Title: FRAPS
Post by: Firebreath on November 11, 2003, 12:11:44 am
FRAPS is a great little program I found.
Basically, it records, with or without sound, as you prefer, a 3D game that you play on a AVI file on your HDD, in real time.
Although it DOES affect gameplay, seriously, it's something that had to be expected. After all, it IS reading the frame buffer of the video card, can't expect not to have any hit on performance.

But then again, if you have a good machine, then you probably can do it without too many problems. Myself, I record at 1024x768 (half-resolution on file) and I usually drop to 10-15 FPS, which is still reasonable.

And, really, for 39.99$US, it's a steal! Considering that other apps that do this are usually 200$US+, really, I'm quite pleased with the program. ^^

the fps for games should be around 60 fps but the version of FRAPS I got don't record sound AND doesn't let the fps rate go higher than 30fps.
