Site Backup CD's?
« on: January 24, 2007, 12:40:28 pm »
I was thinking about this today: What if Furtopia offered a 'backup CD', (for a charge, of cource) of ones site? The admins could take and copy ones site onto a CD and send it to them via mail so if something happened to their site, they could re-upload something, (Or, if you're like me and moved to a new server, not everything would be lost)

I don't know about Furtopia, but I keep a mirror of my website sitting in my home folder.  It's not too hard to make one, since most FTP programs can let you recursively download FTP sites.

We have local (on site) and remote (downloaded) backups.  There has been times someone has deleted something and we recovered it from a archive.  But it's time consuming and always best for users to keep their own backups by keeping a local copy on your hard drive.  Filezilla found in http://www.furtopia.org/tools  can do that fairly simply.
