Hi everyone.
Thought I would just start a thread to
post some art as I have some to upload..
Here is a drawing I did for Kaloyan Alett..
One of our fine moderators.

This is a old drawing of mine. But with the 4th of july fast approching
it fits the season.

1st picture -
Looks like a nice cosy reading room. Kaloyan has a very contented expression :).
2nd - I remember that one. Indeed very fitting for this time of year.
Nice work :).

I don't do many fighting characters. Here is a
coyote with a axe I did a while back.

With the white background, I wonder what he's snarling at, or why he has the axe :D!
-
With the white background, I wonder what he's snarling at, or why he has the axe :D!
He has an ax because he is defending his home from vicious, quadruped beasts that are intent on rampaging through his home. The beasts are like armadillos, but much larger in size and they feed on carrion and wounded animals rather than insects. The guy in the picture needs the ax to be able to attack their armor plating.
(Of course I made all that up, just seemed to be an interesting motive and I couldn't think of Old Rabbit making an aggressive character who didn't have good cause to be so.)
-
Heh..
That was a good story Kalo.. Actually I was working
on a character idea for a 3d model I was doing for a friend.
Thanks for the comments Kalo, and Shim .

Mr.Rabbit
Those are Really Really Nice. The Composition on those are amazing! and the attention to detail is to be admired!
The use of coloration is also well concidered.
I see your also well acostumed to graphic cheats! wich means most likely you have had training or you are very observent! in any case, your work is delightful!
I also like the over all flaver of the atmosphere. They are very humbling.
Iv been wondering. What you have been useing to create these pieces. Is it paints, oil pastels, or really good prismatic color pencils? (Il understand if you dont want to answer. ^_^ )
-
Thank you for the kind words Onion Knight . I don't mind
telling you how I create the drawings.
Due to vision problems I rarely draw using paper or
canvas any more.
So I draw, and paint with an electronic tablet using photoshop 7
almost entirely.
After getting the basic sketch worked out I paint in
the color and details. Mostly using the brush, smudge, burn
and highlight tools.
I build up the finished picture using layers which makes
working on the different parts much easier.
I rarely use any of the effects unless it really helps. I did use
a lighting effect in the top drawing for part of the background.
Drawing on the computer takes practice. But I enjoy the
challenge of making a nice picture that way.
I am self taught, and have been actively drawing for over
20 years.
Hope that answers your question.
Old Rabbit :orbunny:
-
yes, thank you! I look foward to enjoying more of your art! (:
-
The 2nd one looks like it just came from a book, it's that good! But the first one love how you did the light and background in there looks cosy even though with a stone floor, great work all of it. :)
-
Thank you for the nice comments CaseyCoati ..
I am glad you enjoyed looking at my art..
That encludes all those who have commented.
I should have a new drawing up soon.

Hi..
Here is a drawing I did for Arbutus.

Wow. I'm just stunned to see a picture of Arbutus without his trademark coat.... I think I need some time to recover. x_x
-
Heh.. He said it was too warm for it, but I put him
in some duds anyhow. :D
Thanks for the comment Kalo
-
Arbutus's avatar is in black and white , so I never knew his fur pattern was white and brown. Nice to see him with a smile too (:.

Enjoy it while you can. I almost never smile. I only disapprove of things.

I've said this before, but thanks so much for the drawing, Old Rabbit. I need to get around to making an avatar out of this. :)
-
I love that "A" on his belt buckle. Just in case he forgets whose it is, haha.
-
Keep this up, and I might have to recruit you to be a storyboard artist on my films.
-
These are really, really good. Very nice work. My favorite is the first one, like everyone else said, it looks so nice and cozy.
Great job!
-
thats awsome i wish i could draw no matter the pictures are nice
-
Thanks for all the kind words.. Arbutus, Sskessa , Patrick Rangerwolf
,killrhawk , and Dark husky.
I haven't been feeling all that well for the last few weeks. but I think
I am on the mend. So hope to post more art soon.

Ooh, we need a good flautist at my sessions on tuesday. A couple know how to play the tin whistle, but its just not the same. So come on down, hehe.
Another nice pic, but take a close look at your character name. Not sure you meant to spell it with 2 Ls.
-
Thank you for the nice comments Liedt , and for pointing out
my misspelling. I took care of it.

Here is a Skunk girl warrior. A fun project I did a few

Hi..
I finally got around to makeing another fox and rabbit drawing. This
time the cowboy rabbit better be quick to escape.

Old Rabbit :orbunny:

Hee hee, I love this one! It's so cute! And his hat has earholes! :D
-
Glad you like it.. Thanks for the nice comments Arbutus.
-
Well done, mate. :3 If you're open to suggestion..I'd love to see the rabbit sticking his tongue out and the fox gritting its teeth in frustration. :D
-
Thank you Mooshi for your nice comments... Glad you enjoyed the drawing.
I like the idea of the frustrated fox.. So I will work on a drawing showing it.
Old Rabbit :orbunny:
-
Aww man I love it, its a really fun piece!
-
Glad you liked the drawing, and thanks for your comments Bai ..
Old Rabbit :orbunny:

Here is something different.. You don't see many taur drawings. So I thought
I would post a foxtaur picture I did that turned out kinda nice.

Will comment, as always ;)!
When I saw the description, I wasn't sure what to imagine.
The male looks as though he's been working out a lot ;)
-
Nice job on the foxtaurs. 8)
-
Thank you Shim and Katra for your nice comments. I kind of like drawing
taurs. Seems like a interesting mix for anthro and animal characters.
Old Rabbit :orbunny:
-
I agree--taurs have a unique juxtaposition. I really like that last picture. Good job!
-
Thank you Landrav .. Glad you liked the drawing.
I plan to do more..
I kind of like the idea of a taur as it gives one the agility
of the animal along with the anthro upper body for human
like activities.
Old Rabbit :orbunny:
-
Lovely picture, you always have such a sweet innocent style to your art :)
-
Well this is a thread to watch! I hadn't noticed the foxtaurs! X3
I'm surprised how natural their poses seem, having slender paws for such a bulky body. It doesn't feel weird :3 It's just so breezy!
-
I wanna ride one. ;3;
-
Old Rabbit, you capture emotion very well. your work is stunning! I look forward to your next creation ^_^
-
Thank you Bai, Serra, Mooshi, and Onion Knight for your kind
comments.. I am glad you all enjoyed the drawing.. Most of the
time I try to put my self into the work, My feelings so to speak.
I drew these two to be close. and care for each other.
I will try to continue to post drawings you all will enjoy.. I have a couple in
work..
Thank you again.

A while back I thought of drawing a fox dad changing his
little ones diaper trying to help his mate. Course we all know
how stinky that can be. :D

Hope you all get a laugh out of it.
Comments welcome as always.

Oh gawd babies :P I can't stand babies!! >w< Nor little kids! I'd make a terrible parent :D
If any, I would be just like the dad fox there, with a "Oh maaaaaaan" look X3
I have to say I can totally relate to him X3
-
Furries have to be babies sometime :D And they are sooooo cute.. :orbunny:
Thanks for the fun comments Serra I appreciate it..

With human children, yes, I'd react the same way :D
But when it comes to little wolves... *asplodes into cake*
Also the pic with the -taurs is really neat!
-
Ah yes, well... when it's fantasy I'm all ok :3 I love new-born animals <3
But again, one thing is loving them from a fantasy point of view and another actually raising one of those spawns of ebl!
-
I'm in Serra's boat. I have an avid aversion against children, especially infants and toddlers. The greater distance from them and me the better. Basically, I wouldn't mind if babies are treated like smokers in the state of IL. They cannot be in any public area, especially theatres and airplanes.
Now Ol'Rabbit's artwork looks really cute. The dad reminds me greatly of The Fantastic Mr. Fox. I can just imagine him in the movie making exactly that kind of reaction to changing his son's poop holder.
-

Make room in that boat for me too :D

Hahaha,Id vote in favor of that any day of the week,I find them extremely annoying.
-
Thanks for the comments Avan, Serra, Liedt, and Choky.. I kind of
think most people are attracted to animal babies. I guess it's the
cuteness, and innocence that draws us to them.
Course it's the stinky end that tends to make us go away. :D

What? Get off mah boat!! :(

Yeah, I'll take a puppy over a human child any day. :D

I thought it would be fun to draw Apollo the Incinermyns fursona. A
ermine monk. (changed from munk.. Thanks for the input Shim.)
Hope you all enjoy looking at it.

Again, I thought that one turned out pretty good. Also, I looked over the rest of your art too, and I think it's all really impressive (much better than anything I could do, that's for sure)!

Is there a story behind the gemstone on your forehead?
(Also..OR...'monk', not 'munk' :-[)

Oh, how cool! That looks wonderful, OR. (:

I'm still working out the details, but it's grants a certain array of psychic abilities (telekinesis, teleportation, and, to an extent, pyrokinesis). Also, sorry if I'm hogging the thread...I really don't mean to...
-
Aww that ones a really cute one! I always love your stuff Rabbit!
-
That's certainly an interesting bear you've drawn now! I have to say the gem is slightly weird... is it floating above the head? Stuck over the fur? Ingrained?
-
@Serra: Embedded in his forehead. He was supposedly born with it.
-
The monk looks very wise and serene :). The jewel in the forehead is cool too 8).
-
Thanks to Apollo, Shim, Arbutus, Bai, Serra, and animagusurreal for all
the nice comments.. Glad you all enjoyed it..

Now for something especially cute.. A little bunny proudly holding his

Thank you very much Otacon for the kind comments.. I appriciate the praise, and
glad you liked my art.. Keep checking as I try to upload a new drawing now
and then..
There are several fine artists here on furtopia so it's worth looking when
anyone uploads a drawing..
Thanks again.
Old Rabbit :orbunny:

Aw man! SO much new OR art and so little time to comment. What can I possibly say?
:) Thank you for sharing your art with us Old Rabbit, it's always nice to see.
Hmmm, that seems kinda bland compared to my usual paragraph of constructive criticism. I'll have to come back to this topic next time I have more time.
-
Wow! I love the expression, that's incredible!
-
That carrot will last him a good long time!
-
Oh my bog! <3 it's absolutely adorable! You know how small things are cute? Well this one's cuter <3
-
Oh WOW! This last one is my fav pic youve ever done, even topping the skunk with the bow and arrow one, which was, until now,my fav.
So kyooot! Well done!
-
Thank you Kaloyan, Bai, Shim, Serra, and Choky for all the nice comments.
Kalo don't worry about a long comment I am glad you enjoy the art.
Bai I am glad you liked the Bunny's expression. I try to put my feelings into the
characters I draw.. Perhaps that helps the expressions look better..
You know it Shim.. He can nibble on that carrot for quite a while. :orbunny:
Serra I really tried to make this little guy look cute.. I am glad you feel it is..
Choky I am glad you liked the bunny.. I keep trying to improve my art. Hopefully
you will feel the same about some of my future work..
Thanks again...

Here is another cute picture of bunnies. First Kiss..
This little bunny gal found a boy she likes.. I am not sure he
feels the same though. :D A little Bunny's Suprise kiss is a
better title.. Thanks Shim.

I really enjoyed this one! Not too fond of the grass but other than that, I really like how you put it all together. Who is he taking his carrots to?

Just looking at the pieces you have posted here, Old Rabbit, I can see an improvement in each of your newer pieces! Great job on all of them! :)
-
Thanks a lot for the comments Kada_ru.. It's knowing
others enjoy my drawings that makes all the work worthwhile.
In the Arbutus drawing I drew him offering a carrot to new
members in front of the furtopia clubhouse.
Thank you for the suggestions about the fuzzy look on
the bunnies arms.. It's easy for me to miss small details
due to vision problems. So I appreciate it when people
point them out. Glad you enjoyed the drawings.
The foxtaur pair was drawn to show a fox couple where
the female was enjoying his attention. Glad you liked the
background. I don't always do one, but this seemed to
need one.
I thought the fox helping his mate with a diaper change would
be a lot of fun.. Glad you liked it..
Thanks again for all the comments.

In the Arbutus drawing I drew him offering a carrot to new
members in front of the furtopia clubhouse.
I've been wondering what the main furtopia building looks like :D!
-
But that's only the front entrance door you're seeing, Shim. ;) The rest of the building is much, much bigger. :D
-
Here is a taur that is rare.. A goat taur I drew some time
ago. I touched it up a bit. Hope you like it.

Keep up the good work.
I really like the shape of the last one. A lot closer to feral. It's perfect for the pic. ^^

Thanks for the nice comments Alsek. Glad you liked the kitty witch, and my other art too.

Now for something a little different.
A space drawing showing a Furry Space Service scout craft.. Likely doing
a survey of the local planet, before returning to their mother ship.
I did a lot of detail as I plan to use the drawing as a background
picture for my computer.. :orbunny:

Hope you all enjoy the drawing ..

Dude! I'm a sci-fi nut! Personally I'd have prefered a Star Trek or Stargate theme, but this is still pretty awesome!
-
This one's really well done, OR! So are they going to abduct anyone? ^_^
-
The scout craft has me thinking of The Jetsons theme song. :D
It's all nice, thanks O.R.
-
Thank you Apollo the Incinermyn, Arbutus, and Sk Skunk for all the nice
comments.
There are so many ways to design a space craft I just went with the flying
saucer look as it is a nice clean simple design.. The inside required some
imagination, but I think it turned out well.
The display in front of the crew is multipurpose screen for control and navigation
of the craft. At the time it is displaying part of the planet.
There isn't much room for picking up lifeforms, but perhaps they have a shrink ray
to encapsulate them. :D
Of course rabbits make good pilots with their wide field of view and foxes are good
navigators as they never get lost. :)
Glad you all enjoyed the drawing. I spent a fair amount of time on it.
Thanks again.
Old Rabbit :orbunny:

I was so distracted I didn't notice the halloween and the spaceship ones!! They are so fun and quirky! <3 I absolutely adore them!
ONTO ADVENTURES!!

Thank you Serra for the nice comments. Glad you like my drawings.
Hope to have more art soon..
Old Rabbit :orbunny:

Something different once again.
I had a request by Hiiro to do a dragon a while back. So I decided to
try it even though I don't draw them often. Even put him on a
mountain top. :orbunny:
Hope you all enjoy looking at it. The long tail was part of the
request.

Wow! That is really great for not drawing dragons often!
-
Thanks for the kind comments Arbutus. I felt it turned out well
myself. Glad you thought so too.
Wouldn't get too close, he might consider us rabbits as lunch. :D
-
On the lighter side I drew a bunny with powers beyond all other bunnies. :orbunny:
Hope you all enjoy it.

Old Rabbit :orbunny:
-
Ooooh, what kind of powers?
..What kind of powers do bunnies have by default :o?
-
Hi Shim..
Thanks for the comments.
Well by default bunnies have the power to be cute and lovable.
The Super Bunny can leap over high objects in a single bound.
and defend the innocent as all super heroes can.
Old Rabbit :orbunny:
-
Hehe, well, all bunnies can leap over high objects in a single bound. Just watch this for proof! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptyKSiRyQ4Y) :D But Super Bunny can leap over buildings. :o
Another one of bunnies' default powers is that they can make carrots disappear!
-

Thanks for the comments Arbutus and the link too..
Now that shows what a default bunny can do. :orbunny:
Looks like the trainer talks to the bunny prior to doing the jump.
So we know a super bunny can leap tall buidings in a single bound.. And use his
powers to kick his enemies into orbit. :D
-
This drawing I did for one of our members Onyx Storm.. He requested
a wolf character.. I haven't much experience with drawing wolves, and I
am sure it shows..It's a interesting animal to draw, so I may try another...

The details like the lightening streak were part of the request.

nice work as always :)

So many pretty things <3
I particularly enjoy the strokes in which you painted the trees in the last one, and the nice look of the anklets the canine is wearing.
-
Ah yes, I remember seeing someone using that picture as their avatar ^^ *doesn't' remember off hand who it was though >.< recent avatar changes always confuse me XD*
-
^look no further I have appeared, anyways Thanks again for the Avatar!

Thanks for the comments Minokyoko, Serra Belvoule, Avan, and Onyx Storm.

Happy Holidays to every fur. I drew this a few years back ,but
it fits the season well.. Two little bears exchanging gifts. :orbunny:

holiday season.

Yay! I'm so glad to see some holiday art! I wonder what they got each other? I think the boy's going to get some chocolate, but I can't guess what the girl bear will receive...
-
Thanks for the comments Sskessa.. Why he has a jar of honey for his
sweetie, and yes she has some chocolates for him. :orbunny:
I thought it would be nice to post a bit of holiday art.
-
Heh sweet, happy holidays for you too!
-
Thanks for the comments and holiday wishes Serra.
Best wishes to you, and yours. :orbunny:
-
For those who wondered about my holiday signature gif. It's just 3 frames and
only 21k.. I have little animation experience so it was more for fun than any
thing else.
Hope it brings a little holiday cheer.
Happy Holidays to all..
Old Rabbit :orbunny:

It's a pretty darn nice image, if you pardon the word. It's brilliant! Sharp, simple, clean and overall heartwarming! A small cushion for the heart :3
-
Thanks Serra for the comments. I did the banner in a couple days. If
I had more time I would have tried to improve it. Perhaps I will
make another for next year. :orbunny:
Hopefully it gave a smile to many.
Old Rabbit :orbunny:
-
OR, your recent pictures have made me smile, especially the one for Onyx Storm. To me, that one is really beautiful :)

Thank you Alexandre for the nice comments. I am glad you really
liked the one I did for Onyx.. I don't often do scenic backgrounds.
I am glad you found a smile in my recent drawings as well.

I had another chance to draw a wolf character.. Onyx Storm
wanted a anthro version for a avatar.. Since I had a
little extra time I drew one for him..

Thanks Arbutus. Glad you lilked it.. I am still working to improve
the fur look for my drawings, along with shading. Black is kind of
difficult for me. Easy to over do it. :orbunny:

I was playing around with a bunny drawing and came up with
a little guy that one could call a Tough Bunny.. Heh.. You
just know he wouldn't want to be called cute.. :D

Well I finally got around to making another drawing of the fox and rabbit.
The rabbit crawled up the inside of a hollow tree to escape the fox.. Course the
fox is upset cause he wanted to catch him and now can only watch as the
rabbit waves looking down with a grin..

Hope you all get a smile out of it.

Onyx's colors reminded me of Mazz... I dunno why.
The fox and rabbit are hilarious <3 will this be the last of the series?
-
Hi Serra..
I imagine this will be.. Unless I think of something else to add..
Of course I am open to suggestions on the fox an rabbit.. :D
Thanks again for your comments on this and the other drawings too.
Only thing it might be is Mazz has bleck fur too.

She's a real cutie! Reminds me of a cousin of mine.
Your pics make me want to run out and get one of those Bamboo pads for my computer...
-
This is one of my favorites of yours lately! Maybe it's the body type, but this one seems like the most realistic of the bunch. I like it. :)
-
More nice work O.R. Thank you! :) The bunny girl in the flower patch is a much needed touch of spring on a cold winter day. :D
-
Thanks for the nice comments MWBrantley, Arbutus, and Sk.Skunk.
Once you get used to a tablet they are easy to use. Glad you liked the
drawing and my other art MWBrantley..
I like the basic Bamboo tablet I got. As good as
any I have had. It's a nice tablet for the price.
Glad you like her Arbutus. I tried to make her look nice with a natural pose..
I am pretty happy how the picture turned out.
I have a skunk on my to do list.. I am glad you liked this and my other
art Sk Skunk..
Thanks again everyone.

Hi
I finally did get around to a skunk girl character.. With all the
snow and cold I decided to have her playing ball on a beach.
I am sure many of us would enjoy a nice day at the beach now. :orbunny:

Hope you enjoy the drawing even though I didn't add a seashore. :D

I think she's found a weak spot for the serve to hit. :) Another nice picture Mr Rabbit.
As a skunk, I do have one thing that sort of troubles me. Skunks are plantigrade, so the feets look a bit off. Now if she's of mixed heritage, or standing on her toes, I'd offer her my sincerest apology. :-[ Looks like she could put the smack down on me if insulted! :D
-
Thank you for the nice comments Sk Skunk . I thank you for the
input about skunks being plantigrade. It's always good to learn things like
that. I always try to draw animal characters with their natural characteristics.
Unless it's purely a silly toon, then anything goes of course. :D
Perhaps we can say she is just a girl that's on her toes. :orbunny:
Thanks again.

I haven't been around this section in a while. OR your art is always so cool! :D I've been curious though, Your pictures always remind me of the way my mother used crayons to color, they always seem to have an almost velvet texture to them. How do you acheive this effect? Do you do all your art digitally or do you draw it out first and then scan?

Thanks much for the nice comments Kalo. :orbunny:
Due to vision problems I do all my art digitally from sketch to finish. I use
the smudge, burn and dodge tools to blend the colors for highlights
and shading.
This does give it a soft texture.

Incredible work, and great level of detail. :)
Do you mind if I ask how long it took to make? (:
-
Thank you PupLilith17 I am glad you enjoyed this drawing and all my art.
Thank you too Stormfox. I am glad you liked the artwork as well. I have
been pleasantly surprised by all the very nice comments I have gotten.
To be honest when I started the drawing I didn't really plan to do this
level of detail. But it kind of grew on me, and I decided to draw it the
best I could.
Time wise it's hard to say as I worked on a few other drawings at
the same time. It was in work around a month or so, but probably
about a week squeezing the work all together.
I usually put drawings aside, and work on them now and then
especially if I am trying to do a nice job. I find I do much better
that way.
Thanks again for the kind words.

I have enjoyed looking at all the work you have posted here, OR! I must say I can see your improvement on your work. And this last one? WOW! Much better viewing the larger image than just the avatar. :)
Very well done and very detailed! Love it! Keep up the great work!
I love the shading and the outfit. I can not for the life of me do clothing! LOL I have great respect for those that can. :)

Thanks for the kind comments Kalo. I appreciate it.
The first one was fashioned kinda after Minerva Mink. But I
should have spent a bit more time on it.
Of course the rabbit drawing was inspired by the one on Alice. :orbunny:
Thanks for your kind comments Kada_ru. I think I am getting a
little better as I go along. I have always liked putting clothes on
my characters so I guess over time I have learned how to make

As many of us know Watership Down is a favorite of Arbutus. So I decided
I would do a drawing that might fit that story, or perhaps the cartoon
version of it. So here is our favorite Rabbit crossing a river off to

Nice! So much like him to just grab a large plank and a stick and set out onto adventure. No bags packed, no jacket, no readied food for the trip. Our Arbutus is certainly brave to justt go gallavanting off like that. :D
I love the touch of the vines over the river, it reminds me of a lot of areas down here in the south.

I don't remember them.. But by the mid 60's I switched from comic books to

others as the opportunity arose..

A gif animation I have been playing with for a while.

Thank you also Katra. I was wanting to give the character more of a real
rabbit look and a background setting even though he is a bit handy with
his front paws. :D

Great animation! The soft colors and whatever brush you used makes it look like a moving painting. :D

That’s cool...
I like that hop back and catch move... very nice. :)

Man, that rabbit has some hardcore carrot-snatching moves! :D Nicely done!

Thanks Mylo I just used the brush tool in photoshop. Also the
smudge.. Glad you liked how it came out. :orbunny:
Thanks Storm Fox I thought that hop back and catch turned out well.
Glad you liked it also. :orbunny:
Thanks Arbutus. This is a rabbit that loves his carrots, and has
the moves to prove it. Even shakes his booty just as he finishes. :D
Glad you got a kick out of it. Probably won't do another rabbit drawing
before you leave, but hope you have a great time.

That's very cool! What animation program did you use?
Thank you Sheeta.. I appreciate your nice comments. :orbunny:
The software was Adobe Imageready 7 in conjunction with photoshop 7..
Works pretty well. If I remember right there are 35 frames using 96k overall
in the animation. I haven't much experience doing animation, but it was
fun to do.
I am glad you liked it.

:D LOL
I like the jump, and the "that's the way I do it" bunny tail shake :)
-
I love them all! Great work on the background of the 'watership down'. I still have problems with backgrounds.
Love the MLP with the dragon/bat wings! it is so adorable!
I really got a kick out of the animation! I have to agree, the jump back was great! Not expected that was for sure and the wiggle at the end gave me the giggles!
Yes, animations take a lot of time if not using an animation program. I did an animation in PSP X one time and it had over 300 layers just to create it!
-
Thank you Sk Skunk I am glad you got a laugh, and enjoyed the
animation. I still get a snicker ouf of the bunny booty shake when
I watch it. :D
Thank you Kada_Ru I always appreciate your comments as a artist. Glad
you liked the river crossing by Arbutus. I do enjoy doing backgrounds when
I have time. In this case I felt it helped the drawing.
Also I am glad you enjoyed the animation. As you say animation can be
rather daunting, but I managed to keep this one short and still entertaining.
And the booty shake is funny to watch. A tail shake and down his burrow
before we can catch him. :D

Well done with the drawing! I love how you make the fur so soft-looking.

I love the background you did, it seems to go on for miles and the reflections in the water are amazing. Did you use a program for that or draw it free hand?
-
Thank you for the nice comments Kalo.. I did it all freehand, no mirror effect for
the water reflection. Just a electronic drawing tablet with photoshop for a art
program.
I was surprised how much the water reflections added to the picture. Glad you
liked it too.

Hi again.
With the Bronies taking over the net so to speak I
decided to draw Pinky Pie. She is a cute fun loving

So many images are drawn with them standing viewed from

Here I have her playing with a hulahoop. I am sure she would
love to have one.

Old Rabbit :orbunny:
Oh man Old Rabbit! This is so cool! You should send it into EQD for the Drawfriend post. :)
Also I'm pleasedto seee your skill at ponies is improving rapidly. :o
I'm of course now obligated by the brony community to encourage you to darw to draw other ponies. Luna is best pony. Like Rainbow Dash, the ever popular Fluttershy and one of my favorites, AppleJack. I bet you'd be good with A.J. too given your ability to do country style backgrounds and her being a country pony. :)
This is a really good drawing, I'm a tad bit put off by the eyes though but only because they aren't an exact match to the show, but thats just being nit-picky and not true critisism. :-[
However I do notice that her right front forehoof seems a bit too long. Maybe its just perspective playing with my eyes. Also it looks to me like she might have one too many joints in that leg as well. But I'm no expert on pony anatomy.
Still though this is a really well done drawing. :)
-
Thanks for the comments Kalo.. I haven't drawn equines all that
much so I will check to be sure on the anatomy. If needed
I will modifiy the drawing.
I have noticed in the show the leg anatomy shown varies.
Some times they show the hoof shape well and other times not.
I have noticed a lot of artists tend to draw the legs without much
detail. It's ok as it's up to each artist on how they like it to look.
Thanks again.
Old Rabbit :orbunny:
-

Old Rabbit :orbunny:
Exactly, which is why I tried to avoid being nit-picky. Every artist has his or her own unique style and if everyone tried to draw like everyone else we'd see no diversity in art. And that thought makes me sad. :'(
-
Yes art would get pretty boring if every artist drew in the same
style.
I will try to improve those big eyes when I do another. I kind of
wonder how many times they drew them before they decided on
that eye style. They kind of grow on a person though.
Thanks again Kalo.

First, love all your work! *giggles* Sent you some comments on them. As you and others have posted they are only comments on what 'I' might do. Not necessarily what you should/need to do with your own work.
What are Bronies?
-
What are Bronies?
Bronies are folks, mostly males though the term is actually gender neutral, who enjoy My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. An excellent cartoon with superb animation and voice work that is the lateest creation of Lauren Faust, the genius behind Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends and The Powerpuff Girls.
You should check it out Kada, you might enjoy it a lot. :) There's a blue Pegasus. ;)
-
Here is a drawing I did for Kobuk. He is standing near the

Alsek, you're in Dorm # 478.
Kaloyan, you're on staff level 2B.

Don't be too hasty
Awesome picture OR, I love how the background looks. It almost gives the picture a feeling that this area is secretive and hidden away.

@Old Rabbit
Looks good, nice background too,
Mind if I ask how you always make the backgrounds look like they're painted in oils?
(it‘s such a unique style.)

@Kobuk
What’s all this about a dorm room, as many years as I’ve been here this is the first I’ve heard of it,
Who has been conspiring to keep this from me? Who I say, who? (:
-
Thank you for the nice comments Kalo. I am glad you
liked the background. Giving a hill and valley look turned
out pretty well.
Thank you for the nice comments too Storm Fox.
Glad you liked the background too.. I use Photoshop's
smudge tool a lot when I draw to blend and shade.
Could be that helps give it a oil painted look..
Thanks again.

I'm not too familiar with the smudge tool, (don't use it very often),
I thought maybe you were using the liquify filter…
Thanks for the info. :)

Intersting. I like her overall design. The way you outlined the black dress with white so it didn't just blend into her fur is nice touch.
The effect in the middle of the flag does a nice job of making it look as though its moving, or ccould move if you watch it long enough.
-
She's pretty! :) I like her design.
-
Thank you for the nice comments Kalo. Glad you liked it. I really liked
the idea of the blue hair which was suggested by the person who requested it.

Love all your work, OR!
I really like how you make your trees in the image you did for Kobuk. :) We do have a description some where on my hd of what Furtopia looks like inside. Never got around to describing the outside. LOL Nice to see an actual entrance! :)
I love your black kitty with the blue hair. Very well done. Black is hard to work with and I think you got it down!
Your holiday card brought a bright smile to my lips! Very pretty and enticing. Another very well done piece of work, OR!
*sneaks in and hides behind the tree enjoying the excitement of the young ones opening their presents*

I am reposting my bunny holiday card here for ease of finding it.

Thank you Soulneko. I appreciate your nice comments, and glad you
enjoy my work.
Thank you Kada-ru I always appreciate your comments on my art. Coming from
a fine artist like yourself means alot.
Black is difficult to make look good. But difficult things are good to work on. I
enjoy doing backgrounds when I have time. It always makes for a nicer drawing.
I am glad the holiday drawing brought a smile. I enjoy drawing cute characters,
especially the smaller furry characters.
Thanks again to both of you, and hope you all have a nice holiday season.

That's a great idea! I'll see what I can do. :)
Well, considering all the 'home' links go to the forums I will have to ask WS about it. :( I would love to see the members art up there again as well.

Thank you Soulneko for the nice comment. Glad you liked the drawing.
Thank you Kalo for your comment too. I felt she turned out rather cute.
Thank you Kada-ru for your comment as well. Glad you liked the drawing

I talked to WS about a front page to feature member artists works and he said he will work on something that the admins can change. Update coming soon, well, after the Christmas holidays anyway. LOL
Smart idea Kobuk!
I or one know an artist right now that will have their artwork posted on the main page!

Thanks for checking into that Kada-ru.

I think it might be due to the ear rings but this largely reminds me of the fortune teller sequence from Disneys Robin Hood.

As it turns out I was watching disney's robin hood when
I got the idea. :D I liked the scene well enough to do one of
my own with a raccoon.
Thanks for your comments Kalo. :orbunny:

she grows to a good sized Pegasus.

Knowing others liked it makes the work worthwhile. Ok on the clothing, I have
always liked drawing clothes on my characters.
Thank you Shim for your comments as well. Glad you feel the proportions look
well too.. I enjoy drawing more realistic characters now and then.

Thank you very much Onion. Perhaps it's due to me growing up in the 1950's where most
comic and toon characters I saw, and loved were from the 30's and 40's..
A time when the the movie makers were willing to spend the money for quality cartoons. By
the late 50's they wanted them made as cheap as possible.
Thanks again.

I find your art interesting because the style is very distinct from what we see in most major animation and illustration today. Sharp lines seem to be the style of choice lately, but the soft edges of your work give it an older, perhaps "classic" feel. I am reminded of some of my childhood storybooks when I look at these pieces. And it's not that I'm saying the lines are sloppy, either--when I look at these pieces I can tell that there was thought put into each stroke. Even if I don't comment on each piece, Old Rabbit, I do find them interesting and look forward to more.

Beatrix Potter comes to mind :).

Thank you Landrav. I appreciate your comments very much.
I personally never cared much for hard outlines on my drawings or cartoons.
I suppose most professional cartoons are done that way because the animators,
and character artists draw them in lines, and let others do the coloring.
It is a good style for most cartoons, and fine for those who like it. But it the
characters seem more natural to me without the hard edge lines..
Your right Shim, Beatrix Potter's artwork has soft edges too. :orbunny:
Usually artists that do artwork for books do the whole work color and
all. More like a painting instead of a nice line art cartoon..

Well it seems I have stumbled upon a treasure trove of sorts. I must say dear sir, I am greatly impressed by your styling and while skimming comments I do certainly agree that your work has that classic storybook feel.
Something you would find tucked away in a little bookshop with a roughly bound leather cover, filled with yellowing pages and near endless adventure and fantasy - a world of dreams softly brought to life through the simple strokes of a masterful touch, wordless in its epic; a story born only from the dreams and inspiration each who takes the time to sift through its pages are granted.
You are given a true gift in the talent you have crafted for some twenty odd years as you said previously; I am honored to have stumbled upon here, and in a way humbled by the simple majesty of your work sir.
-
Thank you very much for all your kind words Cirocco ..
I enjoy drawing in the older storybook style. I suppose
it's due to my age. I grew up in the 50's, and enjoyed
the storybook pictures in the books I read. I plan to
continue posting more of this style as I have time.
Thanks again.

I have been trying to improve my shading. I am glad

I did with pencil or charcoal.

to fit the magical theme of the drawing best.
It likely would make a nice design for a button or card now
that you mention it.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Hi..
I like to try a gif animation now and then. I felt Shim's fursona would
work well for it, so I did his character juggling 3 balls. As
we know kitties like to play.

Hope you all enjoy watching.
In case anyone is wondering it was done with 10 frames.

Thank you for the nice comment Arlesey . Glad you enjoyed the

Thank you Jet for the comments and question. Well I often thought
I would enjoy drawing for childrens books, but never did. I might
attempt writing and illustrating one sometime.
One thing about the internet anyone can publish their own work. Ebooks

Just a hobby for now.. Glad you enjoyed the artwork. :orbunny:

Something a little different. A pack of running feral wolves.
I don't often draw feral animals, but after seeing a few

to draw them. Hope you enjoy the picture.

It's ok Mazz, I didn't think I would have anything drawn this quick.
I am very glad you loved the picture. I don't normally draw bird characters. Wings
are a challenge unless one does them all the time. I am glad you liked the way
they came out.

Cool 8). Looks like he knows how to use that club of his.
My tough turtle superheroine would probably like to hang out with him.

This turtle was originally made to be a design for a game. In the
game he was supposed to be a tough character. So he probably
would be a good match for your tough turtle heroine.

I guess I might have too I used to draw all the time then well school hit me in the face and im kinda rusty will have taken get back in the groove
I used to draw when I was a youngster in school. Then lost interest till years later. Drawing
is a way to create a world of your own, be it fantasy or real. Feel free to start a thread of
your own to post any of your furry art you wish to show. :orbunny:

Might have to been years tho but I suposethe skill never truly leaves

I started this drawing a while back. I am having a little trouble with color due
to vision problems, but hope it turned out well enough.
It's a drawing of a mother rabbit who is proud of her little girl for getting an "A" on a

I used to love the spelling tests when I was real young, I always used to do great, they had to order more reading practice books because I'd read them all so fast, my grandad read to me a lot though which probably helped haha!
Reading to children is important, and your drawing kind of brought back memories there. Your work really reminds me a lot of the illustrations of Peter Rabbit, that's one of the books my grandad used to read to me in bed!
I'm very glad to see that you are still drawing, it still looks good to me too! ^-^
-
Thank you Jackie for the nice comments on my drawing. :orbunny:
Yes, spelling tests are common for young people in the first years of
school.. I was actually a good reader and speller since my parents
read to me on a regular basis before I entered school. This gave me
a interest in reading I might not have had otherwise.
-
It's the holidays and I thought I would post an old holiday drawing I did several years

I went to your website and saw a lot of your samples of work, and I'm amazed. What are you using for the textures...it almost looks like chalk or a thick paint. I see the pictures are at least 15 years old, but I will ask how long have you been drawing for?
Something else, anything linked here isn't showing up for me. Even your avatar doesn't show up for me. Different internet connections, different browsers. I really wanted to see your latest Zootopia picture.

Thanks for your kind words about my work.. Due to vision problems I use a digital
drawing pad with paint software. I can see the computer monitor much better than
I can text or graphics on paper. I did the pencil sketches as early as 1990. Then I could
see to do drawings on paper.
Hopefully my oldrabbit.org site will be back up soon. It has most all of the art I have
posted on furtopia. I uploaded my avatar to the furtopia server so it would show.
If your interested I can PM some of my later art to you in the meantime.
I will see if I can PM the Zootopia drawing to you in a day or so.

Thanks for the nice comments. I have a coloring book section on my .com
website. I was updating the site, but when Google changed their formula
for posting sites and my site dropped from first page showing to 20th I
didn't figure there was much point in worrying about it. Especially since
Google started charging to be on page one of a search. Even page 2 is like
being in the sticks on a search engine.
I may post more of the drawings made for coloring here soon. Thanks
again. I have always enjoyed drawing cute animal characters.
-

Agreed! Is there any hope for your vision improving again?

Thanks for the comments. :orbunny:
I am afraid not. It's all down hill from here. I still have some
good days where I probably could draw. But colors are not
doing too well. Some days the world has a red haze. Other
days a yellow haze, and sometimes a white haze. Not counting
the days it's a orange haze. This haze destroys contrast, so
details are hard to see.
I have my computer set with a black background high
contrast. Even then the black screen looks grey most of
the time. Over the last few months there are days when
everything I see is jittering a little. That certinly makes
it difficult to draw.
I will be here as long as I can see well enough to read
white print on a black screen. I still have a few drawings
I can post that I made over the years.

Thanks for the comments Varg. Yes badgers don't smell
much better than skunks. It seemed like a cute setup
though.
