Title: Goldfish the size of footballs.
Post by: Kobuk on July 14, 2021, 04:19:02 pm
I saw this news article and I was shocked.  :o  I didn't think goldfish could get to be the size of footballs.
Don't throw your goldfish in a lake, folks.

I knew they could get really big since they're related to carp but I had no idea they dug around in the sediment and uprooted plants like that. I've never had a goldfish before, actually I've never had a pet fish. Of any kind.

Kind of freaky!
Well you know, it was all the nuclear radiation contaminated ground water that made it so large.   :D
Kidding.

A coworker at the pickle packing plant had tossed a pet goldfish into our wastewater lagoons and it survived! It would surface to gulp air whenever the dissolved oxygen levels dropped due to the amount of nutrient load being discharged. The goldfish even had a name. The plant closed some years ago and the lagoons likely dried up.
