i have been able to control my dreaming for, well ever.  when i was a wee lad i had terrible nightmares and i eventually learned how to change them.  one instance i can remember was when i first had darkwolfen (my dark and nasty fursona) i was able to defeated some strange terminator, i have used it ever since and i learned how to just change add, make things more realistic, but i find if i get too involved the concentration needed eventually wakes me up.  its better to change one or two things then let it flow.

I have had dreams like those.  I think the longest mine has ever lasted was about 4 or 5 years.  I think One of my friends in the dream moved, so I ended it, Nya.

I think I've had a few lucid dreams, I think I always contol my actions in a dream, and they always seem so realistic that I think that I am not dreaming, rather, it is reality. I then wake up first thinking "wow, things have gone my way" or "oh boo, I did not want that to happen" and then I'm like "oh, that did not happen!". But, I don't seem to remember some of my dreams
Understanding leads to empathy,
Empathy leads to admiration,
Admiration leads to love

Optimism leads to disappointment,
Pessimism leads to joy,
although, with optimism you are happy almost all the time,
and pessimism you are sad almost all the time.

Where's the line between being bored and generally too lazy to do anything? :p

Hmm, yes I Lucid dream. Its become an expertise of mine, and I can do it whenever I most please.
I think I have a very crazy imagination or something, for the first time I've stopped a nightmare, ((it was some confusing thing about alien bugs reproducing on with thumbtacks [??], it took place at my grandparents house, most of my dreams of a place i've before do now that i think of it)) I sort of made a 'node' for the dreams i've had.

Well... presently, I can adjust most any aspect of a dream I have, down to the movement of a leaf by the wind. And, I think it may have hindered my Vivid Dreaming abilities.

Now, Lucid Dreams are a real power, able to do whatever you may well please and remember things, as well as conquer fears (did it for death, i don't have necrophobia anymore), but Vivid Dreams are what make nights most interesting. As far as I remember of what I do myself in dreaming is looking through clips (pictures, movies, audio, anything my regular 5 senses catch) or figuring out some trivial information I looked up some other time (heh, Grand Antiprism), in a console with that 'node' from the beginning, but as anything from air to my fursona (yea.. It's become easy to think of him and his aspects).
Just perusing over what I've collected in the World and day's imagination. It's a time of connection with what the heck my head's been doing all day, since it's either going too fast for me to catch up or hiding (somehow). Anyway, those few times I DO let a dream loose, I'm usually aware and sit back to watch the show, I'd perfer to be an audience than a director. There may be some times where I forget it, but then it hits me later that day. And for those bits that you get when you wake up, I usually remember those for a while... I'm remembering an odd one right now. They sometimes also turn out to be foresight, but it hasn't in over... Hmm... 3 weeks?

But now I'm sorta going off topic, ask me in some other way than spamming a topic not for it.  ':p'

Happy dreaming, and be the heck careful. Power is a.. er.. POWERFUL thing.

Wooow lucid dreaming. I used to be all into that some years ago, consistantly kept a dream journal, always doing reality checks, and looked forward to going to bed. Then I went off to college and now I don't even have a sleep cycle, so it's hard to stay consistant with anything. I had some fairly nice results though, though far from full control. I honestly don't know that I would want to take full control though, as that takes out the element of adventure/surprise.

Some people mentioned it being hard to keep a dream journal -- what worked best for me was to keep a handheld tape recorder by my bed and just use that-- it saves getting up and turning on the light (or computer screen) and trying to write as fast as you can all the details before the dream fades from memory. I always did transcribe it from the tape later when I was fully awake, and sometimes remembered a bit more in the process.

I still have a lucid dream every now and then, and most nights I remember a dream or two. I just don't put a lot of effort into inducing lucid dreams like I used to.

Heh, weird thing: I took down my Indian-style dream catcher I've had for ages and... Dreams seem... better in a way. Like they're coming from elsewhere instead of my own head.
I remember I had started Lucid dreaming when i was wee young, no more than 10 or 9 (why am i saying wee...?). I had always heard that dreams are what you make of them, they aren't real and they can't hurt you. Well, I'm a hard thinker, and back then I had taken this most literally, and stopped that dream... now I'm getting into the entire "Astral Plane" concept. One thing that happened recently that freaked the hell out of me was, I was remembering back to my first (memorable) dream (one that repeated, it was my first lucid experience as well), this takes place at my grandparents house.
Anywho, I look back and remember a wall at the end of where the pond drain would allegedly be. I found out recently that there once WAS a wall there, I had to eliminate some of it to fix pond draining. So, i looked back (chatting about Lucid dreaming, go figure) and then I realize... WHOA that WAS there?!
So... Yea, dreams are an oddity for me. ':p'

Lucid dreaminng, wow someone touching on this is great. I am always aware of I dreaming that I have surpreme power over everything associated with it. I am able to reshape my dream and even contact others while I dream threw my dreams. I am very strong in my dreams, but even though I have strong ability I still can not manipulate everything some things happen.

Example: I had way too many dreams of tornados ripping threw my home. Now I can control it, even though I can not stop the tonado, all it becomes is a light breeze on the face.

And yes I can feel things in my dream: sand, paper, ice, etc.

Strange but all true.

I may have had a lucid dream once, and after reading wikipedia I think it might have been a cousin of the False Awakening.  I distinctly remembered waking up and going to school, then coming home and going to bed again--a whole day minus the time from about 4 to 10 when I went to bed.  This puts it at about eight hours--a full night's sleep!  I woke up the next day and until lunchtime I believed it was the next calendar day.  Then I figured it out because of the lunch menu.

I might have to actively try lucid dreaming again.

Delliberately ONCE  ''

I'd heard of lucid dreaming for about two years now, and over the christmas holidays I decided to find out what it actually was.

Quote
The ability to control one's own dreams

This sparked my interest and at first I'm like: "This is a load of garbage! dreams are random; 'n' you're unconscious!"

This thought later changed to "I might like to give this a try"

A month later I had my first lucid dream (I was in a war and I had a tail  '' ) then school came back and I haven't had much time to devote to lucid dreaming anymore. I never thought it would take so much effort.

That doesn't mean they've stopped, they just get less interesting 'cause I don't expect them anymore.  ''

Those who are interested in lucid dreaming; the best method I've found (forgot the name) was telling yourself to wake up around 3-4 am over and over before you go to sleep. Then once you do wake up, walk around the house, read about lucid dreaming, think of lucid dreaming and make sure you are fully awake before you try to go back to sleep again.
By now, lucid dreaming should be the only thing on your mind, then you sleep and hopefully, have a lucid dream!  '<img'>

oOoOo lucid dreaming. I've been doing that for years. I did many experiments back in the day and I'll write quickly about them.

Right short history.. I suffer from insomnia of hades, when I'm going through a bout of it (usually lasts 3-4 weeks) is when I lucid dream. I tend to do it more in the morning than at night. And I'm almost guaranteed to do it if there's a gently background noise (tv or radio or something)

I found controlling lucid dreams pretty easy, I can change myself, my surroundings, get people to do things the lot. What I can't do is think when I'm dreaming lucidly..

I decided that possibly it'd be an idea to meditate on an idea and even pray while dreaming lucidly. The times I remembered to, I couldn't concentrate enough to hold something in my mind, it'd come and go as fleeting thoughts, which is what dreams are really, since although dreams seem linear when we remember them, truth is they're only a few seconds long and fleet from one thing to another.

Uhh yeah that's about all I have to say hehe

My experiences are in the opposite direction. I very rarely recall even whether or not I have dreams and do not remember the content of my dreams very much.

Part of this is probably due to the fact that for many years I had terrible nightmares. It got to the stage where I either took tranquillisers and was unconscious to get rest or I experienced the nightmares. I exerted control in the only way that turned out to work, I put dreams firmly in the sleeping part of my mind. I understand that I do dream, having slept over at friends' places and such where I have been known to sleep-mumble. But the dreams don't bleed over and nightmares usually just get cut, like stopping a scary movie.

I tend to read or write a few feelgood stories before I turn in for the night - stories focused on frienship or doing something nice to get myself relaxed and settled into a good frame of mind.

For me, I just now got into lucid dreaming (finally found a site) And I've already got results! Here's what happened:

Me and a friend (I didn't recognize him) were on a snow covered hill that I live close to, then we slipped and started sliding down it. Then a snowboard suddenly popped onto my feet and I, for some odd reason, was pretty good at riding it! and when I got to the end of the hill, the snow started melting and I walked around and saw my girl-friend with two of her friends (didn't recognize them either). So we went into an abandoned school-bus and played around in it. For some odd reason, she almost cut my arm off with an ax that was in there  ':?:'

Yes, I am positively weird.  '<img'>

Oh hehehe, this reminds me of a lucid dream I had forgotten about ':p'

A while ago I had a lucid dream that started of normal, just me as my fursona running about in a desert, just because, I like rocky deserts ^^

But later a much weirder series of events too place.

I was within some kind of metropolis, not futurist architecture just many high rise buildings, anyway...

It just seemed like.... an outdoor furmeet nothing strange.....
Other than the fact that a guy was playing final fantasy 7, and instead of playing as cloud he was playing as a pink bunny ^^

Then after a bit of relaxing I got up and starting building things RTS style... then the same guy comes over to be and says...
 'See that tunnel over there?'
*He points to the tunnel*
'The foxes from the other faction like to try and sneak in here through there, I advise you build a point defense turret'
(Stationary gun... thing ^^ )

Then he walks off
And I just remember standing there like..... what did he just say? ':p'

Thats where the dream ended... not much happened but.... just seemed so random and surreal ^^

Or maybe just because I dont remember my dreams much and this just stands out....

By the time I realize that I'm dreaming, its usually too late (as in I'm having a nightmare). As for controlling it, that happens randomly.

I knew someone back when I lived in Michigan who was able to do that kind of thing *very* well, almost on demand when sleeping.

I've been able to do it once or twice but I have to be sleeping very lightly, and the shock of getting it right is usually wakes me up again.

When I was younger I'd lucid dream all the time.  Usually I'd go travel/teleport to places I've never been before, flap my arms in order to fly (it looks really weird, but I dunno! I found it cool) or turn myself into a bird or a fox and just explore the land.  I still can  lucid dream sometimes, but it's a rare treat and short-lived.

Kinda hard to say I'm "lucid"
Yeah, I get aware of the dream and stuff, but I like to go with the flow, you know? I love dreaming weird, unpredictable stuff.
So I guess it's an unlucid lucidity?

I've been able to do it ONCE whenever I was wee (beat up a blue fuzzy monster... '<img'> ), but since then, nope, never been able to.

Also, I've been trying to follow a guide for it, but this stuff is hard! '' Even just trying to write down what your dream was as soon as you wake up is a challenge. Haven't been able to do it, yet. ':p'

Looks like you're trying to follow the same thing I did. Writing things down helped, but only by keeping your mind on lucid dreaming.

For lucid dreaming to work, I've found that you have to be VERY focused, and spend every waking moment thinking of lucidity... heh. I flunked.

Hmm,  This is really interesting.  I always control what i do in dreams,  But i never do anything weird because i dont know its a dream.  But even if i figure it out,  i just wake up.

EDIT:  What does happen a lot though is Deja vu.  At least 3 times a week i get it really bad.

I used to be really good at lucid dreaming. Coincidentally, I had one last night (A flying dream). I had them most when I wrote them down and made reality checks. In a dream, once I realized I was dreaming, I could wake up, do whatever I wanted, and had super powers. The ability to wake up freed me from my nightmares forever '<img'>  It always took a lot of concentration to transform myself or my surroundings, and most of the time I couldn't do it at all. When I enter a dream, I'm either myself or my fursona and I don't change anything. I just go have fun. I've always had REALLY vivid dreams to the point of hyper-awareness. All the five senses go into overdrive and I obtain somewhat of a sixth, awareness of all around me.

If you want to try to obtain lucidity in your dreams, here's some tips:
Write your dreams down. I know it's been said several times, but it works. It helps you keep the dream fresh in your mind, helps you recall details of your dream, and trains your mind to retain the dreaming state.
Make reality checks. Several times a day, look closely at an object. Text or a clock work best. If it doesn't look right, or if the words or time look wrong, ask yourself if you might be dreaming, and it will become apparent to you. Soon you'll be able to just ask yourself "Am I dreaming?" and your "sixth sense" will tell you.
Don't pinch yourself. It just hurts.
Let it go. Dreams are brief. If you find yourself doing some menial task, make a reality check. If you're dreaming, drop whatever you're doing and go have some fun!
When you climb into bed, tell yourself you're going to have a lucid dream. Don't focus on any one thing. Let your mind wander where it will. Think about the day's events, or your fursona or whatever. Just keep your mind busy thinking about things. If you're lucky, you might catch the moment when thoughts become pictures.
Plan on sleeping in. Go to bed late so you're genuinely tired, and don't set an alarm. There's nothing more frustrating than being interrupted from a nice lucid dream.

Happy Dreaming!
