There are many members including myself who are unable to recreate the entire URL script of an avatar. This makes one resort to pre programmed avatars.

There are members who see avatars as a symbol of individuality. Perhaps this has been debated before, but having a browse button enabling you to go onto your computer's document picture files with an avatar would be far quicker and no codes or complex URL text need be typed ever again.

We could have a restriction on avatar size which I think is already in place.

There are some browser functions which do auto resize. But lets stick with the non auto function. A browse button would allow those without knowledge about URL to have a personal avatar which would promote individuality.

Just wondering if this was possible. If it is, who would support this suggestion?

It would involve some work on the server side, but it is technically possible. I'll talk to the admin about this.

for members who can't host the avatar themselves we can host it for them.
After that all you have to do is Copy paste the url into the spot for it.

I thought it was a pain until I opened my own photobucket account.

Nocte is working on a Avatar system for members. When complete members will just be able to upload their own avatars. The upload will even properly resize them as well.

I kind of like the way you size it here. But the best way would be to upload it, then in the box, you either put in your dimensions, or put -1 for the default size. Another forum does this, it works great.

Yes, I like that one. But an upload button could come with problems like an image being too big, or not a supported file type. Photobucket, in my opinion, is the best.
