Ah yes i know of the Antonov, amazing planes!
I must say that i once had the great experience of flying in the jumpseat of one of these great beasts.

Yes, having worked on heavy lift helicopters I am familiar with the competition. The MI-26 is an amazing aircraft.

When the Super Stallion was designed one of the key engineering requirements was to be able to lift itself. This was based on a mission requirement to recover downed aircraft. Because of that Sikorsky had to keep the weight down while increasing lift capablilities.

The Super Stallion can also aerial refuel, which greatly extends its operating range.

as for the russian craft P_V showed, you can tell russia likes things big. Surprised PV didnt mention the tupolev black jack.
