Title: Colour scheme
Post by: Queen of Minimal on October 12, 2006, 02:46:49 pm
I was wondering whether this forum could have a brighter tone instead of this dark opposite end of the prism scheme?

A)This is not one of the Gothic forums
B)Psychologically a change of colour may infact bring on benefits including an uplifting feeling.
C) Black is a very depressing colour in all honesty.

Suggestions of colour schemes:

Okey, the top part is fine.
For the rest of the site:

A yellow. Kind of mellow yellow with black texting so you can see the writing.
The frame work, these lines that hold between them, for eg: COde buttons, smilies Topic Title, they should stay as they are or make them grey.

Who thinks this is a good idea? Other ideas welcome

I never quite noticed any negative effects from it.  Personally, I prefer this colour scheme: it's easy on the eyes.

I second that, and would add it's also very easy to read in low light settings.

Blue is my favorite color, and blends nice with black, white, and silver.  So I prefer this scheme.  And I think no matter what shade of yellow, any writing on it is hard to read.

But with all that said, I know not everyone has the same tastes, so I would agree with offering different schemes that members can choose from.  Another forum I'm on has at least 5 different schemes.  But it's a different type of board, and not sure if that can be done on here.

Low light is what I usually have...

And yeah, blue is my favourite colour too.

It's also nice if my roommate is asleep and I don't want my monitor to be all bright and wake him up. :)

Honestly, I can't stand bright colors. They hurt my eyes far too much. So I vote for leaving Furtopia's colors as they are.

As it is, sometimes the white font hurts my eyes, but the nice thing is that the black and dark blue balance out the white, so that I can rest my eyes for a bit.

I agree, since I have eyesight issues as well. I want to keep Furtopia's colors as they are. :)

Why is black so typicalized as gothic? I made ScotFurs black with white text and people say it's neo geek?

Black text on white or light background really hurts my eyes. And I can't stand things like red text on orange background, dark blue on light blue, if you were to change it, make sure to keep this as an opion please. If you couldn't get light text dark background I would leave Furtopia.

As long as the colours are contrasting (white text on black or black text on white) then I wouldn't have much trouble reading it, although a white background would mean I have to wear my shades whilst reading it :p

White text on a black background is fairly common on the Internet, and neither is it specifically gothic in fashion.

Too many people enjoy this design to bother changing it so drasticly. Sorry.
