Okay, Don't Kill Me

This may not be furry, but it sure as hell caught this lion's eye. Just check this out and tell me how crappy it will be...

(Taken from the RPGnet forums. Actual thread posted here.)

~~~
The SCI FI Channel announced a new slate of original films set to premiere in 2004-'05, as the network increases its production to 22 originals per year, with about two premiering each month. The channel calls the films "a blend of special effects, bone-crunching fight scenes and out-of-this-world creatures." The SCI FI Saturday Action movies are a ratings success story for the channel: Since SCI FI introduced them in 2002, they have averaged a household rating of 1.4, 40 percent higher than the channel's average.
Among the upcoming productions:
• Dead Rail. A detective on board a bullet train on its inaugural run to Las Vegas must overcome his haunted past to destroy hostile aliens. Written by Brian Smith, founder of SCIFI.COM's Seeing Ear Theatre, and produced by Glow Worm.
• Darklight. Lilith, a superhuman warrior cursed with immortality, must battle an escaped genetically engineered creature carrying a deadly virus. Directed by Bill Platt, former development executive for the SCI FI Channel's Exposure. Production begins in Sofia, Bulgaria, with UFO Films in July.
• Chupacabra. The mythical beast is captured and smuggled aboard a cruise ship en route to America, but escapes, and Navy SEALs are brought in to destroy the monster. Produced by Regent Films.
• Raptor Island. Raptors are discovered on a remote island when an elite team journeys deep into the jungle to rescue a kidnapped scientist. Produced by 100% Entertainment.
• Mansquito. A scientist trying to find a cure for the West Nile Virus accidentally transforms herself and a junkie into mutant mosquito creatures. Produced by Nu Image.
• Alien Blood. An alien army invades Earth, demanding the sacrifice of 1 million humans, and a small band of human prisoners rebels. Produced by UFO Films.
• Larva. A dirty meat-packing company sells meat contaminated with larvae, and the larvae begin to growing inside the customers. Produced by Nu Image.
• Hammerhead. While working on stem-cell research, a scientist transforms his subject into a mutant shark-beast. Produced by Nu Image.
Also getting hyped was Sci Fi's upcoming mini-series "Battlestar Galactica," which premieres December 7. The channel also plans a special Halloween-themed one-hour episode of "Scare Tactics" in October (exact date TBA). New episodes of the series will continue to run from now through the end of September.
My theory behind this: They're trying to revive MST3K, so they need fresh fodder for the gang. '<img'>
An odd line-up, but it may be of interest to some furs here.
"Mansquito"... the word alone makes me chuckle. Heheh.
*shudders* That reminds me of a movie. Killer Rabbits or something along those lines. *hand shakes* Oh, god that was bad... Just little rabbits killing people.... Think monty python and the holy grail, and you got the gist of the movie from the killer rabbit scene.
The worse part about all of that was where it mentioned the return of battle star galactica...Im sorry you cant take a starwars rip off and remake it just because George Lucus decided to remake his movies. Its just not natural.
o_O StarWars Rip off?.... I'm sorry I sorta fail to see the connection between the two. BattleStar Galatica was very good, And an expensive show to put on. That was why it stopped. It was so expnsive to put on that they couldn't continue anymore. But with today's technology they can do it for a bit cheeper.
*holds hands up* I have no wish to start an argument, but as far as I see, BSG and SW as no connection worth beans.
Ha ha, what TV space sci fi shows lack is the "bad-butt" (pardon my language) factor. They don't have any attitude, and when they do its usually just pansy fights and leather-bearing women. The closest show to epic I've seen is Babylon 5. All the others are either too limp or too poorly written and executed.
It's a question of origin. Nothing less.
Babylon 5 was indeed a great show.
I was hooked on Battlestar Galactica when I was a kid.  I need to check-up on this remake.
Anyone remember Attack of the Killler Tomatoes?
"Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!
From Gangreen's lab come forth each week
The ripe red monsters of which we speak
Except when he has a security leak!
Tomatoes, Tomatoes!
Oh, isn't it pityticing
Tomatoes eating the city
Can no-one stop these mutant fruits
Where will we find our brave recruits?
Can Wilbur ever get rid of that dumb parachute?"
The Movie are the Old Cartoon Series?
Life? Ha, the greatest joke. Tis surely proof that God has a sense of humor, all be it a sadistic one.
Starbuck is girl-flavoured this time though. I wonder if they'll try to explain this sudden transformation. ^_^
AHEM! *clears throat*
Michael Rennie was ill the day the earth stood still
But he told us where we stand
And Flash Gordon was there in silver underwear
Claude Raines was the invisible man
Then something went wrong for Fay Wray and King Kong
They got caught in a celluloid jam
Then at a deadly pace it came from outer space
And this is how the message ran:
Science Fiction - Double Feature
Dr. X will build a creature
See androids fighting Brad and Janet
Ann Francis stars in Forbidden Planet
Oh-oh at the late night, double feature, picture show.
I knew Leo G. Carroll was over a barrel
When Tarantula took to the hills
And I really got hot when I saw Janet Scott
Fight a Triffid that spits poison and kills
Dana Andrews said prunes gave him the runes
And passing them used lots of skills
But when worlds collide, said George Pal to his bride
I'm gonna give you some terrible thrills, like a:
Science Fiction - Double Feature
Dr. X will build a creature
See androids fighting Brad and Janet
Ann Francis stars in Forbidden Planet
Oh-oh at the late night, double feature, picture show.
I wanna go, oh-oh, to the late night double feature picture show.
By RKO, oh-oh, at the late night double feature picture show.
In the back row at the late night double feature picture show.
I belive THAT was begging to be poasted. Viva Rocky Horror!
Benjamin
I did.
And yes, it is a horribly bad movie.  But don't forget, there's movies that are just bad, and then there are movies that are so bad they become hilarious (Mars Attacks, Leprechaun, etc.)
"Night of the Lepus" is one of those so-bad-its-good movies.
Night of the Lepus hmm sounds intresting must find it and add it to my B movie collection ( Yes I am that sort of nut nutter who likes this kind of thing) . Im sorry just have to jump in here and pay homage to Babylon 5 The greatest sci fi series period I loved the series and spent a lot of time and effort tracking down the series on tape to add to my ever growing video pile. Some of the titles mentioned earlier looked kind of intresting. Good enough to be added along side my fils such as Attack of the flesh eating Zombies and Bad Taste. Im gonna make a run for it now befor im attack with a load of killer tomatoes.
All I want too do is leave paw prints in the sands of time. (Garfield)
