I think we should really have a file size limit for avatars... I always see people who have these 500k to 1 meg sized avatars that wreck havoc on dialup users..

That is something that has been looked into and we have discussed a few different options- I will bring it up again at the next town hall meeting tho as we do need to act on it. Members should be linking to an image that is the same size as the image posts at, not to a full size file.

In the meantime please PM me with the member names of those you've found and we will act upon them. We do remove avatars that are linked to large files, particularly the animated ones, as we run across them but there are simply to many members for us to find each one daily.

That's something we don't really have any automatic way of controlling. It's simple netiquette to use properly sized avatars. Firstly for the fact that dial-up users suffer and secondly because it's rude to waste a web provider's bandwidth on something that's frequently viewed on a forum but not necessarily all that important.

When we encounter such situations, staff will generally PM a reminder to the user to remind them of proper netiquette.
