The Oscars.
« on: February 26, 2017, 08:33:37 pm »
As I am a huge film fan and someone who might go into film, I love The Oscars so much and was wondering who felt the same. I'm not going to watch it live as I don't have cable in my room, so I'm recording it and then watching it later on tonight.

What are y'alls thoughts on The Oscars? Anyone you're hoping to win? Which category is your favorite and why?

I personally want JT to win the one he's nominated for.

Please don't post any spoilers for those who haven't watched it yet. :)

This year, I only care about Best Animated Feature, because those are the only ones I saw :).

I got tired of the political  BS by the celebrities.

Borrowing for a good friend who went to a  class by a film critic the Oscars s is  just  Hollywood  self congratulating itself and    " With umpty-thousand movies released worldwide in any given year, the chances of Academy members seeing any more than a tiny fraction of them, particularly films from outside of America, is virtually nil"

I never watch the oscars myself. But it is nice Zootopia got best
animated picture. It was very well done. I would have designed
the rabbits ears differently instead of like frozen pop sticks.

Personally I think the oscar award is more of a mutial admiration society
thing since only people in the business vote. It does give actors a leg up
in the business if they win one. It makes little or no difference to me who
wins as I judge a picture by my own standards not someone elses.

I used to watch the Oscars long, long, long ago. Like back in the 70's and 80's when there were a lot of good films I liked. But now........not so much anymore.  :P Last time I watched or cared about the Oscars was to see if the Lord of the Rings and/or The Hobbit trilogies won anything.

I think the one major thing that puts me off about the Oscars is that it takes so loooooooooonnnnnnnnggggggggg.  :P People really need to cut down on the length of their speeches when they're up at the podium.
