Condiments, sauces, spices, etc.
« on: February 11, 2013, 07:46:44 pm »
Do you have a favorite condiment, spice, sauce, or other garnish, etc.? Do you ever put a lot of that particular item on a favorite food?

For example:
I like a lot of pepper on my mashed potatos.
I put a lot of sour cream on a baked potato.
I am a BBQ sauce fanatic! Chicken, Pork chops, etc.
I like tabasco sauce in my scrambled eggs, chili, as well as a few other foods.
Lots of maple syrup over pancakes or waffles.
And I'll always find some way to have shredded cheddar cheese on a food item. I am a BIG shredded cheese lover! :)

My rule:

If it can't be paired with barbecue sauce, you can put peanut butter on it. Some things might be able to accept both, though not at the same time.

Oh man, that would be kinda gross putting BBQ sauce and Peanut Butter together. Anyway...BBQ is awesome. Honey mustard will go well with chicken tenders. Ketchup with fries of course. Who can forget soy sauce for rice or duck sauce for egg rolls? That went rather smooth.  :D

I love Hot sauces
tabasco is the man one for egg dishes and a jot  on  Japanese curry.  I also Like to use mexican Hot sauces like Tapatio or Buffalo  Chipotle sauce.
If that not hot enough and if I can afford it  Dave's Insanity Sauce rated at 180,000  Scoville compared  to 2500-5000 for tabasco or Da Bomb Ground Zero with a Scoville rating of 234,000.

I like special homemade extra hot hot sauce, made from the Red Savina Pepper (which has an average Scoville rating of about 300,000) or as of recently with the Derset Naga Pepper (which has a Scoville rating of about 1,000,000). Just to but that in terms standard Tabasco red pepper sauce rates at only 2,500–5,000.

I put it in or on just about anything tho, pizza, chilli, taco's, etc. I love my hot sauce :3

We don't go as spicy as you guys do, but we like our hot sauce where it is. Just enough to melt your face off without causing the rest of you to spontaneously combust.  :D  We also like Heinz 57 sauce, but it only really goes with sandwiches for us.

I like feeling like a dragon, where if I so much as open my mouth after eating something spicy, that it feels like I'm shooting a beam of plasma :P

I recently discovered fresh nutmeg, and I'm finding that to be quite lovely.  I use it when I'm cooking sauces.

Chili Powder, sweet and spicy barbecue sauce, and rarely tabasco sauce. NEVER try to use wing sauce as a substitute for Tabasco sauce  :P

Which reminds me, I need to try that wing challenge at QS&L!

Surprised no ones said Ranch Dressing yet ... my brother eats that religiously ... on everything ...

For me it really depends on what I'm eating I don't really have a "Goes on everything" kind of condiment or sauce.... Closest thing to that for me would be my nuclear hot hot sauce made from Ghost Chili peppers which have a rating of over 1,000,000 on the SVU scale... I love my hot sauce :3
