Hey.. well I said I would start up a book review thread and here it is.
In my first one I think fitting I'll post my Views on not a single book but a book series that had a hugh impact on my very life as I know it.
The series is The Animorphs by K.A. Applegate
The series contains 56 titles but also has small brach-offs that are a part of it as well bringing the total books based on it into the 60's.
Now how these books effected me was that thay sort-of awakened my deep intrest in animals. Not to say I didn't have it before.. its just that after reading one of the books my intrest in animals grew so fast not even I could totally understand it.
Animorphs is a book about 5 human kids (and later an Alien child as well) who useing the power to become any animal thay can touch to wage gurrilla-warfare aginst a ruthless alien invasion of the slug-like kind.
Ever see Startrek #2... recall those slugs that guy had put in the other guys ears?.. Think along those lines.

Anyways the Yeerks (The slugs) are doing their best to take over the world by slowly taken over humity and turning them all into controlers ( a controller is basicly like a slave to the yeerks as their brain is under complet control while a yeerk is in their). The Animorphs do what thay can to try and stop the yeerks without killing too many of hosts. (even those death is invitable durring war) And without geting themselves killed.

K.A. Applegate did wonderfully On this series. To write them in such the way she did she actually reserched the animals she would be useing as morphs with her extencive colletion of Zoology books. I know that Cause I was in a fanclub of the series for a while and that bit of Info was in the newletter.

 These books are HIGHLY Recomended.
2 thumbes and 2 wings and a tail way up for these books..
I give them an 12 on the 1- 10 scale.

Hunts luck everyfur.
Today we take a look at the grand City of New York.
Or should I say the Cats of said city.
Today's topic is The Book of Night with Moon by Diane Duane.
This wonderful Novel based upon Duane's Young Wizards Series takes the same world as in that series but onto a new speices.
The Housecat.
Thats right your ticacal Housecat might not be quite so normal. In fact.. he/she might be a wizard.
Not some person in a diffrent shape but a true wizardly cat.
*grins*
The story covers the point of veiw of Reiowl (I think thats how its spelt) A de-queened housecat, who just happens to be the leader of a team of wizards about to take on their toughest assissment yet. To help the New Novice kitten Anru to learn and be ready for as well as complete his ordeal.
But the wizardys are begaining to fail and emotions are lashed out at as the group gets ready and things are gonna be impossable unless she can learn that sometimes  even wizardys that make no sence can work.

I found it to be an exicting and very funny read. Once agiain this book is highly recomended...
Just be warned of suggistive dialog... don't read it to a young or too immature child... In other words.. parents screen the book before leting your kids read it.

Well, I have read much of the Animorphs series. And I do admit, it is a Very good series. I used to chew through a book a day. Though my income at the time wasn't all that great being around elementry school at that time. Still isn't, lol.

But the Animorph series were very good. My Fav combo of Furries and Sci-fi. My Favorite book was the Antilidite (I forgot how to spell that) Chronicals. That and the Hork bajir (forgot how to spell that as well) something. Gee, I ain't much use if I can't even remember the book tital. Oy..

Though Anyways, the Animorph series was and still is my favorite series, besides that of the Phule Series by Robert Asprin, and the Rowan Series by Anne McCaffery. ^_^

A book series I could read over and over again is "The Chronicles of Narnia" by C. S. Lewis.  These books have everything, magic, villains, and of course, talking animals.  I highly recommend them.

"Any movie with a "preachy" message, be it Christianity, environmentalism, political positions, or what have you, turns away people because rather than letting the audience figure out for themselves what the meaning is, they are told exactly what they ought to think and usually in terms of slogans and buzz words". ~ Brian Godawa

*First up... my next Book review..*
Today..Its So you want to be a Wizard by Diane Duane.
The first book of her aclaimed Young Wizards series.
The story follows young Juanita L. Callahan (Nit for short) as she first finds the manual, then says the oath, meets her partner(Kit), and then as she and Kit take their own ordel.
Holding as much Comady as drama the novel is Very well writen.
So well written in fact.. That it might just make New Yorker's start to wonder what that steam comeing from the sewers at night is really made by. *grins*
Two paws up again.
*A phrase you will hear every time a review one of Duane's books as every one of them I have read I have fallen in love with.... NO not that way*

Today we head under the ocean waves to sing with the whales in Diane Duane's second edition to the young wizards series, Deep Wizardry.
Kit, Nita, and Nita's family are takeing some of their summer vacation at the beach... thats when Kit and Nita are but on call as wizards and sent to help the whales proform their "Song of the Twelve" which is the only way to stop many of the terrable things happening around New York... and if the song Fails.. then New York is gonna become the Next Altancis and sink beneth the waves killing tens of Thousands of unsuppecting people...
But the song requies a Terrable price to be paid in order to work... Are those countless lives worth it to she who must pay it?

2 paws up this book is almost as good as the orginal.

She's taken us to a whole new world .
Then she took us Under the sea.
Now Diane Duane takes us to a Galexy far far away in High Wizardry.
Dairine , Nita's bratty little sister useuing Nita's manual has taken the oath. And the very next day she gets her own manual... a compute of all things.. and then before anyone even knows she is a wizard except herself she has lept into her own ordel.. which takes her to the very edge of the universe.
Kit and Nita are soon called in to Go after the Oh so younge and powerful wizard and help her as best thay can..
And dairine, even with her almost limitless power and her total crazyness for Star wars.. is gonna need it.

Two and a half paws up.(whered I get the extra half a paw from?)

Hi Again everyfur!

Well theres just one more book of Diane Dunane's great Young Wizards Series that I have had a chance to read.
It's  A Wizard Abroad.
Summer is almost over for the year and nearly every Wakeing Moment Nita and her Partner Kit have been working on their own Projects... and Nita's Parents don't LIKE how much time thay are spending together.
So Nita's Parents force her to take a trip ... To IRELAND.
Grugingly Nita accepts.
Nita upon arivle thought she felt more at Home Out in the vast reaches of the univerce while Chaceing her sister around on Dairine's Ordel.
Little does she or anyone else at the start know that the real reason Nite was sent to the Irish was to help them out with another reactment aginst the lone power.. or a shadow of his that still is up to no good.
Balor of the EVIL EYE.
A great read and very funny to boot.
Just be on the lookout for Kitten bards who were found in sacks, mind the Ghosts and the magic overlays... and "Welcome to Ireland." '<img'>  '<img'>

Ok.. Today we take a break from my recent "Priase Diane Duane" marathon.
Todays novle is Dealing with Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede.
The store is about Princess Cimorene, the seventh Daughter of a VERY proper royal family. only she is much too tall.. able to look most princes in the eyes if not over their heads. and she HATES doing the normal things a princess does. Insted she like fenceing, cooking, latin, Juggleing, preforming magic.. and lots of other stuff princess.. just.. don't.. do.
So when her family trys to force her to marry a prince she just doesn't like.. She runs away and finds Kazul.. a dragon who cimorene desides to become the princess of.. and she finds that being a dragons servent is much to her likeing.
But  as soon as she solves one problem for her.. another arizes.
Be it from Knights and princes wanting to "save" her, to dealing with the wizards who have their own plans.

Cimorene ran away to find excitment.. and she found plenty.

I don't usually remember books by their names, just the events in them. Some of my most favorite books I remember by name, but some I remember by their happenins. And If I did, it must been a good while back. heh. Sorry.

Today I report seriously on a book that deserves seriousness.
Though not A furry story this novel is one that deals with issues pressent in todays world and should be read by all.
"The Year Thay Burned the Books" By Nancy Garden Probes in contversal issues such as Censorship, Prejudice and Morality in ways many news Medias never touch, and brings light to the fact that gays are people too, thue the eyes of a young lesbian comeing to terms with herself.
The young woman, Jamie, and her two best friends, Tessa and Terry, as well as Terry's boyfriend, Ernie, Suffer the slings and arrows durring their senior year even thue not all of them are gay.

A compeling story that I found I couldn't put down without forceing myself.
