Yahoo blocking Furtopia mail
« on: October 09, 2008, 11:37:42 pm »
Just a heads up that Yahoo has started blocking Furtopia mail again (they did it once before a year and a half ago).  This means that any attempts to register with yahoo or get replies via e-mail will fail.

I'm looking into this now and hope they respond soon.

Well this answers my problem. Would it help if us Yahoo users started to e-mail them asking not to be black balled and that it's a legitimate site sending the emails?

Kinda funny though, when so much spam is created and sent using yahoo too.

Silly Yahoo... You'd think they could just do as Google does and let each user decide for themselves what is spam and what isn't. That service's lists pass through so much e-mail spam, it's incredible.

What I am seeing in the past couple days coming into my email is spam from admin2@furtopia.org so that may be part of the problem.  Someone is using our addy to spam every where!  Geesh, can't people just leave others alone? *shakes head*

I just got an email reply notice in my yahoo mail again. It was only one, but I'll let you know if I start seeing them show up regularly. Maybe progress is being made?

Benjamin fixed the problem, apparently our email server wasn't configured right and wasn't sending out any automated emails at all.

I fixed some settings in the e-mail server yesterday night.  Some sites were blocking us as spam.  We should now be getting our e-mails through to all services again.  Let me know if you still have a problem.

They don't work for anyone. As far as I last heard it is a known problem.

Maybe I'm getting this wrong and there are emails being sent out that I'm not seeing.

Edit: Removed the rest of this post because it was both large and un-needed.   (:

Actually that won't help at all. At least not for me and I expect the others too. I keep a spam folder so I can preview the spam list before I delete anything because, as you say, sometimes things get sent there that shouldn't. But Furtopia notices aren't coming in period. Spam or otherwise, unless something changed since I last checked the forums.

Now that i think about it,  I havn't gotten emails from furtopia recently,  but i also havn't had anything happen that would cause an email to be sent like a PM or anything of that nature.  Definatly have gotten the emails not all that long ago,  Though.

Might adding the sender to contacts help?   or are they just compleatly cut out?

I believe it's a problem with the email system server side. It's nothing to do with the email black lists.

As I mentioned before, WS is well aware of the situation. I have mentioned it to him multiple times already and he is doing his best to correct the issue. All we ask is for everyone to be patient. Thank You.

I'm curious to see if the e-mail is still an issue.  If you were having problems try and send yourself a PM and see if you get the notification?  I'm testing it here and it seems to be working ok now.

I'm getting them.  PMed myself and got one,  and i'm geting my subscriptions.  There are settings you can change that will cause furtopia to email you when you get a PM.  But it's posible to turn those off.  for those still not getting them,  could it be as simple as somthing like that?  (or the spamguard?)
