Dany UpdateDany and I are moving house.
As some of you might know, I lived for the last two years with four other people. Dany was a house pet, rescued by one of the other girls in the house from a person who didn't know how to look after her, had done a crap job, and didn't want her any more. We've shared her food, vet and heating bills. As soon as I became attached to her (which was pretty much the first time she crawled up to me and licked my fingers), I would have nightmares about when we all went separate ways and she would get taken away from me. Touchingly, my housemates all decided that I should be the ones to take her. So it's official. She's now my pet. And so, in the next month, Dany and I are moving into a two bedroom flat with my friend Brian.
Dany's recovered from laying 50something eggs in the space of a month. She's putting on weight again and is nearly back to her usual self, although is a lot more active than she used to be. At the time of writing this, I have her loose up in my bedroom. She's done a lap of the bed, climbed up and down me, licked everything around her including every side of my phone, and is now making a pest of herself by trying to use my laptop.
She isn't very good at it.
The actual move is going to be tough on her. She'll be unhappy at the view from her tank being different and will probably go off her food, and I won't be able to really take her out of her tank for hugs until she's more settled in. When we first got her, it took her nearly two months before she would eat anything, and then she had to be handfed. To get her to the new place, I'm going to have to bundle her in blankets in a box with a hot water bottle in. Which she associates now with the vet, who she loathes (he's cold, he picks her up and flips her upside down, and it smells weird there).
Here is a nice big picture of pretty little Dany and her adorable boogly eyes :3 It's too big for me to paste it into this message and I don't want to resize it, so you'll have to follow the link
