I appreciate the lack of a "standard".  It's a self-definition; Their's no requirements to participate or enjoy it, and everybody can get involved in whatever ways they desire.  If anything bothers me, it's elitist communities; and although I'm sure there are plenty of elitist furs out there, inclusive communities like Furtopia are evidence to me that they could never control the fandom - it will always remain open and free :).

If it weren't for the costumes and becoming the animal that you love, I wouldn't even be a fur, it's just that simple.  Also being accepted as being the animal that you love.

My favorite thing about furry would have to be a tie between just how furries are easy to talk to compared to many others in my opinion and the art itself.
