Here's another brainstorm idea I just had tonight. Just because I'm mentioning this does not mean it will get implemented now. Frankly, I don't see this idea taking shape until possibly a few years from now as I suspect a lot of money and other resources may need to be gathered, etc. But anyway, I hope somebody will keep this in mind. ;)

What if Furtopia had some sort of web cam service so that when some Furtopians go to cons, they could transmit the videos and pics back to the main site here for the furs who didn't get to go, to see the con in real time as it's happening? It would sorta be like Furtopia TV, where furs could tune in at a certain time to see the web cam footage of the con as it's happening.

That would be great especially for furs (like myself) who are having trouble getting to a con weather it be cash, family, work, etc…

Not to mention if they were kept up they could be used as a refrence to see what con is actually like especially sense it is hard to find good videos over the net.

Staff actually talked about that prior to Morphicon this last year.  Unfortunately the services available at the hotel were borederline (as I understand it) so it was not feasible.

Their plan was to partner with Califur and have each con have a fixed station viewing a public area where congoers at each site could wave to each other and maybe type notes back and forth.

I still think it would be a cool idea.

Actualy a few years ago I got a camcorder off of e-bay and set up a computer for streaming video/audio.  

The idea was for Furtopia events we could stream a feed for members to watch.  It was planned for Morphicon but the net feed was too over used.  We're thinking of a posible video to cell feed at our next big meet.

Well with a bit of efford this is possible.
And then in the form of live video broadcast with sound. No ewie refreshing image on some webpage. But streaming video.
And I am going to do it with mew year. www.mewyear.okill.net

With live encoding to a reflector and 2 relays I can serve about 300 vieuwers. :cool:

And if this is going to work alright on mewyear. I might do it also on other events ;)

Hmm, may have to try that at Morphicon since I get free internet with my cellphone. Yay for laptops! I could carry it in it's bag and put the webcam on my head :D
