Apollo 11 50th Anniversary
« on: July 16, 2019, 03:25:28 pm »
50 years ago today, Apollo 11 lifted off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on it's way to the moon. And 4 days later, American astronauts would land on the moon and take their first steps on another celestial body.

Weather permitting, we hope to stage a model rocket demonstration launch for local television stations on Saturday. I have several Saturn V replicas in the fleet.

We had a good turnout for Saturday's model rocket launch. A looming storm may have kept the TV crews at bay. Launched and recovered three different Saturn V models. Later, we attended an Apollo 11 presentation at a local planetarium.

The NAR is running a Saturn rocket theme photo contest. Winners get a one year membership in the NAR.
