I have several issues. I know I uploaded several pictures to my art site here on furtopia and I don't see them in my gallery anymore. I also can't log in to re-add them. I can view my site just fine and everything, but some pictures aren't there that I know I added. Site url btw is http://www.foxwolfart.furtopia.org/

Hello. I'll admit I have no idea how things work, so consider me a very huge idiot about this sort of thing XD

I have been having a lot of problems trying to fix stuff around my site; I use filezilla FTP. I can enter my main directory, I can delete files and download them, yet I cannot upload anything. Seeing that the web uploader also doesn't work for me, I have no way of uploading my stuff into the server. Oh, and I can see everything there is, I just really can't upload anything.

Also, I'm sorry I didn't have time to read the whole post, but is there any way to organize my files by name? Because I have a webcomic and the pages are all jumbled so it's hard for the readers to find the next page.
If not, is there any specially way the files show up in the directories, or it's really only random?

I'm thinking that these upgrades taking longer to do than expected may have resulted in hosting applications being delayed? (The main page had july 5th as the end date for some sort of service/upgrade, and then it disappeared, so I assumed I was good when I submitted my application, but then I never got a responce for... months (I even sent emails to the admin2 email address, but I never got any response. Then I started poking around here)

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Vilani I checked into your issue. When we migrated servers all web accounts were hard set to 150MB web space which is why it wasn't allowing uploads. I checked over your site and approved it for 3GB. Let me know if you still have problems.

As for the sorting I'm looking into that now. I'll try and have something in the next few days. If now I'll recode the indexer to do the sorting for us.

I've been working day and night programing new software. Right now I'm programming applications and they should be back on-line any day.

For a few users you may have problems uploading to your web site. Due to some members trying to use their web sites to store large volumes of commercial mp3s/etc we have enabled the upload limits of 150MB per site. However: If ANY artist needs more than 150MB and the extra space will be used for YOUR art/writing/music send me a PM and I will promptly increase your limit to as much as you need.

Heya ^_^ Yeah i have a few problems i'm missing alot of files and i can't seem to be able to connect to any of the FTP software aswell i click upload and i get permission denied. And i can't connect with regular FTP either ^_^ O.o so yeah i'm using IE7 and the application in the gallery doesn't work right with IE7 either i can't click on the pics to get the full size. ... works with Firefox O.o I dunno about IE8. And it doesn't order alphabetically anymore. But i'd like it to order from recent to older instead. But thats just a suggestion. ^_^

Ok finished writing the Furtopia account software. We have processed all pending applications. If you sent in an application and it did not get an acceptance e-mail send me a PM.

Matoc: Due to changes in the way things work the web ftp will be replaced with the new "User Control Panel" we've been working on. In the mean time you can use an FTP program. I've tested your ftp and it works. I was able to upload/download. We have a program called "FileZilla" that is fast and very easy to use. Set it for passive mode and give it a try. You can find it here: http://www.furtopia.org/tools/filezilla_2_1_5_setup.exe

As far as image files from what I could tell it seemed many errors were from the called case of a file. For example a thumbnail would call: A link would call for Myfile.jpg when the real file was named myfile.jpg . I found a few files in a backup and restored them just in case. But it was not many.

Another suggestion for you and others is for ease of use you can customize the Furtopia gallery (indexer). Here is the difference. A gallery makes it easy to upload artwork but your stuck with the galleries format. A web page lets you show your full creativity and custom everything. But it can take time to add your artwork. Furtopia can give you both. The Furtopia gallery auto thumbnails any directory that does not have a "index.*" web page. The Furtopia gallery will also REPLACE the default Furtopia header/footer with one you chose if you place a "header.html" and/or a "footer.html" in a "css" folder where you have your art. This lets you replace the Furtopia gallery theme with your own! Example (uses a "css/header.html" but no footer): http://www.kcff.net/paint-shop-pro/teachme2tag/1_early-beginners/

Matoc: If you still have problems restoring your site let me know and I will work at fixing it myself.

It seems the gallery works with Firefox, IE 6 & 8. I do not have 7. Can someone else confirm 7 does not work with the gallery? If you want to remote link to your original images use the link named: "original file" that is under every thumbnail.

Well i downloaded your program and it seems it still doesn't let me connect to FTP ...the message i get disconnect from server and unable to connect. I verified my firewall and all and its all set to let the program through O.o the port i'm using is default 21 which should work. And i have set it to passive mode aswell O.o i use "matoc.furtopia.org" in the address feild and my login and pass i entered correctly for sure. ^_^ So yeah ...not all my files are back either alot of em are though. ^_^ I wonder if i might have reached my space limit and thats how you keep someone from uploading more.

Well anyway the history of recent trouble with FTP i've had in uploading here was strange lately .... like 2 months ago i could connect anymore to the non web ftp cauz it said my password was not right when it couldn't have been changed ...then later it worked again ... but i had started enjoying the webftp so i still kept using the webftp ...now the webftp started denying me permission to access then i went back to regular ftp and it didn't work anymore and that was timed with your upgrades.

I use to organize by naming files certain things so I need to figure out how to get things to be together when they're related. D:

I have no web design smarts so no way I'd be able to do it myself.

I'm taking you mean on the development end. All you need to do is have a directory something like:

<root directory not shown>/images/gallery1
<root directory not shown>/images/gallery2
<root directory not shown>/images/gallery3
<root directory not shown>/images/gallery4

and then just link them like normal...

I hope that answers your question.

I've hoping that this problem I have might be related to the server upgrade and that it would pass, but it seems it won't go away. I've been trying to use the "Artist Upload" option to upload my latest work and update my page, but for some reason I keep getting this:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /login on this server.

Anybody know how I can fix this? I know my website and account are still active and working last time I checked. Thanks for any help!

MatoC: I was able to log into your account. I sent you a PM with some details to check.

Avan: Is your ftp client set to "passive mode" (solves problem with some users router/firewall settings)? If your connection is still intermittent do you have the same connection problem connecting direct to the IPs: 24.123.192.158 and 24.123.192.170?

Mazz: I believe it orders from last uploaded to the server. What I will need to do is reprogram the Indexer to alphabetise the image listings itself. It's a little more involved coding so give me 48 hrs to finish the programming and it should sort alphabetical.

Strikersa: Our old web ftp software is not directly compatible. However do to it's simplicity and popularity I will be working on recoding it tonight to see if we can get it working again. I also recommend trying FileZilla (an FTP client) out: http://www.furtopia.org/tools/filezilla_2_1_5_setup.exe It is easy to use and a lot faster than a web client.

Took longer than I planned and a lot of work. But I've started the sorting code (will still be adjusting it a bit longer). Sorting is alphabetical with capitals coming before lower case. The Furtopia gallery indexer will sort based on name (default sorting method), time (from when it was uploaded to the server) or by file size.

You can manually set sorting method by adding a file named:

sortname
sortsize
sorttime

to your individual css folders. You can also add the files

msortname
msortsize
msortname

to your root css folder to set sorting for your whole site. You can find other "switch files" for the indexer here: http://www.furtopia.org/indexer

***Added:

The alphabetical sorting of the indexer is finished. I also got the add description="add desc" link working. Next order of business will be the web based FTP. I will also be making some functional and cosmetic improvements to the indexer in the coming days

If anyone has any issues or requests with your service please let me know. Once things are functional for our users I will start working on the Control Panel.

Well I deleted a lib that the server needed. The option was to run apt-get to restore to get it back. But the restore needed the lib too. :~( So I scrambled for a bit till I recovered it off a CD backup.

Moved the forums to the new server. I need to install the spell checker into the chroot (working on that).

On the positive size I am testing using compression. So let me know if site loading (mainly web sites) loads any faster or slower.

I'm running into a couple odd problems. First of all, I can't seem to delete some of my folders in my mrinitialman account (in particular, phpmya and my library). I'm doing a complete site upgrade which disnecessitates (sp?) the former and recreates the latter. And now, I cannot see any of my files or folders at all in my FTP program (I use FireFTP).

Oddly, I can see everything in the Coach Random account.

having a minor issue with my gallery not accepting new pics when i try uploading. It just wants to cycle through the "Select an Image File!" Been having to manually ftp stuff into the directories and check for new images to force them in. x.o

Already tried upgrading it to the newest version and tried chmodding the folders/files since the servers OS's changed but neither's helped. Asked on the 4images site and they said it had to do with a php.ini's upload_tmp_dir not having a valid path.
