AC sells results!
« on: July 23, 2003, 10:47:13 pm »
Ok. Here are the links. I have updated the Anthrocon pages in both general and adult so that they reflect which pieces sold at Anthrocon!

"General Section"

"Adult Section"

The rest of the pieces will be put up for auction!

At this time, I have no intention of making copies of any of these pieces for sell.

ooh...your art is so pretty o.o
I espcially like your silhouette pictures. dark creatures, with lighter background always look really good to me.

I also really like how you color your pictures.

Hmm...i really need to start coloring more pictures with pencil...or real stuff. Photoshop is evil...

Zarathus, thank you. Yes, I like those silhouette ones too! I like black and when a piece is combined with black, it is so awesome as far as I am concerned.

As for coloring, mostly Prisma pencils and if there is a large background, like on the silhouettes, I used chalk. Except on the "Hopping Along" one. That I did with oil pastels and I really didn't like how it turned out. I tried using chalk and pencil over the pastels but it wasn't easy. I still didn't like how it turned out but that may be because I was so frustrated with it. '<img'>

I used to always use chalk, in my earlier works, till I started adding more details and since I couldn't get the details with the chalk I started using the pencils and really got to liking how they worked together. Lots of practice!

I did a couple piece on the computer, Corel Paint, I think it was in my really earlier days and they can be found on my website, but they don't compare to what artists are doing these days with that program or ones like it. I tried but I'm no good at it. I decided to stick with the pencils and what ever other mediums I use on paper in the future.

Katty, Thanks!! It was such a great feeling for sure. And my adult one, "Horsing Around" went to auction! This was my 4th con artshow I put work into and it is finally getting me noticed! '<img'>

When artists ask WS to agent their work for him in the artshow at AC he always tells them to put their work in as exposure and not worry about making money. Of course that is always a nice reward but there are so many people that go through those art shows that even if one doesn't sell anything, I know that feeling!, you haven't really failed. Why? Because look at all the people that walked by and 'noticed' your art work and looked at the artists name! I don't know how many people actually attended AC this year but it had to be at least a couple thousand folks and that is some great exposure!

I'm sorry that Patrick, Sumarra and Yael didn't sell anything this year but like I said above, great exposure and next year, one never knows!

Thank you, Sumarra! (gives you a big warm hug)

I was so busy putting up my work and getting yours ready to hang that I didn't get a chance to really look over your artwork. That was my loss!!!!

When we were packing them to send back to you I saw one that really caught my eye and it was an original and I almost cried that I didn't bid on it at AC!! Oh well. Will teach me for next year, won't it?  '<img'>

You really did have some great pieces there, Sumarra!

(giggles) I would have to go through your website again. Oh, wait a minute, I still have your list. Let me get it......

It was the "Hummer Girl". I remember when you posted her in the "Art contest". I thought she was fantastic!

I was helping WS put them into the box, BTW, did you get them yet? Anyway, I was helping WS and I looked at a couple of the backs, at the little tags and saw that the "Hummer Girl" was actually the original and told WS that if I had realized that when we put them up in the auction I would have bid on that one myself. I also liked the "Sea Dragon" but didn't want a print.  '<img'>

I remember you creating that one on your forum and I loved how it turned out. Some day. (smiles)

Let us know when you get those back! OH, BTW, we sent an extra frame since one of the glass pieces broke to one of your pics. The pits was yours are an off size so the glass from the frame was too small for your frame and your pic was too large for the other frame. Oh well. Didn't know what else to do except send you a whole other glassed frame.

You know, some day you will be able to go to AC, or us to Canada, and we can sit down and do some creating together. I think that would be such a hoot! *hugs*

<grins> Oh that one! I spent a lot of time working on her and her background too.

I just got them back today and they arrived in good condition. I want to thank you and WS for packing them up so well. I was talking to the guy at the mailbox and he said anything shipped in the mail has to be able to withstand a six-foot drop. My jaw hit the floor and I was really worried but luckilly nothing broke or bent.

And thanks for the extra frame. I'll make good use of it.  '<img'>

Now that I have these back I'll be putting some of them up for auction on Furbid soon. I'll be sure to put the Hummergirl Original up so you can have another chance at it, Kada.  '<img'>

Yay! I'm glad you got them back. Sorry for not responding sooner but my computer was down (apart) as WS was upgrading it and then some meds I was taking knocked me on my back for a couple days an I slept basically for 48 hours! Doing better today though!

Yeah, WS knows what the mail is like and he wanted to make sure nothing happened to your art on its way back home. We have tons of the packing stuff so we weren't worried about running out and he wanted those pieces to be well insulated from the rigorous adventures of travel!

'<img'>  Cool! I will be looking forward to seeing her back up!

If you can make next year to AC, we will have a whale of a time!
