Wild Knights Gulkeeva
« on: September 17, 2011, 03:13:21 pm »
I've mentioned this series months or years before on Furtopia, but now that we have a proper Anime community, I can finally talk about this show in-depth. :)

.
The first link above gives a little info. about the story. The series was made by Sunrise and premiered in Japan in 1995. It was never distributed or released in the U.S. :( Fortuneately, I have all 26 episodes in a boxed set.........which was incredibly hard to find/get. :)

.
I don't remember how I learned of this show, but I know I definately wanted it due to the anthro characters in the series, Four of which are the following:

Greyfass, an anthro wolf warrior. (Correct spelling of name is unknown. Many variations exist.)

In his feral fighting form:

.
Beakwood, an anthro eagle.

.
Gariel, an anthro gorilla.
Artist rendering:

.
Didium, an anthro bear. (Unsure of correct spelling of name.) This character does not appear till much later in the series.
http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQeWo5_K8k_XocXRZIKmxUDIUigpgAaLHaECUFdAX4LhG1SLnE
.
These four animal warriors help a human (Toya) to defend the Earth from an army known as Darknoids who want to interdimensionaly swap their planet with that of Earth since the planet where the beast warriors and Darknoids come from is dying (I think?).

Anyway, the series is 26 episodes long. There are English subtitles, but they are only maybe 70% accurate.  :( Still, I found the series to be quite enjoyable and it does have a good dose of comedy in it too, especially from the Gariel gorilla character.

I found this anime some months ago and i like it a lot, good to find someone who likes it too, it is really interesting and i like how you describe it, it is not well know, i had trouble finding any information about it,  but it is good, with interesting plot and complex characters, i like it.

I must ask you thought , you mentioned that you had all 26 episodes in a boxed set, i was looking for something like that for some time now but it seems like it never had any merchandise released, at least not in this part of the world like you said, i knew it was incredibly hard for you to find it, but, can you tell me where did you find it?, i like this anime too and i woud like to have a  set too, i would really apreciate it if you could help me, thanks.

I didn't buy the boxed set that I currently have. My best friend got it for me as "payment" for me building a model kit for him. I do not remember where my best friend bought the boxed set on the Internet. Sorry.

If you do try to find a place on the Net that sells a boxed set, then be carefull. I've seen a few sites that are broken and have bad links, or you have to pay very close attention to the shipping and payment options, or I've seen where only the boxed set has only 1-2 discs when there really should be three.

Yeah, i know its not easy to find and some sites are not trustworthy, thats why i asked to you where did you find it, because you even posted pictures of the set you had, so i knew you bought a  good quality one, i found some sets on ebay but i wanted to ask about yours cause it is a little bit different on the cover than the other ones i have seen.

I wish I had more info. to give you, but sadly, I don't. :( I really don't know where my best friend got the boxed set from. The only other option I can give is to join some other anime forums on the Net and see what other information and resources people can find.

Thanks, i actually was on that site  a few minutes ago, im gonna try there, thanks for helping me, but i just want to ask one more thing,  does the box set you have contains anything more than the episodes themselves?, im not sure if im getting this set soon due to me being from mexico, so it may have shipping issues, and it can wait, if nothing else is included, then i will keep my search  with calm since the episodes are on the internet (i just want a box set so i can watch this show anytime right on my tv, and have some merchandise from this series since thats all i have found, i havent even found any info on the creator or artists of the anime so i can search for his other creations).

Thanks a lot for helping me kobuk!, i dunno how i can pay you the fact that you took the time to help me, i really apreciatte it, the least i can do is introduce myself in the Greeting forum.

There's nothing else that I am aware of that comes with the boxed set that I have. What you see in all the links in posts above is exactly as the boxed set appears. The only reason I wanted a complete boxed set is because I hate watching or downloading stuff on the Internet.  >:(

Also, if you have trouble on Google finding a boxed set with the English title of "Wild Knights Gulkeeva", then try searching using the original Japanese title instead which is "Juu Senshi Garukiba".

Thanks Kobuk, i`ll check it out!. =3

On a side note, since this is a thread about the anime itself, may i ask you what do you think of the show?.  the least i can do for all your help is listen to you own opinion of the anime, and i dont know many people who have seen it since it`s very obscure, so seeing another opinion is always interesting.

I haven't watched the anime in a long time (2-3 years?) since my best friend got it for me. It starts off slow in Episode 1, and the story/plot is kinda revealed a little bit in Episode 2, but not fully. The English subtitle translations are only about 70% accurate.  :( I wish more beast warriors were shown in the series, but only the 4 I mentioned in my original thread post are shown. The only major character I didn't like was the evil Prince (or Princess?) character who was in charge of the Darknoid army. The character voice sounded like a guy, but the character looked like it was drawn like a girl.  :o You can also expect lots of comedy from the Gariel gorilla character.
