Winter Wolf
« on: June 22, 2003, 02:42:43 pm »
Light of paw
and light of stars,
upon a pine the crows caw,
The once-pure land is full of scars,
as the wolf wanders near.

He crossed the cliffs
and climbed the hills,
he braved the cold and stiff,
Wolfen eyes watch as winter kills
the forest and the beasts.

And he stood upon a grey rock,
overlooking the land,
Overhead swooped a hawk,
The wolf held out his hand,
it flew right past him,
crying out,
'The day grows dim,
and you must be stout,
for winter comes,
and it is dead.'

But the wolf cared not,
he travelled so far.
He travelled through summer hot,
Daylights, and the morning star,
he crossed bridges,
and scrambled between many a tree,
across mountain ridges,
to be free, to be free,
and the prophecy of the hawk
was all too true,
Death is not a thing to mock,
but the wolf's coat would get him through.

Wolfen eyes blinded with snow,
He was crested in white
as he walked through the wind's blow,
Winter showed its might
through its primal force,
and the wolf was becoming weary,
and hungry for deer, moose, and horse.

At last he saw a cave,
and the wolf lad was glad,
For inside it could save,
from the winter mad.
So he stumbled inside,
and it was warm,
Here he would hide,
until Winter stopped its storm.

wonderful work, its very classical in its feel and imagery, very clean and uncluttered by to many details or unecessary fluff, i enjoyed it immensely, i hope to see more great work soon.
Or i could be wrong, its been known to happen,     a lot,       (headhang and sigh).

Nobu" means "faith", "trust" and "fiedelity". "naga" is the kanji for "long".

Heeeey! That was good. Is it part of a larger story or series? It seemed like that wolf had a long story to tell, but the poem just focused on the moment. It was really well developed and makes me want to read more. So are you gonna post more? Please??

That is truly a magnificient peice of work. Smooth transitions and uncluttered with unnecassary detail (Unlike most of my work..... '<img'> ). I love the idea of this becoming a series and hope to see where it goes, fore I have become very intrigued as to the why/where this wolf travels. Kudos on your work my friend!!
Life? Ha, the greatest joke. Tis surely proof that God has a sense of humor, all be it a sadistic one.
