Well, this was certainly strange. At the EXACT moment the power went down, I turned on a switch to do laminating! ':p'
At home I had chips for dinner...blarg. At least our frozen foods didnt spoil. What was it like for everyone else...oh yes....despite the blackout, people still came in to copy. what the heck?! ':.'

I guess they figured you guys had back up generators or something *Shrugs*.

I up here in Maine was unaffected by the problum. So far I figure the only logical conclusion behind the black out was over stressed power generators. Being all connected and stuff, through a world wide power network. I was sorta worried that Furtopia was hit as well, since parts of Ohio were hit as well. But I guess not, as when I found out about the power outage it was around 9 PM here. I think I've been able to access furtopia the whole time so, I guess it wasn't. ^_^

It was rather silly watching the news, and whenever they came back from the commercials ABC news had something of 'Blackout of 2003' Ooooo.... scary... o.O

The only effect your blackout had on us in Alabama was excited news reporters all over TV.  A buddy of mine lost his web hosting provider for a while because of it.

I was on my way out of Hamilton at the time that the power went out. A lot of people don't know enough to follow the basic rules of the road when the traffic lights have gone dead. Oh well.
I spent the evening listening to the radio and all of the reports that were coming in and being discussed regarding the blackout. I watched the stars, since it was a pretty dark sky with only a couple small areas coming online in our region. It was pretty cool. Got to see Mars, at least... and it was very odd to see that the moon was the one object shedding the most glare across the night sky as it rose. '<img'>

I'm staying home from work today, since the premier of Ontario requested that all non-essential workers stay home until things are all sorted out. Oh well... Got a day off at least! Prrr... '<img'>

Ahh yes, Furtopia.. Well, they're about 4.5 hours drive away from Cleveland (which is what got blacked out here in Ohio), so they're purrfectly fine.  =^_^=  I seriously wondered if any more cities would go out next, though.

I thought i had w32.blaster.worm even know i had downloaded the patch days ago, once i found out it was a power outage i was much relived, and i spmt the evening reading one of my summer reading books by candlelight. no big deal.

As a canadian, I find that insulting. But as a teenaged furry with a wonderfur scents of humor, I think it's hilarious.
Here in nova Scotia, we didn't have any problems. (Except the normal ones due to Eastlink -.-) And this is the first I've heard of it..  ':dead:'

This is EXACTLY why I am so happy that my region of Iowa has its own power system.
It's a question of origin. Nothing less.

Sorry, didn't mean to be offensive!  My post was absurd on several levels... There is some argument in the media as to the blame of the black-out... also the idea of a canadian terrorist just seemd too ridiculous to pass up.  A certain John Candy movie comes to mind...

We are fine here though parts of the net seem to be having problems so I have not been able to communicate with Benjamin via our normal net.

Yeah Xenia was fine.  Furtopia runs on several very large UPS backups.  Should we lost power CGI (our forums) should say running for at least 25 min.  Our primary web server should stay running 1-2 hours and non-critical services will shut down first to conserve power.  With 10 machines you have to pick and chose what stays and what will go in the event of an emergency.  I may some day get a generator funds permitting.  But if Xenia loses it's power for to long even though we have power the phone company may not. Strange. I guess the IMing's a bit too slow between us or something. The messages probably have to take too many hops between us and get lost in the net. ':p'
My connection to the board here is a bit sporadic and often slow, probably because my connection to it has to take an unusually long route thanks to the areas that probably still blacked out.
Whee...
It'll all be fine and dandy again soon, I'm sure.

Well, Like Perimus, I had no probs here in Western Alabama. *Holws* Glad to see a fellow Bama on here. Couple of my buds were in the affected areas and some thought that something bad had happened to them physically, before I told them about the blackout. Hope all are well and safe!

There was no power outage it was all an illusion created buy the proximity of Mars to the Earth. You were only lead to believe that the power was out by your governments for reasons of national security.

Now if you'll just look over here *holds up a stick with a light on it*

*flash*

I repeat there was no power outage, it was all just the effect of a weather balloon igniting some swamp gas.
