No option for "The original SW movies were awesome but the most recent 3 were terrible and I also love LotR to death"

Why no.. both are good, option? Since you can't compare them to the least.. Not all made at the same times, total different setting etc.

I chose The Lord of the Rings for the awesome special effects and because Orlando Bloom, Sean Astin and Elijah Wood were really good and plus I personally thought that Orlando  looked really cute

Sure you can. Same theme (good vs evil), similar characters (Gandalf and Obi-Wan?), similar plot (adventure to different lands on a quest to save the world/universe).
Yes, I am the one who voted "They both suck". I'm not into stories like that.

No, Eragon was more similar to Star Wars than LOTR.

Plus...

Any excuse to see the model of a Balrog used for Twilight Princess = ftw.

I prefered Lord of the Rings, but that's more because I'm a fantasy fan than anything else (sci fi has never really interested me).

As movies though, I think they're both rather good but do operate on similar themes and conventions. Eragon rips off both however.
The only difference between a mad man and a sane one is that one of the two has a very blurred perception of reality.

The other gets dressed up in a straight jacket and kept locked away from the rest of society.

I dunno, I thought the Eragon film skipped over too much (trying to squeeze in the book I guess) and as a result I didn't feel very involved with the plot.

Nulled my vote.  They were both OK but I didn't really go crazy over either one.
