*As you read this song.. think of it in a sad wistful voice. the words in () are sung by a set of 3 or 4 back-up singers softly almost with the same wistful tone.* I learned it from a Rat. No offence to any rodents out there.**

Skiping Stones

Stareing at water.
Looks like Glass.
A world of blue
is what I see.

smooth and flat
inside my hand
I just want to ride it
Cause I
Set it free

I'm standing.  (keep on keep on)
Oh skiping stones (skiping stones)
On a smooth blue pane of glass
Oh skiping stones (skiping stones)
Thue the water surrounds me...
The time for rings has past.

But all things change
As time goes by.
Moveing on to bigger seas
And not quite knowing why (knowing why)
The search for happyness
Looking for peace of mine.
Hopeing something more then stones is what we'll find.

I'm standing.  (keep on keep on)
Oh skiping stones (skiping stones)
On a smooth blue pane of glass
Oh skiping stones (skiping stones)
Thue the water surrounds me...
The time for rings has past.

Sometimes I stand and look at all that must be done.
It seems theres
just too much for anyone.
I try to think back
to that giant pane-like sea.
And how the rings would form
From a small flat rock and me.

I'm standing.  (keep on keep on)
Oh skiping stones (skiping stones)
On a smooth blue pain of glass
Oh skiping stones (skiping stones)
Thue the water surrounds me...
(water surrounds me, water surrounders me)
Oh.. the water surrounds me
(water surrounds me, water surrounds me)
Yeah the water surrounds me
The time for rings has...
Past.

Aww.. that's really pretty.  Time moves forward with all our decisions.  The past is always the clearest vision and it is the one we cannot change.

Hmm, wouldn't you say this is more of a poem, than a song?  Songs do tend to have some form of music to go with the words.  Anyway, the words you have wrote are nice.  I have an idea of what I think the music would be like for it - not really going by your description, though.  But the backing singers are a good idea.  I think rather than having them sing just the words in the brackets(), they could also harmonise the verses and bridges (if you could get the words to work for one) with 'ahhs' and 'oohs'.  But I digress from the material already produced.  It's good as a poem, though I'd say music is required in order for it to become a song.
DC2. etc...

*grins for first time in about a week*
Actually it is a song.. an existing one.
Those are the Lyrics for one of my favorite songs I lessoned to growing up.
Its actaully from the Ninga Turtles Live concert Tour.. back in who knows but at least maybe 10 years ago.
Its just that I kept singing that old song to myself yesterday and it really did wonders to calm me down after many misfourtions. So I figured I would share it and see if it would help anyone else who might be feeling a bit under the weather like I was.
Also to see if anyone noticed or liked it. Glad some furs did.

Since the topic is about a song that helps calm someone's nerves, here's one that always works for me:

Dolphins Cry

The way you're bathed in light
Reminds me of that night
God laid me down into your rose garden of trust
And I was swept away
With nothin' left to say
Some helpless fool
Yeah I was lost in a swoon of peace
You're all I need to find
So when the time is right
Come to me sweetly, come to me
Come to me

Love will lead us, alright
Love will lead us, she will lead us
Can you hear the dolphin's cry?
See the road rise up to meet us
It's in the air we breathe tonight
Love will lead us, she will lead us

Oh yeah, we meet again
It's like we never left
Time in between was just a dream
Did we leave this place?
This crazy fog surrounds me
You wrap your legs around me
All I can do to try and breathe
Let me breathe so that I
So we can go together!

Love will lead us, alright
Love will lead us, she will lead us
Can you hear the dolphin's cry?
See the road rise up to meet us
It's in the air we breathe tonight
Love will lead us, she will lead us

Life is like a shooting star
It don't matter who you are
If you only run for cover, it's just a waste of time
We are lost 'til we are found
This phoenix rises up from the ground
And all these wars are over

Over
Over
Singin' la da da, da da da
Over
Come to me
Singin' la da da da, da da da
Come to me

Love will lead us, alright
Love will lead us, she will lead us
Can you hear the dolphin's cry?
See the road rise up to meet us
It's in the air we breathe tonight
Love will lead us, she will lead us...

ok top 2 songs for calming my nerves (odd choices but they work) great guitar work on the second one.

Wild Wood  By Paul Weller

High tide, mid afternoon
People fly by, in the traffics boom
Knowing, just where you're blowing
Getting to where you should be going
Don't let them get you down
Making you feel guilty about
Golden rain, will bring you riches
All the good things you deserve now
Climbing, forever trying
Find your way out of the wild, wild wood
Now there's no justice
Only yourself that you can trust in
And I said high tide, mid afternoon
People fly by, in the traffics boom
Knowing, just where you're blowing
Getting to where you should be going
Day by day your world fades away
Waiting to feel all the dreams that say
Golden rain will bring you riches
All the good things you deserve now
And I say, climbing, forever trying
Find your way out of the wild, wild wood
Said you're gonna find your way out of the wild, wild wood
Wild wild wood

And Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley

I heard there was a secret chord
That david played and it pleased the lord
But you don't really care for music, do you
Well it goes like this the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah ....

Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah .... .

Baby i've been here before
I've seen this room and i've walked this floor
I used to live alone before i knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
But love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah ....

Well there was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me do you
But remember when i moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Well, maybe there's a god above
But all i've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you
It's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah
All I want too do is leave paw prints in the sands of time. (Garfield)
To be forgotten is worse than death (Freya)
We are all equal in the fandom. ( WhiteFang good fur and friend )

Very enjoyable songs you have all posted! They probably sound better with the music but the 'poetry' is very nice as is.

I'm not sure there is any particular song that sooths me. When I want to calm down it is usually the elevator type of music that helps me calm down.

Now, on the other hand, for working, the oldies is the only thing for me! It gets me going. Of course, now I also listen to some of WS's music and it gets me going as well, but some of his is like my oldies! (giggles)

I wish you out of the woods
and into the picture with me
I wish you over the moon
come out of the question and be

If this is going to
run round in my head
I might as well be dreaming
run round in my head

I rollercoaster for you
time out mind
must be heavenly
it’s all enchanted and wild
just like my heart said
’twas was going to be

If this is going to
run round in my head
I might as well be dreaming
run round in my head

If this is going to
run round in my head
I might as well be dreaming
run round in my head

I wish you out of the woods
and into the picture with me
I wish you over the moon
come out of the question and be

If this is going to
run round in my head
I might as well be dreaming
run round in my head

If this is going to
run round in my head
I might as well be dreaming
run round in my head

wow *slaps forhead*I forgot it was in Shrek, I see what you mean it doues sound sad but I suppose it depends on what you link the song to/with. For me it links a a memory that's yeah little sad but also wonderful at the same time. I suppose it's the link you establish with a tune that can flip the emotions just as well as the tune itself. The power of music is truly awesome. '<img'>

Totally..
After-all
What to one person(or fur) is the most wonderful sound in the world that never ceaces to make them smile might send the one siting beside them into such a depression as few have ever known because of what that thinking when hearing it.
Music is a powerful tool.. it can effect the soul in ways that nothing else could.

I don't know all of this song... If anyone does please finish it for me.

Two Tear Drops

two tear drops floating down a river
One teardrop says to the other,
I'm from the brite blue eyes of a woman in love...
Todays the day she just got married,
I was there as she said her vows and got ready
and she said I do she gently wiped me away.
So I drifted down and caught me a ride to the sea.

The other Teardrop said we got a connection,
I'm a tear of sadness, born of rejection.
I'm from the sad brown eyes of her old flame.
I could tell he had a lot of my friends for company,
So I drifted down and caught me a ride to the sea.

OH the oceans a little bit bigger tonight,
Two more teardrops somebody cried,
One of them happy,
And one of them bluer then blue.
The tide rolls out and the Tide rolls in,
Someday thay will be teardrops again,
Relesed in a moment of pleasure,
Or a moment of pain.
Then they'll drift on down and ride to the sea again.

I wish I knew the rest.. And I'm not sure I got what I did remember full right.
I just remember that while i was trying to remember it at work today I keep droping tears of my own from the sad words. ''

Just heard this song today.  Definitely getting the album next chance I get:

Its all Understood by Jack Johnson.

Everyone laughed at her joke
As if they'd never even heard it before
And maybe they were truly amused
But every word that she spoke was a bore
And maybe it's because they had seen
The previews on the TV screen
Well this part is good and that's well understood
So you should laugh if you know what I mean

But it's all relative
Even if you don't understand
Well it's all understood
Especially when you don't understand
Then it's all just because
Even if we don't understand
Then lets all just believe

Everyone knows what went down
Because the news was spread all over town
And fact is only what you believe
And fact and fiction work as a team
It's almost always fiction in the end
That content begins to bend
When context is never the same

And it's all relative
Even if we don't understand
And it's all understood
Especially when we don't understand
Then it's all just because
Even if we don't understand
Then lets all just believe

I was reading a book
Or maybe it was a magazine
Suggestions on where to place faith
Suggestions on what to believe
But I read somewhere
That you've got to beware
You can't believe anything you read
But the good Book is good
And it's all understood
So don't even question
If you know what I mean

But it's all relative
Even if you don't understand
Well it's all understood
Especially when you don't understand
And it's all just because
Even if we don't understand
Then lets all just believe

But there you go once again
You missed the point and then you point
Your fingers at me
And say that I said not to believe
I believe
I guess
I guess it's all relative

i get relaxed easily by a band called boxcar racer theyre sorta like an emotional rock band

Letters to god:

Caught off guard
All worked up
The air is as dark and cold as night
Let me go
Im not done
I swear ill take this one lifetime

And I
I wont lie
I wont sin
Maybe i dont wanna go
Can't you wait
Maybe i dont wanna go

I should have asked
I could have helped
At least a F***ing thousand times before
Will this offer
Get me in
Or does it prove that they gave more

And I
I won't lie
I won't sin
Maybe i don't wanna go
Can't you wait
Maybe i don't wanna go

And I
I won't lie
I won't sin
Maybe i don't wanna go
can't you wait
Maybe i don't wanna go
And I
I won't lie
I won't sin
Maybe i don't wanna go
can't you wait
Maybe i don't wanna go

Sorrow

Because I need you more than you need me
Because I want you more i know

Because we moved to f***ing fast
I think I really had to wish to make this last i know

I'm sorry
Please forgive me
Believe me if you would

Because I cared way more
Beacause i really felt that you felt so much more i know

I'm sorry
Please forgive me
Believe me if you would
I'm sorry please forgive me
Believe me i you could

I'm sorry
Please forgive me
Believe me if you would
I'm sorry please forgive me
Believe me i you could
I'm sorry
Please forgive me
Believe me if you would
I'm sorry please forgive me
Believe me i you could
Believe me if you would

another song i find soothing is another song by green day:

Time of your life

Another turning point a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist directs you where to go
So make the best of this task and don't ask why
It's not a question but a lesson learned in time

If something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life

So take the photographs and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tatoos are memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while

If something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life

If something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life
