The rain fell down on the seemingly eternal twilight of the twilit vale. birds cried from the trees, frogs croaked, and other small wild animals added their voices to the torrents cacophanic pattering. a valley, nestled between a ring of mountains, with a long winding river, and several waterfalls near the mountains. Huge pines and some leaved trees reached for the sky. and beneth the trees, a secret war was threatening to burst forth....
Blackrose scented the ground again, ears pricked carefully. he was tracking a familiar scent, but the name just wouldnt come to him. he was worried. while his brother was capable of leading the pack, he was still always nervous about hunting alone. something just gave him light chills.

Dawnbreaker awoke, laying under an outcropping of rock, sniffing the air, as rain fell down, his ears lay back as a sense of unease, like impending thunder, subdued him. He felt a vision was soon to come, and prayed to Luna that the Moonstalkers will endure the trials likely to come. He arose with a yawn and looked around to see who else was awake.

The darkness of the twilight vale blanketed the sky, shrouding almost all of the stars and seemingly devouring the moonlight. Ryven arose from his slumber groggy, disheveled, and soaking wet. He had fallen asleep outside again and was drenched by the constant down pour. Though he didn't mind, he never did, Ryven seemed to have a special kind of apathy when it came to taking care of himself. He slowly shuffled over to the river and caught himself a fish. The sound of water rushing into the rocks on the river banks brought a calming feeling to Ryven. He peered up into the storm clouds and starred into the void as the rain pelted his face. And for Ryven that small fraction of time felt perfect... too perfect...

Sky padded out of his den, taking a moment to survey the valley from the ledge outside, sighing softly as he gazed out over his home. BlackRose was out hunting, he knew, alone. His brother never liked doing that. But in his absence, he led the pack until blackrose returned. Collecting his thoughts, sky padded around the corner of the cliff side into the upstream clan camp proper. It was in a J shape when viewed from above, with his den on the outside part of the J's arm. He chose to live there because it gave him privacy, and he could serve as a lookout for danger. The ledge his den was on went around to go before Blackrose's den and then ramp down into the camp proper. Most of the dens were in the curved part of the J, so there was a common meeting place and occasionally a kill pile before the Alpha's Den. Skyfire padded down into the camp as everyone was stretching or waiting patiently outside their dens. The two guards, more a formality than anything, still sat upright and alert by the gap in the thornbush wall at the mouth of the curve, dutifully staying until relieved. Sky looked at them, and frowned. "Star, Greenleaf, go take your posts and send Lake and Treefall to get some sleep." Skyfire said, going about the first order of business. The second would be meeting all the other clans on time at Whiterock clearing for the morning gathering. "Everyone else, unless youre nursing pups, follow me! Upstream clan has never been late before and we're not starting now! Ryven, that means you too!" he barked.

Liliana appeared beside Sky, bumping her shoulder against his. "Morning, Beta..." Her voice was like the night, dark, quiet, soft; much like black velvet. "Sleep well?" Her scent had a strange edge to it today, and if he wasn't too preoccupied, he would recognize it.

Ryven surprisingly wasn't asleep when he heard Sky barking orders. Ryven always hated the leadership types, but he loved the calmness of the upstream and thought the trade off was worth it. "Yeah, yeah I'm coming," he grumbled as he left behind the serenity of the stream and headed to Whiterock clearing with the rest of the pack.
Ryven somehow ended up towards the front of the pack near. He noticed Sky and Liliana heading the pack having a small chat. Ryven proceeded to interrupt "Eh, Sky when's Blackrose coming back?" Ryven never intended that statement to be an insult, but it came out as an insult to Sky's leadership. Again Ryven's carelessness got the better of him and after that statement he spent the rest of the trip towards the back of the pack, quietly shambling along towards Whiterock clearing.

Liliana glared at Ryven as he fell back to the rear of the pack. She had been trying to be alone with Sky. As lead huntress, she held a higher rank than rank than Ryven; she decided to remind him of this later. She brushed up against Sky again as she turned back to the front. "Speaking of The alpha though, any idea why he went hunting alone? Other than that he's the alpha?"

Blackrose sniffed at the scent, trying to place it, an uneasy feeling building in his gizzard. his thoughts were interrupted by a croaking laugh from a crow. When he shook his head at the silly brd and refocused, there was another wolf there. A lithe, atheltic wolf stood there, pure snow white fur, with red eyes. Her scent was undeniably female, and she gazed with playful irreverance at Blackrose. He snarled, hackles raising. "Phobe....." She smirked, slowly circling. "Greetings Rose, why are you out here all alone. I thought you shadows always stuck to each others backs?" He snorted. "And i thought you Moonstalkers kept to yourselves?" "Well, wheres the fun in that? Besides, im looking for someone." Blackrose tilted his head. "Looking for someone? Who?" She considered him for a moment, then answered. "One of my clans females was with pup, and shes gone missing. I need to find her before she gives birth."

Quinn sat dead center of where the meeting usually was, he idly considered the fact that he was probably in the way as he started in on his breakfast, a small harpy eagle. he stretched lazily in the warm rising sun "Theyll get over it"

Blackrose frowned. "Ive not seen any females like that. Look near the downstream delta, the best herbs grow there." The other Alpha nodded. "Thanks...." She walked by him, not before nipping his flank and prancing off, tail held high. Blackrose shook. "I hate that woman...." Just before there was a forest shatting bang, and everything went dark.

Sky immediately stopped, hearing the super-loud bang. "Stop!" he ordered, and then a sudden fear gripped him as he knew that if anyone was hurt, it would be his brother. "Everyone, carry on to the meeting, Ryven, Liliana, come with me. You too, Barktail." He barked, keeping his voice flat and urgent. "Wait at the meeting grounds, if we need help expect Barktail." He ordered, trotting away from the group to wait for his chosen wolves.
Quinn saw the upstream clan arrive. However, there was a feeling of crisis about them, as they milled about anxiously, some pacing, a couple sitting down to talk anxiously amongst themselves. He noticed that SkyFire was absent, as well as Blackrose, the Alpha and the Beta. So was Liliana, the Lead Huntress.

"Something tells me that sound wasn't good..." Liliana said, sighing as she was forced to put aside her own needs for the moment. She scented the air, checking for signs of whatever had caused the bang.

Quinn eyed the group suspiciously, then went back to eating,waiting to see if they would address him.

Ryven jumped immediately after he heard the large bang. He quickly made his way towards to front of the pack and heard Sky shouting at him to hurry up. Why me Ryven thought to himself as he picked up his pace to join the others. Though Ryven knew the real reason why. The reason was one of the only things Ryven was not apathetic about, his job in the pack. As a scout Ryvven took it upon himself to memorizing the entirety of the Shadows' territory. There was not even a single twig within the region that Ryven did not know about. As Ryven moved on something triggered within him and he became ecstatic. "This way!" he shouted to the others, "Don't ask how I know this but, I know the general area where Blackrose tends to hunt. It's somewhere near the downstream delta."
Ryven dove off the established path and began running full speed towards the delta. To Ryven the direction to travel was clear, he bobbed and weaved in between the trees, bushes, and roots making quick work of the path. He placed all of his focus into his job ensuring that he made it to the delta as swiftly and efficiently as possible, always choosing the best path. Though even when he was motivated by his job, Ryven was still careless. As he neared the delta he looked back to find that he had completely abandoned the group. He wasn't concerned for them, they knew the way to the delta and would hopefully be here shortly. Ryven was more concerned about himself or what would become of him when the others caught up. Ryven figured that Sky would scold him and beat him with disdain, but that was not his concern. It was Liliana, she's gonna rip my throat out or worse for abandoning them, Ryven thought to himself. In that moment he thought up an idea to try and mend the situation. "I'll say my plan was to rush ahead to the delta and pick some herbs to treat any of Blackrose's possible wounds and then meet them on their way over here" Ryve said as he thought aloud, something he tended to do when he was nervous. "Then I can claim I abandoned them out of foresight and efficiency rather than ignorance."
Ryven made his way swiftly to the delta, but just as swiftly he stopped. There was another wolf at the delta. The wolf, with pure white fur, seemed to be looking for something. Out of curiosity Ryven slwoly approached the wolf, "Hey you! Why aren't you at the meet... wait..." Ryven was lost for words. He did not recognize this white wolf and the words slipped from his mouth, "A-are you a moons-s-stalker?"

Dawnbreaker found that his pack had apparently left for the meeting at Whiterock, so he trotted off on his own. He felt on edge, his tail down, and his ears flat as he walked. Then the loud bang cut through the air, shattering his thoughts, he stopped in his tracks, ears perked, his eyes glazed over as his mind worked frantically.
His vision turned inside himself and Luna's gift to him showed him a glimpse of something. A few moments later he shook his head, and he swallowed dryly. He broke out into a run, growling to himself, "This won't do at all.."

(Ryven): The wolf looked at him, a pretty female with red eyes. "Why yes little scout. im the moon stalker alpha in fact. And you, your a s-s-s-s-shadow arent you?" She gave him a winning smile, despite the mocking tone of her comment.
(Sky & Lilliana): Soon, the rest of the wolves found a large hole in the ground, where it looked like rubble had slid down, and dank moist air flowed out. The rain was muddling scents, though this was perilously close to moonstalker territory

Quinn finished his food, picking the bones clean "so where is your alpha? and that annoying beta?" he never got along with the beta...especially since the beta always chased him away from the pack when he was trying to flirt with the females.

Frostfell, the current acting alpha, snarled at the packless folf. "Nowhere you need concern yourself lone one."

he shrugged "oh whatev-" he caught a scent and quirked his ears "interesting...well I don't have time for you" he began to follo the mell

"Cool." Liliana said, looking down into the hole in the ground, then against all better judgement, started down into it. "Let's check it out."

The eerie hole was sickeningly scented with the smell of rot and fungus. it was also dark, and confusingly shaped. Soon Quinn was catching up with the pack.

Liliana stopped when the scent became stronger. She looked around, marked her territory, and turned back around towards the Beta.

the scent briefly got stronger as he broke through the trees spotting liliana "well hello there"

"Oh you've got to be..." Liliana muttered, spotting Quinn. " the only attentions I can gain are those of the half-breed..."

"ah! you wound me...so you're really trying for that idiots attention? he wouldn't know the scent if that was all he had to breathe!" he moved in closer "besides, we all know i'm stronger...i don't even need a pack to thrive"

"Hmm... Maybe starting a new pack wouldn't bee too bad..." She muttered, thinking quickly. If she made the Beta jealous, maybe... It was a long-shot.

his ears perked and he quickly flattened the back "so...ever wonder how I take down eagles? i could teach you..."

Her nose twitched as she started circling him, checking him out. "Ever wonder how I took down that bear?" Granted, she hadn't been alone, but there had only been one other with her...

he was slightly smaller than you, but then again there were a lot of things different about him...the other wolves smelled ...familiar, even ones not of her pack still smelled distinctly like wolves, he smelled...warmer

Blackrose woke in darkness, a musky fungal scent clogging his nostrils. "Egh, disgusting...where am I?" He looked around, sneezing a few times and choosing a path that smelled like surface air. He didnt notice a pair of glistening yellow eyes watching him in the dark.

Skyfire growled and snarled at Quinn. "Back off lone one! You have no right to her! She's too good to soil herself with you!" He spat, moving between the two with his teeth bared. Leilani had no doubt who was claiming her then. It wasnt the half breed. The Beta's claws were out and he was willing to fight over her. Bark tail had noticed some strange scents and was watching them patiently, allowing this ritual to be undisturbed.

"So now you claim me..." Liliana said, watching Sky defend her. "After how many times? That doesn't matter now... Just curious, what took you so long?"

(We aren't keeping with documented and realistic pack structure whtwolf... The fact that there are three separate clans in one pack should tell you that.... Rose has the final say, but for right now, the AGM says that when the mating season hits, every wolf can make the pack grow if they wish.)

SkyFire gave a growling laugh at the folf. "You half breed, I forget you've never been in a pack. We can mate whomever we want so long as they are not the Alpha's. I noticed her, how could I not? However, we had and have more pressing business that doesn't concern packless half breeds."

(im saying that when its mating season, or when a female comes in to heat (which does sometimes happen outside of mating season), any male in the pack who can claim and defend her has mating rights, unless it is the alpha's female. And heck, you can mate the alpha's female, just..dont get caught...)

(whtwolf, we are playing talking wolves, and half of us have pastel fur, realism is not something i strive for, so quit trying to pick fights. besides, if you wanna talk realism, your plaing a packless folf, so you wouldnt be allowed to mate either)

(Plus, the potential for a Folf is extremely low... Wolves have 78 chromosomes, while red foxes have 38 and fennec foxes have 64. They are all canines, yes, but... Yeah. Just play. All this is for is fun.)

(actually it's a somewhat frequent occurrence for a loner to mate with one of the packs females then get chased off, sometimes the female will follow, how did you think new packs started?
i'm not trying to pick a fight, but I do feel I was misled and despise the affects of said misleading)

Ryven's ears perked at the word "alpha". He had never had much social experience, especially with higher ups. To make matters worse he never really interacted with females either, unless it was Liliana beating him for his insubordination. However he mustered up his confidence and spoke, "So... my name's Ryven... and yes I am a scout of the moon stalkers... I mean shadows," he was obviously nervous and was doing everything he could to prevent his tail from going in between his legs. Though before the other wolf had a chance to respond Ryven began to ramble nervously thinking aloud, "Why is she here? What am I going to do? Did she cause that loud bang earlier? Why me? More importantly why is she smiling at me?" After that he stopped stone cold staring into her red eyes as he realized that he had just been thinking out loud and she heard everything.

She smirked, pacing around him smugly. "Well then my little scout, ill tell you. No, i didnt cause that bang, though i am curious to know who did. Im here looking for someone. Your going to do exactly i tell you, and its you, because well, its always the scouts who have the dangerous jobs." She suddenly body checked him, knocking him over and growling down at him, though her eyes glinted with mischief

(actually you should have no say over her demotion, if it's done the way it is in nature be then it's based off of strength...if she mated with some other canine it'd be evidence that you are weaker...you'd be demoted,not her...unless the canine didn't want to join the pack, but then your influence would still be hurt, you'd find your subordinates challenging you more often)

(who's worse, the guy who follows nature or the misogynist who automatically assumes he has more power than a female? it makes no sense to follow someone weak, we as humans don't even do that, i'm waiting for rose on this one)
EDIT:(I think it's a lot better to base it off of strength, (and not just physical strength ) it makes more sense, it also prevents someone from cementing theirself in as a leader and gives ALL the players a fair shot, good for both the game as well as the metagame, both packs and players benefit.)

As Ryven hit the ground he rolled over and exposed his belly as fast as he could. Ryven's short stature was great for running full speed through a forest, but it hindered his ability to be any good at fighting. "Fine," he grunted remembering he was dealing with a leadership type person. It was then that he caught a slight wiff of a very distinct smell, Liliana and Sky. He knew the others would be here soon. It was just a matter of time and Ryven figured he would try to the white wolf distracted. "What do you need from me?" Ryven responded staring straight into the wolf's red eyes.

(Whtwolf, the rule is that you appeal to the gm in pm, and that the game goes on. Otherwise the game would never go on. Now RP, going off of my decision as Co-Gm.
Edit: The players are not meant to become alpha at this time, we have a set storyline and it will be followed.)

(I also propose that if we have a conflict with the AGM that they become unable to overrule, it creates a dictatorship in which even if the agm is wrong they get their way in the story...lets face it, if a decision in game was made based on a ruling set forth by the agm then the gm revoked it later, we wouldn't go back to change it....which results in the AGM getting their way even if they are wrong )
(it's not like me trying to point out flaws helps, sky is just going to sit comfy as the second highest rank in the story, and abuse his power as AGM to keep himself there, it's literally impossible for him to make an unbiased decision in this situation)

(Alright, im going to set down the rule, since obviously you too are going to argue no matter what i say :P Sky, whtwolf, do not fight in this thread anymore. i really like both of you, but if your going to take up nearly half a page with arguments, im going to stop this. Now, in this story, since i will NOT be using natural wolf behavior as a concrete rule, more of a guideline, another player can take the position of Alpha, but they are not intended too at the current times. Sky is not a misogynist, hes the second in command in the pack, Sledge is lead huntress. Now, if she either mated the alpha, mated the omega, started her own pack, mated the moonstalker alpha/omega, or defeated either the moonstalker/shadow alpha/omega, then she could advance. i think that that is plenty of advancment opprotunities dont you? And if you want to follow nature, your character wouldnt even be allowed to be in the same territory. Now, please BORH OF YOU, stop arguing. Sky, respond to Sledge's post about finding a scent. Sledge and Blinded wolf, thank you for not arguing.)
She smirked, tail swishing lightly as she scented lightly at his belly, then licked it. "I have a...proposition for you."

(sledge is also second in command, sky claims to be able to demote sledge...as for occupying the same territory, I planned ahead for that, I assumed that you and I could come to an agreement later...what about being demoted when defeated by a lower rank? even if we are not going by natural order, leaving someone who is clearly weaker in charge is bad for the pack...especially when tension between a rival pack is so high)
(I mean no disrespect, just asking for some clarification)

(It is generally assumed that those in the pack are happy where they are, but yes, if a "weaker" pack member challenges you, you can be demoted. however, a random NPC will not just up and challenge you, and since your character is not a member of the packs, he cannot challenge a packed wolf for position. if you make plans, dont just assume please, inform me ahead of time if you plan something. Lastly, if she mated with a wolf not in the pack, shed probably be chased of, technically losing status in the pack

Liliana stood, catching another scent. "Ryven." She said, following the scent's trail. "I'll kill that scout."

After Liliana had gone a little ways, a chuckle sounded, and Nightdancer, lead huntress of the Moonstalkers pack, crept from the brush. "Liliana, darling! It is SO good to see you...but, so close to our territory, one does wonder..."
She smirked. "An offer to join a new pack. One where you neednt fear the punishments of the others, where you will be welcome and safe."

"I'm tracking one of our own." Liliana replied, continuing on her path and ignoring Nightdancer as well as she could. "I don't have time for you."

Nightdancer growled, snapping at Liliana's back leg and raising her hackles. "How dare you just brush me aside like that you shadow scum!?!? Have you no respect for your counterparts?!"

The wind began to blow. Ryven laid there on his back and stared into that wolf's bright red eyes. He rolled over and looked at the river delta. The water bashing against rocks and river banks, percussing with perfect tempo. This was the river he had called home and made his own.As the wind picked up and the scents of his kinsfolk became stronger. Could he really abandon the pack that grew up with and called his family.
Ryven's mind flooded with emotion and perplexing thoughts. Tears began to come to his eyes, but not a drop would come out.Time stopped. The river's percussion fell silent. The howling wind seemed to be no more than a whisper. And the strong scent of his kinsfolk seemed to disappear. For an instant nothing moved.Then Ryven's world shattered. He let out a gut wrenching howl that seeming shrouded the entire twilight vale with a single piercing note. Ryven's heart beat faster and faster as the broken pieces of the world around him reformed into a clear and straight line.
Ryven stood up and faced the white wolf. "I am Ryven," he said with clear devotion and determination, "scout of the shadows no longer. No longer shall I suffer from the fear and oppression of those I have called my kinsfolk. No longer shall I call this accursed river my home. I am Ryven scout of the moon stalkers!"

Liliana's ears twitched as she heard Ryven's howl, but then she turned blindingly fast on Nightdancer, hackles raised and lips lifted in a murderous snarl. "Counterpart? Ha! I am more of a huntress than you could ever be, and I'm soon to be Beta female. You will not claim to be my counterpart. Now back off, before I decide you look like prey."

Nightdancer backed up, grinning. "Ive been itching to tangle with your flea bitten rear! Cmon then puppy, take your best shot!"
The mysterious female smiled, licking Ryven's nose. "Excellent. Now, come along new scout, we need to clear the area. You can learn your new home tommorow. for now, danger is in the air." She nipped at Ryven's flank playfully, darting off, a ghost in the shadows

Liliana laughed. "It will be a pleasure to kill you." She snarled and threw herself at the other wolf, a plan already forming in her mind.

Quinn stuck where the others had left and sniffed around following blackroses scent as well as using his keener vision to try to track him he began his decent into the hole.

SkyFire did the only thing an absolutely overwhelmed wolf could. He'd heard the howl of Ryven, and felt his soul rip into pieces. He'd lost his brother and now he'd lost Ryven. He liked Ryven, he utterly regretted not telling him now. He'd wanted to groom him to be better, to be his protege. With the loss of Ryven, and the sounds of nearby combat, he howled. It was full of pain and sorrow, but a determined sense of vengeance, and a call for all the pack to gather to him. "Barktail! Gather them at the big border oak! We're going for moonstalker blood!! They stole our alpha, now they will pay!!" He snarled, bounding off to the meeting place.

Ryven followed the wolf, he was happy as if for the first time in his life he had made a decisive choice, he just hoped it was the correct one. Ryven's ears twitched at the soft sounds of combat in the background, but he did not turn his head back for he had made his choice. Again his ears twitched when he heard Sky's distinct howl, and Ryven stopped for a moment. Though he quickly snapped out of it and continued to follow the white wolf. Out of curiosity Ryven interrupted their so far quiet trek, "So if you're going to be my new leader can I at least know your name?"

Nightdancer darted forward to meet Liliana, baring his teeth and trying to headbut the other huntress
Barktail and the rest of the shadow pack were gathered at the big border oak, snarling and angry, hackles raised.
She smiled. "My name is Phoebe, little scout." Her ears flicked at the sound of Skyfire's howl, and she hunkered down. "Faster, we need to leave here."

Thinking in mid lunge, Liliana ducked and went for Nightdancer's legs, biting at his front right first. She was rather well known amongst her pack for these split second plan modifications.

"Phoebe," Ryven said quietly As the two of them raced through the forest, "If you're looking for the fastest way to reach the border of these regions follow me." Ryven took a sharp turn and jumped over some large tree roots. "If we continue on this path we should reach the border before any shadows have a chance to find us."

SkyFire hopped on top of a rock nestled amongst the roots, and gave a loud snarl to quiet the assembly. "THEY STOLE OUR ALPHA AND NOW THEY'VE TAKEN ONE OF OUR OWN!!! BLACKROSE OR BLOOD!! WE SHALL STORM INTO THEIR TERRITORY, FOREST CLAN SCOUTS WILL LEAD THE WAY TO THEIR CAMP AND DOWNSTREAM SHALL BE THE FIRST WAVE OF VENGEANCE!! DO NOT KILL, HOLD A LINE ACROSS THE ENTRANCE TO THEIR CAMP!!! IF THEY FIGHT, IF THEY CHOOSE TO, THEY SHALL DIE! BLACKROSE OR BLOOD!!!!!!!!!!" He growled out to the pack, Howling the last war cry of Blackrose or Blood, to be echoed before they stormed the moonstalkers.

After being hit with Nightdancer's paws several times, Liliana ducked under the other huntress' attacks and backed off to regroup herself. "You are a fool, Nightdancer... Your actions will cause our packs to go to war." She lunged again, faking an attempt at her opponent's feet again, then rising up above the other wolf and coming down at her neck.

Quinn studied the crystal flowers for a moment, sniffing at them to see if they were the source of the smell. Experimentally he picked up a large rock and dropped it on one of them to see if he could break it.

"YOU WOULD RATHER LET YOUR ALPHA SUFFER IN THE HANDS OF THE MOONSTALKERS? STAY BEHIND IF YOU DARE!! LOYAL SHADOWS, WITH ME!!" Skyfire called, leaping down from the rock to jump across the border, starting the surge like a tidal wave towards the moonstalker camp. Forty some odd wolves is not a force to be taken lightly.

Nightdancer yelped as the fangs gripped er scruff, snarling and snapping visciously at Liliana's legs
The wolves poured through the forest, as the full moon shone down on the forest

"excellent...now I have a way to track my path out of here" he took the rock and continued smashing crystals every so often, leaving a trail to follow out.
"ROSE WHERE ARE YOU" he continued walking, calling out occasionally.

Nothing answered him, though his voice echoed through the caves and richochet back, eerily distored

Sky kept quiet. The soft thunder of the feet of the shadows was warcry enough, as well as an old pack tradition. They drew deeper and deeper into moonstalker territory, closing in on their camp rapidly. They made no sound, silent as the shadow, following their leader into conflict. Silent. Unstoppable. A black mass like the shadow of death.

Soon enough, a low crack issued from the ground under their feet, and the earth dropped, plunging the shadows into blackness and dark

Skyfire let out a startled yelp as he fell, but kept his site about him to call out, "Check for wounded!!" Right before hitting the cave floor and getting the wind knocked out of him and landing on his hind leg wrong. He whined in pain softly before he got up to see to his pack.

Quinn continued on his way, pausing as he felt a rumbling "I need to be more careful...this cave may not be very stable" he continued walking along...but slower, testing his weight as he went.

Many other wolves had landed wrong on legs, backs, or tails. Luckily, none had fatal injuries, but the majority were still hurting.
The ground seemed safe. However, the next time he smashed a crystal, he noticed the rock glowing where his tongue has touched it
Nightdancer finally backed off, snarling and turning tail, fleeing into the forest

Liliana, panting, lifted her muzzle and howled victoriously, then turned back towards where she had last scented Ryven and started running in that direction.

"This is as far as I know," Ryven said with a heavy mix of confidence and uncertainty in his voice, "The rest of the way back I'm following your lead Phoebe." Ryven felt this nagging doubt as if he had not made the right choice, but it was to late for that now, he had made his choice and he would be resolute.
As he took his first steps into moon stalker territory Ryven began to feel more and more at peace. The sounds of the river grew quieter until they no longer haunted him. Then Ryven gained a new sense of bewilderment with this strange new land. He wanted to explore and he wanted to know this region even better than he knew the river region. Though he felt a sudden rumbling in the ground and a loud crash in the distance. "What was that?" Ryven exclaimed curiously as he turned to face Phoebe, "Shouldn't we go check that out?" He was letting his new found excitement get the better of him, at this point all he wanted to do was find something new and explore everything that could be explored.

Liliana ran until she found where the scent became stronger, then pourd on the speed. She flew over logs and stones, her feet barely touching the ground before hey lifted again. She was gaining on her scout, and she had every intention to give him a good thrashing when she found him.

Ryven nodded then turned down his head and kept moving following Phoebe's lead and taking careful note of the area around him. Curious Ryven asked, "Seers? Do you really believe in that superstition? What was their prophecy?" Ryven had never been the type of wolf to place his entire belief in superstition. Though he valued knowledge and he preferred to know everything that he possibly could.

Dawnbreaker growls softly behind Ryven, "The prophecy is that war is to come between the Shadows and the Moonstalkers. One based on mistrust and misunderstandings. It is already beginning." His tail is down and his ears are flat, he looks pleadingly at Phoebe, "Luna's vision has shown me more.. that answers lie underneath. If truth can be found the war need not happen."

Ryven jumped. He was startled by the sudden appearance of this other wolf. Ryven had let his carelessness and bewilderment get the better of him. "And who might you be?" Ryven asked as he was still trying to find out what direction this other wolf came from.

Dawnbreaker nods to Ryven, "I am Dawnbreaker. I am a seer, which you seem to think is just superstition. Luna has blessed me with her sight."

Phoebe smiled. "Yes, dawnbreaker is the main seer for our tribe. Like the shadows have been blessed with the gift of hecate, the lady of the new moon, the goddess of darkness, we Moonstalkers are blessed by Luna, the lady of the full moon, goddess of light." She raised her head, scenting the air. "I smell shadows....."
No answer came back through the caves to the folf, though the calls of bats, and other subterran animals werre all around

Ryven's scent peaked, along with two others that Liliana recognized as moonstalkers, just before the huntress burst through a bush to find the three standing around. She dug her claws into the rich soil, causing flecks of dirt and grass to fly up as she slid to a stop, making deep furrows in the ground. As she came to a stop, her lip lifted in a snarl, and her ruff rose; a deep, smooth growl came from her throat. "You are in so much trouble, scout..."

Phoebe smirked, letting a low growl out to alert the huntress to her prescence. "Ah, Liliana, good to see you. A pity your shadow scum." The alpha moved slightly in between Liliana and Ryven. "I think not."

Liliana quickly grasped what was going on; Ruven had betrayed his pack. "Traitor!" She snarled. "Step aside, Moonstalker. This is between me and the scout."

Phoebe bared her teeth in a sadistic smile. "I dont think so huntress. You should have more respect for an alpha. And as an alpha, its my duty to protect my pack members."

"I have respect." Liliana said. "I asked you to step aside. Now, I'm just going to have to make you!" She threw herself at the alpha, aiming for the neck, then executing the same plan she had against Nightdancer.

Liliana yelped as she was knocked down, but quickly got back up and spun around to face the alpha again; she had no fear, this one. This time, she kept glancing at Ryven, then juked in his direction and came right back at Phoebe again, this time aiming for the top of her neck. (You're probably gonna have to pin her... She's not one to give up a fight easily...)

The alpha snarled at the huntress, full of rage. Phoebe lept forward, flailing with her paws and snapping with her teeth at the huntresses eyes and muzzle

Liliana was struck a few more times, and got a decent sized, but shallow gash on her muzzle. She used her momentum to roll out of the way once more, this time between the Alpha and Ryven. "That all you've got, Snowball?"

Phoebe's eyes glittered red in the moonlight, as wolves began to apear from the surrounding trees. All the hunters and most of the warriors of the moonstalker tribe, arrayed around the lone shadow huntress. the alpha smiled, a cold grin. "No, do you?"

"Coward!" Liliana snarled, taking a quick count of the enemy wolves. "Calling in this much backup to fight me? Come on! I thought alphas were better than this!" She was bluffing, but it was a good bluff; she knew the odds were heavily against her.

"Leave here Liliana!" Ryven snarled, "You're out numbered and fighting a losing battle." Ryven began walking towards Liliana and raised his tail, taking a dominant stance. "I am not the traitor here. You and and your kinsfolk are the one's who betrayed me. I spent my life learning every twig and branch in that place and all I got was beatings for my 'insubordination' and 'carelessness'. That river is no longer my home, you are no longer my kinsfolk, and your alpha is no longer my leader. I am Ryven, scout of the moon stalkers. Now leave our territory and never come back you shadow scum." By the time Ryven finished monologuing he was only a few feet away from Liliana and staring straight into her eyes, waiting for her to make a move.

"Whether you believe it or not, you've betrayed your blood. And you shall die for it!" Liliana snarled and lunged at him, teeth going for his throat while she batted at his head with her paws.

Liliana yelped as she was struck down and pinned, then strangely started laughing. "Go ahead, kill me. It'll be the last thing you ever do... My pack's out to destroy yours... They will tear you to shreds..."

Ryven stood over Liliana and peered into her eyes, "You're a fool. Just like the rest of them. Knowing you, death would be too good for you. You'd receive honor and praise for being a warrior and fighting against us. I think we should let you live. Go back to your accursed pack as a shameful and defeated wolf. Send a message to the shadows."

"You caused this war, Ryven." Liliana said flatly. "You can run as far and fast as you want, but you can't ever loose the fact that you caused this. All the deaths that will come to pass are on your shoulders."

soon, the folf heard a heavy breathing echoing around in the darkness, like some great bear edging closer.
Phoebe looked down at Liliana. "Ah yes, you brave brave shadows....but, without your alpha, what do you intend to do? But, to the task at hand. I wont martr you, thats ceartain. So, i think ill just try a little...reminder...."

Phoebe snarled, and a pair of wolves, a scarred male hunter and a lithe female warrior, came up, the warrior taking Liliana's spine in her teeth, while the hunter took the huntresses neck in his teeth, to discourgage any more attempts at violence

The addition of two other wolves to hold her down just made Liliana laugh again, though there was a hint of pain in her voice. "I'm flattered... You acknowledge my strength..."

Phoebe smirked. "I acknowledge you lack the intellect to be silent in the place of your betters. No hush, im considering your punishment for your disrespect, and for attacking my new pack member. She strode over and nuzzled Ryven, glaring daggers at the huntress.

Ryven returned the gesture to Phoebe. "What do you suggest we do? We could leave gaping wounds all over her body to fester and scar. Or we could cripple her so she would never walk right again. Hmm..." The thought of being able to return the beatings that Liliana had given him in the past was almost too overwhelming for him.

Phoebe gazed coldly at the female. "No, those would just be seen as honorable scars. We dont want her obtaining any glory from this. Hm...perhaps hosting a Moonstalkers child? Or, perhaps removing her eyes. What do you think Liliana. As a sign of my mercy, you may choose between the two."

"To hell with your mercy!" Liliana snarled, letting out a whine as an attempt to free herself brought nothing but pain. (Go with the first...)

"I like the first option," Ryven said. "Liliana here has done everything she can to try and mate with the shadows' beta. She would never be able to mate with him after such a disgrace."

Phoebe smiled. "Then ill choose for you....Imbrium, you know what to do....Come moonstalkers, to the den..." A silvery furred male, lithe and predatory, strode forth with a smile, as the rest of the moonstalkers faded out

"I'll tear you all apart..." Liliana attempted to snarl between her heavy panting, though it came out as more of a weak attempt at a threat. She turned on the wolf that had just mated her, as soon as she had partially regained her breath, teeth bared. "I'll start with you."

He finished licking himself clean, shaking his head. "No you wont, trust me....you know that mating bite i gave you? Well, it turns out, ive learned that theres a special plant in the forest i chew. it causes nausea when i bite people. It should kick in soon. So, i mean, if you wanna chase me down while your sick, you can. If you pass out, i can always make double sure your gonna have my kid."

Liliana glared at him for some time longer, but her lip lowered. Now that he mentioned it, she was getting a little light-headed... And it hadn't been all bad; after all, he was the only one who had mated her in... Well, ever. She shook her head to clear it of the thought, and made her dizziness worse, then flopped down onto the floor of the den. "My life is forfeit..." She whispered.

Imbrium chuckled, walking up and giving her a gentle lick across the top of the head, and a nuzzle to the belly. "Take care of the pups now. Ta!" He turned and practically pranced off into the forest, tail flicking back and forth happily

the cave didnt respond to her comment, sitting there minding its own buisness. After a couple hours, the nausea faded, leaving her surprisingly clear minded

As soon as the nausea faded, Liliana was on her feet and out of the cave. "Maybe that mutt would take me in... No, he probably just wanted to mate..." She sighed. "Why the hell am I talking to myself?" She turned toward the closest border between the wolf territory and the lands beyond, and started running, thinking of no other option.

After a while, a pair of red eyes loomed from the gloom, and a cracked voice whispered. "You dont belong here..."
Once again, the forest didnt answer. it would be easy to find her way to either the moonstalker camp or the shadow camp, but for the time being, the pure physical thrill of running helped clear her head, and unclutter her mind

Liliana stopped when she noticed the scent markings noting the border. "The border... To home..." She shook her head and snarled. "No. Home no more. I can't return." With that, she set foot over the line and continued on her way, though she was traveling slower now; more cautiously.

Spotting what looked to be the mouth of a small cave, Liliana pressed on until she reached it, then curled up and started licking her, now lightly bleeding, paw pads. She didnt even bother with looking further into the cave. "Maybe I'll just stay here... Let my pack think I'm dead for now... Give em something else to fuel their fight against those Moonstalker scum... And, I'm talking to myself again... Great."

A few chuckles emited from the darkness around him. "Idiot, its a folf, not one of those packed wolves." "Oh, i do see now." "It IS rather bright." "Its an easy mistake." Then the original voice spoke. "Well, little not-wolf, what are you doing here?"

"Because I'm insane aparrantly..." Liliana muttered, dismissing the voice as her own for a moment. She then froze, realizing she hadn't said it, and leapt to her feet, her claws scrabbling against the stone as she whirled to face whoever it was who snuck up on her. Her lip lifted in a snarl, her ruff rose, and she started with the ow smooth growl before she even saw her percieved attacker.

A young male wolf jumped back, cowering. His fur was a blotchy mix of shadow black and moonstalker silver, and he had a single green eye and a single red eye. he rolled over, exposing his neck and belly, tail tucked submissivly. "Please dont eat me!"
"Well Quinn" "We are" "The knockers" "the whisperers" "The deep wolves" "And our" "job is" "to know" "what is important to" "Know!" "your in lu" "ck, we know lots about los" "t things, and sur" "face things. What are you" "looking" "for" "friend" "quinn?" The words were smooth and seamless, despite coming from an unknown number (4? 5? maybe 6?) of mouths, they seemed like a single fluid sentance"

Liliana relaxed when she realized he wasn't attacking; she ceased her growling and lowered her ruff and lip. "Relax, I'm not going to eat you... You just scared me is all." She curled back up and resumed cleaning her paw pads, watching this strange abomination wolf. "How much of that did you hear?"

Pheobe licked her paw. "Do as you wish. Choose a den, perhaps find a mate, get soem meat, get some sleep, but be ready. A war is coming"

"Well... It would seem I am..." She finished cleaning herself and turned towards the forest, then laid her head down and stared sadly off into the forest. "He broke me..." The closer the wolf got, the more he would be able to ell that she was in heat, and the more he would smell the beautiful, beautiful scent of the male on her. She quickly shook her head. "Damn it, Lili, stop thinking of him like that."

The male, who couldnt be more than a season above being a pup himself, walked up and sat down beside her, licking her side. "Its okay. Um, i mean, im obviously not a female, but shouldnt you be happy? I mean, that your in heat?"
The deep wolves laughed around him. "No, no wolves down here." "Dead or alive"

Liliana sighed. "I was set with the beta of our pack, I was lead huntress... I had everything going my way... The other pack however... I was forced to mate with one of their males... Now neither pack will want me... You aren't old... Are your parents around here somewhere? Or at you outcast like I'm sure to be?"

"Cause we are the deep wolves!" "No other wolves" "Pups today, so literal." "Ridiculous" "preposterous."
He shook his head. "I dont have parents...i just...live here." He nuzzled her happily. "You smell nice."

"Great... Thanks, kid..." Liliana muttered. "Just... By yourself, huh?" She stood, flinching at the pain from her paws, but didnt mention it as she turned towards the cave. "Just the fate I'm doomed to... Unless..." She turned back towards the forest. "The old one... I heard him mention he was a seer... Maybe he knows what'll become of me... If I could sneak into their camp... He's a Moonstalker though..." She sighed and flopped back down.

"um....thank you...I think" he turned back "if you guys like visitors I could return sometime?" he waited for their reply and afterwards began to follow the trail of crushed crystals out.

He nodded, still nuzzling happily at her side. "Yeah, okay. You can stay up here with me, ive never had another wolf up here."

Once out of the cave Quinn stopped for a minute "I blindly look for rose...or I can look for the female from earlier...she may know something" he followed her scent, quickly ending up in the moonstalkers territory.

"Hmm... Jazper... Interesting name, that..." She looked at him and stood. "If your bed is something besides stone, that would be amazing..."

And was equally quickly met with a moonstalker patrol. "What do you want packless one?" "You afront our territory with your prescence!"
He nodded, leading her to a bed of soft mosses and leaves. "Her, you can sleep here if you want."

"Thanks..." Liliana said, curling up in the bed. "Like I said, today has been long and.... Difficult..." She yawned and closed her eyes as she laid her head on her front paws.

After her day, it wasnt hard to fall asleep. Thankfully, hecate smiled on her, and her sleep was deep and dreamless. When she awoke, Jazper was curled up by her side, and the sun was high in the sky, about noon by her judging
The lead huntress growled. "If your name was worth anything to us, we would learn it."

Liliana sighed upon seeing her surroundings and the young wolf curled up at her side. "Nope... It really wasn't a dream..." She nudged Jazper to wake him. "I'm going hunting, kid... Do you have any preferences?"

A pair of teeth clamped shut on the back of neck, right now simply in a grip, but in a position that could easily turn lethal. A second wolf spoke up. "Excuse me? I dont think you realize where your paws are dragging your mangy tail...."

Liliana stood and stepped over Jazper, as quiet as the night itself, and walked out of the cave. "At least I still have my stealth... Who are you kidding, Lili? You know you loved your pack as much as you love hunting..." She just sighed again and looked down the rocky slope she had climbed, in search of an easier way to traverse it.

One of the wolves walked in front of him, kneeling to chuckle. "Awww, hes kinda cute...can i keep him as a pet?" "Naw, Phoebe hates it when we bring pets back to camp...." "Least its just a folf, not more shadow assassins...."
It was easy, from this vantage, to spot a smooth path down and back up

"See? You weren't thinking straight earlier... That's why you hurt yourself." Liliana said, starting her way down. "That, and I keep talking to myself... That too." She reached the bottom and scented the air for prey.

Dawnbreaker appears out of the brush behind the group that has stopped Quinn, he lets out a growl and narrows his eyes, "I don't think this one understands. I will escort him out of our territory myself. You won't need to worry about him.." An ear twitches uncharacteristically as he looks Quinn in the eye.

I'd think you guys would be excited at giving me a chance to mate with one of the shadows females...it would defile her...you'd get to give a big speech at the next meeting about how you'd never stoop that low...mother or romulus people, I never even marked here...despite the fact that I really really need to pee...now if you would please let me go, i can continue on my way and none of us will be bothered"

Dawnbreaker shakes his head, "Surly a lone wolf, even a half breed, would know how the tensions run high when two packs at at war. You must trust me when I tell you that you will find who you are looking for, but not by going through here. Follow me, and I can point you in the right direction. Try an push your way though, and I cannot stop what will happen."

Dawnbreaker walks past Quinn away from the Moonstalker's territory, after he feels he is out of earshot, he says in a low tone, "I do intend to lead you in the right direction, but if you had found your way past that patrol it would only prove more and more difficult. The wolf I believe you are looking for is no longer in our territory, but she did pass through." He looks at Quinn, "All I ask for helping you is to tell me what is it like underground.. What is down there?"

Skyfire looked around, at the members of his pack, the group returning to whiterock, to await his arrival and the final word on rose. As demoralized as the pack was, he had no choice other than to be named Alpha upon his return if definite proof of Blackrose being alive is not recovered. It wasnt what he wanted. How could he have known that the land would fall beneath them? Those who had opposed him in the first place would now use that to claim that he no longer has the First Alpha's approval, that he was unfit to lead. Three of their number had been crushed by falling rock, one was still buried beneath it, the other two would be taken back and buried in the ancient place, by whiterock. Skyfire sighed, and looked to the two wolves accompanying him, two brothers that are the best fighters in the pack. "Thank you for coming with me. I know that I don't seem like the one to lead, but someone needs to. I've no stomach for fighting right now. Lets go and find our alpha. War will come in due time, but we need our leader." He said, as they trotted towards the moonstalker camp, to seek audience with phoebe.

"Lead me in that direction first and I'll tell you...No offence, but I don't trust you...especially considering that one of your friends just had their teeth at my throat"

He leads you a ways along the border of territories, before turning back into the Moonstalker's territory, "If we are fast we can avoid the patrols. We won't have to go very far through my pack's territory, we just need to cut through a bit. It is the Shadow huntress you are looking for, am I right?"

"I saw her capture. I know what happened to her, and I tracked where she had left our territory."

Dawnbreaker looks sidelong at Quinn, "Well.. she is not really injured, and is not a captive anymore."

"I'm not worried about her...I just loathe suffering in general..." he began to pick up the new scent "so I suppose now you want to know what I saw in the caves?" He was clearly trying to change the subject, though...one had to wonder, was he hiding feelings for her...or was it the way his voice trailed off when he mentioned suffering?

Dawnbreaker slows to a trot beside Quinn, "What is it that you saw in the caves?"

"not much...it was pretty dark, All I really saw was Rocks...dirt, and some glowing crystal" he briefly considered telling him about the deep wolves...technically he had never ACTUALLY seen them...not to mention they spoke of observing the surface, surely his pack would hunt them just to gain information on the shadows...to get the upper hand "I never saw much that was interesting"

Dawnbreaker stops in his tracks and looks crestfallen at Quinn's answer, with his tail down and his ears splayed out in dismay, "There.. wasn't anyone down there? I could have sworn.. My visions.." he snaps to attention and coughs, then notices the other wolves in the clearing, "Oh.. I don't think I should be seen by them." he takes a few steps to the side concealing himself in the underbrush.

Liliana finally caught scent of something; a deer, and took off after it. She flew silently through the forest, bounding quietly over logs and under low branches. Others might have been better trackers, or better fighters, but Liliana was lead huntress for a reason; she could see the flow of the woods while running and use it almost instantaneously, not to mention the silent grace with which she moved. While other hunters/huntresses were fairly silent, none were as hard to detect as her.

Dawnbreaker's ears perk when Quinn mentions the deep wolves, then lay flat as he calls out to the other wolves.
At Stormcloud's challenge he steps out from the brush, growling softly, tail down, "I don't run."
As Quinn explains to them he looks to Stormcloud to see his reaction before adding, "What he says is true, I don't know where exactly she is, but I do know the direction she has gone. If you let me go after I will help you find her."

The deer was no match for the silent grace of the lead huntress, and soon warm meat and bone were crunching between her teeth. the deer was warm, tender, and fat, a nearly perfect catch
A high, eerie howl echoed across the forest, heard by all. it sounded like no wolf that ever was born beneath the moon

Liliana ate her fill, then set about the process of dragging the rest of her kill back to the cave. She froze when she heard the howl, ears twitching as she glanced around her surroundings. "What in the name of... Who was that?"

"It was dark...Couldn't really smell them...so does that tel you what you want to know?"

Dawnbreaker bows his head at the sound of the eerie howl, he closes his eyes and whispers "Luna protect us."
He then nods to Quinn, "Thank you. Knowing of their existence is enough for me."

Dawnbreaker sighs, "Luna's visions do not reveal everything. I think those deep wolves are key to ending the conflict with the Moonstalkers and the Shadows. If there was no one down there, I would be at a loss, but now I have some hope."

he growled "you don't go down there..." he started to pick up Lilianas scent again "they are the key to nothing! You guys want to end this? A good start would be to release their leader and deal with the consequences...things were fine until you guys started getting hostile"

It was simple enough to drag the deer back to the cave. which ended up being a smart decision, as it started to pour rain

Liliana left the rest of the deer close to the mouth of the cave, and continued further in. "Hey, kid... Brought a deer back if you're interested..."

(I'm just gonna start this with saying I'm sorry I haven't been able to post much. I've finally gotten into a rhythm with school so I should be able to post more regularly.)
Ryven nodded at Phoebe, "I think I'll try to find myself a nice den." From there he walked slightly south of the moon stalker camp until he came across a lightly forested area. As far as he could tell no other moon stalkers had made dens in this area. Ryven surveyed the area until he eventually came upon a hollow tree with roots that made an entrance just big enough for him.
Ryven had to tear and cut some of the roots to make the entrance a bit for of a comfortable squeeze. Once inside the hollow tree it was quite roomy and homily. Ryven laid his head down to rest and nigh instantly fell into a deep sleep.
Ryven awoke to the eerie howl. Though Ryven thought the noise was just his tired mind playing tricks on him. He stretched and yawned resisting the urge to return to his nap. Then he squeezed his way out of his newfound den. "I should probably begin to learn they area," he though aloud as he strolled towards the moon stalkers camp.
By the time Ryven reached the camp the rain had already begun. He realized that he never took noticed of where Phoebe made her den. Before giving the Idea much thought Ryven shouted, "Eh, Phoebe! Would you mind showing me around the area! I'd like to begin learning the region!" So there Ryven was sitting in the middle of the moon stalker camp in the pouring rain waiting for someone to respond.

Skyfire sat between his two guards, just outside of the moonstalker camp, as the rain began. He choose to ignore the howl. Getting back the alpha was the sole purpose of the mission, not investigating wierd sounds. Their scent drifted into the camp proper, catching Ryven and the whole pack's attention.

Phoebe was emerging from the den, sniffing, as Ryven approached. "Child, be careful, there are shadows nearbye....."
Around the remnants of the shadow camp, the forest began to fill with moonstalkers, growling lightly
He bounded forward, sinking his teeth into the deer, tail wagging. "Hey! Thanks! This is great!"

"Yeah, no problem..." Liliana said, lying off to the side, near the mouth of the cave. She watched the rain come down, enjoying the smell and sound of it, but also watched Jazper out of the corner of her eye while he ate.

Ryven sniffed the air. "I'd know that scent anywhere'" he said taking another whiff just to make sure, "That's the shadow's beta and he seems to be with two others."

The moonstalker alpha growled, hackles raised. "How dare they invade our camp!?!?!?!?!?"
Jazper came and flopped over next to her, sniffing lightly at her. "Hehehe, hi...." his tail wagged happily, and his ears were wiggling

"Well somebody's a happy puppy..." Liliana muttered, finally giving in and playfully batting him once on the muzzle.

Skyfire overhead phoebe's loud outraged cry, and answered with a three short howls, the request for parley. He anxiously began to pace nervously, in between the two warriors he'd brought along in case things turned south. The beta did not trust phoebe one bit. For all he knew, they'd stolen his alpha, and they might steal him.
The moonshadows clustered into a circle, some of the warriors helping the older members and the young kits of the pack up onto the whiterock pile, to put them out of harm's way. The remaining warriors from the three clans, those in fighting condition, took up a tight cluster below where the rest of the pack was. The injured warriors that could fight got on top of the rock to shield the young and elderly, as well as the sick and wounded.

Soon enough, the moonstalker alpha appeared out of the darkness, growling. "What do you want, shadow scum?"
He barked happily and batted at her paw. "yeah!"

Liliana wagged her tail momentarily, then stood, bopped the youngling on the nose again, and bounded away. She stopped a few yards away and crouched in the play stance. "Let's see what you've got, kid..."

Skyfire looked at her. "We can make a deal. Give us back our alpha and we can have peace. That's all I can promise for now. If you do not have him, but know where Blackrose is, then I can still promise peace if you help us find him. We will ignore the issue of the blood traitor Ryven for now, and we might do so forever if you help us. Phoebe, we don't want this war. Give us our alpha and we'll leave your pack alone." He said.

Consider this your warning, i'd sooner destroy myself to stop you, than let suffering and war taint this land." with his final words he began to sprint away, following Lilianas scent.

Ryven emerged from behind Phoebe, "The only traitors here are you shadows for the way you treat your kin." He growled and stared directly into skyfire's eyes. "We don't have your alpha and we have no interest in helping you. Now leave this place before you end up like that huntress of yours."

Skyfire chose to completely ignore Ryven and focus instead on phoebe. He watched her every move, even her breathing, listened to her every sound, and attempted to figure out if she was or wasn't lying, or if she knew more than she was telling.

Jazper barked happily, bouncing forward like he had springs for legs
Phoebe snarled at him. "We dont have your alpha, now go you impudent shadow, before i have you chewed!"

A look of weary sadness shows in Dawnbreaker's eyes, and he hangs his head in silence, only to snap into action as Quinn sprints away, he chases after him, "Wait! It's not true! The Moonstalkers don't have the Shadow's alpha! If we did, we wouldn't keep him hidden. What would we gain from that?" He pants between words, trying to keep at least within earshot, "I know you don't have a lot of reason to trust me. I don't intend on going below to the deep wolves. Their existence fills me with hope. I don't want war. It is not Luna's wish to have her children fight, this I know.."

"fool" he began to pick up his pace, his next words barely drifted on the wind to dawnbreakers ears, a quiet mutter almost drowned out by the wind that carried it "I have no reason to trust anyone" with that he broke into a sprint, quickly gaining ground on Lilianas scent

Dawnbreaker breaks off his pursuit of Quinn, as he is quickly loosing ground on the other wolf, he barks out "Pride is our weakness, Quinn. I feel I have given you what you needed, and you have answered my question. May Luna smile on your endeavors." he turns around a trots back to Moonstalker territory.

"You have got to be kidding me..." Liliana muttered, preparing to leap at Quinn and tackle him if need be. "Go away or I'll persuade you to..."

"hey...hey, relax...I don't give a damn about hitting on you after you used me like that...I'm just here so less people die, there aren't many of your pack members that particularly enjoy my company, and getting them away from their higher ups is impossible, I just want to find your alpha"

AREN'T THEY YOUR FAMILY?!" his hackles raised, he was clearly getting angry, he paused for a moment, calming down "there is a war coming, I can't stop it alone, you are the beta...as close to rose as I can get, and not only that, you were one of the last people to see him...yet, here's the oh so brave shadow lead huntress, running away from a fight and leaving it to her inferiors"

"I go back to that pack, they'll kill me or worse!" She whirled on him and snarled. "So watch your tongue before you make judgements you don't have anything to base off of."

"you're the best hunter-" he caught a scent "Is there a moonstalker nearby? I...i smell" he sniffed around for a second and his head snapped up "You wouldn't...how? why? Why did you mate with a moonstalker?"

She sighed defeatedly, all the fight going out of her once he found out. "It wasn't by choice... I was outnumbered and captured..."

"but...they wouldn't do that with everyone around would they...i mean sheesh, boundaries, so why didn't you fight him when you were alone ?"

IF YOU TRULY CARED FOR ANYONE YOU'D HELP THEM EVEN IF THEY WOULD DRAG YOU TO THE PITS OF HELL WITH THEM" there were tears streaming down his face, his hackles raised his fur bristled, his body shaking. A sob escaped his throat and he turned away from her and began to walk away. then stopped, the words shakily escaping him "Did your beta tell you why I despise him?"

"No. He didnt..." She laid her head down on her forepaws, so that she was still looking at him, albeit in a very relaxed pose. "However, I would assume you're going to... Go ahead."

"because I had a mate...a vixen, and four kits...the weather was bad early that year, but she always worried more about everyone else...including your pack, I hurt my leg and she went out hunting while I stayed with the kits to keep them warm, your pack was out hunting too...they brought food home, four rabbits...AND MY MATE. I SAT WITH MY KITS AND WATCHED. THEM. STARVE. I couldn't feed them...they couldn't eat meat yet. I spent years trying to that hunting party, finding out he had led it, and getting scarred up in the process. Then i had a dream, she came to me, and told me that I was foolish for suffering and causing suffering on her behalf. She doesn't want this war, and I won't sit by and let people suffer and die while I watch...never again"

Liliana sighed. "Well, I'm sorry but, I just don't see how that has to do with me..."

"if you'd sit by and let your family suffer, then they can't let you come back...you were never with them to begin with." with those final words he glanced back at her "If you won't help me then i'll stop the war alone, even if it takes my life" he began to walk away, making his way down the mountain.

Liliana sighed again as she watched him leave, then stood and turned to go back in the cave. "If I go back, it'll be when I want, not on the demands of some half-breed." Not more than a minute later, his words finally finished working. She took off after him, soon falling back into the flow of the forest. She flew past him, then jumped and rebounded off of a tree; her momentum was going straight still, though she was turned around. She slid to a stop facing Quinn, ruts in the soft soil where her claws had dug in. "Let's get something straight here... I'm not coming back for you, as sweet as you may be... I'm coming back for my pack... Even if they don't want me..."

he grinned "I don't really care why you're coming back...I just care that I have less chance of dying out here now, so you knew rose better, where would you look?"

"I don't know him all that well..." She said. "Although I'm willing to bet the Moonstalkers have something to do with his disappearance..."

"they said they don't have him" he shrugged "they don't really have a reason to lie to me"

"And I don't have a reason to trust that they didnt lie." Liliana said. "Afterall, they did make me... They will pay even if they don't have him."
