Thunder crashed, foretold by the massive, jagged streaks of lightning that crackled across the sky. A sky dark and swirling with anger, unleashing its fury down upon the city below. Rain fell in a massive downpour, a storm like this had not been seen in the past twenty years. Somehow, through this horrendous mess of nature's fury, a lone military hovercraft struggled through the turbulence and howling winds, inbound for the military airstrip on the rampart in the military district.
"Alright ladies, listen up! We're landing in twenty minutes, but there's a slight problem!" Captain Monroe, a wolf in his mid-thirties, shouted over the winds and storm outside the main cargo bay at the rear of the hovercraft. "Landing gear and hover controls were disabled by the storm, which means we're not even slowing down! Hope you enjoyed the airdrop onto guelile point three months ago, because this time you have an even smaller target! Airstrip helipad, Siluis is first, Faye, you and...." The captain went on to list the order the entire detachment was going to para drop in, but it faded into the background noise. He sat across from her, silent, unfazed by the fact they were about to attempt a High Altitude Low Opening airdrop from 10,000 feet with a target landing zone 50ft by 50ft. Then again, he is the most celebrated special operations trooper of the past decade, respected throughout the entire military. For the first time since they had been called to the cargo bay, Siluis moved. He leaned forward, looking at her, though it was impossible to tell with his full face helmet, and said, "Second time HALO jumping?"
Meanwhile, in district opposite that of the military, atop the city rampart, the vicious storm was not a problem at all, merely booms of thunder and howling winds, driving rain pounding at the skylights in the concrete roof of the slave housing Aspen and Gruwel, along with five other slaves, called home. The housing consisted of three cells for two slaves, with concrete side walls and iron bars for the front wall, complete with two hard wooden beds with thin mattresses and threadbare sheets, a room for the slave overseer of the work team of six, and a small commons area with a couch, table for four, counter with cabinets and board games inside, as well as a tv sunk into the wall, behind a thick clear glass panel that made it inaccessible, just like the skylight had thick steel bars 3inches in diameter. The door to the housing was made of solid titanium, five inches thick, and of course, locked from the outside with steel deadbolts in the door itself like a safe. The concrete walls were steel reinforced and seven inches thick, with no windows. Aspen and Gruwel had shared a cell since they were bought a month ago.
(Remley only)Meanwhile, in the military district, at the castle-like control center, in its northern tower, 12th floor, the storm was all too apparent for the four military patrollers bunking in the room. Shawn O'Hare, a snow leopard whose identical twin brother was a slave somewhere in the city, sighed and gazed out the window across the sprawling, storm-enveloped city. "He's out there, I know it..."
In fact, Riley O'Hare was indeed out there in the storm, panting as he dashed along the road towards blades' mansion. He knew the thief took in escaped slave girls, perhaps he'd take in a boy. He heard barking behind him, and shouts. They were on to him, and gaining, even as the leopard put on a burst of speed to reach the estate grounds ahead of his pursuers. "Help me!! He cried out.

Aspen sat in the corner of the room pouting, grumpily thinking to herself ~"i'm to pretty to be in this stupid box, there were girls uglier than me in masters harem"~ she looked up at the ceiling ~"I shouldn't even be in the work team...i'm too pretty for manual labor"~

Gruwel walked up to the iron bars. He flicked at them, then turned around slowly, and leaned against them. He was actually quite content here. Well, since he'd seemingly been born with little to no emotion, that wasn't much of a surprise. He rubbed the large, breathing mask strapped over his mouth and nose. Gently he rubbed his finger over one of the thin, artificial veins that went from the device, down under his shirt. He blinked his pinkish eyes, and stared off into the cell.

Faye simply nodded as she put a rebreather. "How'd you guess? Wish I'd taken that refresher course for airborne..." she sighed "Just relax Faye...you got this."
Blades was inside his lavish mansion playing a tune on the violin. Aftre a little while he radioed to Mira "Hey Mira, have the snipers do a quick scan of the property. Look for anything unusual." "Can do." Mira responded. Blades knew he couldn't go out for a swim with the storm and all. A bit down about that, he decided to head to the game room. He activated his game console and began playing an RPG.

"I've had more than a few drops like this. You have no need to be scared." Silus said, leaning back and resuming his silence, while the clock counted down to their arrival.
Riley broke through the private forest, in view of the snipers, still pursued by a pack of Slave catchers. "Help!!" He cried out again, not slowing at all.
The slave overseer, a slave, walked by their cells. "Everybody alright?"

Aspen sat haughtily in the corner, not saying anything other than "Wish I had a book"

"Yes." Gruwel said plainly. He seemed so content here, it was almost scary. He directed his attention to Aspen. He stared at her, observing the rabbit, head to toe.

Sniper team delta caught wind of Riley and the slavers. Mira radioed to Blades "Hey Blades you're gonna love this...Got sight of a group of slavers chasing a male escapee into your private forest." Blades grumbled as he paused the game "Don't people ever knock anymore...Wipe out the slavers, keep the kid alive...have a couple of your boys out there at the door to greet him." "Can do, Delta team weapons free, keep the slave alive master wishes to talk to him." The sniper team took aim at the slave catchers and about three guards clad in their merc company's armor waited at the front door for Riley.
Faye kept looking at the clock tick down. "Exactly what are we doing here again? Trying to keep my mind off the drop, the less I anticipate it the better." Faye shouted over the storm.

The slavers were caught unawares, and the snipers made short work of them. Riley arrived at the door, panting, looking up and instinctively taking a step back when he saw the guards, gasping quietly. "I-I'd like to see b-blades...." He said, before panting again. The snow leopard looked up at them again, guessing one of them was scanning his collar for his I.D.
"Enforcing the law in a city where the civvie police doesn't exist." Silus replied, dead serious. He wasn't joking about this like the others were. "The crime here is worse than fighting a terror cell, this one is more deadly than anything."

Faye sighed a bit "That bad, huh?" she thought back to her past "If it's slavers we're going against...I have an idea of how they operate." she tried not to think about her childhood, growing up with her father as a slaver. Witnessing all the beatings and such...it was rather painful for her.
One of the guards gave Riley a quick patdown "He's clean boss." the second guard nodded "Alright, come with us. Master Tavare wishes to see you as well..." The guards were silent as they led Riley through a rather lavish foyer with many pricey paintings and statuary. They brought him to a small dining room and sat him down. There was a glass of cold water and a dish of assorted candies there for him. The third guard nodded "Wait here, Master Tavare should be down shortly."

Silus nodded. "Slavery, drug dealing, all the criminal enterprises. Basically, we're waging a war against countries." He replied. Silus had seen slavery, in many of his Covert ops.
Riley looked around, and nodded. "Thank you." He said. The leopard shot another furtive look around before he drank the glass of water, and snatched a few candies, wolfing them down. He hadn't had stuff like that in a long, long time. Riley felt out of place, in his threadbare robe, ragged trousers, and boots so ragged you could only tell they were made of cloth, with his slave collar on still.(if what we discussed in PM about what the fugitive slaves do, then he(blades) won't remove it.)

Blades came downstairs a few minutes later, dressed in his usual attire. He sat down across from Riley "So...You must be the one who was crazy enough to run the 'green mile' to my mansion." He looked him over, seeing he was rather bone-thin and tired. "What's your name kid? You look like absolute hell..."
"Oh believe me...I should know about all that." Faye looked out at the storm "You've read up on my file, right...you should know."

Riley nodded, sighing. "My name is Riley, sir. I know you only take in fugitive girl slaves, but..." He started to cry softly, the feelings of twelve years of slavery coming out. "I want to see my brother, I want a decent meal, and sir, I'd do anything to get either of those. I'm willing to work for you as a slave, but please, treat me right." He begged blades, the tears flowing freely down the cheecks of the drenched snow leopard. He was crying full on now.
Silus smirked behind his helmet, that's what he'd been doing since they were called here. "Yes, I have. Tell me, do you still have any contact with a family known as the Tavares? One of them, Blades, has set up shop in a district. He's driven out the crime lord there and is allowing the police to attempt to reassert control, so long as they ignore him totally."
The overseer slave snorted. "If you want a book, get off your lazy butt and go get your data pad with all your novels on it." He said, moving on.

Blades sighed a bit and shook "You're right, I usually only take in fugitive girls but you wouldn't last a day out there..." He got up and patter him on the shoulder "I think I can bend the rules this one time, you could really use the help kid." he smiled a bit to reassure him.
Faye's memories instantly sparked when Blades Tavare came up. "Actually yes...Me and Blades are childhood friends, we were also romantically close at one point but it wouldn't have worked with me having to run away." she remembered back three years ago. "He actually helped me get away from my slaver father when he was sixteen. He's got good in him."

she sat in the corner and continued to pout...didn't master like her anymore? or maybe he had gotten a new slave, someone prettier to replace her,maybe she was being taught not to attempt to escape anymore.

Riley simply nodded, crying still. he calmed after a moment. "Sir, what can I do to earn my keep?" He asked, wanting something to do, some form of direction. "Where will I sleep and such?" he asked as well, dead tired and exhausted mentally and physically, but still aware enough to see to the basics first.
Silus nodded. "Yes, as I said, he drove out a crime lord and is allowing the police to regain control. I have a full pardon and government contract to allow him to continue his current activities, so long as they are committed solely against crime lords."
The wind continued to howl outside, and her pouting went unanswered as the overseer went back to his room, closing the door.

"Basically, you'll belike a servant here. Cooking and helping maintain the estate mostly. But for today, I'm gonna have your collar adjusted and have a doctor look at you, then i'll allow you the day to settle in, maybe talk with the others a bit and get some actual rest." Blades walked Riley over to a window, pointing out what was dubbed 'The Longhouse.' "That's were you'll be resting your head along with all the other fugitives I house. Don't worry though, I fixed it up nice...like I'd wanna be treated."
Faye nodded "I'll admit...it'll be rather odd meeting him again under these circumstances, government pardon or otherwise." she checked her visor "Storm's getting pretty bad."

Gruwel squinted at Aspen. She didn't seem very content here. He stood, and began feeling across the walls. He found a structural weakness every now and again, and kicked at it, but nothing happened. He spoke in a raspy voice "A woman of your… appearance must have done something to get in here."

Riley ended up leaning on blades for support, sighing softly. "thank you... Just one question before all that happens, how will you be adjusting my collar? what're you going to do with it?.."
Silus nodded again. "Yes, that's why we're getting issued jetpacks." He said, just as monroe shouted, "ALRIGHT LADIES< FORM UP A LINE AND GET YOUR JETPACKS!!!" Silus, already having one, didnt get in line.

Blades patted Riley on the back "Your welcome Riley, as for adjusting your collar i'll be removing the electrical prongs, loosening it a bit, and altering the ID tag so it'll say you belong to me rather than your previous owner." he pulled a few tools out of a drawer "Now have a seat, this should go quickly."
Faye got in line and got a jetpack. She stood next to Silus as they got ready to jump, "Ready as i'll ever be I suppose."

"Leave it tight. I dont want it off until I'm free." Riley said as he sat down. "I dont want it off until I can see my brother again..."
'Indeed." Silus replied, and lept from the aircraft, plunging to the ground with frightening speed.

Blades nodded "Alright, but I have to alter the ID if you wanna pass as one of my people." he said as he cut the electrical prongs. He ran a wire from the ID chip to a hack module. After a few minutes of security bypass, he accessed it and changed the owner over to him. Blades patted his shoulder again "Alright kid, now you belong to me. You want something to eat while I call up the doctor?"
Faye looked on into the storm as Silus jumped down "Well...viva la vida." she quickly followed Silus' lead, feeling the harsh winds against her face as she fell.

"I blew up the bathroom and stole a hoverbike trying to escape" she looked over at him "you?"

Gruwel looked over at Aspen. He stared at her for a long moment. Then he turned back to the wall. "I was bred illegally in a lab. It was ran by organized criminals, they wanted to make me into something that had a unique disregard for life, something that lacked most all emotion. They never finished, I was about twelve when the police came an killed them all. I guess they just didn't know what to do with me. So they put me into the slave auction. It was a good idea on their part. A slave that is completely obidient, that simply... lacks the will of freedom." He paused. "If only such a slave existed."

She couldn't believe he had bought her story about why she was in here, in reality, she had no clue why she was in here "so the experiment didn't work?"

Gruwel's voice didn't change at all when he spoke, despite the obivious criticism he was bestowing on Aspen. "Your appearance must be making up for your inability to pay attention." He turned towards the rabbit, his pink eyes looking angry. "I said that they never finished." And with that he walked away from the wall, sitting on his bed and again feeling his breathing mask.

"sorry, ADHD runs in my family...besides, they didn't finish doesn't mean they were not sucessful, for all I know they were in the testing phase" she flopped on to the bed tugging at her collar she ripped a small piece of leather from her shoes and wedged it under the prongs "ah...thats better, no zapping, no poking, but all the smell of singed flesh"

Gruwel snapped his head up, glaring at Aspen. "I think I know my own history, you stupid rabbit." His eyes widened, and he leaned his head down sighing, embarrassed. "This experiment did not succeed, it was not completed. I want to leave as much as the next guy. I simply... lack the ability to show it." He paused, looking back up at the rabbit. "And all the rest of the time, I simply have nothing better to do than work."

Riley nodded. "Yes sir, thank you... Do you have any clothes you could spare?... I'm sorry sir, I shouldnt have asked." He said, looking down, seeming as though he were anticipating punishment, another sign of how he was abused and malnourished. The snow leopard was very emotional right now.
Silus floated over to her, speaking on a private channel to her, guiding her down. "Jetpack on in three, two, one, FIRE!" he said, his own jetpack kicking to life with a roar.

Blades nodded "Yeah. After the doctor sees you, i'll let you get cleaned up and out of those rags." As he went into the kitchen, he called up a doctor "Hey Doctor Adelstein, I got another one who'll be staying with me. Think you could make a housecall?...Okay, thank you." He came back with some skewers of teriyaki chicken and a plate of sushi. "Here, eat up kid. The doctor will be here in a while."
"Got it!" Faye answered as she flipped the switch on her jetpack. She flew right up next to Silus "Not as bad as I remember...lead the way."

Riley looked at him, and nodded. "Thank you sir... When do you want me to report for duty? My previous master had be wake at 3am and work until 11pm." He asked, staring at the plate of food hungrily. "Master, may I eat?" He asked blades, feeling embaressed for showing his wanted food afterwards. He'd not had a kind and caring master previously. In fact, he'd not done heavy manual for his previous master until recently. He'd been a house slave, but his master hadn't just used him in one way. It showed on his face.
There were several other flares of light as the others fired up their jetpacks. They began a more controlled rapid descent to the surface. It went smoothly and they touched down lightly.

Faye gracefully landed down with the others. "Alright Captian, lead the way. What's our first order of business? Contacting the 'authorities' or touching base with Blades?"
"Please do, Riley." he sat across from him, noting his face and such "You don't look like you've done a lot of heavy work guessing from how thin you are...you look like you've seen more than someone your age should see." Blades guessed that Riley couldn't be much older than sixteen.

Silus turned. "Gentlemen and ladies, we need to check in with military command here, get our barracks, and then settle in for the night. We can't do anything in this storm." He said over the helmet com, before delegating a few to recieve the gear drop and the rest to accompany him to the HQ of the military district in Kaizon Prime.
Riley nodded. "Yes sir..." He said softly, beginning to eat looking at his food. "I-I...." He started to say, stopping and looking down. "I don't wanna talk about it right now.... Maybe tommorrow after I'm done with my tasks for the day, if you still want to know." He said, before eating.

"It's okay, a couple of my girls here been though a lot as well. Some more than others..." Blades answered. "Like I said, you can just relax for today after the doctor examines you. As for the work schedule, Everyone's day begins at 8am which is cooking breakfast for everyone yourselves included, it's like a big family meal. Then after breakfast everyone gets their individual jobs for the day and work usually wraps up between 8 and 9pm depending on how vigilant a worker you are. Also on Sunday, there's only the morning shift of work so you'll have the afternoon to relax and use the mansion's venues." he explained as Riley ate.
Faye followed Silus to the military HQ, looking around as the storm ravaged the city around her tossing her rain-dampened hair every which way. "If things are as bad as I've heard around here, I'm surprised the military here's held out this long." she checked her visor's HUD and saw it was going haywire "Storm's even messing with my visor."

Riley nodded and swallowed before he spoke, "I assume we eat when we're finished then?" He asked, sighing as he continued to eat. At least he had some time off...(Blades does know its after 10pm, right?)
"They've survived by making this district the most heavily fortified military base in the region. Anything that gets within 300m of this place without proper ID is immediately destroyed. I can show you the defenses in the morning." Silus replied to her, as the entered the base command center reception area. The next hour was spent going through procedures of checking in, before getting assigned to one of the tower barracks, skyscrapers large enough to be a standard barracks on one floor. Each soldier had their own room with five bathroom/showers on each floor, as well as a central commons area divided into a living room, game room, and dining room with a kitchenette on one wall. Siluis took the three room commander's suite.

"I forgot to mention I gave a small break at 1pm and 6pm for lunch and dinner respectively. It's just breakfast is the big meal of the day for everyone. Me, my defense lieutenant, and the fugitives now including you all gather around a big table and eat like a family." Blades answered. "It's important for all my 'slaves' so to speak feel loved, like someone cares about them." As Riley finished eating, there was a knock at the door "That must be the doctor."
Faye looked around their barracks "Well they certainly keep the place up well..." she took a two-room suite, took off her armor and slipped into something a touch more comfortable. She suddenly thought about Blades "Three years since I've seen him...gonna be odd meeting like this."

Riley nodded. "Thank you sir. Can I take my break at 5? I feel sick if I haven't eaten by 5:30." He asked, the hesitantly added, "and sir, if you're not having company or otherwise engaged, may I eat with you at dinner?" He said, just as the doctor came in.(you take the doctor, I'll tell the results of his tests.)
It was late, and Silus sent out a message to everyone's comms, "Lights out. You need rest."

Blades smiled and nodded "Yeah, I think I can make those arrangements." He looked over to the doctor, a middle-aged lynx woman who spoke with a slight Russian accent. "Good evening to you Blades." she looked over to Riley "Is this the one i'll be looking at today?" "Yes he is, Riley this is Doctor Linda Adelstein." she walked over and shook his hand "Pleasure to meet you Riley, please follow me." she led him to a small room with a bed and some machinery. "Now dear, take your shirt off and lie down."
"Alright, got'cha." Faye quickly turned out the lights in her room and pulled the blankets over herself, listening to the wild storm just outside.

Riley mumbled a hello to the doctor, before following her, nervously, tail twitching in anxiety and... was that fear blades smelled coming off of Riley? it was. He very, very nervously took off his shirt, as though he'd done it several times before, before lying down. he twitched slightly, shuddering as bad memories shot to the forfront of his mind. his fur stood on end, fear in his voice as he asked, "What are you going to do to me???"

Doctor Adelstein had assessed all Blades' fugitive girls and knew what he was feeling. She grabbed her stethoscope and patted his shoulder "Don't worry, I'm just gonna listen to your heart and lungs, make sure your breathing and heart rate are normal." She held the stethoscope on his chest and listened to his heartbeat "Now, just breath naturally..." she said as she moved the stethoscope around his lungs. As she listened, she also examined his chest and arms for any physical signs of abuse.

"you have free will enough to want free, someimes you just have to force yourself to act...i'm tired, i'll talk to you in the morning" she rolled over on the bed and closed her eyes

Riley nodded, doing as she asked. his arms and chest were bruised beneath his fur, but his breathing was shorter than a normal fur's. His heartbeat was normal, though.

Gruwel nodded, and laid down on his bed. "Indeed." His breath running through the large tube that came from his mask, went down under his shirt, and into his chest, echoed throughout the room quietly. He stared at the ceiling for a long while before nodding off.

Doctor Adelstein noted the results in her datapad. "Well your heartbeat's strong, that's good." she thought about his slightly shortened breathing "However, I think you may have developed some mild form of asthma. Do you find yourself struggling to breath at times?" she reached into her bag and pulled out a butterfly needle and blood vial.

Riley nodded, "yes, sometimes I do. Usually when Im working myself hard, doing manual labor, running for awhile..." He said, trailing off as his eyes briefly unfocused, shuddering as he relived some horrifying moment, moaning softly, "make it stop, no, no, no!" His entire body tensed, his back arching as his face contorted in grimace of absolute pain and violation, before he collapsed, passed out.(done. T-yoshi, he's not waking up until morning, and aside from the fact he's unconscious, he's fine. Take control of him to finish out the night, then I'll RP the morning.)

Blades came into the room to see Riley passed out. "He must have had a flashback...he's out cold." Blades sighed "Well...anything out of the ordinary with him?" "From what I gathered he's got mild asthma and some evident signs of abuse...that and he could afford to gain a little weight. Other than that, he's fine." she pulled a boxed inhaler out of her bag "Here, since you have one as well you can show him how to use it." she quickly placed a tourniquet on Riley's arm, sanitized the area and drew a vial of blood. "I'll run the requested blood test and get the results to you tomorrow night. For now, let the boy rest..." Doctor Adelstein said as she walked out. Blades placed a bandage where she drew the blood and pulled the blanket over Riley "Sleep tight Riley..." Blades closed the door and headed up to his quarters, falling asleep shortly after.

Riley slept fitfully, his dreams nightmares of his past, waking up several times, breathing heavily in a cold sweat. The snow leopard was scared, forever. Each time he woke up, Riley moved to a different spot in the room, staring around wide eyed with fear before going back to sleep. He didnt report at 8 the next morning. When blades found him, he was crying, in a corner of the room, blanket over his head, simply bawling, showing his massive internal distress. The blood tests showed he had a latent form of tuberculous, treatable with an antibiotic over several months, but in the meantime, anyone without a TB vaccination should avoid him, fortunately, blades was vaccinized and in no danger.
The overseer woke them all up at dawn, unlocking their cells and gently shaking them once. "C'mon, time to wake up. The Master will want us in the fields early today, now that the storm is passed. Aspen, he sent for you to go back to the house." He told aspen and Gruwel when they woke up.

Gruwel grunted, and got to his feet. "Yes... I will go there..." He staggered out of his cell, and made his way to the door. He yawned. He hated this part of his work. Being half bat, right now, he felt as though he should be going to bed, not waking up.

The other four slaves were waiting as Gruwel and Kai, the overseer, came and joined them. The door unlocked, and the six set off for the truck center, where weed from the fields was sorted and sent by truck to the factory. Two armed guards awaited aspen.

Blades knelt down to Riley's level "Hey...everything's okay, you're one of my servants now." Blades patted Riley on the back, looking at his test results "However we do have a serious matter we need to address..."

(if you read on it is her taking note of extra padding from a past escape attempt...implying the need for that area to be padded (she kicked them in the balls..well maybe not these two, but at least one guard has fallen victim))

Riley continued to sob, stopping finally after awhile and looking at blades. "I'm sorry, Im late, but you need to know what all has happened to me..." He said, and launched into his narrative, a story of many sexual assaults committed against him, horrible things blades had never even thought of, and then hard labor, where he was beaten almost to death by the overseers every time he stopped working because he couldn't breathe. After his hour long story, he laid with his back against the wall, still tired and everything. "Sir, please make the nightmares go away... The dreams ain't worth them... I'm sorry for interrupting you, what was the serious matter we need to deal with.(I forgot to mention, TB is highly infectious, even the latent form.)
The guard behind her snorted. "Maybe he was tired of all your constant pouting and such, or was it the fact that youd injured him several times in your escape attempts." He said, as they sped up to s trot to reach the mansion on the tier above them.

He looked at the datapad "Regarding the serious business, your blood test came back positive for latent TB, however Doctor Adelstein told me it can be treated with long term antibiotics."

Silas Reese stops lifting weights as he sits on his bunk to look over to Shawn. His whiskers twitch and he sighs a little and says "Yeah man, it sucks.. but what are you going to do about it?" He puts down the dumbbells and pulls up a tablet to check his mail, "I try not to think about how screwed up this city is. It makes things better in my opinion."

Gruwel followed the guards up to the mansion. He turned around and looked at Aspen. He slowed down until they were walking next to each other. "I'm sorry for insulting you yesterday." He said, in his usual, depressed sounding voice. "I got a bit carried away." His mask made the usual, soft tone it always made as he breathed.

"Oh hey, it's no problem, i've been called worse" she continued walking "Actually I had forgotten about it mostly"

Gruwel turned, and faced the guard. "How much longer until we arrive?" He turned back, looking up at the massive mansion.

"Good. He's finally decided you may come back as a house servant, until he thinks you can be trusted again to not injure him." The guard said, as the large mansion came into sight. It was a modern affair, six stories talk with large glass panels making up the side of the building, with a tower topped with a glass dome opposite. The front of the mansion had very tall thin windows, with a columned front entrance. Inside it opened into a foyer with stairs on either side leading to a balcony at the second floor that ran around the room. Between them was a lift that ran all the way to the sixth floor, in front of the staircases were open doorways flanked by guards that led to the rest of the house. The guards led them to the second floor, down a hallway on the side made of glass, passing easily a dozen armed guards, before pushing Gruwel and aspen into the study. The master's chair was turned away so they couldn't see him.
Riley returned blades hug, comforted by his words, tears running down his cheeks. "Thank you, sir.... " he said, with his voice thick with emotion. He released blades, leaning back as he heard the results. His ears twitched, and he had a puzzled expression on his face. "TB? What's that mean?"
Shawn's lips curled back as he snarled. "What am I going to do about it? I'm going to find who stole him, and I'm going to send them to hell!" He said, then sighed, laying back on his bunk. "I want to see him... We were four when he was stolen... I want my brother, I don't feel right..."

Gruwel blinked, staring at the chair. He turned to Aspen, looking a bit unsure of himself. Then he spoke, sounding a bit anxious. "Sir?"

The master spoke, his voice melodic almost always, but now, harsh and no nonsense like. "Aspen, Shaddup, Gruwel, sit down. I've been thinking about both of you, and I've come to a conclusion. Aspen, get your sorry rear to the kitchen, NOW!" He said sharply, waiting her to leave, escorted by two guards, before speaking do Gruwel, "Would you like to stop working in the shed, that steel sweat box of a sorting house? How would you like to work here, in the house?"

"My dear boy, how old are you?" he asked, as the chair swung around, revealing a very lithe and strong-looking Lizard, with dark green scales and blue eyes. he had a very nice body, shown off by wearing blue body armor that clung to his skin.

Gruwel blinked at the lizard, seeming a bit surprised. He quickly regained his focus and responded. "I'm 22 years old sir, I'll be 23 in about 5 months." He looked around the study nervously. He was on edge, not knowing why his master was asking his age.

Silas turns off his tablet, nothing important showing up. "I know.. Rough. Hey If there was any chance I could find him for you, I would. I'd even let you have the honors of taking the first shot at the SOB that took him." Silas stretches and yawns, "So anyone remember where the next patrol will be?"

"TB is a disease of the lungs, usually caused from working in coal mines, around dangerous chemicals, or from damp climates mixed with poor living conditions. It's why you struggle to breate when you run too long or work too hard in the siimplest terms. I'll have to isolate you from the other servants for a while and you'll have to take medication for it." Blades answered. He looked at the clock, it was already 9:30 am. He gave him a pat on the shoulder "C'mon, how 'bout you get cleaned up and I'll get us some breakfast. Everyone else's already eaten."

The cook came over to aspen, "Get your paws clean and put a hairnet on now you worthless lump of fur!" she yelled, the otter turning around to stir a pot, before rushing off and berating a paid staffer for doing something wrong. The kitchen was very large, with grills and burners for pots in the back, along with a large dried goods storage room. freezers were along the far wall, and a walk in refrigerator. in the middle were three large islands for preparing food, while the wall on the side left of the door(Which is on the back wall), had shelves of cooking utensils. the wall to the right of teh door was a washing line for dishes, with sinks for their hands.
Riley nodded. "Ok..." he said, getting up, feeling numb, now that he'd let it all out, all of what he'd been feeling. He sighed softly, and leaned against blades, still clutching the blanket like a child. considering what he'd been through, hed need some help... mental and physical.
Shawn sighed and laid down, chucking a light foam ball at silas. "Go to bed!" he said, as the lights turned off.

The master's tongue flicked out and he stood up, walking around gruwel, looking over him like a horse. "Take off your shirt." he ordered, while stepping in front of him. "Does the mask come off?" he asked.

Blades walked Riley to the very dining room where they talked the night before. He sat him down and went to the kitchen, he saw Riley needed more than a kind master...he needed a friend more than anything. Blades knew that he might have to be that friend...He came out of the kitchen and set down a plate before Riley with Pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream, bacon, and cinnamon toast with peach jam. "I don't what your old owner fed you but I'd say this is probably an upgrade."

The master frowned slighty, but reached forward and felt the mask's texture, running his hand over it. "I'm deciding if I should promote you or not... Aside from this mask, I have yet to see a reason why not. Yes, you will do just fine. How would you like to be my personal attendant?" He asked, making it sound like an order.
(Space age, but the kitchen uses tech from today. He believes the old ways are best.)
The cook turned around and snatched the knife from her, as well as ripping the piece of leather from under her collar. "YOU LITTLE WITCH!!! DON'T YOU DARE PULL THAT STUNT AGAIN IN MY KITCHEN OR YOU WILL DIE!!" She shouted, pressing a remote on her waist, sending waves of absolute agony racing throughout aspen's body.
Riley nodded, and began to eat, after mumbling a "Thank you, sir." To blades. He sighed unhappily, stopping partway through and looked at blades. "When can I get new clothes?" He asked him, before looking down at his plate. "I'm sorry master, please forgive me..." He said, as habits literally beat into him by his previous masters resurged.

This would be much better than having to work at the sorting house. He nodded "I would enjoy that, sir." He could only hope that Aspen got promoted as well.

The master smiled. "You can call me Kael. Now, take the lift to the fifth floor and have one of the guards escort you to Sandra. Inform her you'll be taking over from aspen, and she'll take care of you. Go, be back in a half hour." He said, patting gruwel's shoulder and turning around to take a seat at his desk, expect Gruwel to be gone by the time he sat down.
Riley nodded. "Yes sir, thank you sir." He replied, finishing his meal and standing, going to scrap his own plate before setting it down and crying again, wrapping the blanket around himself as he did so. He needed to feel like someone loved him and cared for him, he was a very touchy feely kinda guy actually.

"Yes, sir." Gruwel grabbed his shirt and quickly rushed out the door. He was quite excited, and in his case, that meant a lot. He got inside the lift and waited inside until he got to the fifth floor. At that point, he found the nearest guard, and said "I'm looking for Sandra."

He came up and hugged him again "Look...I know it ain't easy what you been through but I ain't gonna let anybody hurt you, and if they even try...they'll have me to answer to." he tilted his head towards him "But you gotta try and let it go...carrying all that on your mind isn't good for you." he could tell he wasn't in any state to work "Maybe you need one more day off before you start working here."

Riley hugged blades back, crying into his shoulder for awhile before stopping and calming. "Thank you sir... I'm sorry I'm so useless... " he apologized, letting go and picking up his plate to scrap it himself and heading to the kitchen to do so.
The guard nodded and led him down several hallways with guards at every corner, leading him to a room with a very striking looking fox lady inside. "Here she is." The guard grunted, leaving him in the room. Sandra sat a computer terminal, in the middle of the room. The back wall was one mirror, and the side walls each had four alcoves. She looked what crossly at him. "What do you want?"

Gruwel's hands were trembling a bit, but he kept his cool. Well, he didn't really have a choice but to keep his cool. He only ever let out very subtle signs of emotion. He said in his calm, steady voice. "Master Kael wanted me to inform you that I'd be taking over for Aspen." He looked around the room, observing everything in it.

Riley nodded. "Yes... Would you be it?" he asked, turning to look at blades with a look of desperate hope in his eyes, the shadows of the past providing the background for that flame of hope. he felt taht blades had been the only one who had been kind to him his whole lie, since he'd been taken, and he trusted blades utterly, a hundred percent.
The cook snarled, and smacked aspen hard. "Shut up and peel carrots!" she snorted, pointing to a massive tub full of carrots. it easily had a hundred pounds in it. "You have an hour and a half." the cook said, tossing aspen a handhelds laser peeler before stalking off to go attend to another part of the meal.
Sandra stood and looked him over, frowning. "My lord the lizard's tastes certainly varies..." she muttered. "Stand still." She told gruwel, as a device dropped down from the ceiling and measured everything there was to measure about him for clothing. afterwards several of the alcoves lit up as machines worked to fabricate designs sandra drew up on the computer based off of gruwel's measurements and his looks.

Gruwel stared at the machines for a while. He then turned back to Sandra. "Do you happen to know why Aspen is being replaced?" He reached up and scratched his neck nervously.

Blades smiled and nodded "Yeah...I'll be that friend Riley." he motioned him up the stairs "C'mon, you should come and clean up a bit. I'll loan you one of my outfits for now. I'll see about ordering some clothes for you today."

Riley followed, blanket trailing behind him, still holding onto it, acting like a child in that regard, but shunting his pain away from the forfront of his mind for the time being. He began to purr softly when blades said he'd be his friend. 'Thank you...."
Sandra shrugged. "The master's tastes have changed. Or maybe she's hurt him too many times to be trusted in intimate settings again." She replied.
The cook forwned when aspen finished, Then pointed to the massive sink full of large dishes. "Scrub them all. By hand with a rag and soapy water." She said.

They finally got to the third floor and showed him to a bathroom "Here, go ahead and take a shower. Get yourself cleaned up, i'll go get you some clothes in the meantime."

Riley nodded, and set his blanket down by the door, pausing before he went in. "If you have any black clothes and boots, I'd like those... I vaguely remember my brother and I dressing in black clothes when we were young..." he requested, seeming much happier now that blades agreed to be his friend.
"I, am his fashion designer. if its worn in this district, I made it. the nice stuff anyways..." Sandra replied, then shook her head. "No, usually he'll dance around, phrase things lightly, then get to it. thats if he want to play with you, if not, he's fairly straightforward." she said, checking the completion time. "Five minutes before your uniform is ready."
the dishes took her until lunch was finished. the cook came and inspected the dishes, frowning. "Good enough. You have twenty minutes. Eat, then get started on lunch dishes." The slaves all took a break to each lunch, and there were several hundred bowls waiting for her hands to clean.

Gruwel nodded. "Ah, should've guessed." He paused, "How's you get into this job? I doubt that you started out as a slave, you seem to have a lot of knowledge in this line of work."

"Alright, I think I can manage that." Blades answered as he walked to his room. He looked through his shoes and then his clothes, finding a good outfit for Riley. He returned and knocked on the bathroom door "Here, I didn't have black boots but I did have black basketball shoes." He left the clothing on the sink counter. A black t-shirt with green cargos and the afore mentioned black basketball shoes "The shirt might be a little tight but it should fit."

Sandra shrugged. "It was a job. I took it." She said simply, as gruwel's uniform was finished. it popped out onto a table in the alcove nearest him. "Go put it on."
Riley had finished showering and was wrapped in a towel when blades returned. his rags were lying on the floor by the trash can, and he seemed even happier, humming softly. "Thank you sir." he said, getting dressed and coming out. "now what, sir?"
Eventually the cook grew tired of her and sent her with an escort to go tend teh roof garden with a few other slaves, pulling weeds and such. Also on the roof, on a deck overlooking the city, the master reclined in a chair and sunbathed, his shirt off, relaxing in the heat of the sun, with a dozen armed guards around him.

Silas' whisker stand straight out and he barks out, "Yes Sir!" with a smirk and flops down on his bunk, pulling the covers over him and closing his eyes. He has practiced going to sleep quickly over the years; just like a good soldier, he takes every moment of rest he can, and in about 2 deep breaths he falls off to sleep.

In the morning, at the break of dawn, Silus gathered the detachment of SpecOps MPs, and the best MP unit in the city, which was Shawn's squad, in the command center for a quick briefing before the operation began. He stood at the head of the table, in front of a screen displaying the insignia of the planetary protectorate, the planetary government, in his full armor, complete with helmet. "Ladies and gentlemen, how many of you have ever done a black ops operation or know what that is?" He asked, waiting for a reply.
Riley nodded. "Yes sir, what all is there to do?" He asked politely, his expression still happy, though it was fragile. Nothing that might discourage him would probably be a good idea of an activity, so long as he remained highly fragile emotionally. It would be some time before he would heal to the point where he didnt cry whenever he felt upset, or could act normal. It was certain he was scared for life, regardless of anything short of a mind-wipe.
The uniform consisted of a glossy black leather shirt that fit perfectly to his chest and back, hiding his artificial veins and still showed off his well toned body. Next came a light grey, silvery/white jacket, with a hood and lined with the softest cloth imaginable. It was a zip up hoodie, but was meant to be left unzipped. Next came some white jeans also lined with soft warm cloth, with an inch-wide black leather belt that had two rows of grommets down its length for the two prongs of the belt buckle to latch into, and finally, a pair of black leather lace up boots that went to his mid-calf.(if the shirt doesn't tell you what kind of attending the master needs, I swear I will find you, and I will slap you forty years into the future.)
After long hours spent in the hot kitchen, now as the noonday sun beat down on her while she pulled weeds, aspen began to sweat, and get hot, while the master sat there reclined in the sun, a fan blowing air on him and a cool drink in his hand, no doubt chilled from the freezer.

Gruwel looked at the uniform for a moment. He had a really bad feeling about what Kael meant by "attendant", but he played along. This was probably going to be way better than the job at the sorting house. As he walked off into a bathroom, and changed, he thought about what Aspen would think. He gulped, not wanting her to be mad at him. As he was walking back towards Sandra, he zipped up the hoodie. He didn't enjoy exposing himself in this way. He went back into her office, and asked. "Where do I go from here?"

She looked up at him for a moment before standing up and walking around him completely, inspecting her handiwork. Sandra stopped in front of him and looked him dead in the eyes. "Unzip the hoodie. If you're too be Kael's attendant, you need to learn to get used to that feeling, understood?" She ordered him, waiting for his response and actions, her hand hovering near the remote at her waist.

Gruwel stood there for a long moment. A very serious look was on his face, but he eventually did as she said. He stared down at her hand, waiting for her to move it back.

Blades thought about all the things there were to do all around the mansion. Sometimes, he even lost track. Noting that Riley was kind of child-like when he feels good, he thought about what would be relaxing for him or something they could do together as friends "Well...I have a really big art studio with tons of paints and pencils. Even sheets of paper big as the wall. There's also my personal collection of video games, must have over a thousand games to choose from. Also, I could teach you how to play basketball or play some music for you...that always helps me unwind. And my personal movie theater, can't forget that!"
Faye was there in her full suit of armor and visor, the wing-shaped lights on her back glowing slightly noting who she was. Her ears went up at the mention of black ops "Wait, you're talking full-on black ops? That's some high caliber stuff we're talking here...also highly classified if I remember."

"Good, now run along. He's at the roof garden, sunbathing." Sandra said, moving her hand away from the remote, turning around as he left. Just after he left the room, she called out, "Oh, Gruwel!" Waiting for his acknowledgement before continuing on. "If you ever have any sort of trouble with your duties as Kael's attendant, come to me. I'm the only person here who will actually give a crap and listen to you and or help you."
Riley's whiskers twitched slightly as blades mentioned the art studio. He nodded happily, and smiled slightly. "Yeah, is like to draw with you sir. It sounds like you have an amazing collection, master." He said, looking forward to it. Obviously art had some connection to happiness or calmness in his past, for him to react slightly excited to it.
Silus nodded. "Indeed. What I'm talking about is going full on rogue, the only government contact being a dead message drop report and a large sum of credits to support our operation. No rules, no holds barred, nothing too dirty or forbidden beside cold blooded murder of innocents. Everybody understand that?" He elaborated, checking for questions or signs of acknowledgement.

Gruwel stared at her for a moment, then nodded, walking off. He entered the lift again, and took it up to the roof. He stepped out of the lift when he arrived, and walked along the roof, towards Kael. He looked at the slaves tending to the garden, and saw Aspen among them. He kept walking, praying that she wouldn't notice him. He knelt next to Kael. "I'm back, sir."

Blades smiled "Alright, sounds good. Come with me and we'll get to drawing and such, I think you'll like my art studio." After a walk to the second floor, he opened a door to a room with a large window allowing the sun to shine in bright. There were five easels throughout the room with the back wall being covered by a really big sheet of paper. There was also tray upon tray of colored pencils, crayons, pastels, and paints and two pottery wheels with clay in the corner. "Well here it is, I think it's rather impressive. Should be more than enough colors and supplies to inspire you."
"Wow, this loose on the rules...I've never had that much freedom on an op before." Faye turned on her visor "Lead away to our first task, Captain." standing up straight as she finished.

aspen noticed him and shot him a look so venomous it actually gave him a short headache, she walked up to her master, staying seven feet away so that the guards wouldn't be too concerned at her proximity "So am I to be punished?"

Kael ignored her for a moment and called three slaves over. "Go get a chair, an umbrella, and a drink of my friend's choosing." He told them, two rushing off to get the furniture while the third approached Gruwel for his order of drink. Meanwhile, Kael glared balefully at aspen. "Punish you? Your looks are the only reason you aren't off the edge of the roof yet." He snarled at her, and four guards closed in on her to get her away from him.
Riley set his blanket down by the door and looked around the room for a few moments, wide eyed at how great it was. He nodded. "Yes sir... When are we ordering my new clothes?" He asked, an idea coming to him as he went over and started getting a pencil and colored pastels for what he had in mind. The leopard was planning on killing two birds with one stone, drawing a himself wearing the clothes he wanted.
Silus chuckled, "eagerness is apriciated, but for now we need to know our game plan before we rush off. You MPs got any questions?" He asked, looking at the five members of Shawn's squad, knowing they were trained as standard troopers, not spec ops troopers.

Gruwel frowned, his eyes actually becoming watery as he watch Aspen leave. "No thank you." He said to the one asking for his choice of drink, not looking away from Aspen. He sat down in the chair next to Kael, looking a bit depressed.

Silas Reese looked grim at the briefing, he knew what black ops were, and was OK with the thought of it, perhaps even welcomed being unfettered in such a way to bring justice in a way he felt was necessary, but he was concerned about the risks involved. When Silus asked his unit specifically if they had questions he spoke up, "Sir, I have two questions. What is the scope of this operation? And as a black-op, will our gear be replaced or downgraded to keep it anonymous?

Kael purposefully ignored her, and turned to Gruwel. The lizard grew upset when he saw the look on his face, and stood up after pulling on his shirt. "Come Gruwel, lets go somewhere else. It's too hot out here." He said, and started towards the lift, pausing as he neared aspen. "Look, if you ever mellowed out, I could trust you again, but you've hurt me too many time trying to escape while doing it. If you want to be a harem girl that badly, show up in my office tomorrow morning." Kael told her, before continuing with Gruwel, holding his hand.
Silus nodded slightly. "The scope of the operation is to take down a few of the crime lords from the inside out, we're going to wipe all the markings off our armor that identify us as soldiers, and then pretend to be deserters turned mercenaries. However, after they catch on to our little ruse, things will get interesting..." He replied, surveying the room for any more questions.

her eyes seemed to brighten a bit more and she nodded "Yes sir" she could already feel the sun burn starting on her back she laid her ears back and grumbled about losing her job to Gruwel

"Well Riley, I was thinking i'd place the order this afternoon." Blades answered "One of the girls I'm sheltering wants to be a seamstress so Imight pass some of the work to her, she's actually gotten very good over her time here. Blades when over to grab some colored pencils. "Did you have an idea of what you'd like? I'll order you some everyday clothes, something formal, some pajamas, and some swimtrunks."
Faye spoke up "Got names on any specific crime lords we're targeting? I'd like an idea of who I'm up against."

Silas Reese nods and smirks a little, dangerous, but looks like his unit will have the element of surprise, as long as the crime lord takes the initial bait. He suspected their loyalties will be put to the test, and felt conflicted, but did not voice a concern, though his tail gave an agitated lash at the thought.

Riley nodded. "Yes sir, I'll draw them for you." He replied, and began sketching out and then coloring with pastels, pictures of him and blades with him wearing the clothes he wanted. For pajamas, riley drew blades lying in bed while he looked out a window at the stars from the longhouse, wearing a short and simple sleeveless white trimmed black silk kimono with soft and warm black pants that had a white stripe running down the outside of the pant legs. he was wearing faux fur lined slippers that went up to his mid-calf. "I like to walk around at night, when I'm permitted." Riley explained, moving on to draw the swimtrunks. For that he drew blades cannonballing into the pool, while he relaxed on a floating chair a few feet away from where blades would be landing, unaware of his immenient splash danger. The swimtrunks were black with a red stripe down the outside, and were as long as shorts. Next he drew him and blades standing back to back in everyday clothes with their arms crossed in a tough guy pose. Riley was wearing a glossy black leather shirt without sleeves that hugged his body, with a black long sleeve zip up hoodie trimmed in white unzipped, and knee high glossy black leather boots with metal plates running down the front that were attached to straps that buckled on the outside. For formal wear, he kept it the same as everyday clothes, except instead of a zip up hoodie, he was wearing a formal long jacket that went mid calf and had brass buttons and long sleeves. "Are these acceptable, master?"
"That is to be announced. We're going to acquire a safehouse for our base of operations, on located on the borders of three districts. That gives us three crime lords to choose from, so we'll go for whoever seems to be the most vulnerable. I will say this. You mess up and kill innocent lives, if its an honest mistake, I overlook it. If its nessecary collateral damage, I'll help you through your guilt." Silus's voice dropped to a low, deadly growl. "But if its honest, unnescersary, cold blooded murder, I will skin you alive and turn your pelt into a jacket. Understood?" He said, staring down each of them in the room and waiting for acknowledgement before he moved on.

Silas Reese snaps to attention and barks out "Sir, yes sir!", his whiskers giving a little twitch. In his mind, Civilians may be a little too needy most of the time, but he couldn't see killing one in cold blood.

Blades looked over the drawings "Yeah, I can have all this made for you. I'll have Kimi start on all this right away. She'll be excited to do some sewing again. They should all be done in a couple days, in the meantime you can keep that outfit. It works for you." Blades noted how he and Riley were so close in his drawings. Blades was a bit closed off as a kid, not having many friends save for Faye. "I'm really happy to have you as a friend Riley."smiling as he finished.
Faye nodded and smiled "Noted and affirmative sir! Let's stick it to these two-bit criminals!" snapping her hand into a salute and speaking with excitment.

Riley smiled brightly and hugged blades. "Thank you sir!" He said excitedly, purring as he embraced blades tightly, forgetting, for now at least, his horrible past forgotten for now. He'd never had a friend. The closest he'd ever come to one was a wolf named sam who'd protected him while he'd be recovering from being used by the master, stopping him from being used by other harem slaves. It was feeling good to have a friend, he decided, smiling as he nuzzled blades.
"Good." Silus said, his voice back to normal. "Start gathering and Unmarking your equipment, we're heading out at 1200 hours.

Silas Reese walks out to the equipment locker catching Shawn's attention, "Are you good with this, boss?" He opens his locker and pulls out his armor, "So what do we do anyway, pull out a file? paint scraper?" He straddles a bench as he rubs his paw over the insignia on his shoulder pad, thinking that the game is about to go into high gear; is he ready?

Faye pulled out a paintbrush and started glossing over the insignias on her armor, gear and weapons. She took great care to make sure the cover-up was completly smooth and blended with the base color of her stuff. "Just paint over them, it's easier as long as you do it right and make sure it dosen't look like a cover-up."
Blades just kept his smile and patted Riley on the back. "You know Riley...truth is I may have had and still have the money and the world but I never had many friends as a kid...save for this lion girl I was sweet on. I kinda know what it's like being alone...Lke I said, I'm glad I bent the rules this once."

"Yes sir." Gruwel said. His voice did not sad at all. His voice was almost always quite emotionless. Yet, his face still showed that he was upset about the way Aspen felt about him. As they were both in the lift, he said eventually. "I'm going to have to eat soon." He paused a moment. "I'll just go ahead and explain. The last person who saw what was under this mask… vomited all over her table."

Looks over at Faye and smiles, "Well thanks. I guess it makes sense to just do it the easy way.." he gets a bottle of black paint to go over the silvered insignia, "Thankfully the insignia's on a black background. it would be hell to redo a camo pattern on this."

Shawn nodded in reply to Silas's question, he was fine with this. However, he grimaced slightly as he pulled out his armor. It was a dark blue with cyan elements, but the problem was... The emblems were raised metal attached to the armor, not just painted on symbols. "Great.... Anyone got a beam pistol?... Or a laser file?" He asked aloud, grumbling slightly. Meanwhile, Silus was procuring the money from the very "helpful" base secretary. (Anyone want to be the secretary?)

They must've had a weak stomach... I look forward to seeing you with your mask off..." He replied, as they arrived at the fifth level, his personal level.
The overseers and guards called all the slaves tending the together. "Dinnertime, and then reassignment!" The leader called, as they set up three food stations to service the 60 some slaves.
Riley continued to purr happily, eventually breaking their embrace. "No, thank you, sir. What you've done means the world to me, literally. I'm proud be your slave and your friend." He replied, as his stomach growled slightly, prompting a smile from him. "I guess that means lunchtime..." He said, and it was indeed lunchtime.

Gruwel shifted uncomfortably as he followed Kael down the hall. He had a very bad feeling about taking his mask off in front of him. He was almost certain he'd lose his job. He nervously scratched behind his large bat ear as he entered the dining hall.

"I help these girls I shelter get back on their feet. I make them feel loved, like they can do something with their lives...and I won't treat you any differently." Blades patted him on the head like he was a kid. "And my door will always be open to any of them...they will always be open to you...friend." Riley's stomach growling filled the room "Yeah, I guess some lunch would be good. You got an idea of what you'd like?"
Faye reached for her laser-edged combat knife and handed it to Shawn "Here, use the other side of it . Should work." The knife also feature a laser saw on the opposite side of the blade.

After feeding them, the guards dismissed the slaves back to their quarters for the night, and as pet kael's orders, aspen was accompanied by two guards back to her quarters. Kai and the field hands were already there, relaxing.
Riley's spirits kinda sank as he heard blades promise to treat him no different than the others. He'd wanted that, something that did show he was different, something that showed he was an individual, not one of the faceless slaves. He tried not to let his disappointment show, though. He nodded, his tail lashing slightly in agitation, as blades asked if he knew what he wanted to eat. "I'm not sure, master, I was thinking you could choose." When he spoke, his tone was still very pleasent, but it lacked that very slight intonation that made it sound guininely happy, only detectable if one listened very closely.
Kael continued eating, after Gruwel put his mask on. "Interesting..." Was all he said, thoughtfully chewing on his squid on a stick. He spoke after a moment. "I can see why weaker men would quail before that sight. All that does is make you more diserable to me..." The lizard said, standing and walking around the table, to run his hands down gruwel's side. "I shall take you into my most inner trust tonight...." He said softly, one finger reaching up to stroke gruwel's muzzle.
Shawn nodded gratefully. "Thanks." He said, nodding and setting to work on sawing off the emblems on his armor.

Gruwel turned, facing Kael. He was actually starting to grow a bit comfortable around him. He nodded, listening to him. "Of course, Master."

Blades could tell he set Riley off a little by his tail. "Did...did I offend you Riley? I apologize if I did." he knew Riley wasn't the most stable person and maybe saying he'd treat him like everyone else wasn't the best move "What I meant by that was i'll view you as the person you are like my girls, not some number on your collar. I'm still more than willing to be your friend." Blades smiled trying to lighten it up a little.
Faye merely nodded "But of course, the saw on the back of that knife's gotten me out of a jam time and again."

Blades's continued comparasion of Riley to his girls wasn't helping any, as Riley's tail began to lash back and forth, a now obvious sign of his upset. "No, you didnt offend me." He said in that false pleasent tone, though now a hint of anger crept into it. Riley turned and headed towards the door, stopping briefly to pick up his blanket. "I'm going to go explore while you go spend some time with your girls, master." He said, leaving, his body language and lashing tail making it pretty clear that he didnt want to be called back or followed immediately.
Kael smiled. "Good. It's always nice when someone like you knows your place." He said, and paused. "No, I don't like it. Gruwel is no longer your name, its too harsh and sounds too much like gruel for someone like you to have it. Choose a new name, reforge yourself." The lizard ordered abruptly.

Gruwel seemed taken aback. "Sir with all due respect of course, that's my name." He paused. "I've had it for as long as I can remember. You could call me Gru or something if you need to."

Kael's voice dropped to soft, soft as in the soft slithering of a snake about to strike. "Are you challenging my authority? Are you daring to disobey my orders? Answer me now." He said, a remote appearing in his hand with the slightest twitch of movement.

Blades figured it'd be best for to let him cool off a bit. He'd come to his senses "Okay note to self...don't compare Riley to other fugitives." he just sat there in the art room for a while looking at the drawings riley made. "Remember Blades...he needs a friend, not just a kind master." He went out to the garden and found Kimi tending to the flower patches. "Hey Kimi...got some work for you..." she showed the red panda the drawing "I'd like you to make these clothes for a friend, he'll be staying here for a while." Kimi nodded "Sure, i'll get to it right away." "Please and thank you." Blades answered.

Riley sat near a window, overlooking the pool and longhouse, staring off across the city, but more importantly, into space, where the time and fabric of reality were tugged apart and he was sucked into a vortex of his dark and horrible past. He was alone.... Why was he always alone?.... Sam, Sam was there.... No, no, why did he let them?.... He was alone again, scared.... No one protected him, no one listen to his cries and sobs to stop.... No one ever treated him as if he were alive... But blades was there, he treated him differently.... But no, Riley, you're just another fugitive, just another damaged goods to be consoled now then while you do his laundry and cook... You're no one special, no one likes you, no one cares about you.... Give up and die already.... Give up and die..... Damaged goods.... No one cares about you.... No one... Throughout this mental battle with himself, he'd been shaking slightly, shuddering. Now he gave a strangled cry and curled up in a ball, wrapping himself in his blanket, squeezing himself into the corner and covering himself with the blanket as if to shield and hide himself from the demons of his own mind... You can't escape what you can't see... You can't escape yourself... Riley lay there and started sobbing, exhausted to the point where after he cried himself to sleep, it was a dead, dreamless rest.

Blades sat out in a common area near where Riley was sleeping. He realized by his body language earlier, he had maybe not treated him the best. "Just let him talk when he's ready..." he had a guitar out and was playing some soft music that lightly chimed through the whole floor.

The soft, gentle music, roused Riley from his sleep nearby. He wasn't in a mood to talk, but after that resounding mental defeat at the hands of his own self doubt, he wanted to feel comforted. The snow leopard stood and took his blanket with him, walking towards blades and the source of the music somewhat trance like. When he reached blades, he didnt say a word, but rather flopped on the couch and cuddled against his side, closing his eyes and covering himself with the blanket like a child seeking a parent's comfort.

Aspen didn't care, she slept like a rock that night, though nightmares haunted her sleep, in them Gruwel and her master were sitting atop a pillar, watching her, she would run and the pillar would get taller, but the ground would no move beneath her feet, though she ran she could go nowhere, she looked down at the dishwater and screamed in horror as she saw Gruwel's face reflected back instead of hers, she woke up still screaming

Silas looked at his handy work painting over the insignia on his armor, then grins as an idea strikes him, "Hey, anyone have some white paint?" He got it in his head that if he is a "merc" now, why not get a little creative with his armor.

"No!" Gruwel said quickly, obviously frightened that his job would be short lived. "I was just saying that a name change… It's going to take a while to get used to, for me at least. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally ready to do it, but there's no way to avoid the time it takes to get used to it." He spoke in his normal, cool tone, but in his eyes, it was obvious that he felt a bit hurt. "Could I have some time to think about a name, sir?"

Kael paused for a moment, considering his slave's request. "You have fifteen minutes, but know this. The next time you speak to me in this manner, you will know pain as you never before, writhing on the ground before me like the worm you are." The lizard leaned forward, his eyes gleaming with a deadly light. "Never forget, I am your MASTER." He hissed, before turning around and leaving Gruwel to think of his new name. Gruwel had gotten lucky, Kael normal would shocked a slave into submission, but obviously he was trying to treat Gruwel differently, to be nice to him.
Kai, the field slave overseer, a wolf with cream colored fur and emerald eyes, immediately came over to aspen, unlocking the cell door and approaching her. "What's wrong? How can I help?" He asked sincerely, because he honestly cared about his charges.
Shawn nodded his thanks and cut all of the insignias off of his armor, painting them over. In response to Silas's question, he pointed at a storage cabinet. "Over there, any color you can think of, almost."

Blades merely stroked Riley's head for a second before he got back to his song "My mom used to sing this song to me all the time when I was little. No, it won't be long before another day...and we gonna have a good time...and no one's gonna take that time away, you can stay as long as you like. So close your eyes, you can close your eyes it's alright. I don't know no love, and I can't sing the blues anymore. But I can sing this song...and you can sing this song, when I'm gone..." after he finished, Blades laid back a little Riley still resting on his side.
Faye began to think as well, maybe she could replicate the wings on the back of her armor as her 'merc' symbol. she turned to Silas "Suddenly get a spark of inspiration?"

Riley had started purring, somewhat brokenly, but purring nonetheless, as blades had sang. He kept purring after blades finished, his eyes closing. "I'm sorry master... I shouldn't have done what I did..." He said softly, resting against blades. He felt ashamed now, but safe, though embaressed. This was fine by him.
Shawn stood up and went over to the cabinet. "I'm thinking of something as well..." He said.

she sobbed and hugged him "I-I just had a nightmare" she went on to describe it to him still sobbing into his shoulder "and then I looked down into the dishwater and his face was reflected instead of mine, and I woke up screaming"

Blades patted him on the shoulder "It's okay, everyone me included screws up time and again. You never really stop learning, you don't know everything about me and there's a lot I've still to learn about you." he sighed a bit "I nearly forgot, I gave those clothing designs to Kimi, she said they'll be ready over the course of the next two days."
Faye smiled "Great minds think alike I suppose?"

Gruwel sat there and thought. He decided on "James" surprisingly fast. It was his father's name. He stood up. Gruwel didn't like the way Kael acted. He hated the way he treated Aspen. He wondered if she was still mad at him, and with that thought, walked over to the window, staring out at the slave house. Maybe… No… he'd never be able to escape. Kael would kill him if he failed.

Silas grabs the white paint and starts working on painting on his shoulder-pad, and then over his name on the chest-plate. After several minutes of careful work he finishes a rat skull on his shoulder and the word "Reaper" over his name plate. "Yeah.. I think this will work."

Kai returned her embrace, shushing her quietly, nuzzling her. He patted aspen on the back. "There there, it was only a nightmare..." He said softly, trying to comfort her. "And...." He hesitated, thinking. "It makes you want to get away from here all the more, doesn't it?" He said, testing to see if she wanted to escape. He was planning something.
Kael came by in fifteen minutes, and sighed unhappily. "I'm sorry... Is there anything you don't like? I'll change it for you, I promise..." He said, asking for forgiveness in a way that gave Gruwel immense power for a slave.
"I'd agree, but my mind is involved..." Shawn replied, chuckling as he began to comepletely redo his armor color scheme, switching to red and grey, while painting on a red sword as his emblems and the name, "Red Knight", on his armor.
Riley purred softly, sighing and falling asleep. He woke up in a half hour.

Gruwel stared at Kael for a long moment. Eventually, he sighed, and leaned up against the wall. "I think I finally get just what you mean by personal 'attendant'." Instead of being discrete, he just went straightforward. "You want sleep with you. Or something along those lines." He frowned at Kael. "I'm not that kind of guy." After another prolonged stare, Gruwel finally sighed, and asked "What did to see in me? Sir, my name, Gruwel, is Dutch for 'abomination'. We both know that you have some more reasons for wanting me than the normal reasons."

"yes and no...I always ran away because I knew master would get me back...that he would want me back and that he'd love me anyway" she sobbed "but now he's replaced me just like them... he...we...we slept together, made love...that means he loved me right? then why am I being replaced again?" she began to cry again "I don't feel like running...i don't feel like staying....i don't feel like working, or sleeping. I guess I really don' feel like living either" she sighed and took the ziplock bag away from where she hid it under her matress "here...I stole it from the kitchen, it's flour...I wanted to hurt him...flour dust is explosive, his name was Gruwel, But then master said "if you'd mellow out i'd keep you" I realized that it's my fault i'm out here...just like it's my fault i'm a slave, if I had let daddy touch me like he wanted i'd still be home"

"Well, if we're going incognito may as well be convincing." She painted a yellow angel wing on her rifle and left shoulder. In fine cursive, she wrote 'Valkyrie' "Thought I might carry through with the theme of the wings on the back of my armor."
Riley awoke to Blades smiling "You...you felling a bit better there kiddo?"

Riley nodded, and yawned. "Can we eat now, sir?" He asked, smiling slightly as his stomach growled. The leopard was feeling much better now. A nap works wonders, on emotions and physical state. For Riley, it gave him a chance to forget his turmoil temporarily.
(Sure, just be very, very, very picky on forms and procedures in addition to being flat out rude and insulting(feel free to invent stuff.))
Silus walked into the supply and procurement office of hq. the skunk secretary was sitting at her desk, working through paperwork and. He was wearing full armor, minus his helmet. Silus walked up to her and tapped the desk. "Excuse me mam, I need 9.5 million credits for a black ops mission."
Kai sighed and shrugged. "Killing either of them isn't the way... I'm sure he'll come around." He replied, releasing aspen. "I'm always here to talk to." He said.
Kael turned away, hand clasped behind his back as he stared out the window. "I want you because I feel this strange attraction to you.... I like the way you talk, the way you walk, everything about you.... That was the very first time I've ever felt honestly guilty for commanding someone against their will.... You're special to me, Gruwel, I don't why, but I think I love you..." He said after a long pause.

Gruwel stared blankly at Kael for the longest time. "Kael. I really don't want to break your heart. But, you don't want to be around me. You don't want to wake up with a man, who lies in bed, wondering if he's going to kill someone today or not. And I am truly, truly sorry for you, but I can't stay here." He began approaching Kael. "Not as a slave, not as your lover, and nothing in between. Knowing you, you'll probably buy an army just to send after me. So..." He sighed, depressed looking down at the ground. "... I'm gonna need a head start." And with that, his fist careened into the side of Kael's head.

The secretary had a sucker in her mouth turned in her seat and adjusted her glasses "Excuse me sir...but do I look like a bank teller?" she responded rather dryly "Let's be quick about this, got a rousing game of solitare to get back to...Please explain your request in full detail." sounding rather robotic and stiff.
Blades' stomach started to growl a little "Yeah, I'm actually pretty hungry myself. You have anything in mind you're hungry for?"

The lizard didnt see it coming, a look of utter shock appeaing on his face as gruwel's fist connected with his head, sending him falling forward... Through the window. He screamed one word as he fell, landing decorative gnome statue, impaled through his stomach by its pointed hat. "WHYYYYYY??"
Kai's ears perked as he heard a scream. "Did you..."
(This was the only way Gruwel could escape alive, by using the utter shock of the guards to his advantage.)

Riley looked down at the salad. "What's this, master?" He asked, sniffing it. He'd never had Caesar salad before. It was something new to him. But if blades chose it, he would eat it, so long as it wasn't something that would obviously harm him.

Silas Reese stops in middle of securing an armor piece, his ears turn red a bit, "I guess I am getting ahead of myself aren't I.." He slips off his armor again and stows it in the locker for now, "So what's first, breakfast or heavy lifting? I can get stuff going on that."

Shawn sighed and continued painting, he still had most of the chestplate and all the leg armor to paint. "I'd say breakfast, but I'll be here for awhile.... Unless..." Shawn got up and went over to the cabinet. He stood on the bottom shelf to reach up to the top and grab a precision paintgun. "Never mind, I'll be along in five minutes." He said, smiling as he adjusted the spray and paint color, before doing huge swaths of the chest piece, then adjusting it to a precise spray and doing the red elements with such precision that they looked painted.

His expression softens, "But I'm up for it. The rewards make the risk worth it. Bringing down the crime bosses will make this city great again."

Faye seemed to look off in the distance for a little while "Yeah...I guess I'm not entirely sure how to approach this though. After all, we snipers are used to staying out of sight."
Blades smiled as he finished the bite in his mouth. "I don't expect everything I make to be your favorite but I'm happy you at least like it."

Kael sighed and turned around to face Gruwel. "No.... You don't have to apologize. I'm not sending you back, I want you to stay with me... In fact, if you stay with me, I'll remove your collar." He said, and pressed his body against Gruwel's, hugging him. "Please... I love you..."
Kai smiled and chuckled, "I was as well.... I was also fantasizing about you until I realized who you were..." He admitted, smiling softly.
Shawn shrugged. " even mercs have snipers... We'll make it work somehow." He promised, as he put the finishing touches on his armor.
Riley shrugged, and sighed. "I will like it, you've done alot for me, I'm not going to forget it." He replied, as he continued eating the salad. He was loyal to blades. Blades was his friend. His only friend. His best friend.
Silus rolled his eyes. "Really? Why? You're impeding justice, and I can have you court martialed for it."

The secretary muttered "Oh, keep your pants on Captain Shortfuse...normally you'd have to fill all that out. But...how 'bout you give me a list of all soldiers involved and i'll just push this button right here. Would that please you, your majesty?"

Gruwel didn't seem to react to Kael hugging him for the initial impact. He eventually looked down at him. He sighed, and stroked the top of the lizard's head. "Ok..." He said, a bit of sympathy in his eyes. "I'll stay..."

Silas Reese looked at Faye and blinked, "I don't suppose I ever said my name to anyone. I kind of figured the officers had all the details." He snaps a salute, "Private First-Class Silas Reese, Ma'am! Pleasure to meet you."

Shawn rose and stood at attention, in his grey bodysuit worn under his armor. "Lance corporal Shawn O'Hare, 42nd Marine Patroller Battalion, leader, specialist squad A-7, the best in this rathole of a city," he looked over at Silas and dipped his head, "no offense intended, my friend."
Riley purred and nuzzled him. "I think we will..." He replied, finishing his salad, and then looking over at blades. "Lets go see if she has my swimtrunks done, I wanna go swimming with you." He said, smiling as he remembered his picture he drew of him and blades swimming.
Kael nuzzled him. "Thank you my love... I'll do anything you want, so long as you stay with me... What do you want to do now? If you can name it, somewhere in this mansion, we can do it." He said, tail swishing happily back and forth as he looked up at Gruwel, a happy expression on his face, rumbling happily.
Kai frowned. "You know what, if the law's screwed up enough to allow slavery, screw the law! Do you want to be my mate?" He asked her suddenly, boldly proposing to her, stepping back and releasing her so that she could feel free to deny or accept him as she chose.

Gruwel looked down, and began zipping up his jacket. When he was done, he looked up at the lizard, a very serious look on his face. "I need to apologize to Aspen. I took her job, and she doesn't like it." He looked out the window again, at the slave house. "After that, we can do whatever you feel like doing."

Kael shook his head. "No need, I'm giving her the exact same posistion she held before, with a few minor changes. It'll all be done tomorrow." He replied, sighing as Gruwel zipped up his jacket. "Why did you do that? You look wonderful, my love, show it off, please...." He begged.

Blades smiled as Riley nuzzled him. He noted how he reacted to their friendship. "Alright, let's go then!" Blades led him to a room where the red panda Kimi was sitting at a sewing machine, piles of fabric and spools of thread on a bench behind her. She seemed like a fairly cute girl, raven-black hair back in a ponytail, wearing a fitted green jacket and faded jeans. "Riley, this is Kimi. She's one of the girls I shelter. Says she wants to be a fashion designer after she's free." he smiled a bit "She lit up like Christmas morning when I gave her your clothing designs."
Faye saluted "An honor Lance Corporal O'Hare. Not to brag but, i'm actually kinda well known myself as Guardian Angel."

Gruwel sighed, and unzipped it. He then stared down at Kael, a sad look in his eyes. "You know that there's a reason I'm here, correct?" He sat down in one of the dining chairs, not waiting for a reply. "I was sent to a slave auction after being recovered from an illegal genetic research laboratory." He irritably placed his hands on wither side of his head, massaging his temples. "I wasn't purchased for 10 years... If I could function as a normal furson in a society, I wouldn't have been placed in the slave auction." He blinked up at his master. "Long story short, I'm dangerous. I'm not asking you to abandon me on a roadside or anything like that, but I'm warning you." He got up again, and calmly said "So, what did you want to do now?" as if completely forgotten what he'd just said.

Riley smiled and nodded at her, waving and extending his paw for her to shake. "Hiya Kimi, my name's Riley, I'm a recent...." His voice trailed off and his eyes unfocused, as he stared into space. This time, he shook his head and mumbled, "Id rather not talk about it...." Before looking back up at Kimi, trying to smile again.
Kael sighed. "I don't care, not even if you kill me. I'd become a slave if I could be with you, Gruwel. You mean alot to me, you mean everything to me. I don't care if you're different or not." He said, reaching up to stroke gruwel's neck before turning around and standing. "We were going to do whatever you wanted to, my love."

Kimi shook his hand lightly "Hello, and don't sweat it too much...i get it, it's some heavy stuff." she reached behind her and grabbed the swimtrunks as Riley drew them. They were pretty well made like she'd done this times before. "I appreciate you giving me that work. Someday when I'm a fashion designer...maybe i'll call you to model for me."

Gruwel stared blankly down at Kael. He spoke in his normal, emotionless voice, placing his hand gently on Kael's shoulder. "I don't really have anything I want to do."

Silas smirks at Shawn, "Hey I don't take offense. I know the spirit of the saying, and you know it's true. This city is hardly worth a damn. Thankfully we have a chance to do something about it." He steps to the doorway, "I'm now a bit hungry, if anyone else wants to grab a bite I'll wait a tick, otherwise I'm off."

Kael nodded, and put his arm around Gruwel. "Then come, my love, let me show you this house..."(and there is where I call it a night for this segment, to advance beyond meaningless dialogue.)
Kai looked down, ashamed of himself, and left for the night, locking the cell door and his own.
Riley looked the swimtrunks over and smiled. "These are amazing, I've never seen finer work done so quickly, and, " he said, turning to look at her as she offered him the position of model when she was older, nodding in gratitude. "I'd be honored to model for you, if you allowed me to, sir." He finished, looking at blades for permission.
Shawn nodded in agreement and began to put on his armor, shrugging. "Might as well put it on now... Mercs sleep in their tin cans, high time I learned to eat in mine." He said, nodding at Silas. "I'll come with you after I put my armor on."

The next morning, Gruwel awoke to find Kael snuggled against his side, a happy expression on his face, rumbling happily in his sleep. When they had gone to bed, Kael had been clear on the other side of the bed, now he was pressed up against gruwel's side, sleeping peacefully and happily. No doubt he'd love it if Gruwel woke him up gently.
Kai paused and listened to her speak, before smiling warmly and taking her hand. "Of course... I'll even escort you up to the house tomorrow if you wish, that way the guards won't bother you." He replied, smiling as he led her from the room to his own, which featured a nice, decent bed, adequate lighting, and facilities that were actually facilities, in an alcove with a curtain. There was a table a two chairs, as well as a nightstand with a few books by the bed. He shut the door and took off his ragged boots before he crawled in bed, squeezing himself against the wall to make room for her. (Wht, when you post, post her waking up the next morning too, please.)
Riley nodded his thanks, smiling, as he turned back to Kimi. "I can't thank you enough for making all these clothes for me, if you ever need a piece of art or anything else, I'd be more than willing to help you." He said, thanking her and making a promise.
Shawn finished putting on his armor and exhaled sharply, as the cerebral interface buried itself into his spine. It would leave no mark of any kind when it left, and would cause no damage, but it still hurt every time it attached. Once his mind and the armor were synced, he looked at Silas and nodded. "Ready."

Gruwel stared down at Kael. Then he sighed. If he was going to stay here, he might as well get used to this. And with that, he place his hand on the side Kael's head, scratching the back of his head and neck softly. He even decided to lean down, and press his forehead against the lizard's nose.

Faye waited for her visor to activate and link with her right eye's optic nerve. The link process caused a wicked headache but a small price to pay for her nearly unmatched accuracy. The visor finally came to life. "Let's get this show on the road."
Kimi smiled "I'll remember that, might need a logo designed for my clothing line one of these days Riley."

The next morning Aspen opened her eyes a bit groggily and rolled over, it took her a moment to remember last night and realize why she wasn't in her cell. She smiled and rolled over to kiss Kai "Wake up sleepy head..."

A pair of elites held the panther before Val securely. His arms were bound securely behind him with heavy steel cuffs locked electromagnetically, three inches wide and a third of a centimeter thick, with only two heavy links of chain between them. His feet were shackled in a similar fashion, with only fourteen inches of chain between them. The panther's eyes gleamed with defience as he glared past the steel muzzle he wore at Val. He was an intruder, a dangerous one, who succeeded in killing several guards and an elite before he was caught. The panther was only 16 years old.
Shawn nodded. "good, TTE PEOPLE! Time To Eat!!" he called out, the others in the room cheering as they fell into line and began a jog to the mess hall in HQ. he jogged alongside the line, as he was ranking officer.
Riley nodded and smiled, "no problem." he said, turning back to blades. "where can I change?" he asked.
Kai murred happily and kissed her back passionately. "I love you..." he said softly, and sighed as he cuddled closer to her.

Faye smirked "Alright, I can get with that." She followed Shawn to the mess hall. "O'Hare was it? What's your story? sorry if that's classified to us but I feel better knowing who's gonna watch my six."
Blades led him to a guest room on the third floor. It was a rather nice room with a queen sized bed, light green sheets, blankets, and pillows with a couple chairs with an end table and dresser. "Here, this room will work. I'll be right down the hall to get my swimtrunks. Come and knock when you're ready."

"okay sir." Riley replied, smiling and hugging blades for a moment before shooing him out of the room while he changed. Before he changed though, he laid back on the bed for a moment and just laid there, thinking how great it was going to be with blades as his friend. The leopard sighed happily and rose, undressing and putting on his swim trunks before heading down the hall and knocking on blades' door, as he said "Ready."
Shawn sighed. "it's a story... I'll tell you over breakfast." he replied, slowing as they arrived at the mess hall. "Platoon, Halt! Fall Out!!" he ordered, dismissing them to get some grub. The leopard headed to get his own food first, as the others started with drinks.
Fortunately for Silas, today was breakfast buffet day. Pancakes, waffles, omelets, bagels, toast, bacon, sausage, sausage patties, ham, cooked ham, all sorts of condiments, twelve different kinds of cereal, plenty of milk, coffee and coffee cake, in addition to three freestyle soda machines, with every brand name soda on the planet, a juice machine with ten flavors, and finally, a complete hot beverages station. They mustve received a supply drop last night.
Kai smiled and murred happily, reaching up to stroke her cheek gently. He gazed lovingly into her eyes, signing happily. "I'd like that, I love it and you, in fact." he said softly, nodding.

Blades sat on his bed for a minute, he hadn't felt this good since...since before Faye ran off to the military. It was nice to have a friend again. He then undressed and donned his swimtrunks just as Riley knocked. He tied the drawstring as he walked up to his door. All his tribals along the left side of his torso and left arm were now fully visible. "Nice to see you in good spirits." smiling and hugging Riley like he would his best friend.
Faye simply nodded as they finished their jog to the mess hall. She saw the spread before them. She got some orange juice as they went down the line "Well at least they're feeding us well before we're thrown into the maw of hell..." grabbing pancakes, sausage, some coffee cake and a hot cup of tea as well.

"Aren't you quite the little handful." Val sat down in his leather padded chair and spun around a few times. "Swivel chairs will never be not fun. Well what are you here for, obviously you seek something or you wouldn't so brazenly broken in here and killed my guards." Val was watching the security tapes on loop. "It was his birthday next week." He said as he pointed to the Elite on the tape.

However, he could respond because of the steel muzzle that kept his jaws shut tight.

Kael made a happy, crooning sound and butted his head against gruwel's hand, enjoying his love's touch. A smile grew on his face as he opened his eyes, rumbling happily as his own met gruwel's. He'd dreamed about Gruwel during the night, of one day having Gruwel admit he loved Kael, and that he could feel emotions other than calmness and rage. The lizard was overjoyed to wake up in his love's arm's, regardless.
Shawn smirked, and slapped Silas gently on the back. "You rat, can't you remember they did this the last time they got a supply drop four months ago?" He said, chuckling as he went through the line, piling his plate high and grabbing a table before going off to get drinks.
Silus arrived, carrying his helmet and in his armor, retouching it to be battleship grey and trimmed in black. He put his helmet down and went to get food as well.
Riley purred as blades hugged him, nuzzling blades and smiling happily. It felt good to have someone who appriciated him, took notice of him, and cared about him. He hugged blades back, they were going to be friends, he knew it. The leopard didnt break their embrace. "Thank you sir..."

Blades was happy to see Riley smiling after that little rough bit they had. He felt a little awkward with all his nuzzling and such but he didn't let it show. He walked down to the pool with Riley, arm around his shoulder like a friend. "Well Riley...what are we waiting for? The water's great!"
Faye sat down at the table where Shawn set his food. Looking around at the many soldiers sitting at the tables around her. "So many people here...yet so little progress..."

Gruwel rubbed his master's head gently. He looked up to face him slowly, then rested his chin on Kael's shoulder, letting out a small purr as their chests were pressed against each other. His eyes we're partially closed, looking vaguely sleepy.

Karl smiled and laid there against Gruwel. He was happy and content. However, he knew he had to get up to deal with the various issues of the day. The lizard gave an annoyed hiss at this and yawned, gently brushing gruwel's head off and getting up. "Ugh... Rise and shine my love, the day waits for no one." Kael said, getting dressed.
Kai was panting as well, but he nodded as she said it was time to get up. He gave a grumble of protest as he got up and put his clothes back on, nodding. "Yeah... Damnit, that was wonderful.... I hate mornings." He replied, going and waking the other slaves.

"Well what have you come for? Information, subterfuge, oooh or an assassination attempt?" Val scratched the side of his face and laughed. "Well out with it. Haven't got all day, people to kill and lives to ruin you know."

Silas sits down opening his helmet up so he can begin eating. And eat he does, with a single minded purpose, quickly devouring the contents of his plate. He finishes and sits back, putting his fist up to his mouth to cover a belch. He lets out a sigh, "Gonna miss this place.. Maybe."

"I've been so many places...home has been a relative term for me." Faye said as she ate. She wasn't eating as fast as the others seeing eating too fast made her kinda sick. "So...Reese was it? Why are you here fighting?"

Silas Reese wipes his mouth and gives a little cough, he looks at Faye thoughtfully a moment, "Well, I was young, and I thought the military was full of adventure, so I signed up. I actually started out on Tirius. I ended up doing MP duty a lot, so, eventually I was transferred here, as they kind of need all the help they can get. Yeah, nothing noble really. But now I think we can really make a difference. That will be worthwhile.."

Aspen put her clothes back on and cleaned up as best as she could before standing outside her cell waiting for Kai to walk her to the house

Gruwel nodded, and got up out of bed. As he got dressed, he asked "So, besides lounging about all day, what do you do? I can't imagine that you didn't have to lift a finger to get where you are now."

"Well, that's respectable Silas. I've seen my fair share of adventures during my service to the military. My story however...it's a lot." Faye took a bite of her pancakes and swallowed before she began. "I'm actually the daughter of a slaver. He was upset he didn't have a son and he just ignored me most of my life. However when it came time to take over the slave trade...I said no. He blew up on me, beat me around and tried to get a slave collar around my neck...and if Blades wasn't my friend, he might have succeeded. Blades was just sixteen at the time but boy did he do a number on my old man...I ran away with him and I eventually spoke to a military recruiter. I was offered complete protection from my father and I couldn't turn it down. After a tour in Altirun, I got reassigned here." she took a breath "I got selected for this because of my ties with the Tavare family."

Silas's eyes go wide a bit at Faye's admission, "Oh wow.. That's pretty heavy stuff. I suppose you would want to see your father brought to justice more than anyone."

"Yeah...you could say that." Faye said as she drank some of her juice. "Wouldn't be surprised if I have to confront him myself."

"Well remember, we are here to back you up. You don't need to stand alone." Silas flicks his tail to emphasize his statement.

Shawn nodded in agreement. "You may not be in my unit, but you are still my sister in arms, and I would do whatever I can to ensure no harm comes to you. We are all here to stand by you and for you." He said sincerely, pausing his eating to look Faye in the eye, showing her he meant every word he said.
Meanwhile, Silas sat at a table nearby, and unobtrusively observed the team's interactions, to gauge how well they'd preform in combat.
Riley smiled happily, purring. Blades' touch made him feel valued and wanted, like he wasa person, not a thing. He shrugged as they approached the pool, "I don't know, the water looks cold from here..." He said uncertainly, reaching out to dip a toe into the water to test it, pulling it back before it touched the water. "Are you sure it's not cold?" He asked hesitantly.
Kai sent the other slaves off before returning to aspen and taking her hand, starting the walk up to the house. "Would you stay with me or would you escape if you had the opportunity?" The white wolf asked her, in a soft tone of voice that let her know that how she responded would make them or break them.
Kael smiled and sighed, reaching out to take gruwel's hand when he was ready, smiling softly. "Tell me my love, are you ready to seize the day at my side? Of course ill correct you if your wrong, but I'd like your input on things of course." The slaver told him.
The panther smirked at valarius as the muzzle was removed. "I won't talk to you, dead one." He said in a low, haughty voice, seeming to imply he was valarius's better.

Before Val had a chance to respond Garrett stepped in delivering a few swift punches to the panther's gut. "Well you just broke that, by speaking that sentence to me." Val let out a chuckle It may have been a technicality, but he was right.

Faye nodded "I'm glad to have you two at my back. One's past is never easy to face, but at least i'll have you two at my side. Thanks Shawn, thanks Reese...not many have stood by me but I'm happy you guys will. I'll protect you two as you'd protect me...your Guardian Angel." she began eating again. Suddenly she remembered what Shawn told her during the run to the mess hall. "So...you still gonna say why you fight? Or...is that too personal? If it is sorry I asked."
Blades smiled "I'm sure Riley..." suddenly another one of Blades' girls, a Tiger came out with a camera "But before we do jump in Riley...I wanna remember this. Trish wants to be a photographer and I figured maybe capturing some happy times between friends might be good practice for her." He pulled Riley next to him like his buddy "Smile for the camera Riley! To best friends!"

The panther immediately doubled over, gasping in pain, on the floor before valarius. After he recovered, he spoke, "I was sent to kill you, or be killed... I'm 17, they've made me work for them or they'd kill my sister, she's only 5... Please sir, kill me or imprison me, but don't let them know I failed, don't let them find me..." He begged, on his knees pleading with valarius. He knew he deserved no mercy, in fact, he expected none. The assassin braced himself for valarius's rejection and the laser round that would end his life.(hint: a character without a name can become a character with one^)
Riley nodded, beaming. "To best friends!" He echoed, standing close to blades like his buddy, his eyes full of excitement and happiness at his newfound friendship with blades. Besides, if blades said the water was fine, it had to be.

Silas Reese leans back and coughs a little as Faye asks Shawn the question. It's not his place to answer for someone else, even if he knows. Instead he picks up a toothpick as works on picking something imaginary from his front teeth.

With that, the camera flashed and Trish nodded with a smile "Alright boys..." she looked down at the camera "You two look great, i'll see about developing these." she walked back into the house at that. Blades smiled "Alright, here we go Riley." Blades jumped in to the relaxingly warm water, floating on his back. "Trust me, the water's nice and relaxing."

"Perhaps a deal can be reached then, tell me who sent you, your name, and maybe I let you work for me" Val sat down in his chair spinning it about as he waited for an answer Garrett only glared at the panther, he didn't view leaving him alive as a wise choice.

The assassin looked around the room, making a soft whimpering noise as his gaze swept over garret, before looking back up at Val and answering. "My name is Eron, and I was sent by...." He paused for a moment, looking scared, because he knew if he wasn't protected by Val, he would be killed in a horrible way by those who sent him. "The Prime.... He sent me. He wants you dead." Eron finished, looking at Val fearfully, begging his mercy.
Riley smiled as blades convinced him, a gave a slight giggle as an idea came to him. He turned around and backed up, to the edge of the concrete deck around the pool, before running as fast as he could and jumping in, curling up into a perfect and shouting, "CANNONBALL!", gleefully, like a child, landing right next to blades, literally six inches away from him.
Shawn sighed and shook his head. "No, it's fine." He replied, taking a moment to collect himself before diving into this obviously emotional issue. "I fight because of my brother. When we were young, our parents had some friends who would come over and frequently discuss a sale.... Our parents kept on rejecting them, dad would usually physically force them out when they started to talk about the sale... The sale those friends wanted was selling us into slavery. One night, their friend came with three others. They didn't talk, when their car pulled up, dad told mom to hide us and hide herself. He went and got his old laser sword and pistol he inherited from grandfather... They fought, and while dad was busy with two of them, the other two found us and mom... She died trying to protect us, but the two started to carry us off. Dad became instantly frenzied. He cleaved his friend in half, ran through the one carrying me, and shot the one carrying Riley in the back. The last one and the shot one got away with my brother....." Shawn seemed extremely emotional as he remembered this, and tears began rolling down his cheeks as he started to cry softly.
Kael nodded and reached up, pulling gruwel's head down and kissing his breathing mask, before hugging him tightly and taking his hand. "Come my love, we must start out with dealing with my previous consort." He said business-like, leading gruwel down to his office.
Kai smiled and kissed her softly, murring as they arrived at the house. He escorted her through the guards to where Kael awaited them in his office, expecting her reply.

Faye sighed and contemplated his story "That's...a lot to deal with." Her faced turned to anger "Wouldn't be surprised if it was my father who took him...My dad was and still is a sicko on that level..." she brushed off her anger for a moment as she took another drink of juice. "It's time to right what's wrong..."
Blades instantly got drenched as Riley cannonballed. He simply smiled as laughed a bit "You know Riley? For a big cat, you seem to take to water pretty well."

"Them, oh sweet swear words why can't they leave me in peace?!" Val rubbed his temples and began laughing a bit. "They'de have better luck if the stuck an assassin in a birthday cake.. Wait didn't they try that once Garrett?" Garrett just nodded keeping his eyes trained on Eron. "You killed her, then fed her to my beloved didn't you. Best birthday ever." Garrett stole a glance at Val, he became easily annoyed at Val, but needed him for his own plans...for now. "Well Eron, if you go back you'll die, if I let Garrett take care of you, you'll be beaten within an inch of your life then die. Or you work for me and well you still very well may die. So 2 guaranteed deaths or the one where you might actually live for a bit?"

"Mr. Kael? You asked me to be here this morning if I wish to stay in your personal service?" She stood meekly in front of him "i'm here to meet your commands" she was behaving oddly, more docile than usual and her eyes were not darting around looking for an escape as per usual.

Silas hops up when Faye says 'time to right some wrongs', and coughs, "Yep, I better get stuff loaded up so we can get headed out, right boss?" he looks at Shawn.

Shawn nodded, composing himself and rising. "Yes, let's get ready." At this time, Silas, AKA, Shadow, rose from where he was sitting and called out over the din of the mess hall, "MARAUDERS, HEAD OUT!" Instantly, everyone involved in the operation stood and left the mess hall, to get ready for deployment and commencement of the operation.
Riley bobbed to the surface and smiled, nodding. "Thank you, but you said it was safe, so I took your word." He replied in a happy tone, before ducking his head underwater briefly and coming up with a mischievous grin, he lips closed still.
Eron looked up at Val. "I would like to work for you, if you'd be so merciful as to allow me." He replied, his voice lacking the utter gratitude he should be expressing. An indicator of what his plans were, even though Val had spared him this time and was offering to take him in and provide sanctuary from the prime.
Kael looked across the desk at her, eyeing Kai who stood behind her, head down at the floor, also acting meek and submissive. "Who is this you've brought with you?" Kael asked her, his eyes and tone of voice hard.

Val let out a laugh. "Well sadly you're not qualified for any positions that." He looked back at the footage "just opened up, so you get to be..hmmm.. what can you do.." Garrett began to become annoyed with Val. He spoke up his voice filled with gravel "We've been needing a slave, and if he disobeys I can always feed him to your pet."

Eron looked back up at Val, he hadn't anticipated this. The assassin looked back and forth from Garrett to Val, hoping Val would put him in a more important position with more freedom to go about the base.

"Don't we have housemaids, or that cleaning service that doesn't ask questions?" Val asked as he looked over at Garrett. Garrett shifted his head towards Val, but kept his eyes trained on Eron. "Maid had a mishap with Lilliana." With the mention of that name a roar echoed through the halls, and moments later a white lion came running to Val. Val's face lightened up at seeing his pet. "Lilly. did you eat the maid?" Lillian layed down and tried to cover her face with her paws when asked this question. "Well I hope she was tasty." Val let out a laugh, and Garrett surprisingly wore a smirk. "Well you are right Garrett, but what could we have him do Laundry?" Garrett opened his mouth to speak, but was quickly cutoff by Val. "He could be my personal errand boy, which would allow you Mister Garrett to keep an eye on him at all times." Lillian pushed her self up into a seated position, glaring at Eron before running back off.

Faye headed out of the mess hall with the others. "Alright, I guess this is it. Time to look death right in the face." She adjusted her visor "Alright, in marches Valkyrie."
Blades smirked a bit as Riley bobbed back up. "Well I'm happy to hear you trust me. It ain't something you demand...it's something you earn." he smiled again, swimming a bit closer to him. "Anyways...back to the fun and good times."

"Um, this is Kai sir, he's one of the overseer, he said he'd walk me here this morning, he comforted me last night when I had a nightmare...you fell out your window and were impaled on a decoration sir" a tear rolled down her face at this "master I'm sorry i've been a horrible servant"

Silas Reese marches out of the mess hall, securing his faceplate on his helmet as he calls out, "Here comes the Reaper." He busies himself with the preparations to get the operation started.

Eron was visibly frightened by Lillian, his eyes widening and scooting back an inch or so. when she glared at him, he looked away, behaving submissively towards her. Manipulation of ferals is always easy, he mused. however, he looked up as valaruis made his suggestion to garret, and smiled on the inside. good. A position where he would be in easy striking distance of that pompous idiot.
Shadow awaited the group outside, with three nondescript hover trucks, heavy haulers, and two hover humvees, a common vehicle, unadorned with any military symbols. "Ladies, MOUNT UP! City unit, your CO is riding with guardian angel in the back, and your second is with me. The rest of you, spread yourselves out amongst the trucks." He ordered, and they all obeyed. shawn went to the back humvee, and shadow awaited reese up front.
Riley waited until blades was closer, nodding as he spoke. Then he spat all the water that was in his mouth into blades' face, laughing afterwards. he truly was like a child when he was happy. But that was good, because then he was innocent when he was happy, he had something that was forced from him against his will years ago.
Kael smirked as she spoke. "Indeed, in fact, you shall be set free for your years of good service to me. Yes, I think that is the most fitting punishment for you, to be set free with this one who comforted you, given a full wardrobe of three sets of clothes each, a hovercraft, 1 million credits, and a laser and plasma rifle, with a pistol for each of you. How does that sound for you punishment?' He asked, smiling. Kael wouldnt normally do this, but with gruwel, he felt that it was the right thing to do. Besides, its bad to keep your exes around, isnt it?

Garrett shook his head then opened a drawer pulling out a syringe. "You have to get this injection every week or your heart will begin to essentially turn solid in your own body, fun fact. It's highly illegal and we get the one of the only two supplies, the other is your employer." Val had a slightly shocked look on his face then just shrugged. Garrett however leaned in closer. "You will not kill him before I achieve what needs to be done."

Eron spat in his face. "maybe I'll kill you first, (creative explicit insult)" he replied, snarling. Great.... damn this bodyguard. A minor problem, one taht could be rectified when he returned to The Prime. after all, he was Eron, and only The Prime and his closest bodyguards knew it, but he was the son of The Prime.

Garrett swiftly headbutted Eron and jammed another syringe in him "For that, you have three days now, better hope i'm in a good mood. I keep the only supply you better hope all the lables don't look the same when you try and steal it you pathetic runt." Val looked up a cold look on his face. "Garrett if you can't get him under control kill him now."

Eron instantly wilted like a flower, and bowed his head, looking down submissively. "I yield. I wont do it again." He said softly, all thoughts of eventually killing Val and Garrett gone from his head. The Panther would get his revenge, in due time, but now it became clear that he would have to fight in order to survive for a few days. "I'm sorry masters, please forgive me." he begged, now all the emotions that should be there were. Fear, gratitude, submission, pleading, and subservience.

Val got up out of his chair his fun-loving careless demeanor left him and that of a cold and serious person took it's place. He lifted up Eron's head looking him in the eyes, however there was no light, no twinkle in Val's eyes just a thousand yard stare. "You listen here and cut off the act your little charade isn't going to fly with Garrett or Myself. You're going to do exactly what I say, the first complaint from you and i'll remove your tongue, once I have achieved my goal you are free to kill me, and Garrett will do nothing to stop you." Val then violently pushed Eron's head away. "Take him away Garrett." Even Garrett wore a slightly spooked look ."Right away sir." Without another word he took Eron to a holding cell and posted up three guards at a time. "He so much as twitches and you shoot."

Faye climbed into the back vehicle with Shawn. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Here we go...into the gaping maw of hell." she looked on at the other soldiers loading up. "You know Shawn...I gotta commend you, being CO at your young age. I can tell how much this means to you."
Blades just smiled a bit as he rubbed the water from his eyes. "Good one, Riley." Blades answered with a chuckle. He could barely remember when he was this happy before...back when he was younger...when Faye was around. "You know Riley...after you're reunited with your brother and all...you're more than welcome to come back here as you please. Think of all the good times we'll share...drawing, lazing the day away in the pool...nothing but good times for us." his face showed genuine happiness for once.

Her face fell out of shock "w-what are you talking about master? you seem...unlike yourself. don't i please you anymore? Am i...am I to die?"

"No, Aspen, you've done so well that I'm letting you go. I know its not like me to do such a thing, but aspen, you've been absolutely wonderful. You've made me happy beyond my dreams, I can never thank you enough for what you've done, so I'm granting you something I know that no one else would ever give you. Your freedom." Kael replied, looking at her with a sincere, happy glint in his eyes as he recalled the times they've had together.
Shawn shrugged modestly, and smiled slightly. "Hard work and determination, thats all there is. People in his places take notice of those things, and the reasons why they happen." He replied, nodding as he climbed into the backseat alongside faye.
Riley's mood instantly darkened. he didnt like thinking of the future. he didnt want to leave blades, and besides, to his great anguish, he believed his brother wouldnt come for him. the leopard only remember what he looked like because he was a copy of his brother. "No! I'm staying here." He said forcefully, before sighing and swimming over to blades, looking like he needed/wanted a hug from him.
Eron gulped, whimpering, and nodded as Val spoke. he was too scared to even hear the part about being able to kill him. Now he was scared, and beaten, he feared for his life. there would be no attempt on Val's life, he had cowed Eron, something that had never been done before. His scent now was a strong odor of fear, and when he was thrown into the holding cell, he started to cry out of fright, scared out of his wits by val's words and demeanor.

Aspen was confused, a part of her actually loved master, existed only to serve him, to this part of her freedom was meaningless. it was the loudest part of her mind. then there was a quieter voice that asked ~"What about Kai?"~ Just thinking his name made her stomach flutter a little. Her mouth made the compromise "can Aspen visit master?"

The guards began mumbling to eachother. "Did you see Master Valarius?....That was horrifying....surprised this one kept together...remember what happened last time......he burnt that place....all the families..." The guards continued their fearful talking. "Hey you, you need some water?"

Faye nodded at Shawn's answer. "Admirable..." she looked off into the distance "I do this almost out of nescessity. Fighting so that hopefully one day, we won't need to anymore...but that's a ways away...We may not see the end, but we sure can start."
Blades realized maybe that wasn't the best thing to say. He gave Riley the hug he seemed to be asking for, holding him like he did Faye in her hour of need. "Don't worry...I'm here for you Riley. I swear on my very life to keep you safe..." sounding dead serious as he patted him on the back.

Silas Reese snapped to attention "Yes Sir!" He takes a moment to adjust some cargo strapping before going to the lead Humvee and strapping in. He glances at Shadow, waiting for him to say something before he puts the vehicle in gear.

Shadow climbed in and chuckled in a dark, predatory way. He looked over at Silas, smirking. "You ready to go to hell, boy?" He asked, then gave a laugh and signaled to move out. The route to the safe house had been secured by several nieghborhood gangs they were paying off.
Eron looked at them and nodded, trying to pull himself together, to halt his tears. He couldn't believe it, he was going to end up in a slave collar. He, the favored assassin and son of the prime, was going to be a slave. How much lower would they put him? The panther merely whimpered again and waited for his water.
Riley calmed again and nodded, sighing again. He nuzzled blades. "I know... Thank you blades. Thank you..." He said, then drifted away. "C'mon! We're supposed to be having fun, 'member?" He said, smiling.
Kael nodded. "Yes, you'll be free. You can do whatever you want." He replied evenly, not seeming to be affected by her reluctance to leave.

Blades smiled again, regaining his cool demeanor. "Oh yes, the good times. That's right!" he swam back over to Riley, happy to see that smile on his face again. "After all, we're friends!"
Faye seemed pretty silent for the first part of the ride. She looked on at the various gangs lining the streets. "They had to pay off the local thugs I'm guessing..." Not sounding rude but more observant.

"You fight for a noble cause, far nobler than my own. If I had to guess, given the current operation, these thugs aren't ever going to see their money, and it'll be our job to clear them out with extreme prejudice." Shawn replied, checking the charge on his rifle.
Riley nodded, smiling and laughing. "Got that right! Friends forever!" He said, splashing water towards blades, ducking underwater to avoid retaliation, resurfacing moments later.

The guards tossed him a water bottle. " it degrades once you start drinking so drink fast."

Eron sighed and stood up, turning around, he showed them his tightly shackled wrists. "May I please have my hands free to drink? I won't do anything, I value my own life too much to take yours." He asked, his tone totally sincere, and given valarius' recent threat, he really wasn't going to do anything. Eron hoped they would believe him.

"Um t-thank you master" she bowed deeply to him tears streaming down her face, she wasn't sure exactly how she felt, was she happy to be free or sad to leave master? she had no clue. A thousand thoughts burst forth from her mind and pounded at the tip of her tongue begging to be free. "Where do I go master?"

The guards looked at each other and finally the middle shrugged. "I'll loosen them, but that's it." two of the guards raised their guns primed at Eron. The middle one loosened them up just enough to allow him to move his hands.

Faye sighed as she adjusted her visor a bit "Noble...perhaps. It's feels more like survival to me..." she brushed her hair back a bit. "If it weren't for the military, I'd be in one of my dad's collars or on the streets panhandling."
Blades held up a hand as Riley splashed him but still fair to say he got pretty wet. "Now that's what I'm talking about!" he grabbed a beach ball floating nearby and tossed it gently to him. "See Riley? Not a thing to worry about! Nothing but good times now!"

Kai had a hurt expression on his face, and put his hand on aspen's shoulder, as he spoke in a thick, emotional, wounded voice, "Aspen...." he said, about to cry. She couldve just plunged a dagger in his side, it would've hurt him less than what she was doing.
Kael didnt reply, instead he watched the drama unfold before him. It hadnt been his intent, and now he was starting to feel guilty, and sympathetically hurt for kai. This wasnt what he had wanted, he'd just wanted to do something good for once in his evil, twisted life.
Eron sighed and nodded, "Thank you." He said, then drank the water bottle fast as he could, swallowing it all in record time and then putting his hands back before the bars for them to tighten back up, complying without even being asked. No, he wouldnt dare. Valaruis was already a hair away from killing him, and he somehow had to convince garret he would be worth the injection in three days.
Riley caught it and tossed back, smiling. "Nothing but good times!" he echoed, feeling immensely happy as they tossed the ball back and forth to one another. He had a friend. That's all that mattered in his book. Nothing else.
Shawn sighed. "That is said, incredibly so. At least you found a new family in our brothers and sisters in arms. Everyfur shouldnt have to live in the shadow of slavery, its not right, not one bit!" He said, a bit forcefully before sighing and calming himself. "I'm sorry, please forgive me." He said, sighing and letting his enthusiasm melt away.

The flanking guards raised their weapons again while the middle tightened the shackles. " If have any plan of surviving long do as Master Valarius says, betrayal and insubordination are met with...grim results." One of the guards pointed his gun at a newspaper. It was a few weeks old, but the headline read FAMILY OF 6 BURNED TO DEATH IN HOME. "See grim results."

Faye sighed a bit as the mood in the cab darkened a bit. "It's strange...we come from opposite sides of this dinged-up, dirty coin and yet we find this common ground..." she looked on "But I suppose the past is in the past, time for write the future."
Blades smiled looking at Riley...his new friend, and at the moment his only friend. sure this was good for Riley but Blades felt a happiness wash over him as he thought about it. Not since when he was young and Faye was around was he truly happy. He hit the ball back towards Riley "That's right Riley...good times and nothing but!"

Gruwel pulled up a chair, and sat in it, next to Kael. He squinted at Kai, but not in an intimidating way, more like he was trying to figure out what he'd say next. The thought of being free almost frightened him. He'd never been free in his life.

Kai shook his head and looked confused, then happy, before getting the look of someone who had found something and felt it was going to get stolen. "C'mon aspen, let's go." He said, rising quickly and heading for the door. Kael stopped him with a cough and held out two green passes. "You'll need these. Show them to the guard." He said.
Silas sighed and nodded his agreement to the fear of it being too quiet. "Yes, I know... We're going to have to kill all of these when they come for their payment." He said, in response.
Shawn nodded. "Indeed...." He said softly, " indeed.... Now, I wonder how were going to pay off all of these gangs. There's a lot of them and a little money." He asked aloud.
Riley gave a happy "YES!!" And jumped slightly out of the water to spike the ball. He was smiling and laughing, something he hadn't done in years. In fact, he felt more amazing than ever before.

Blades smiled seeing Riley happy. Looked like he was beginning to heal...and Blades had a friend again. He bounced the ball back at him. "Yeah Riley, we can stay up late, watch movies, draw...it'll be great."
Faye looked on at the various groups around the convoy. "My guess...first come, first served at best. At worst...tell them get lost."

"thank you mas-" she paused for a moment and turned, tears streaming down her face and bowed "Thank you mister Kael...for everything." She took the passes and followed Kai "so where are we going then? Did you think I would leave you?"

Gruwel stayed silent for a while, not knowing how to respond to anything that just happened. He sighed, leaning back in his chair. It wasn't his business, he'd stay out of it. He turned to face Kael. "Well... that was a rather... unexpected course of action on your part."

Silas Reese felt a shiver go down his spine. All these years he thought of the gangs and criminals as the enemy, and wouldn't have batted an eye at shooting one of them if they were unarmed, or in the back even; but that was on the battlefield. Each participant on the battlefield knows the stakes they are playing, even Reese knows he could end up a statistic. Maybe that is why the thought of paying the gangs in blood in return for the safe passage of his unit was making him uneasy. He thought to himself that they would do that to him, and to solidify their undercover rep he was sure they had to play their role to a tee. He glanced over at his commander and nodded slowly, staying silent. The safety of his brothers and sisters in arms relied on him playing his part correctly. He cannot suddenly develop sympathy for the enemy. Not for honor, not for anything.

Shadow turned his head to look at silas, taking a guess at what he was thinking. "In this war, there are no laws, only survival and death. There is no honor, there is no support, there is no heroes welcome after we get back. If we get caught, they will wait one year before they announce to our families we are dead, if the police catch us, we will be executed as criminals. Kill or be Killed, soldier, that is the only rule. I intend to kill." He said in a dead serious voice, one that sent a shiver down the spine of Silas as he spoke.
Kael nodded and looked over at him. "I know it was. I was hoping you'd approve of it." He said, turning to face gruwel. "Do you?" he asked now, looking anxious as he awaited Gruwel's response. "Don't lie to me, I want the honest truth."
Kai paused and nodded, "I don't know where we head.... and yes Aspen, you worried me there. I was afraid you would leave me." He said in reply, the last part softly. He stepped forward to embrace her, nuzzling her head.
Eron's throat tightened as he read the headlines, and he nodded, stepping back farther into his cell, to rest in the shadows. "I will. I already respect his authority as it is. May I have some clothes?" He asked, trying to change the subject and not focus on the imminent threats to his own life.
Shawn sighed and nodded. "yes, thats probably how it will work.... I wonder what's in the the center truck, its a cargo carrier, unlike the other two. I'd guess equipment, but everyone has a full kit on their backs, so what do you think?" he asked, looking at Faye.
Riley nodded enthusiastically, and he smiled as he hit the ball back to blades. "Yeah, that sounds fun!" he said, laughing with joy. It truly was remarkable, how someone so horribly abused could seem so innocent and childish, in a good way, so soon after finally being treated right.

Gruwel nodded. "I do." He turned his head, and glanced out the window. "Then again, I don't expect that you'll be as generous to everyone else. You can't exactly free your entire workforce and drive yourself into bankruptcy simply because I think you should," He turned to face Kael, his eyes squinted, examining him.

"well I vote we go get some food, what do you think?" she walked past the guards, flashing the pass whenever she needed to :can't say I really know much about the area"

"That's a good question Shawn...explosives perhaps, more likely less vital equipment so if things went south with these hired guards they wouldn't need to do as much damage control. A diversion of sorts, perhaps." Faye answered. She noticed the area around her "This looks worse than when me and Blades were kids..."
Blades caught the ball, then swam over to Riley a smile on his face. "Yeah...so many things to do. Day's still young though, plenty of time Riley." he looked off for a minute, a distant look in the eye "You know Riley? It'll be nice having a friend again...so long...alone..." he thought, if he was gonna be his friend he should know a bit more about him. "I know this seems out of the blue Riley but...do you know when your birthday is?"

(Relatively minor announcement: Due to the large size of posts required to respect the effort you are all putting into this RP, I am going to post after three of you have, that way you aren't waiting an hour for a post from me that I'm typing out.)
Kai nodded in agreement. "Food sounds good." He said, as they were stopped by a trio of guards in armor. "Come with us. Your collars need to be removed." The lead one said, as they escorted the two slaves to an area near the hoverbay where their collars were removed, and fashioned into a pair of tight steel cuffs around each of their wrists. "These bracelets will tell any slaver you're under the master's protection, and, if you wish, we can upgrade one of them into a comm gauntlet with mini-computer, and make the other more decorative."
Shawn nodded as Faye spoke. "Yes, that makes sense, I suppose." He replied, looking out at the streets when Faye mentioned that it was worse than when she was young. "It's been this way for years... I've seen it all happen and been powerless to stop it." He sighed in remorse at his inaction.
Riley hesitated, looking at blades with suspicion, clearly having nothing good come from the last time he answered that question. "Why?" He asked, cautiously. Old habits die hard, and Riley, though he did trust blades, was still paranoid that this was some elaborate setup that would still make him into a slave like his previous master.
Kael sighed and nodded. "Yes, I can't free them all, but in time, perhaps, we can weed out the ones who had lives before slavery." He replied, feeling guilty under gruwel's gaze. It was a new emotion for him, and he didn't like it one bit.

"I worked for years on trying to get these things off, and it was that simple?...jeez and I figured it'd take another couple years to file it off" there was a chunk of her collar with a centimeter deep groove in it "took me three years just to do that" she turned to Kai "so what kind of food do you like anyway?"

The center guard just shook his head. "That's not for me to decide, hell if Valarius fells like it he very well may have me killed for giving you water." The guard pointed to two visible cameras recording ever second of the cells. "However i'm sure Master Valarius will give you cloths when he deems fit."

Faye nodded "I guess it just seems worse when you've had some distance from here for a while..." she took in Shawn's remark about being powerless "And...we were both powerless to do anything about it...until now that is."
Blades could tell by Riley's facials that this could set him off if he didn't tread lightly. "Well, in my manor a birthday is a reason to celebrate. You get a big, colorful cake with candles in it, a party just for you, we all sing for you and get you gifts." he patted Riley on his shoulder trying to reassure him "It's something everyone here looks forward to. Actually, Kimi's birthday was last week, I think I have a video of her birthday party if you'd like to see."

Silas Reese' voice hardens with his reply, "Sir, yes sir." he continues to watch vigilantly as he drives the lead vehicle in the convoy. He clears his thought for now, as he feels it will just distract him. His only thought is this, 'I will survive this; for better or worse.'

Shadow was silent the rest of the way, speaking only when he needed to give directions to the safehouse. He was already planning how to take care of the gangs when they came for their money, setting up defensive positions at the safehouse mentally. he'd already memorized floor plans and city plans for the safehouse and underground for a three block radius around it.
Shawn nodded in agreement. "Now we have a chance to settle the score, to finally exterminate these horrible vermin from this once pristine city. its time to reclaim what is rightfully ours." He said, eyes hardening at the thought of revenge against those who stole his brother from him. he would kill them, and he would do it slowly.
Riley got even more spooked as blades said the word party, it triggered some horrible memories that made him get out of the pool quick as he could and sit down, breathing hard, barely able to hold himself together from having a flashback incident like the other day. he was scared, and he smelled like it, his fur was standing up and he had that haunted, terrified look in his eyes.
Eron simply sighed and curled up into a ball as best as he could, restrained as he was, and fell into an uneasy, light sleep. He would wake at the slightest change in environment around him, if it were cause for alarm, but otherwise he would sleep and rest until he was gotten.

Blades already recognized that look, same as the doctor visit when he passed out. His intentions were good but he realized since Riley had been used, his idea of a party was probably different than his. He hopped out of the pool and wrapped a towel around Riley's shoulders, sitting next to him "I'm sorry...I really didn't mean to bring any of that back to the surface Riley. I just...wanted to do something nice for you, not whatever is in your mind I assure you."
Faye sighed deeply as Shawn mentioned evening the score "You ain't the only one Shawn...you ain't the only one..." she realized there was a good chance she come face to face with her father again, more than likely end up her against him. She truly hated her father for treating her like that and all he'd done and she was ready to pull that trigger on him when the time came.

Gruwel got up from his chair, and gazed down at Kael. He knew that he'd only be able to push it so far with him. He sighed, placing a paw on the side of the lizards head, gently caressing his neck. "I suppose it's better than nothing."

Silas Reese follows the direction as he runs through the psych up he went through when he did his first combat mission.
He repeats a mantra in his head, 'I do not feel remorse, my enemy has chosen their side, killing is my business, they will get what they came for.'

They arrived shortly at the safehouse. It was actually an old distribution center/corporate office building, so there was plenty of room to put the vehicles inside the warehouse and get unloaded into the office building. HQ was set up on the main floor, the one level with the warehouse floor, the recreation/gaming/eating areas were above that, and the third floor was the living quarters. The center truck was revealed to be carrying parts to a hover-tank that could be assembled in five hours, in addition to what seemed like half the base's arsenal. Included in that were several prototype weapons, ranging from railguns to beam weapons.

Riley whimpered and nodded. "I know blades, I know..." He said softly, pulling his knees to his chest and trying to calm himself. Finally he took a deep breath and asked, "Blades, can you give me a minute please?" The snow leopard was still looking down and huddled up in the towel, his fur was still up, and his eyes still had the look in them, but he was breathing slower and calmer.
As blades walked away, one of his guards came over to him. "Sir, we have one of the runaway's former master's associates for you to interrogate. We're holding him in the bunker below the pool." The wolf reported, before heading to the pool house, which housed not only the pool machinery, but the lift to the bunker below the pool, where all the guards stayed and the mansion's security center was.
Kael crooned softly as gruwel caressed him, and felt a warm glow of pleasure at his approval. "I've been thinking.... I've made my billions... Why not start cutting down on the operation? Maybe, eventually, set everyone who doesn't want to be here free, then take those who're staying and build a retreat in the mountains... Far away, start a new life perhaps? Would that be good?" He thought aloud, looking up at gruwel.

Gruwel blinked down at Kael. "Yeah, it would." He leaned down, softly pressing his forehead against Kael's nose.

Blades smiled "Sure Riley...i'll let you have a little time to cool off. We'll decide what to do when I get back." before he walked away. He addressed the guard "Good...time to learn a thing or two. I'll don my interrogation gear when I get there." he looked back at Riley once. "You two...keep Riley in viewing distance. Make sure he's safe." A pair of soldiers stayed up, a fair distance from Riley but to where they could see him. Blades took the lift down to the bunker and changed into black pants, a black coat with many straps and zippers on it and a black surgeon's mask with two silver chains pinned on the front in an x. He stepped into the room to the bound fur, wrists shackled behind his back and feet in specially made boot restraints to lock his feet to the floor. "Well well...look who we found...a piece of scum who supports the exploitation of minors...bet mommy and daddy are real proud of you..." his voice taking a darker, possibly philosophical tone "So...how's it feel? Being stuck? At the mercy of another?"
Faye looked around the safehouse, sure it seemed old looking but it looked like a full-on base of operations. "Well...i'll say they really have made this into something. I remember when I was just a cub, we'd sneak out and climb and hide in the rafters and old crates and such. Surprised nobody got killed...although Blades did twist his ankle really bad that one time...and I think Seyla still has that metal plate in her arm from that fall..." obviously reminiscing of a simpler time.

After getting to the safe house, Silas Reese takes his first moments free to get a lay of the land. He looks for all the access points, making mental note to make sure any subsequent patrols he is on don't miss anything.

Silas Reese found four old doors leading directly into the warehouse, two on the north wall across from the offices, and then one on the east and west walls respectively, in between two sets of two garage doors. The garage doors could be sealed tight, but the person sized entrances had only a simple electronic lock on them. Possible enemy infiltration points.
Kael smiled happily and nuzzled gruwel, nudging his nose against his forehead, crooning softly, content. "But would you like to become one with yourself?... I'm sure there's a doctor that can at least ease your pain, if not solve it completely...."

Silas makes a mental note of the entry points, and seeks out Shadow. When he finds him, he snaps a salute and waits for acknowledgment.
"Sir, I have identified some potential weak points in our perimeter. May I work on setting up choke points in case of a direct assault? I believe this can be done without the need of any permanent structures, if we make use of some supply containers."

Gruwel huffed a little out of his nose. "I'm not in pain, Kael." He gently scratched the lizard's neck. "I'm fine."
