Massive Multiplayer Furry Online RPG
« on: November 03, 2003, 11:34:39 pm »
I'm going to release my first game made in "Byond".  It is somewhere between FurryMUCK, Furcadia, and Legend of Zelda a link to the past.

Not only will there be places to just hang out, but there will be areas for dungeon crawling, or if your of the more violent type...areas for player hunting.

It will also expand if anyone wants to add their own house for example, or add a dungeon.  I'll also be adding in custom icons for all you "nonstandard" furries '<img'>  if you care to send them to me (32x32 pixel bmp, all four directions, with three frames showing movement, email me for details).

You can find the dreamseeker program on www.byond.com and you can download the game somewhere on my website (i have yet to get it done enough to run it publicly, but expect me to get it done within the week.)

it is set in a medieval background and I welcome all questions, comments, ideas, insane babbling, and monetary donations!

ok! I just uploaded it to my site, but it's not hosted yet so there wont be any players other than you on it.

http://www.grycsroom.furtopia.org/downloads.htm
(okay, that should work)

we'll mark that one as v. 0.0.1

oh yeah, one more thing: the total download will be only about 600 kb

Cool. It's almost like a chatroom kinda thing (except you talk to NPCs). I can't wait for it to be finished.

Well, as an android, I have strength, speed, stamina, and resistance.

I have three weapons on my right arm, a laser that works much like a Star Trek phazer. A proton blaster, the kind of gun thats used in Ghost Busters, and a tractor beam tpye thing that could be used like a grapple hook.

On my left arm there is only one weapon. A small missle launcher. (When orignally making my character I decided not to make myself too powerful so it takes me ten minutes to regenerate another missle after I fire one.)

That basically all my weapons for attacking with.

that I can probably give ya stat bonuses to the relevant stats to simulate android physiology.

life + 0
magic - 6
attack + 2
defense + 2
speed + 2
charisma + 0
beauty + 0

Since you're an android, magic probably wouldn't go over well with all those delicate electronics (especially lightning bolt!'<img'>

well, the little DM on my shoulder is screaming no, but I just had a decent idea on how to handle the hi-tech weaponry:

Laser: requires batteries, three shots to a battery; stops a character from moving for 10 secs
Proton Blaster: also requires batteries, gets one shot to three batteries; deals 4d6 damage (lol..and maybe even 8d6 against ghosts!'<img'>
Tractor beam: takes one battery to move one character 6 tiles
Missile launcher: takes six batteries to fire once;deals 6d6 damage and rolls 1d20, on an 18,19, or 20 the character targeted is killed

and if ya dont wanna use batteries, you can use swords and other weapons too.

I dont have any cyborg wolf icons, so you're gonna have to either find someone to make original tiles, or rip some from a game somewhere, or make them yourself.

I forgot to put this up earlier, so here it is:

Icon tiles for a player must consist of graphics of any size, but if they are drawn specifically for 32x32 pixels or smaller then they generally look better.  there has to be a graphic of the character facing north, south, east, and west.  For each direction, there must be a graphic of the character with his left foot out (as if he is taking a step), his right foot out, and finally both his feet even as if he were just standing there.  Basically, snes graphics work nicely.

In all honesty, I has no clue as what you mean by batteries.
But a sword, would be cool. Like a samarai sword type thing.

What?? Delicate??  A lightning bolt would do nothing to me. Hell, it should give me health at the least, a recharge. But hey its your game.

Okie, batteries will be an item that can be loaded (used like a potion) and then used whenever needed to power weapons.

Katanas and broadswords will be pretty well standard issue, along with maces, staves, daggers etc.

Given all the ICs, capacitors, and other components (carry a motherboard across shag carpet and you'll know what I mean.) would probably be fried unless you had an energy convertor implanted which, because of the weight would decrease speed by -1 and cost a pretty penny too.
I'll pull this rule from Arcanum: Technology and Magic just do not mix.

As for the beauty thing, all characters start off with a base of 3 in all scores.  I figured that since it either had metal grafts of some sort or no visible machinery, being a borg wouldnt change how you looked.

After having a read through these posts, I've had a great idea for this. Co-operative play would be kinda cool. Chars have to work together to do certain things, for example, Lex uses his tractor beam to lift someone over a chasm to get a key for a door or something. It'd be cool to add in if you ask me.

*Nods in agreement* That would be cool.
I know you said that swords and stuff would be standard issue but what other weopons will there be? Will it just be traditional weopons or will there be guns, rocket launcers, plasma rifiles and so on?

it won't be the file that's password protected, it'll be the log in name. You need to register for BYOND first to get a key for it. Once you've done that, all you'll need is your username and password.

Lex, you should be able to host it and I'll put version 0.0.2 up  before 9:00 pm central.  Basically, all it has is the say, yell and a few emotion commands.

i'll work on making dungeons that can be only completed if ya work together.  It shouldnt be too hard to do.

I'll post later with the subdomain name of the thogrim site as soon as I can get access to my ftp account.
Ther'll be a page with all the icons I have of all the avatars currently available.

I'll implement all the icons listed on the page.

As for the weapos, I'll try to implement the different weapons pretty soon.

Okie here goes on a list of weapons:
Firearms (pistols, rifles, and also more expensive high tech weaponry.)
Axes
Bows (all sizes)
CLubs
crossbows
daggers
knifes
polearms
staffs
scourges
sickles
scythes
spears
slings
swords (all sizes you can think of)
Hammer (once again, all sizes)

I'll also try to implement any and all firearms listed in the dungeon master's guide for 3rd editioon Dungeons and Dragons.

Basically, the environment will be set in the middle ages, but the people will be from all areas of space and time.  There will also be different cites or even continents for different time periods if i ever feel the need to separate the time zones.

first order of buisiness:
awright, the newest version is up at
www.grycsroom.furtopia.org/downloads.html

second order of buisiness:
Over the long weekend I forgot where I was at in the development of thogrim.  I need you guys to look it over and tell me what ya want to see done to the game next.  I cant remember what I was doing last.

Third order of buisiness:
Lex, I think I might have an icon for ya listed on the icons page.  it' s icon 5,6.
