First, if you haven't seen the puzzle, go try it out before reading this. Then when you feel you've answered it to your satisfaction, come here and lets us know what you got.

This puzzle is looking for the lowest total.

So far the lowest total I have gotten is 86.

I got 59, without crossing over any. How much does it cost to cross over?
