Up Late?
« on: July 18, 2004, 03:00:12 pm »
I have a habit of staying up till 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning and sometimes not even sleeping at all. Normaly I would just read or listen to music but lately I've been doing...odd...things.

A few weeks ago at about 3am I got hold of some christmas stickers and decided to cover the bathroom door in them then I stuck a notice on my brothers bedroom door asking that he only be disturbed if you were bearing food.
But thats not the worst, not by a long shot! 2 nights ago I climbed out my window at 2 in the morning in my pyjamas and started weeding the front garden, I was out for about an hour until a police car came by then I climbed back in and fell asleep at the foot of my bed.
I've also been know to do entire jigsaws in a matter of hours during the night.

Is it just me or does anyone else do strange things when they're awake at night?

Im always up late too but I dont go outside much.. I just kinda wander around the house with my music playing. Pepe makes his rounds between 10 and 1 and I dont want to disturb him, he might spray me like he did the Emus.

I enjoy Biking 150 miles at 3 Am.  Just ask Siiwolf  '<img'>  That was one hell of a bike ride.    What's really fun though is biking through corn feilds watching the strange flashing lights in the sky.  But there seems to be a gap in my memory...

I get up to some fairly random stuff when im up late.....this can range from building really strange things (Includeing a table top trebuchet , potato cannon, torch from old garden lights.) To sneaking out and going to really random places, a few nights ago i went down to the local shopping center carpark and bladed for about 5 hours. Sometimes i wonder over to this abandoned house down the road and sit in there for a few hours on my own listening to music..lol

rofl Varg.....*shakes head* you're one unique guy... you're not serious about the cornfeild thing.. right? ''

actually, I have alot of problems getting to sleep, even if I'm extremely tired. I think this may be because of stress, and while I'm in school I never seem to get all my work done, but.. I don't really do odd things, or at least I don't think so.. not like you do. sometimes I do go out at night, or go on the roof that's over the porch, just outside my window, and eat weird things like cranberry sause, cause that was just what i ws in the mood for I guess. but hey if anyone has tips on how to sleep better, I've tried alot of things, but nothing has worked.. the advice would be much appreciated

Heres something for the city furs-- When I was living in San Fran in 1992 we used to get woke up between 2 and 3 am by the garbage men rolling cans down the drive into the carpark under our apartment. My Gran and I got tired of this so waited up one night for them. The man parked his truck perfectly and continued on to do his usual thing. Well when he started back to his truck after rolling the cans my gran and I,usung a huge plastic shopping bag. Waterbombed his butt. The bag hit the very top of his truck door and exploded water all over the place.
We ran off the balcony back in to the living room with him screaming and pushing buttons trying to figure out who had done it.
Id think twice about doing that now but you know.. he never rolled another garbage can down the drive. And never figured our from what apartment the waterbomb came from.

I remember a time when I had no problems sleeping.....ahhh yes....but I am now an insomiac and sometimes find fun stuff to do in the wee moring hours......like....I used to steal my parent's car(s) and joyride for a while then hang out with some friends.....now its mostly playing guitar, drawing, and talking online, but lately, I've felt kinda lost, so I haven't been online as much or even doing anything other than sitting in the dark, thinking.........

I'm a night owl myself o,o

I usually just watch TV, talk to myself (well..it's more like RPing with myself >..>), and lurk online at chatrooms or AIM.

Last year in the summer I came up with this crazy idea to draw six hundred and sixty six drawings and put them in a portfolio titled something to the affect like, "Late Night Ravings of an Artist's Mind" I only got as far as.... 1. A corkscrew demon.

heh heh that reminds me of when a group of mothers from Detroit came up to the University during the summer for whatever reason. They were really loud people and we would always hear them on the first floor so finally one day my room mate and I called out the window asking if we saw that, or saw this, and that caught their attention and they wanted to know what we were talking about (distance conversations with unknown/unseen people can be really amusing). We were in the middle of the city so we start talking about coyotes and how at night they will jump into people's houses at night and kill them. What was even better was they had never even heard of a coyote before and at that time nearby raccoons dumped over a trash can as my RM and I shouted "Right there, there it is!" They completely freaked out and started screaming. The next night our resident director had a meeting telling us that someone was trying to scare them and that the RD on the first floor wasn't too happy haveing to spend hours reassuring them that coyotes weren't dangerous and that whoever did it would be punished when caught (which never happened).

@Adamina: Yeah, that is actually true. What took us 4 hours during the day took us 8 hours at night, when we were actually going at a little faster speed during the night  ''

About three or four in the morning is best here. When you go walking out by the river at this time you get the mist starting to form around you and its all quiet brilliant . That n writing not much else I do at that time.

I'm usually up from 10 AM to 3 AM. If I could, I'd sleep during most of the day and stay up all night, but you know, school and crap, it'd be a bad habit to form. :P

If I happen to wake up and can't get back to sleep, I've been known to...
- Read more of a particular book I started
- Do about 50 push-ups or sit-ups (usually makes me tired again to want to go back to sleep)
- Do a nerdy thing like crimp lengths of ethernet cable ''
- Raid the fridge.
- Just lie there and think.

Television gets really strange late at night or early in the morning, which is when you can watch infomercials for products for male enlargement, or those Girls Gone Wild videos...  '<img'>

I always end up not being able to sleep, too. I usually draw... usually really weird things, but... I think most of my art could easily be considered weird, anyway...

Yeah, I used to nightguard in a dorm that had a TV in the lounge. I saw some very strange infomercials, including one for what was either a trashcan or a porto-potty. Neither my ex-roomie nor I could really tell '<img'> Those commercials got really screwed up.

What's amusing is when you're really tired, but hyped up on redbull or something. You do stuff that's so random and stupid that you have a good laugh.

Once I remember doing round-offs all over the lounge and playing frisbee with an AOL CD while singing "Dancing Queen" at the top of my lungs. '<img'>

Great memories.

Yea, I'm on a more or less noctournal schedule right now (I go to sleep when the sun comes up). For some reason you think different late at night. I like it. I always walk around the yard a lot for no good reason, but I do that anyway reguardless of the time of day. I just never get tired of it for some reason. Yard walking is always best at night. I'm tempted to go walking through town, but that probably wouldn't be very safe.

If I'm up late it's ususally because I can't get on the Internet until 11 or 12 pm at night when things are "slightly" slow, or I tend to drink too much Mt. Dew and the caffine is keeping me awake, or my upstairs neighbors who live above me are.....well...I can't say here, it's a PG-13 forum.  ''
