above, here's what going to happen.

Pit fights and Poke'mon thing are on hold, as i don't have as much planned out for them.

Disturbance on the Frontier is going to be (Re)started by the end of tomorrow.

Players:
T-Yoshi
BeckyL96
MysticalPrince

Sarngier, Skyfire, and Acheron, your still be in, but as the three of you are currently absent (For various reasons) I will start without you.  I already have some things for how to get you into the party mid-game.

Oh yeah, and to keep things sane, we will be meeting OUTSIDE the bar this time.  It would take far too long to explain all the chaos going on in there anyway...

I had an idea; what if we RPers had a (bi)monthly vote, and give out awards for things like 'favorite character' or 'best plot twist' or 'most likely to decapitate'?  I think it would be some good fun, and who knows, it might create some constructive competition?

Anyone interested in trying this out?

I know sky mentioned two types of RPs but I do feel however that there is a third type worth mentioning

Semi-Plotted RP: An RP with some set events and a planned-out ending but allows for smaller sub-plots to be created and played out by any participant.

Example: Fading Hope: 20 Weeks

A middle ground. Yeah, that makes sense.

Another nice thing to define might be the types of DMs, and what kind of DM is the best kind.

That is more a matter of personal opinion... We don't want to become a bunch of fascists who only accept 'the pure breed'  Maybe i'm overreacting a bit, but i really hate being pigeonholed or being plastered with 'names'

I don't necessarily mean a best way to GM. Everyone has their preferences. I just mean that it might be nice to have a list of things that are generally good to do, and things to generally avoid. I just worded it badly >_> my apologies.

It's okay, i'm just a bit sensitive to that.  Anyway... somthing gives me the feeling that very few of you have read through all the pinned topics at the top of the page.  They are very informative on how to be a good DM and what to avoid.

OKAY, so now that that's cleared up, i have a question.  Normally i just come up with half baked ideas and paste posters for them all over the walls for you to gawk at.  I'm hoping to stop that.  I have a few ideas floatin around in my fishbowl, and i want some opinions on what sounds promising, and what does not.  I'll then chose one of em and do some focused planning on it for a week or two, so there is an actual movie, and a decent one, not just a preview.  here are a few of my better ideas.

Ye Ol' West RP, but with my signature cynical touch.  Have a half-baked plot that needs additional cooking.

Something apocalyptic, but in a non-traditional format.  Got a few ideas for this.

An investigation/crime scene sort of RP, kinda like Bones, or The X-Files.  I got plenty of ideas for this one, just need to iron em into place.

I also plan on avoiding one of my bigger mistakes, which is not explaining the rules completely until the last second
If anyone else has something to add, or an idea of their own, go ahead and put it out there.
So please, if anyone has any input or interest, let me know.

We've got a couple things running. Damocles is happening, as is the moon one. And utterly incompetent adventures is starting to get rolling. But all the same, I could always use more RP in my life. Out of the three thingies that you listed, I'd cast my ballot in for the apocalyptic one. You know how much I love a good apocalypse. Although at the same time, if you can do it right, the investigative one sounds pretty amazing. Hmm, dunno.

Alright then, i'll take that one off the list.  Here are the current options.

Something apocalyptic,
but in a non-traditional format.  Got a few ideas for this.

An investigation/crime scene sort of RP, kinda like Bones, or The X-Files.  I got plenty of ideas for this one, just need to iron em into place.

Pit fighting, Season 3, Already started reworking this one.  This time around it will be more pit fights and logical combat scenarios, fewer mazes and tortured memories, and less of the just plain unnecessary and horrid things that come out of the darker corners of my mind.

Once we have an answer, i'll get to work on really planning things out for the first time in my life.  This should result in a more enjoyable RP.  Regardless, don't expect anything to be starting any time soon.

If i don't get any votes, i'm doing the pit fights. i did a significant chunk of work, actual WRITTEN work last night (as opposed to mental work)

Scrambled, drowned, and coffin. they all point to the apocalypse. However the waffles are just because I like them!

Or we could do some classic zombie action!

And when i say classic, i mean they aren't even zombies, just people dressed up like zombies.

the crime one does sound interesting. you could even do it in episodes. when one murder gets solved, you could start another episode. my vote goes to the crime-scene one.

I like the detective one too, it could be like LA Noire or perhaps Heavy Rain so i'll vote up the crime one with pit fights as my second choice.

COME ON!! you know you want classic zombies! :D

@ Sledge; Yeah, that's sorta how i planned it would work.
Here's the tally.

Something apocalyptic: 1

An investigation/crime scene sort of RP: 3

Pit fighting, Season 3: 1

And eww :v I hated heavy rain. Not for the story, that was great. I just hated how it was literally impossible to lose.

Jus a queek update on... stuff.

Weeell, when my laptop went kaploot a few days ago, i sorta lost my main means of working on the RPs, so that obviously slowed thingies down some bit. Diss may be a bit of a problem for awhile, but it's working NOW anyway, so we'll just have to wait and see. Anyway, i DID get a good deal of work done for the pit fights, which is good.  Gotta new ground ruleset for you guys (and more importantly. for myself) that should keep things from going utterly out of controlsies. I also deed a bit of nogginraiding regarding the ol west RP, but i've decided to keep that one on the shelf for awhile.  Sooooo, judging by the votes, i get the feeling that i'm supposed to feel obligated to work on the X-Files/Bones/CSI sorta thing.  So yeah, i'll get a crackin on that when i can.  Got some ideas persploogin round all over, just need to nail em into the ground so i can work on em more.  Occasional updates will be given when possible.

Oh yeah, and i've bean feelin betterish physically the past weekish time-frame, so expect soom more productivity from me (As in going from one word an hour to about a sentence every 30 minutes.  Hey, it's still an improvement!)

Right, so i've already started collaborating with'a friend on the investigatory RP, so espect some news on that in the near future.  If anyone wants to PM me a char card for this one, go right ahead.  I'm not e'tirely sure for the specs on the characters, so don't spect immediate approval.  I'm also limiting it to 2 main characters.  Other people can join in. but'll be playing supporting roles, and may not be featured at all times.  I'm looking forward to gettin back to my role as puppet-mas- I-i-i mean DM... heh.

For those of you looking forward to the pits, i'll let you know that i have some pretty ambitious plans this time round, though not NEARLY to the extent as "A Disturbance on the Frontier."  I haves a new classification system for the various arenas, so espect to be in'a more traditional combat scenario, and less mirror-mazes and cursed, haunted towns full'a dead people (and the gratuitous amount of references to other RPs.)  Like d'uther one, you's free to PM me a char card at any time.

I'm looking forward to, erm, working, with you guys... eh heh...

UPDATE: 12/12/13

Gotten a fair deal of work done concerning my RPs, and a few other projects of mine that i'm sure would bore the heck out of you lot.

The investigatory RP is probably on hold , as i've had no real time to collaborate with my friend.

Pits Fights, Season 3 is chugging along smoothly, abet rather slowly.

A Disturbance on the Frontier is moving like molasses, but is technically still moving, so getting there little by little.

The Lowest Class has been dug back up and is finally getting some written work done for it.

Dug around in the data pile and recovered Adventure0001, a play-style story i started a long time ago.  Irrelevant to most of you.

New character list, fully fleshed out, more extensive, and better organized.  Once again, pretty irrelevant to the likes of you.

So yeah, that's the gist of it so far.  I'll cone back to update when i have any new significant progress.

UPDATE 12/26/13

No laptop, but my mind has been wondering like a hyperactive child in a industrial grade candy store.  That is to say, going nowhere at a breakneck pace.  If I could get this stuff written down in an efficient manner, I might ACTUALLY be getting somewhere with this stuff, but alas I am too lazy to use paper and pencil (if only for the difficulty of editing)

Still, i've gotten some stuff worked out in my head, relevant stuff too.  I have very much come to a sound conclusion regarding my RPs; quantity reduces quality.  The only two RPs that I've been thinking about are A Disturbance on the Frontier, and Season 3 of the pit fights.  To any of you who are waiting on another RP I may have had planned (pokemon RP, the lowest class) you're just gonna have to wait and hope (though there may be little merit to the hope part)

So anyway, what i'm trying to get at here is that IT COULD BE AWHILE before anything noteworthy comes along.

UPDATE: 1/12/2014

So, my laptop is back up.  The thing thats gonna happen first is Season 3, but yet again, i'm at a stump.  Guess who read over Furry Saddles for the 7th time?  Exactly.  That RP (was) awesome, and i wish i could somehow reproduce it in my own RP (as it's quite obvious that hardly anyone can manage a multi-man RP anymore.)  Problem is, since i can't trust anyone else to take charge, i have to do it myself, and if i do something, i'm gonna go whole hog on it.  Going whole hog takes time, as you can see i have nothing to show you from 4+ months of work.  I also fear that once i start the RP, people are going to lose interest, and my time will have been wasted.  what should i do?  Oh right, nobody cares, and i don't blame them.

Bottom line is, i'm still frustrated, and don't have enough motivation.  Good to know that some things never change.

I have an idea for a system so that you don’t have to conform entirely to another person’s actions.  When you describe an action that effects another player-character, place multiple cutoff points in the action.

For example:
[Garbles walked over to Zerik. (C1) Zerik was in a very bad mood, as one of his friends was slain in a recent battle. Garbles spoke: “You know, you could always eat him” (C2) “He’s dead, and that meat ‘s goin to waste just putting it under the dirt” (C3) “You know, where I come from, people eat us all the time!  I see no problem with just takin a bite out of a guy when he walks past, ya know?” (C4) “So anyway, if you not gonna eat it, can I have it, I’m getting hungry.”]

At C1, Zerik could respond to Garble’s walking over to him.  At C2, the very thought of eating the dead, let alone one of his friends, could infuriate him, causing him to react.  If Zerik reacts at one of these cutoff points, all the dialogue past it would be irrelevant, since it would have never happened. If you had made this response without the ability to cut it off, you would force the other player to play their character in an unrealistic manner.  Granted, I know some people already cut others off during things like this, but I want a better system that will reduce the level of these pointless time-wasting arguments we seem to be so fond of. I’m not quite sure how I’m going to get this to work, but I think it’d be worth a try, or we could come up with a better system.

It's a bit complex, i know, but i feel that this is a problem that needs to be addressed; i don't care how we fix it, but it would be nice if we could come up with a solution.

Sooo.... I'm a bit... disgruntilafyed, if you could say that.  Let me cut to the chase; I'm considering taking a hiatus, but i'm on the fence.  So, here's my proposal: if you want me to stay, say so.  If i have three or more votes by the end of tomorrow, i'll stay.  Otherwise, i'll take a break from this madness, not sure for how long (though i assure you that i will come back.)

And another thing.

If i were to do what was essentially a single-player RP, would it go here, Furry Role-Playing, or to Furry Story Telling?

I'm hoping i can get an answer to this, because it could be quite relevant in the near future.  And yes, i have done many of these before i joined here.

Yeah, i know... like you.

Just kidding, but you wouldn't have to worry about that with me, seriously.  I'm not going to throw freaking MONTHS of work out the window.  It's not like i'm ever on any other site to RP, and none of my tangible friends have much interest in following me as DM; you're all i've got, and i'm not going to give that sort of thing up.  Even if i'm not reliable or good with time, organization, planning... or much of anything, if there's one thing i am, it's loyal.  I'd never ditch you people, for anything (Well... maybe a lifetime supply of ice cream...)

Even if i stay, don't expect me to be very active.  I've been getting alot of work done on my GLORIOUS character list, and i have a single-player RP in the works.  I'll do my best, but i have trouble with getting motivated.

Blast; my friends care about me.  Grrr.... this is vexing; i'm not actually ABLE to follow though very well...  Fine, be that way; i'll keep wasting my time staring blankly at a screen wishing i could get my act together and post for my RPs.

But it is good to know that you people want me here, that means a lot to me, truly.

In other news, the character list is coming along well, and if i can keep going steadily at the current rate of progress, it should be done by the end of the month, maybe even earlier.

The 1 x 0 RP is starting to take shape, and i'm sure it will be thoroughly enjoyable for all the players that will take part.

So, despite the fact that i haven't posted yet, i am working on the pits, both the preliminaries and Season 3.  On the side, i've been working on a side project with (need a suitable nickname for friend) for awhile now, actually.  Character list has been going great, and i've been working quietly on the old west RP as well.  For once something meaningful is getting done, but i don't have any tangible results that i can show you.  Over the weekend, i'm hoping i can get some more work done, work that is actually relevant to my fellow RPers.  In the meantime, i'll continue work on the character list, and hopefully crank out a post or two for the preliminaries.

EDIT: Just reread 'A Titanic Tale' and i think, if i have the time, i'll consider a reboot of it.  It actually could have gone fairly well were it not for... yeah... a razorwire decision.

Thought I may post up my future RP plans while I got a minute..

Current time:

Kings and Queens
Soul Carriers
try to get Fading Hope: 20 Weeks back off the ground and finished

Regarding future...

Crossover RP: Needs some more refinement still but I got a lot brewing for it at the moment...gonna be a good one when it's ready.

Character Swap RP: I've decided for this RP, it will be a resident evil theme around a rescue team trying to escape from an abandoned resort. More of an experimental RP than anything else but hey...

Military RP: Just came up with this one, set around the end of the 25th century it will revolve around the stories of soldiers who were experimented on to create the perfect soldier and their rebellion against those who altered them, to become more than just victims of circumstance...

I figured i'd toss this up here because Trenyth was kind enough to have this open for all. For starters i would say i'm fairly excited for your new charrie list as well (yes i actually read it) Secondly i'm going to get back to my rp origins (the style i excel at) and was curious who would be up to a psychological space horror rp? (Because Space is my space in which i excel in that space. And, horror is something i'm horrifyingly good at)

I don't mind Trenyth go ahead. Also on a personal note, since Fading Hope's wrapping up soon, I've decided my next rp project will be the military RP which I mentioned earlier. The crossover rp still needs works, and I need to plan out the character-swap RP a little more gotta research some classic resident evil for that one.

Nah, it's cool, there will be plenty of chaos and confusion, but there will be even more fun!  Once summer starts, the RP board is going to explode like never before! .....or maybe slightly less than the last one, but it will be a time of plenty nonetheless!

After all, when you've lost everything to live for, what more can they take?...

Here are the characters i'm making available for the character swap RP.

Ghar
Meak
Kazek
Zerik
Temya
Kyo
Jenzar
Rem
Gnarko
Mord
Gnargle
Kraz
Seyla
Desmodious

No, really, any of them.  It's not like i don't hold (most of) them dear, but this is what the RP is about, right?  I'll get the descriptive stuff up once there's an OOC.

EDIT: I'm coming up with some new rule ideas.  I'll be testing them out in my next RP, and i have a good feeling that it will really help keep it from exploding into a massive fireball that crashes and burns its way straight into the hall of failure.  If you haven't noticed, at least 50% of all RPs have done at their end, particularly most of mine.  So yeah, just talking to myself again, because i doubt anyone will end up reading this anyway.

Something just occurred to me... what if we had a couple of communal characters, as in, multiple people are involved in their creation, and they are owned collectively by all parties involved...  So basically, any of those players can throw the character into anything they want, and maybe even have multiple people playing the same character in a single RP, though they would obviously have other characters of their own at the same time...  A really strange idea, i know, but i thought it would be at least worth throwing out there.

EDIT: To think i expected a response...

I was thinking more just an idea, we WILL co-DM at some point, but i'm not sure now's the best time.  Still... we can plot some evil things beforehand, yes?

Yes, yes... torment... so many ways to torment a man's mind...  Any thoughts, friend?

Two new rules that will be implemented into any RPs of mine from here on.  At the begining of your post, you need to state the character's general location, every time you post.  For each post you will also set the date.  Here's an example:

_________________________________________

August 23rd Midday
-----------------

(Dustrock)

Kyo tore the bounty off the board to examine it.  It showed a badger with a mangled face and a nasty scar over his left eye. [Bazgo ‘Smite’ Renik, 75$ dead, 125$ alive.]

[Kyo to herself, concerned,]: “Looks a bit tough for me to bring a rookie... but this guy needs to go down now, and he isn’t going to wait around for us to kill him...”

=======================

(Brinewood)

The sheriff didn’t take kindly to being called a pig. He is proud to be a hog, and refuses to be mistaken for anything else!

[Bang to all, angry]: GEDA-GEDA-GEDAMBOZ-JABADA-RUVMUP-HOGO-GAGOG-NUKEMDUN-LUKMOP-GEDAMEM!!

A one of the nearby officers tackles Gnarko to the ground, another following up with shackles.

[Bang to all, satisfied]: DLABIDA-TEJUD-HIGIDA-MEZIME-HODIDA-SUMBEG-ABEGA!!

==========================

June 3rd, Five Years Ago, Midnight.
----------------

(Brinewood)

Gildaro stood across the street from Razgk, waiting for him to draw

[Razgk to Gildaro, loudly, but not yelling]: You ever gonna say why you cared about that poor young cub?  You don't seem the charitable type.

Gildaro flexes his fingers, but says nothing.

[Razgk to Gildaro, yelling, frustrated]: You know what!?  I've counted, and since i fist saw you, you ain't said more than 17 words to me!  You got a hole in yer tongue, eh!?

Gildaro still says nothing. Razgk snarls and draws, but Gildaro empties 3 shots into his chest before the gun is out of the holster.  Razgk collapses on the ground and begins to bleed out while Gildaro walks away in the opposite direction.
________________________________________________

Whadia say to that, eh?  Makes the story much easier to follow and prevents confusion.

I'm on the verge of a big decision.  I'm thinking of scaling down on A Disturbance on the Frontier a bit, in order to give me more time to work on Pit Fighting Season 3, and F-  Whoops... er, heh, yeah, just Pit Fighting, and maybe the 1 x 1 RPs i'm going to be starting soon.

I don't want your input, I DEMAND YOUR INPUT because you people are so damn polite, and always tell me to decide.  Well now it's mandatory, SO THERE!

I look forward to your replies.

Anyway, what i'm really here for... i need an RP where i'm the main character, and that's my only job; to be a player with a single character.  I don't care about that rest, i'll do basically anything, with anyone.  I'd prefer some form of cliched grand quest deal, but i'm open to more unique story types.

Well?  Anyone?

It's come to my attention that I'M IN OVER MY HEAD regarding RPs.  Might not seem like i'm doing much, but i'm doing a significant amount of RPing in person with my friends... and it takes time, creating a full-fledged world from the ground up. PM me if there was something you had in mind... i'll see if i can thin out some of this other crap to make room.

Ima make a list of all of my projects:

Pit Fighting Season 3: Pretty much on hold, mainly from lack of interest.

A Disturbance on the Frontier: I haven't been working on it, really.  Vequizire has taken most of time i used to spend on this.

******: Well i can't just give that away now can i?  What i can tell you is that this little project of mine taking up a fair deal of my working time.

Character List: A good 20% of my effort is going into this.  Still gonna be awhile before i have something that isn't a tangle mass of words, but when it's finished, it's going to blow your socks off.  Well, if you fleafaces wear socks anyway.

Burial at Sea: Just need to finish the preparations, and this one will be ready to set sail.

Kings and Queens: The only RP i'm actually truly a part of at the moment.

Vequizire: The grandest project of them all!  And i'm sure you'll be delighted to know that you'll probably never get to know anything about it.  Seriously though, we've been working on this for a few years now, and it's something worth gawking at.  There aren't many worlds with a ecosystem built from scratch.  Seriously, there are no horses, no wolves, no eagles, no crocodiles, no bears; we have sesh, ferals (Feer-Al), screeth, kaglek, and kombroth respectively.  That's just the beginning.  If i'm not on the forums, i'm doing one of two things: playing video games, or working on Vequizire.

As you can see, i'm kinda busy.  I'll do what i can to fit this other stuff in, but i'm stretched pretty thin already.

Title: Re: OOC RP discussion (Open for anyone to use)
Post by: Gauthar on March 22, 2014, 06:10:03 am
See and I will just come out and say it about my last statement. Rps are lacking in so much, be it a paragraph to explain everything that is going on, very lack luster character sheets to where it's just a single word to describe them and then the people complain later when they get called on it. To GM's who do put some effort into their story then accept these lack luster character sheets on account they want to hurry and get to rping, instead of flat out saying No you have to have a character sheet that is of decent length. The line in the history of it being a TBR to make it sound so mysterious. Also the one liners OH MY GODS The one liners are getting outrageous

A. TBR: Really this just a cop out to refuse working and it gets approved. Your back story will not be known by Anyone mister or misses Mysterious. Unless you said so and so in this rp knows my character so they would know a bit about my past. No one is gonna look at you and go "OH my that's so and so and their past consists of them being a run away from a carnival of horrors where they got that scar going along their spine." Seriously people work on your back stories

B. GM's You do not need to accept a lack luster Character sheet just to fill spots. If you set a standard and put a decent amount of work into your rp. You have a setting, you put effort into your rp and want it to be fun dont accept a cop out character sheet and I should I SHOULD Use people's from the rp forums to show what I mean. Actually you know what? Yes I will use an example

Physical appearance:looks a lot like a rabbit, but has some fox features, like the tail, internal organs, teeth, paws <------ this...THIS is so lack luster and believe it or not they copy and pasted the same description for more then one character. This means absolutely nothing. You look like a rabbit with fox features? Ok how tall are you? Coloring? What does tail look like? Fox like as in a fox tail or a rabbit tail colored like a fox's? Internal organs really? REALLY!? Unless you are gonna be killed and then autopsied I really don't believe this matters at all. Color of your eyes? What about any scars or something that might stand out? Piercings, cuffs on ears, rings, jewelry, glasses, or even like I don't know gold teeth cause you lost some and got all rapper. SOMETHING. Paws I dont even need to go there.

I believe my point has been made however some may think I am being mean or picking on just one. Oh no, trust me plenty of people are guilty of this, it was the first one I grabbed and noticed it was copy pasted for three descriptions in SAME RP. So AKA I have three characters for all you know are identical triplets and look the same. One walks down road well who is that one it might be Sal or Venus, or maybe it's Nick. I don't know they are all the same description and being I have never met the person before am unsure. Fan-freaking-tastic and yet they are accepted so no one gets hurt feelings. Which makes me go "No no...you as GM Put effort into your rp. To have a character sheet that isn't even on par with what you put into it, then they have no right to be upset. PUT YOUR PAW/HOOF/TALON/WHATEVER DOWN."

YES I know I put my points in first paragraph and now lettering them in weird order but, why care when so many of you show how little you care for rps

C. If you are a GM And yes I get it oh you are the chief your word is law. Good great been there done that, however if you make an rp with just a Paragraph to basically explain everything. Era Setting, place it is taking place, etc etc etc. You put so little effort into your rp why should anyone join? Really What about a paragraph explaining the rp is better then a full blown out explanation of where you are, what is at stake, what happened in the past, happening in present, past characters people can recall in the rp or have meet possibly in the past to work their character out and flesh them out. Be that person was a teacher or lover or whatever you give your rpers a golden ticket to flesh out and make an effort.

Example for me I will put my rp down as proof. I did Salem's University and put I needed teachers true but, you know what I gave enough back story for people entering the rp knew a good chunk of it. Other people who rped teachers or vice principal knew of who the "Bad" guy was, what they did. Had a reason to wanna stop him. Students joining for the first time hadnt a clue yet, when things went down they knew where they stood. They wanted to protect the school against a threat to it, protect a safe haven they had.

D. Throwing this out there...OVERPOWERED CHARACTERS My gods I wanna break a keyboard over people's head on this one. If you are the gm and you made a huge bad person to be taken down OK they are meant to be OP. They are a threat the rest of the people are building up to take on. So when they first encounter and face this threat and are left near death or actually lose a member to it, be it via their back story of the rper's character. AKA A former encounter in your back story. You lost a friend, loved one whatever. You were beaten so bad that the bad guy took pity on not ending your life. WHATEVER THIS IS FINE cause by the mid-way point of the rp the rest of the rpers are gonna be on another level of playing...pushed to their limits where next encounter they hold their own. Then at the end a thrilling fight where they band together to take down the person.

To be OP and not be this bad guy, where you are losing tons of blood at one point say Use last of your strength to do something...then post right after again using last of strength to do something else? Yeah no...As well using your powers to nullify all others, to insta-teleport them to a new location with no magic taking them away. Without consent is not OP that is just saying I am the universe you are my toys to play with. You shouldn't do this cause you make others wanna strangle you in later rps using the same character and pulling the same stunt. THEN You get away with it cause you are friends with the gm. Yeah no the gm should put friendship to side and be impartial

These are among the reasons I find the rps as of late are so lacking that I find more entertainment clipping my toe nails cause AT LEAST I CAN IMAGINE THEY ARE A GROUP OF ADVENTURES FIGHTING A MIGHTY BEAST OR SOMETHING. BE A LOT BETTER THEN 70 PERCENT OF THE RPS AND CHARACTER SHEETS HERE. That's right my toes have better character sheets

I will admit that I've tried to help people RP better so that RP's are more successful, fun, and last longer, and even started writing a guide, but only really got upturned noses and irritated players. People tended to take things as some form of insult, when actually I just wanted to see them enjoy themselves better. It upset me somewhat, and so I just gave up.

I like to think that I forgive everyone and everyone is able to do what they like too, but when an RP turns stale at the rate that they currently do, then pride needs to be exchanged for change. We all have to change and try a lot harder otherwise we can't say anything when RP's don't succeed. I hold no spiteful thoughts of course, but I just want everyone to be able to RP happily and enjoy themselves much more! :)

One for all, and all for one and all that! ^-^

Also, I believe that I should be able to start getting much more involved with RP'ing again soon enough. I can honestly say that I've really missed it! :)

(P.S. I can see that people are trying new ideas, changing etc, and It's good, we just need to keep progressing a little harder, maybe you could try looking at some of the RP's a few years old that did really well, etc. ^-^)

I'd like to say personally I do put  a lot of thought and time into my characters,  Iknow more than their character cards likewhat their favorite thing for breakfast is, what their favorite games are and a bunch of extraneous stuff that may or may not matter.Ido note all that seemingly dumb stuff because it makes them feel more whole and believable.

I'll admit I do condense my RP descriptions fromm time to time but I'm still kinda figuring out how to do all this stuff.I mean for Fading Hope season 2, I'm developing so many new devices and systems. When I came here i thought you were supposed to small descriptions on your RPs cause that's mostly what I saw. I've sorta learned by trial and error how to do all this.

And Isuppose that's my angle on all this...

(If you don't like caustic statements and sarcasm soaked in cynicism, you may wish to avert your eyes.)

Gauthar, you bring up some interesting points, but even i, the cynical jerk who looks down on everyone else, think your standards are a little too high; NONE of us are experts at this.  Granted, some of the recent RPs are crappy thrown together things that, while generally enjoyable, are not very fulfilling.  I stopped GMing in part because i don't want to be recognized as the lazy hypocritical good for nothing that i am.

Here are a few things i have to say about myself.

I will state now that my (local) characters are not overpowered.  They die with a snap of the fingers, anyone's fingers; THEY ARE ALL SMUBS.

(Smubs: A character that, while significant or important to other characters (both main or background), is essentially disposable from a storytelling point of view.)

If (Your character) just decided to pull a gun on (Meak), i would have two options: let her live through some unlikely event (OP), or let her die. (Realistic) If (Ghar) were there, i would have a choice: have him protect (Meak) through an unlikely action (OP), or have him fail to react in time. (Realistic)

MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, I'M GOING TO GO WITH THE REALISTIC OPTION.

However, if character is epic enough to actually react to something like that (Gildaro, Rhasken), they get a free 20, whenever they want.  There's a reason i don't use those characters very often, and that's because they are too "OP" for you wining sissies to tolerate.

Granted, i have no proof to back this up, because nobody has tired to kill me, and i haven't been truly part of this RPing since August last year.  Back then, i was even more of an idiot than i am now, and my RPing style was awful, so don't go looking at that to use against me.  In fact, one of the biggest reasons i haven't been RPing much lately is the fact that i can't meet my own standards of what a player should be doing.  I'm too inconsistent to be a good player, and i'm certainly not cut out to create and run an RP. (A look back at my previous attempts will attest to that, and i'm no better now.)

Now, my turn to complain about everyone else.

You know what bugs me?  When players hold on to all of their characters unrealistically.  Lets say we have Ghar, Kazek and Meak.

Ghar and Kazek are in a fight on a bridge, and Meak is trying to break it up.

Your version: Ghar slams into Kazek, knocking him off the bridge, but he grabs Ghar's leg and tries to take him with him.  Kazek falls to his death, and Ghat manages to grab a handhold and slowly climbs back up, with Meak helping him as he gets to the edge.  Happy ending.

My version: Ghar slams into Kazek, knocking him off the bridge, but he grabs Ghar's leg and tries to take him with him.  Ghar and Kazek fall to their deaths, and Meak is left alone, crying.  Sad ending.

Temya, Mord and Sahras.  Sharas makes a move suddenly and attempts to kill Temya.

Your version: Mord jumps in front of Temya, taking the strike of the knife.  Then he fights Sarahs in a "suspenseful" battle, and defeats her.  Temya is safe, and Mord is able to get medical attention. Happy ending.

My version: Mord turns around, but he's too late; Sarahs has a knife in Temya's neck.  Mord kills Sarahs in retaliation.  Mord is wounded in the fight, and struggles to battle both physical and emotional injuries.  Sad ending.

Zekal is walking through the swamps, ALONE.  A swamp creature attacks him.

Your version: Zekal beats the monster but is critically injured.  He crawls to the edge of the swamp, and though some utterly absurd luck, somebody finds him within an hour, and they get him medical attention.  Ten hours later, he's back on his feet and slaying monsters as good as new.  Happy ending.

My version: Zekal ends up critically wounded after a long bloody fight.  He collapses in the mire and dies within an hour.  Sad ending.

SEEING A PATTERN HERE?  As my friend once said to me: "happy endings should be reconsidered."

I'm sick of you lot and your damned "happily ever after rainbow sunshine" gig.  Lets see some REAL tragedy, REAL pain, REAL situations... ones in which evil is more than "i shot you in the gut, and you killed me once you got better."  I'm not saying everything should be hell, but your version of hell has AC and cable.

Next time (Temya) dies, there won't be some stupid time-warp alternate dimension crap to save her; when someone dies, THEY DIE, so deal with it.  At least, if i'm DM, that's how it's going to work.  If i'm a player, i'll apply my own rules to myself, but i have no expectations of everyone else to follow them.

Oh yeah, and i'd like to see some good character interaction that isn't focused on love or romance; I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF HEARTS AND FLOWERS.  Lets see some friendship, some disputes (over things not involving love), lets see some good old fashioned rowdy fun.

I have more to say, but i don't have time.  I have a friend over, and i need to start on a Campaign, first one i've DMed since the meat locker indecent.

Sorry if i come off as extremely rude, i'm just a little fed up with this.

Well the statement I made is more based towards people who refuse to try and change, for me I am far from perfect when I read a post I read it sometimes as something different or I misread something. But, I concede that I go back and change it instead of complaining about it. T-Yoshi you are one of them that want to try and better themselves which is good a better description a better backstory etc. It's people that cop out every rp, or replay the same character the same way EVERY SINGLE TIME

I have roleplayed Mikhail in a fighting tournament as a man obsesed with learning the dark arts, holding a tournament with his ill gotten wealth to bring people to him and learn it. It never got far but, I used him again in Salem's University and played him as a teenager who went through a lot of issues of seeing a father figure die by a kid he considered a brother. How it played on his mind and all that. Reusing characters is great sometimes but, make them different in each carnation. Rouen was a panther who went insane from dragon's blood in one rp the next rp he was a man who watched his mate die and lost and arm. No powers no nothing, and how in many failed attempts tried to make a robot counterpart of his mate sending him down a road of depression and betraying everyone for his own need

Now I am not saying my standards are high but, reasonable Trenyth. A little effort isn't too high, to have as I pointed out a copy paste of the same description for three characters in the same rp. People not saying what a character looks like outside of "Fluffy little bunny." is why so many rps fail. Cause people arent putting in effort and get none in return and ends up being a one sentence long rp that goes on for 20 pages cause every post is one-two lines long and posted in rapid fire instead of a little thought and effort put into it.

OP Is to me a character with no flaws, all this power like sorry to say Mystical Prince's dragon character that used commanded every element known and not known, not affected by it period, can take away your powers with just a thought, and then send everyone without a problem to a void where they cant use their powers and kept there till they turn good. That is OP on sooooo many levels I cant even begin to scratch the surface. Characters like that or people who do twenty flips in a row, land on their toes, fires a weapon or magic and kill 21 characters or whatever the case may be. There is having power and then there is just god modding.

As stated the main antagonist should have this great power that floors people but not unbeatable without the sacred sword of many moons bathed in special demon fighting blood or whatever.

[me personally never liked to rp gun rps cause it's very hard to do without being op  not saying impossible just for me difficult.]

Now then the happy ending thing I agree everyone winning and having this big warm, fuzzy, lovey-dovey feeling should be nipped in the rear end and fast. I enjoy a great rp that does end in a good ending but, in every instance there is stuff that ends so bad for people. A reminder of what they fought for, who perished protecting this stuff they thought needed it. As well rps where they went and died the antagonist winning. It gives room to expand the universe on it...follow up rps, and all kinds of things.

In [hate to bring it up] but in salem's university. People were gonna die, Antonio already died my cheetah, antagonist was gonna die, principal gonna die, a lot of death. Yes good wins out in end but, at such a heavy cost it would of left room to do a second rp where how are people affected. Did people leave when teachers and students died? Is there a way to deal with all their premature deaths thanks to their own magics slowly killing them all?

Sometimes it needs to be done to lose characters remember you can bring them into another rps cause it's in a different universe, just change them to make them fit

B. GM's You do not need to accept a lack luster Character sheet just to fill spots. If you set a standard and
Physical appearance:looks a lot like a rabbit, but has some fox features, like the tail, internal organs, teeth, paws <------ this...THIS is so lack luster and believe it or not they copy and pasted the same description for more then one character.

Look, i'm not going to lie, you pointing out my character description in such a combative manner really pisses me off. i'm not here to attack you though, i'm here to explain and if I come off as a bit sharp, oh well you shouldn't have given me reason to.

Now I recognize that in any given RP this would be a major flaw...except that there is an entire aircraft carrier of these guys and I wanted a vague generic description of them because I WANT confusion as to who is who, "Oh hey sexy" "who the hell are you?" "oh i'm sorry i thought you were-"

as for the internal organs bit, that is far more important than it seems, what would you think if you saw what appeared to be a rabbit eating a steak? how would you rationalize that "no i'm wounded, I know I look like a rabbit but I need an organ donation from a fox"

as for the rest? I give a generic description because noone pays attention to the details until they are pertinent, often the details hash themselves out in the game, and if you will look, I have never copy pasted appearance in an rp other than that unless i'm playing twins.

A. TBR: Really this just a cop out to refuse working and it gets approved. Your back story will not be known by Anyone mister or misses Mysterious. Unless you said so and so in this rp knows my character so they would know a bit about my past. No one is gonna look at you and go "OH my that's so and so and their past consists of them being a run away from a carnival of horrors where they got that scar going along their spine." Seriously people work on your back stories

there are more reasons than laziness for tbr.
You see A persons main character is special, hey want to relate to them, and as consequence that character is often them.
I am no exception and unless i'm doing something special, I always TBR. I TBR because my past sounds like something out of a fantasy novel anyway, and if you want to know my life story, i'll tell you when i'm damn well ready. To dream that I can fit my life story in anything less than a book is callous and ignorant.

Come on people, we need to stop the arguing! >:(

Opinions and passions are one thing, along with discussion, but the fierceness isn't going to solve much. At the end of the day, some RP's are fine to some, and not to others. It may be fairly subjective but i'm sure we all agree that the quality is lacking considerably, and some things need to be changed.

After some thought, i've come to a decision.  The Pit Fights are officially canceled, probably permanently.  I don't think anyone will object to this anyway, but i just thought i'd let you know.

Oh yeah, also...

I'm back in the game.

I'll be taking part in more RPs for now on, instead of hanging back and plotting.

EDIT: A Disturbance on the Frontier is now a pair of 1 x 1 x 1s that will be taking place in the same world at the same time, but will not be crossing paths.  I hope you guys are fine with the storyline being guided, because i did far too much work on it for you to take a 90o turn and ignore it.  It will be worth the wait, i assure you.

that'd be cool Wise, I heard nothing but good but good about Attack on Titan.

On another note, I will require a little more time for Fading Hope Season 2. shouldn't be too much of a delay but I am roughing out some of the new systems i'll be implementing.

Got eh question for all ye role-playin folk.  Out of all the RPs you've done, who are your favorite characters.  They don't have to be your own ether.

I've always liked the characters Madame No (from Covens), as well as Xilef (from Covens as well by BlackRose13). I would probably have to add mu own character Naomi, T-Yoshi's character Izzy, Acheron's character Celera, and SeaOfWhispers' character Valarius. These characters seem to be the ones that stuck out to me. Not to mention BearGuy's character Bjorn.

Regarding favorite characters...My personal favorite from my line-up is Leilani although Izzy is a close second with her distinct style and caring for her sister. For other people's characters, For Wise it's a tie between Xavier and Aiden. For Furenzied Short is the one who sticks out most. For Sledge Prowl and Pounce they're like his signature characters in my eyes. Tren, probably my favorite from you would be Gnarko.

And on a side note, got a lot of good stuff cookin' for Fading Hope Season 2...gonna be a wild ride back to New Morsville!

This is going to sound pretty selfish (and it probably is), but more of my favorite characters are my own.  It's not that i don't like everyone else's characters, it's just that i don't know them nearly as well.  So, to hide that, i'll mix them in with the others.  Of course, it won't do much considering i just told you that... but, heheh, yeah, here they are!

Jacques (SeaOfEvilness) was always entertaining, particularly during The Stone Quart (http://forums.furtopia.org/furry-role-playing/the-stone-court-%28-1x1-with-sledge%29/).  I seriously busted up laughing over his puppetry show with a disembodied skull.  His scene in Kings and Queens where he is assigned as the chef was quite amusing as well.

Furry Saddles had some good characters.  I really liked James (Bear da Bear) and his personality.  The interactions with him and Jenzar (Somebody other than myself) went quite well i think, really.  That whole section was pretty awesome, really.  Then later, his confrontation with Meak  (Trenyth, not Tren) was well done (though it was cut short when the RP died)  And then Kyo's (Me) role in that was really good (until she was impaled to a bed by a giant sword, which had absolutely nothing to do with me.)  Really, that RP in general went well, much better than any other that i had been in before it.

So far i've found Shiva (Wise Guy) pretty funny.  Her nonchalance reminds me of Jerry Cabbage a little, and hyenas are awesome, so there's that too.  I never got to interact with him yet, but i really like Short (Furenzied).  He's just sorta... likeable, which is why i feel bad for him after all that happened regarding Zekal (Who i have nothing to do with.)  Speaking of him, he's not necessarily my favorite character of all time, he does have the most detailed (and tragic) past of any character i've created... so much so that i cried just writing it. Really, i think that Kings and Queens (http://forums.furtopia.org/furry-role-playing/kings-and-queens-ic/) is going to be my favorite RP for a long time to come.

As much as i hate it, there were a few good things in the old pit fight RP(s)  One character i really liked was Erik (Furenzied, again.)  His abilities were so unique, and balanced just right so they weren't overpowered.  And then there was Iorek (Bears Bears Bears) who was pretty cool.  Then there was Slate (Totally not me) who i have decided is a designated DMing tool.  And of course, everyone's favorite, Temya (whom i never harmed in any way) and all the horrible things that came with her.

Quote
Tren, probably my favorite from you would be Gnarko.
I take offense to this. :P

Hmm... who else...

Ah, yes... Blight (Sledgehammer) was always pretty cool, after all, cannibals are pretty swell if you ask me.  Pounce and Prowl (That guy i just mentioned) are memorable too, if not only for the scene in Pit Fighting Season 2, where i tested out some ideas i had for psychological torment.  I probably would have broken Pounce had i not backed off a little, just to be nice.

Oh, yeah, Bark Starnfist (SMEEGE) is one of the most memorable characters of all time.  Oblivious, obnoxious, and always willing to help a fellow buddy.  Bark has a significant record when it comes to one-liners, and just quotes in general.  I'd put some up, but a few have some swearing (not excessive, but too much for the forums) and i'm lazy so there.  You'd have to be there to know em.

Probably more, but i'm getting bored writing this.  I'll come back to it later.

Out of all my favorite characters I'd say my favorite was Doc...powerful enough to do whatever the hell I wanted, but not a bit of drive to use said power...until the future section of the RP, also very gender confused for a short time, and really flirty.

I really enjoyed T-yoshi's team fadeout

I loved sea as Jacques in For the republic

jack played by wise in legacy of 1000 stars was awesome (REBOOT PLEASE!)

So, as you can all see, Zombie Outbreak has failed to clear the runway... or even start its engines.  So, after looking back at all my past failings, i can reenforce the pattern i've picked up: I can't run an RP. The biggest problem has been starting the RP; after that they get at least five pages or so... but that hasn't happened in a long time.  Usualy i just give up, even when others think it shows promise. Only once did i complete an RP, and i look down on it with disgust, it was so poorly done.

I have three projects at the moment, all of which are at a standstill.  One of them, A Disturbance on the Frontier, will happen eventually.  I have a 1 x 1 in the works, that i basically only need an opening post for, and i have something else that's under wraps.

As for Zombie Outbreak... well, it was meant to have a B-movie charm from the beginning, so it has a better chance of starting soon than the others.  Expect it sometime in your lifetime, maybe.

For the others, if they get here, they will be good, i assure you.  It's just a matter of when they get here.

alright people...need some input. I've currently got three RPs brewing that all seem really good to me. I wanna know what you guys want and it'll determine what I tuck my efforts into most.

without further adu...here are the choices!

Fading Hope: Season 2- The follow-up to my very first RP. This will feature a variety of new systems I've been also new will be a crafting system, No, no ridiculous weapons like a rocket-powered, chainsaw wheelchair but this will allow for more choices of weapons when the zed start closing in. Expect to see a new face or two...as well as some returning players in this Walking Dead-esque experience. New convoy and inventory systems to make scavenging and survivor management all the more tense.  Are you ready for the long ride back to New Morsville?

Character swap RP- This one's still in the development stage but I have settled on this playing like classic Resident Evil. An elite team of operatives are sent to investigate an old resort only to find more than they bargained for...Now down to half the team, whatever ammo you have, no phone service...you're on your own. Work together to survive!

Future military RP- Disregard for life, experiments to produce powers, genetic engineering...all the ingredients for a rather intriguing RP following the story of a group of soldiers who turned their powers against their creators. Action with a good dash of drama and stealth. Will rely on character development.

Both ADotF and Buried at Sea or on hold for a week or so.  I'll continue work on them, but the launch dates are going to be pushed back.  I've been rather ill lately, and i'm unable to take on very many tasks, so i need some time to recover.  I will still be posting in Kings and Queens as often as i can.

I'm sorry for any trouble this may be causing.

Skyfire and I have one...

...i stopped GMing in part because i don't want to be recognized as the lazy hypocritical good for nothing that i am...   ...in fact, one of the biggest reasons i haven't been RPing much lately is the fact that i can't meet my own standards of what a player should be doing...
I didn't just burn myself, i shackled my hand to the stove.  It can't get this out of my head, and it could have a lot to do with my inability to start an RP.

On another note, i will be re(re)-opening INSTA-RP, because my friend needs something to do, and it can't hurt to have a little stupid pointless fun every now and then.

EDIT: Yay for stupid pointless fun.  Since nobody seems to give a fish, i guess that just makes my job easier.  Thanks!

EDIT EDIT: I am pretty much canceling aDotF, Buried at Sea and that special project i kept hinting at.  HOWEVER, i still have all the information for those stories, and there is no reason i couldn't bring them back at a future date.

Canceled, yes

Forever, doubtful

EDIT EDIT EDIT: Like i said before, it's not forever, in fact, one of them might be starting at some point...  Ya know, like before Christmas or something.  However, said RP will not be a 'sign on jump in' sort of thing, which is most everything else from what i can see.  I won't be half-bass on this, i am NOT going to repeat what has happened with every RP i've started, which is UNDENIABLE FAILURE.  I'm not a huge fan of catching boots, nor using them as bait, so i'm not going to cast that line again.  I'm going to hit this with the right tackle, and reel it in until it's something worth eating... i mean, reading.

So, first of all, i'm not dead.

...

...

...

Em, thank you.

So, why am i dusting off this thread?  Because the wheels have been turning... things have been happening...  The evil sound of my evil fingers typing evilly on my evil keyboard evilly echo through my evil lair as i evilly concoct my evil plan...  MY OH SO EVIL PLAN!!

By the dice, could it be true?

Tren is going to run his own RP?

For the first time in over a year?

Methinks rumors are true.

Yes, it's true, i'm trying my hand at Dungeon Master once more.  I have ONE RP coming up... and it will be glorious.  Remember A Disturbance on the Frontier?  The Lowest Class, maybe?  Burial at Sea?  The Long Road Ahead of Us?  Ice Blood and Steel?  Well, i'm gonna smash them all together AND pick out all the nasty bits, so we get something awesome from it.

Now before you choke over your freshly poisoned cookies thinking "OMG I WANT IN!!" I have a bit of news for you.  My latest project has been in the works for months, its evil design is very precise and cannot handle wildcards.  In other words, it's a private RP.  I know who the players are gonna be, and they know all the information that they need to in order to play already.

HOWEVER, should this take off like a evil rocket with a evil robot invader stuffed in the nosecone, that means cookies for everyone!  That, and i just might go ahead with my other RP, Fringe, which has been smoldering on the backburner for a very long time... and judging by the success of the RP it's based off of, it could mean a lot of fun for you little munchkins.

So yeah, just a shout-out to all you people who might be interested in joining me (sometime later) for a nice western themed RP.
(I'm looking at you, Red!)

Game release dates may vary.

The reason I ask is because I want to use a certain character who is technically "dead" if I use Red...

That's doable.  Ghost or something?  (Not like i have character(s) that talk to ghosts or anything.)

Also, when this gets going, if it gets going, i will finally be able to introduce... SHERIFF BANG!!! *explosions*

EDIT: So fishing exited for this!  I seriously feel like i'm going to explode or something if i don't get this started soon. x_x

i've been wanting to play a certain card, but the last RP died before I could

Oh BTW i'm doing better...still down my dominant hand, with a heavy limp, and they are still being monitored for potential drain bamage, but for the time being...i'm back.

Not only that but the wreck gave me an idea.

So, I as thinking about what she would be, and I thought about some kind of risen undead; as in not just a spirit, but a body too, then I remembered that she was killed by Blight. That means she wouldn't be something you would want to see walking around... Ever. So, now I'm thinking Banshee.

Also, none of us would want you to explode... If you not exploding means this will start sometime soon, that would deffinately be a justified sacrifice we would most likely all make.  ;)

...

 :o

So... um, moving past the whole explosion thing, i got news.

I am seriously considering splitting up A2 into more than one RP.  This way the party's stories can move independently of eachother, and I will always have something to work on.  Trying to weave a bunch of stories into one thread seems to lead to unbearably slow RPs, and if something isn't moving, i lose interest.  Not saying we need a ten posts in a minute RP, but a post a week at least is what i'm aiming for, that way i don't become disconnected from the RP out of boredom.  If we have to post for three stories at once, making a post will take longer, and people won't post as often.  ALSO, splitting this up gives me far more creative freedom.  I can reuse characters in ways that i couldn't have if all the stories were in the same world.  One more thing.  Time.  If we split this up, we won't have to keep the timelines synchronized which would otherwise be a massive headache for me.

BUT-

-i'd like to hear your say before i make such a large decision.  To anyone who is involved in the A(X)* RP set, please let me know your thoughts on this idea, so i can make a reasonable decision that we can all agree on.  I want to make sure my players are okay with my decisions, because after all, this whole thing is so we can have fun.

- Tren

[A(X) stands for all of A1, A2, A3, etc...]

STATUS UPDATE: It's official.  My laptop is dying.  If you didn't already know, my laptop is my only way of accessing the internet, so if it goes, it will be the (temporary) end of Tren.  If i drop off the face of the earth without explanation, that's my explanation.

EDIT: Well, at least i have some good news to go along with this.  I should be shopping for a new laptop here in the next few weeks, so if by some bad chance i do disappear, it won't be for very long.  Even then it isn't certain that my current laptop is actually going to die or not, so there might not end up being a problem to begin with.

EDIT EDIT: Listing out current projects and potential future projects.

ADVENTURE 0001V2: A story i'll be (re)writing.  While it does have significant crossover with the other RPs, it's doubtful i'll post it on the forums.

A2: Originally designed as three RPs in one, i may be splitting this up.  Should this be the case, A2 will be the name of Wise and Chemino's storyline.

A3: A 1 x 1 with Sledge that should be happening at around the same time as my other RPs.

A4/A5: The other two thirds of the original A2 cast, should i follow through with my plan to make them separate RPs..

Fringe: Old west with a twist.  Unlike the other RPs, this one won't be exclusive to just two or three players.

First off, my laptop seems to be working again, so that's good.

In other news, i've come to a decision; i can't handle the number of RPs i'm supposed to do right now, so i'm going to have to scrap a few things.  I think i'll be cutting it down to two projects, but the question is which ones...  So, how about the people involved vote.  You may vote once for two of the following projects, or vote twice for one.

CHOICE A:A2 (1 x 1 with Wise): Wise, Chemino, Mallary and Aaron reunite and embark on a grand adventure

CHOICE B:A3 (1 x 1 with Sledge): Rem and Ariana are given some sort of quest.  I kinda lost interest in this one, to be honest...

CHOICE C:A4 (1 x 1 x 1 with Blades and Wise): A group of adventurers explore dangerous ruins in search of treasure.  Cast is as follows: Jemeni, Shiva, Cahsia, Leilani

CHOICE D:A5 (1 x 1 with Blades): Terry, Blades and Victor are bored, so they go looking for some adventure.  This may or may not lead them into a massive civil war... just a thought.

CHOICE E:Fringe (Semi-open RP): Old west with a twist.  This is a sort of tribute RP to Sledge's Furry Saddles, the RP that got me into RPing.

CHOICE F:Nostalgia (1 x 1 with Blades): I've been looking forward to this one.  Blades will be a character who lost all of his memories, and has to figure out who he is.

NOW GET TO VOTING, I want your opinions now that way i don't make the choices myself and end up angering somebody.

So... i guess Fringe is a go...  Well, this could take awhile, unless you guys want me to cut a corner or two, which i might have to do anyways.

Nostalgia might have to wait, the story and plot and stuff ain't quite fully cooked yet... but when it is done... huehuehuehuehuehue...

Also, Blades, Wise, i can't start A2, A4 or A5 unless YOU GIVE ME CHARACTER CARDS!!  Once you give me those i can finalize what i got, and ya know, maybe we can START one of these damn things.

In the meantime i'll touch up some details on Teriak, finish Sunfrost, and start working on Fringe.

None.  In fact, i'm going to outright admit i just don't like the concept of direct animal hybrids.  Taking some aspects of one animal and giving it to another (giving a cat fox-like ears, for example), sure, but cross-breeding... i can't wrap my head around it.  It can make some sense in some scenarios, but what if you had, i dunno, a salamander/seagull combo...  i can't make that work in my head.  I guess it's a case by case basis for me, then.

Regardless, i don't have any hybrid characters.

Wait you're alive!?  I thought you drove your car off the pier and swam to some tropical island or something!  THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING!!!

So then...

Should i stuff you into one of the RPs i'm working on?  Make a new one altogether? (easier than ever thanks to all the work in did on Teriak)

And for anyone else wondering, my other projects are on hold again... waiting until i have a new laptop to start them, because this one could burst into flames at any minute. (And that would make typing rather difficult.)

Yeah, we still got that Azrnska thing where you'd play as Daim, and like all the stuff would happen and Ombute and stuff...  or i can keep that on the backburner and i could come up with something new...

That, or we could wait until we see eachother in person, then SAY we're gonna figure this out... and end up playing video games instead...

Edit: See, i told you we'd just end up playing video games! :P

So, following my trend of disappointing news, i have a small announcement.

My sense of loyalty is spread pretty thin right now.  In fact, you could say that there's only one thing keeping me here right now.  I'm emotionally invested in my characters, but my in-person friends aren't really into "furry" role-playing.  As only you people could understand, some characters just aren't the same as humans... and unfortunately, most of my characters fall into that category.  I can't use them with my other friends, and i somehow lost my faith in my friends here... i'm trapped, having only the world i've created myself, and i lack the motivation to use it for writing stories.  In fact, i can't find the motive to do much of anything right now, much to my displeasure.

In other words, until i find a way to get my act together, i'm pretty much resigning from the RPing craft.

-Trenyth

(Notice i didn't say i'm quitting, you guys are too awesome to leave behind.  Just don't expect to see me very often... for awhile, anyways.)

Feels kinda dead around here recently...  We're losing RPers at a slow but steady rate, but we don't seem to be getting any newcomers to fill in the gaps.  Now i'm no genius, but that has me a little concerned.

Anyone else feel the same way, or am i just getting paranoid? x_x

Not rreally. I mean i'm not seeing us losing too many members

it does seem like a lot of people are becoming less active, but not entirely gone.

I am seeing a lot less new RP's though, and most of them die fairly quickly anyway.

Post by: Sledge on April 16, 2015, 01:21:58 am
I agree with Jacoby on this one. I don't think it's so much that we're losing people, as it's that we're losing participation, and RPs die off too quickly.
Title: Re: OOC RP discussion (Open for anyone to use)
Post by: ColonelMustang on April 21, 2015, 02:10:25 pm
I agree with both sides. I mean we have had a few of the regulars drop off or have other stuff happen the has....prevented them from getting on the forums. Then you have the people like myself who get really busy and have to put the forum on hold while we take care of life stuff, but there has been virtually no influx of new rp'ers. Don't get me wrong i love rp'ing with you guys, but it wouldn't be bad to have some new blood to stir up the pot.

I don't think we have, but the problem is we're running out of ideas. Most ideas are becoming a bit cliche. Apocalypse has been done, supernatural, magical universities, military based RP, space, superheroes hasn't been done to death YET, but a lot of genres are being reused a lot.

things that have not been over used YET

Slice of life
Superheroes
medieval
continue the list?

I third this. RP's should not be about quantity or how many players you can get. RP's are about quality. Granted, I don't play any RP's. I sometimes watch what is posted and played and it seems to be the "same old, same old" kinds of stuff.  :P  :P  :P  None of the RP's ever get "finished" or reach a goal/conclusion to the story. And most of what I've seen over the last 2-3 years is probably 70% or more of combat, violence, guns, fighting, and space. Maybe it's time to take a long break from RP'ing and start brainstorming new stories and genres to use?

Want a few ideas? Here's a few:

Maybe an rp dealing with archaeology? Something similar to Indiana Jones where the characters are hunting for treasure and lost relics and are being chased by bad guys.

Maybe something similar to TRON? Where the characters either digitize themselves and get transported into a computer system or they are digitized against their will, and they have to find a way to get back to the real world.

Base an rp around a real historical event? I thought about doing an rp based on the 1880's/1890's Yukon Gold Rush, but changed my mind long ago.  :P There is so much real life historical events you could use. Centuries worth.

What about an undersea adventure? An rp completely underwater with different aquatic species/characters?

Interestingly enough, i do have a archeology/cave-diving idea on the back burner but i also got my other projects to tend to.

Some would be...

Fading Hope Season 1 re-re-launch
Kings and Queens (But that one's closed so that's kind of a wash i guess)
a currently unnamed mansion exploration RP (Kinda like old school resident evil horror)
I also had the idea of doing something kinda like XCOM

Ahem...

As for my angle on this...  I'm going to be staying on the Kings and Queens bandwagon, or course, but other than that, i won't be participating in any new RPs for awhile.  Going to (re-)try my hand at writing a story (again), because my previous attempts have not only felt like they had potential, but the pride and satisfaction from working alone and producing something worth sharing is quite rewarding.

And also, if you guys want a new theme to work with, how about something western-ish?  I mean, Furry Saddles was about as polished as a brick, but 70+ pages of willful participation doesn't happen without reason.  Just a thought.

I had an idea for an RP involving the START of an apocalypse

but you'd be normal citizens trying to survive the rioting, chaos, looting, and collapse of society

No military backgrounds, no superpowers, no futuristic armor suits, no magic

But I really don't like running RP's so if anyone wants to steal my RP and run with it, feel free

I was thinking of idea of having characters being part of a elite CDC response team.  Or they can choose to be part of a rebel group, that fights against them to get the vaccination for themselves. It would take place in the hardest hit city in a worldwide pandemic of an unknown virus. They fight, try to research and try to make a vaccination or the future of humanity is destroyed. Just and idea.

Hello, hello! I'm new here but I've introduced myself to some of you already. Loc told me you were looking for new RPers. Pleased to meet you all!
I'm interested in an RP and have a little bit of experience in them! I can help with ideas, if you like. :)

I sense a post-apocalyptic trend in the ideas being suggested. Jacoby's take on it sounds interesting, few postapoc settings take place during the fall, that's usually relegated to backstory. Normal citizens trying to piece together what's happening and making judgment calls with very little information to start out with is a novel prospect.

Perhaps simply determining the nature of the threat is part of the goal. A new virus has many unknowns. An alien invasion is usually headed by alien aggressors, with alien motivations and psychologies.

Here's a few attempts of mine at brainstorming.

Spoiler: Urban Survival with Factions • show
In a scenario like Jacoby proposes, the players could start out on a level playing field with the rest of the world (excepting militaries and gangs) and would have to earn status and followers. They could decide what kind of survivors they want to be. Hostile or helpful? Expansive or isolationist? If the goal is to create a player-made faction, then the players would have to decide on how it is governed, what laws are enforced within their territory, diplomatically engage other factions, manage resources, and so forth. Differences in philosophy by the founding members could lead to rich political conflicts.

Spoiler: Alien Invasion, with a twist • show
An forward fleet of sub-sapient terraforming automatons land upon Earth (?) to prepare it for colonization, but their makers did not anticipate the existence of sapient carbon-based life. The automatons regard the players (and all else) as dangerous wildlife and kill on sight, all the while slowly rendering Earth uninhabitable in the process of making it more fit for its origin species. It's an invasion, and an eco-disaster. The players are all members of an X-COM like organization dedicated to better understanding the threat.

There would be multiple victory conditions:

* Destroy the automated ISRU factory
* Hold them off long enough for the colonizing aliens to arrive and realize their error
* Reverse engineer the automatons to gain knowledge of their designer's communication protocols and attempt to show the aliens the destruction they've caused. Players will have to discover how to encode video footage in an alien file format and send it to them, communicating in pantomime... Assuming the aliens see in visible light!
* Flee Earth entirely?

Spoiler: Space Opera • show
Furries... In Space!! It'd be fun to roleplay as a ship crew. Maybe a crew of pirates raising a ruckus, or a research vessel boldly going where it may. Perhaps even simple colonists trying to survive on an alien world.

To summarize the ideas I'm aware of: Plague, Fantasy, Average Joepocalype, Faction Politics, Spelunking/Archaeology, Cyberpunk, Undersea, Alien Invasion/X-COM, Space Opera

I really like the idea of the urban survival with factions. Though I think my character would be lone with no faction to join and would stay on his own. I like the other ideas but the urban one I really like.

It's my favorite, too. Seems like it would lead to rich character interactions, and probably wouldn't be too hard to pull off!

I say go for it! If you feel like you want to start it up and become a GM, do it. I think that idea sounds good too with lots of interaction to keep things alive.

I have no experience in running RPs so I'm ambivalent about attempting it. Besides, I have a different setting I should finish first that I've been seriously neglecting. I was thinking about presenting a setting document to a more experienced GM, and letting them build a campaign around that as a kind of collaboration. I can't write a good narrative for the life of me, so I reason that the actual events players are involved in are best left in other hands.

Can't make promises on whether it will see ever the light of day. Running an RP is more work than merely participating and I've been distracted as of late arranging to go back to school, practicing my spanish and starting out sketching things.

I'm on board if anyone else wants to take up the mantle, however! I'm unsure how much good that will do as it seems like we're wanting more for leadership than participants, but it must count for something.

Right, I don't feel like running a RP it can be to much work sometimes. It'll happen when it happens.

I was thinking while i'm working on Fading Hope and Kings and Queens among other projects...I'd start a murder mystery RP where our characters are house guests invited to play a game of mystery where their fates are determined by how well they can decipher the clues and piece together how each murder happened so opposed to using conventional weapons, your wits and cunning are your armaments and the things keeping you alive.

So tired of not doing anything.  Gotta do something.  Time spent idle is time wasted!

Expect me to throw out a new idea here some time in the future.  I'm looking at you two, Blades, Wise...

Got a new RP in the works.  In the process of typing out the OOC page.  It'll get up here when i get around to finishing it.

Almost done, but sleep takes priority over progress.  Besides, i'm almost done.

Hell yeah!  OOC Complete!  Only upwards from here!

Some people (myself included) enjoy reading a good RP, even if we aren't taking part. It's nice to know when something new and potentially interesting is on the way.

I know, i know, i'm a dreamer.  A successful RP, here?  Why, that hasn't happened in years!  But i can still dream that some day i'll throw something at the wall that sticks.  :)

How about a fallout style roleplay?
I don't really want to run one (i'm not a very good GM) but I like throwing ideas out in the hopes someone will like it.

I've made a rather predictable discovery.  The RPs on the adult side of the forum are doing just fine, while the main RP board lies dormant.  I'd ask what it is that makes these other RPs so much more popular, but i'm just gonna keep my guesses to myself.  Besides, i'm not sure i'd be allowed to talk about it here anyways.

In other news, i'm just going to stop fooling myself thinking i can be a GM here, or anywhere.  I'm going to stop giving attention to my (very few) current projects and see how long it takes for people to miss me.

PM me if you want to hear my life story.  #SARCASM

The Adult board Rp's are running well because they are all 1x1 RP's
They take less effort to run
Even when RP in the regular board was getting harder to maintain, 1x1 RP's here were still doing relatively well
I think you make a splendid GM, but you let yourself get distracted very easily, and for some reason never believe yourself to have enough time to participate in an RP

I wouldn't mind doing a 1x1 with someone, either the other person makes it or I make it(either would work really). Not right now though since I have finals coming up.

I would like to officially and openly apologize for my past actions as both GM and a RP participant.  I have looked back at my past work as both player and storyteller, and i am deeply saddened by how little i have actually accomplished.  I've made at least as much noise as any of you, but i have more abandoned OOC pages than i can remember, and only my first few RPs even made it past the drawing board.  You guys deserve better than to sign onto a ship that was never seaworthy to begin with, and i aim to correct that with future undertakings.

For this point onwards, i'm going to work harder at following through with the projects that i present to you.  I'm going to start that by making sure that Guardians of Eleonburg reaches it's full potential.  Once i get that ball rolling, i have ideas for other RPs i could set up, such as Fringe, a western RP of mine that has been waiting in the wings for nearly two years now.  But most importantly, i'm going to put more effort into staying motivated, and making sure that i'm able to provide a RPing experience that doesn't get cut short by my lack of effort.

-Tren

EDIT: Progress made since this post; ZERO.

EDIT EDIT: Oh yeah.  SOOO hard at work guys, like you wouldn't believe.  Actually, maybe you would believe, i mean, no progress is pretty much the norm for me, is it not?  I guess it wouldn't be a surprise at all to hear that i'm i've pretty much abandoned everything i've set up with GOE.  Gotta clear my plate and make something new.  Gonna start the new year with a powerful dose of nothing, i'm sure.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: Wow, i'm a damn prophet, aren't i?

So in addition to Manor Blanc and Kings and Queens nearly ready to reboot, I currently have two other ideas floating about in my head.

First one being a Steven Universe-esque Rp, still in the works right now but i've got some solid ideas for it.

Second, maybe giving the idea of a cross-over RP another shot.

Maybe something involving dragons. Feral or anthro I have yet to come to terms with. Fantasy-like. Maybe. Been a while since I hosted a real rp.

Really, i think that Kings and Queens (http://forums.furtopia.org/furry-role-playing/kings-and-queens-ic/) is going to be my favorite RP for a long time to come.

Hey, Blades.  I still stand by this, even though it's been a year and a half.  Proud of yourself?

I actually meant "proud of yourself" literally, not sarcastically...  But it would be nice if we could get the reboot in order sooner rather than later.

So to whom it may concern...

Kings and Queens will be starting up tomorrow after i get out of work.

and second, i'll also post in Manor Blanc around that time as well.

Just a little update i suppose so people don't start sending search parties for me :orraccoon:

So...i was thinking while Manor Blanc and Kings and Queens are going and i've got the Steven Universe RP and Fading hope on the drawing boards i had another idea.

I was thinking something along the lines of the lore of the Infamous series, dealing with a few different angles from conduits on the run and the military hunting for them to the civilians caught in the crossfire.

I've been wanting to get back into running RPs again.  I'm thinking of going back to the basics and setting up Pit Fighting: Season 5...

Yes, ignoring the canceled Season 3, and just plain skipping Season 4.  Of course i'd try to avoid DWARVEN HEADSHOTs and time travel calamities... and putting in other player's characters without their permission..

Jeez, that first season was a real mess, wasn't it.  Makes me wonder if bringing this series back is actually a GOOD idea.  x_x

Oh dear lord not that idea again... :P

Don't get me wrong, i love the idea, but you know how i am.  I try to build a detailed setting from the ground up... end up burnt out and abandon the project...

Oh yeah, done that more times than i can count throughout my RPing history...

Sigh...

I'll give it some thought though... you can count on THAT much. ;)

http://forums.furtopia.org/furry-role-playing/a-tale-of-monsters-%28pokemon-rp%29-ooc/ (http://forums.furtopia.org/furry-role-playing/a-tale-of-monsters-%28pokemon-rp%29-ooc/)

I went back and looked at the old OOC...  Really disappointed that i never followed through on this one, but i don't want to hear anyone saying i didn't give it my best shot.  I spent quite a bit of time trying to make this one work, but as usual i got frustrated and gave up when i felt that i had bitten off more than i could chew.

If i were to host a new RP, it would likely be a reworking of this idea.  I mean, i have a crap-ton of characters to use already!  Here's a list of all my RP characters that STARTED their existences as Pokemon.  (This isn't counting all the other named Pokemon i could use.)

Mynyah Kull: Mightyena
Chemino Kull: Mightyena
Faroe Sinclair: Linoone
Synaro Gemlin: Sandslash
Kom Arbadak: Kadabra
Jemeni Telenos: Liepard
Remia Zarlio: Dewott
Tesaelo Reciff: Herdier
Mykhaila Razortide: Vulpix
Remigio Seastone: Mudkip
Mezmeti and Tesketo: Linoone x2
Enso Vantarci: Vigoroth
Ravango: Phanpy
Skerrie: Fearow

I think it's obvious that i have more than enough raw materials to work with as fas as characters and NPCs go, so i already have half the battle fought.  Not going to give any form of ETA, but i might end up working on this idea some over the next few weeks, and we'll see where that goes.

There was a weather situation, and an adventure
Got a foot of snow
Had to walk 12 miles in it in 20f and colder (not counting windmill)
Situation seems to have stabilized now, and I'm back online

So it would appear that the Adult RP Boards have died now as well.

I also had to do a double-triple take when i saw that i haven't posted on this thread since January.

Well maybe a blank slate is what this place needed.  Maybe.  Feeling optimistic for once.
