On the subject of weather I am glad I am out of texas because it seems that companies are taking remote control of texans thermostats and turning them up.
Because who needs air con in texas summer right?

All the more reason to reject having smart device enabled home features. It sounds nice remote controlling your AC and the lights in your house and all that other gadgety stuff but this incident is the best argument against that stuff and just keeping your home non digital.

DING! DING! DING! DING!
I saw that coming YEARS ago!   8)

Control tech, and use it as your master, not have tech as your master!
Because when tech controls you, someone who controls the tech controls you!

I received a good rain and cool off last night, thank God!

At first, Kay, I thought you were making this up. I thought: It couldn't be real, right? Until I stumbled across this video report: https://weather.com/news/weather/video/some-texans-thermostats-were-raised-remotely-during-a-heat-wave

Oh no Kobuk, this has been a long time coming, it is part of Smart City initiatives all around the world.  Sensors in everything.  Can be used to do many things, one ogf which is "power management".

I interviewed with TriState Generation (TriGen) in Colorado, they are a large electric commodities trader here.  I heard murmurings there of it.  Your electric meter can be turned off remotely also... so...just letting you know that.

My weather is steamy.  And I hate it.

Scattered showers on Saturday, heavy at times.

Had a stormy night here.  Rainy.  I like it.
Lightning hit a tree very near me, as I was outside.. got my heart moving.  I felt alive for once.

The heatwave has finally broke, the past couple days and nights have been cool and chilly and it's been wonderful.

Temps have been in the high 80/90's this week with high heat indexes making it feel like 105. Humidity has been around 50-60+%.
Just had major severe storms last night with heavy rains and damaging winds. Lots of power outages across southeast Wisconsin affecting somewhere between 100,000 to 200,000 customers. Power flickered slightly in my apt. building, but never fully went out. But all the apt. buildings around me have no power.......and still are without power as I'm writing this. Sucks to be them if they have ice cream in their fridge and it melts.  :D

Good news: I have power.
Bad news: My building has no hot water right now. :(

It as smoky as a BBQ pit here, and it is forest fire smoke.  Smells like burning garbage too.

It takes a lot of water to work with glass so the humidity is always higher where I work. And two large tempering ovens. So the humidity and temps are always 10 to 20% higher than it is outside. You know it's hot when you can come home to an air conditioner set at 80 and it feels cold. Temps are going to be in the low 90's again today. To get the idea of what it feels like where i work climb into a closed up car on a hot sunny day.
It's been said that rats can gain access to your home by climbing up threw your toilet. I prefer to use the front door.

Or a full body fur suit?  Once my legs are suited up, I'm sweating.  Once head is on, I have 2 hours when wearing cold vest.

Weather here is less smoky now, still hot.

I have to wear a heavy kevlar turtle neck sweater and full chaps. Along with two layers of gloves and heavy leather boots. Top it off with a hard hat. Don't know how much heat earl plugs hold in but they are in the mix too. Doesn't take long to become soaking wet.

Today it's going to be in the 90's and rain.

I think it reached 90 here. A thunderstorm rolled through this afternoon, lots of noise but little rain.
