Ugh its terrible here in Kuwait even if it rains here in the desert my uniform with still be hot and sweaty from either the Sun burning down upon us or the humidity will suck the life out of me.

I'll never understand all the love people have for the warmer weather (the 60's). It was in the mid 60's for most all of the last two weeks... it felt warm and stale, there were bugs everywhere, and everything that isn't paved was mud. It sucked.
For now, it's finally back down in the low to mid 30's, and snow is expected tonight. it's so much nicer.

currently it's 66F 19c in san jose. and summer is coming soon.... so i might be expecting about 80-90F in a few months.
also my room is upstairs on the side of the house that is exposed to more sunlight which makes my room ever hotter, which leads to my computer having over heating issues (2 fans pointing at it's open case) and makes it pretty uncomfortable up here. (tho i do like it more than when my computer was downstairs and i didnt have any privacy)

What a change in events the desert took a turn around today when all of a sudden the temp dropped from 87* to a cool 46* f and started a sand storm the vision was for 5 meters of visibility. The entire posted was inoperable and then we had to "undig" all the barracks and tents hehe it was my chance to show a little inner furry and dig through the sand like a raccoon foraging for food. Time well spent ^_^

The weather here is generally pretty cold around this time of year and today was no exception. There was a bit of rain too. The wind likes to blow in from the ocean and make the whole city miserable, haha.

Rainstorms Thursday night and through to Friday morning. Standing water in neighbor's yards. Some wetness in my basement. High winds until about 1800h on Friday--helped dry things out.
The sump pump has been running frequently now, but it's Saturday and the Sun is out.

That full moon was very bright in Northwest Oregon. Lit everything up gently with a slightly blue tint to it. It was beautiful, cold but beautiful. The moon was bright enough to make the sky blue. This was at 11pm last night.

You can NEVER trust Oregon for consistency in terms of weather. Last week, it was warm, almost hot for this time of year, now it's cold and there were predictions for hail yesterday. It sprinkled for five minutes. It smells amazing outside and it's perfect temps for a light jacket right now. Maybe it smells good because it's bout to rain or because I'm surrounded by 20 miles of wheat. Either way, it smells great.

It's staying cold here as well. It's supposed to get up into the mid 50's by next Wednesday. People will be passing out from the heat... We haven't had a freeze like this is a good hand full of years. I'm glad we finally got one. it will kill off a lot of the bugs and a few of the critters that are not indigenous to this area.

In the next few days the weather will become milder. It will generally remain cloudy, but the chance of rain will decrease. The wind will weaken a little bit as the week progresses and the temperature will slightly rise up to around 13 degrees average.

We've been experiencing some dense fog in the mornings and evenings these past few days. Daytime temps in the mid-30s, dropping below freezing at night. Last night, after dark, it was like driving under a blanket. Street lights wouldn't shine upward, it seemed.

Some people think the Denver air would be clear because we "are in the mountains", but in reality, we are in the plains, and surrounded by hills on all sides, so we are in a depression and the cold polluted air sits there. We call it the brown cloud, but our tourism board denies it exists and deliberately takes photos of the town and countryside when its at minimum. So FAKE! Some romanticize it and cal it a Broncos Sunset. Our football team is the Denver Broncos and has colors of blue and orange. Like the orange pollution contrasted with cloudless blue skies. No, its supposed to be clear and sky blue, no red or orange or brown.

Preparing for this bombastic low pressure cyclone that is supposed to dump up to 12 to 18 inches of wet snow in parts of the state. Almost all schools canceled. "Survived" an F0 tornado (funnel) that momentarily touched down in my town. It was basically a huge wind storm. Temps went from 95 to about 62 in only 15 min. 60mph winds with small hail. Thing is this doesn't happen near where I live. Normally. 1" of rain in that time frame

Land locked Colorado, with it's Arizona weather. Sure we have mountains... but bulk of states population live where the jobs are which is below 7000ft, aka whole eastern half of state. So we really are more like new mexico weather or Nebraska weather etc...hot, more dry, aka fire prone.
If you live in leadville Colorado at something like 10200 ft...you are experiencing 37F tonight and 74F for a high tomorrow. Too bad in winter that place gets temps like -25F and 10feet snow ...

it had been pretty warm here in Colorado for a while, I'm in an area that is kind of plains and kind of light desert so it's not very humid which is a welcome change from Texas where the humidity never dropped below 60% (except on very very rare occasions.
But yesterday it dropped down to 2 degrees C which I think is around the mid thirties in F. We've had a snow warning as well. Even when I was living in northern Texas snow was rare. You'd only see it around February when we were as deep into winter as it gets before climbing into Spring. This Colorado cold coming so suddenly is completely alien to me. :'(
I'm not used to it being this cold till really late in winter and here it is at the starting gun of Fall.
I like the cold sure but only cause I can usually warm up easily. And I have the rest of Fall and Winter to go through before it warms up again... I think I'm freeze my tail feathers off. Definitely me a heater and some warmer clothes tomorrow when I go to the store.

Hi Kobuk. It would seem the fire is 20 miles south of me. The news and police scanner finally got me some data. It's a grass fire with high winds. But my fire department is all there. So hope there is no fires in town. :o it could spread to tree land. I hope not.

My fire is heading away from me. Thankfully. At night the winds switch back, so it is expected to come over it's burned area which would be good because it would die. Or it could come back and try to go around the burn area... fires area almost living things. But I should be safe.

I guess I officially got old, or something is wrong because it's cold enough outside I can't seem to get the house warm enough for my fingers and toes to be warm. I used to be able to tolerate cold temps, but not so much now. Bundling up only helps some. walking dog fast while bundled up might do it. Or a hot shower followed by getting into bed.

I've been told this by my mom as well as my apt. manager in the past: If you live in a place with low/bad insulation and/or other heating problems, keep the cabinet doors under your kitchen and/or bathroom sink open to allow any potential heat to circulate under there so your pipes don't freeze. If you can't keep the doors open due to children or pets due to safety reasons, then please confer with friends or other people for alternative solutions.

Back in texas when it would get down below freezing temps we would turn the taps on to slowly drip or trickle just a tad in order to keep some water flowing which keeps the pipes from freezing over.
I asked my housemate how they handle it here in colorado and seems some homes have a furnace that keeps the pipes warm. I've also seen folk selling pipe insulation and even pipe warmers here.

All the more reason to reject having smart device enabled home features. It sounds nice remote controlling your AC and the lights in your house and all that other gadgety stuff but this incident is the best argument against that stuff and just keeping your home non digital.

I interviewed with TriState Generation (TriGen) in Colorado, they are a large electric commodities trader here. I heard murmurings there of it. Your electric meter can be turned off remotely also... so...just letting you know that.

Temps have been in the high 80/90's this week with high heat indexes making it feel like 105. Humidity has been around 50-60+%.
Just had major severe storms last night with heavy rains and damaging winds. Lots of power outages across southeast Wisconsin affecting somewhere between 100,000 to 200,000 customers. Power flickered slightly in my apt. building, but never fully went out. But all the apt. buildings around me have no power.......and still are without power as I'm writing this. Sucks to be them if they have ice cream in their fridge and it melts. :D
Good news: I have power.
Bad news: My building has no hot water right now. :(

It takes a lot of water to work with glass so the humidity is always higher where I work. And two large tempering ovens. So the humidity and temps are always 10 to 20% higher than it is outside. You know it's hot when you can come home to an air conditioner set at 80 and it feels cold. Temps are going to be in the low 90's again today. To get the idea of what it feels like where i work climb into a closed up car on a hot sunny day.

I have to wear a heavy kevlar turtle neck sweater and full chaps. Along with two layers of gloves and heavy leather boots. Top it off with a hard hat. Don't know how much heat earl plugs hold in but they are in the mix too. Doesn't take long to become soaking wet.
Today it's going to be in the 90's and rain.

Started sleeting last night around 11:00. Ended up with a layer of ice on everything. Heavy snow today and more coming tonight. Around six inches now. Eight or more later on tonight. Our state highway dep. doesn't want any vehicles on the roads. Right now it's really quiet outside. Place I work at gave me today and tomorrow off. I'll get a call to see if I come in Friday.

Snow stopped yesterday afternoon. It is now -8F and still dropping.
I had a piece of cardboard which I used to absorb solvent (about 3 ounces) when I was cleaning something. This solvent is sort of dangerous and honestly, the best way to dispose of it is to burn it. If it evaporates, it can lead to ozone issues etc.
I laid the cardboard on the snow and lit it on fire.
The snow never melted! The snow acted like stone.
That is when you know it is cold, when fire on ice, ice wins!

It's been very hot and dry here, which i guess is apropos being a desert and all but by graces do i miss rain.
And I miss trees. There's a few trees here but i mean forests. Going down a road with trees on either side of you, the canopy of limbs overhead putting everything in shadow.
I even kind of miss seeing yards and grass, but only slightly. I still hate the idea of mowing.

Ugh, getting hotter here. Said it was going to be 86, now at 92
it did dry my fursuit head out however. First time it was ever washed :-[ . Put it in the tub with a support in it, and poured cold water/woolite over it. Kept doing that and gently massaging head till it was clean. Ran cold rinse water over it. let it sit there for an hour to drain before lifting it out.
Put it outside on a makseshift stand and blew fans on it at 90F heat.
It's dry. AND CLEAN!

I bought a , get this, mercury in glass thermometer, which is lab grade and measures 1 deg C intervals.
Why mention this? First it was available (yard sale), second it was only $15, and third, it is "calibrated", fourth it seems to be accurate and has shown my other thermometer to be inaccurate.
So I am using this now as a weather thermometer etc. I just fear .. if it breaks!
