I saw this news article and I was shocked. :o I didn't think goldfish could get to be the size of footballs.

I knew they could get really big since they're related to carp but I had no idea they dug around in the sediment and uprooted plants like that. I've never had a goldfish before, actually I've never had a pet fish. Of any kind.

Well you know, it was all the nuclear radiation contaminated ground water that made it so large. :D

A coworker at the pickle packing plant had tossed a pet goldfish into our wastewater lagoons and it survived! It would surface to gulp air whenever the dissolved oxygen levels dropped due to the amount of nutrient load being discharged. The goldfish even had a name. The plant closed some years ago and the lagoons likely dried up.

Koi ponds were a sensation for a time. Oversize goldfish.

I've never had a pet Goldfish that big! But I've them live a long time!
